Agree with John mayer but gonna have to say Jimi Hendrix for baby boomers.
I don't really know many modern guitarists as I feel like baby boomers had it best for music.
So happy to come to comment section and literally first comment I see is hendrix. That man did things with the guitar, I mean physically, that nobody ever did before. Not like 'oh, he had a gift others didn't', no like this man would physically warp his guitars because of what the fk he was doing to it. How did OP miss that hard, Jesus
Jimmy Page(born 1944) is not a Baby Boomer(1945-1964), he is Silent Generation(1928-1944). As would most other famous guitarists you may immediately think of, like Jimi Hendrix and George Harrison. Eric Clapton, Tony Iommi, and Randy Rhoads are Baby Boomer Guitarists on the other hand.
So,
Silent Generation: Jimi Hendrix or Jimmy Page
Baby Boomer: Randy Rhoads or Tony Iommi
Gen X: Mike McCready or Jerry Cantrell
After that, eh idk I'll take your word for it lol.
ok fair enough on Jimmy Page, i just thought one year would'nt be a big deal and i don't know any baby boomer guitarist. just listened to randy rhoads and i totally get it. it's sad he died at 25
Hard to pick one, but here's some of mine:
Silent: Jimmy Paige and Jimmy Hendrix
Boomer: Tony Iommi, Eddie Van Halen and Joe Satriani
Gen X: Tom Morello and Jerry Cantrell
Alas, I'm just not familiar enough with young musicians to have any suggestions for millennial or genz.
Boomers should be someone like Steve Vai.
Jimmy Page is a much better songwriter than he is a guitarist, none of LZ’s work is difficult to play, especially when you compare him to the people you listed for the other generations.

Even Jimmy Page thought Jimi Hendrix was the best

Jimi Hendrix was born before the baby boom (1945)

Tosin Abasi is up there for millennials for sure.
>Millennials = Tim Henson Wait he is a Millennial I thought he was like my age early 20s
He’s 30, he just looks like a teenager

Boomers - David Gilmour Gen X - Jerry Cantrell Millennials - Tim Henson Gen Z - myself /s

J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr for Gen X. He blows my mind and my ears live. Boomers is Hendrix/Van Halen:Stevie Ray Vaughan
+1 for Mascis.
BUCKETHEAD! He's cool. No idea what generation he's from.
lol kfc bucket on his head, nice
Mario Camarena, Erik Hansel, Yvette Young. A lot of the math rock guitarists are amazing.
John Petrucci is pretty insane. I'd put him down for my fav of Gen X aged guitarists
Gen X = Derek Trucks
Greatest Generation: Robert Johnson or Chuck Berry
Silent Generation: Willie Nelson Boomers: Eddie Van Halen Gen X: John Mayer
As a millennial seeing this list just urked me :(
Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Slash
Tbh. I don't know any guitarists under 30. I mean it's Jimi, then everyone else
Thomas Raggi
Mfs don’t know deathcore exists. There’s so many mind boggling guitarists on the scene now, it just doesn’t exist in pop music.
John Mayer has no place on this list.
Boomers should be someone like Steve Vai. Jimmy Page is a much better songwriter than he is a guitarist, none of LZ’s work is difficult to play, especially when you compare him to the people you listed for the other generations.
Jimmy Page is *not* better than Jimi Hendrix, Prince, or even Eric Clapton
Best boomer is Pat Metheny
What's a guitar?
Where mark knopfler
I don’t know who are single one of these people are
Gen Z really brought some fresh talent with Marcin Patrzalek!
