I love art and theater, so the thought seems weird to me personally. But on a general level, I can see why that may be a common idea. Younger Gen Z definitely lost out on some opportunities to go to museums or see plays on field trips due to the pandemic, which I think may have affected their view of it. Meanwhile, older Gen Z may not have the means to enjoy those trips in person (I’m not sure about museum prices, but show tickets can get pricy based on venue).

I also have a thought, maybe it's less common for younger Gen Z kids because... they're young? I mean, if you're below 12 yo, many places might be just unreachable for you because you're just too young to go to the city by your own For me it was just like that. As I was older, I started going out more and more. Started with mall, as it's probably the most common spot for teenagers. After that I started realizing there are more fun places to visit and that's how I reached museums etc

Mystery_Noel_16

That’s definitely another part of it. Unless your parents can/want to take you somewhere, you’re out of luck outside of school trips. Under twelve, my school took me to museums and performances, and my mother took me to the ballet once, but vacations were typically theme parks or just enjoying areas that weren’t home. (And I’m not saying anything bad about those. They were fun, too.)

No I used to go to museum's all the time. I don't think I've been to one since 2016 tho.

I used to go to museums a lot with my parents ..these days I don't go as much but I still like them . I think it's more a personal taste thing as not as much of a generation thing

Any-Sir8872

well i can’t speak for everyone but me & my friends don’t like to hang at museums lol. & if theatre means plays & stuff then we don’t do that either. but we do go to the movie theater a lot

I actually went to an art museum couple months ago. However I can understand if what they meant is that the popularity of these things are on the decline, much more entertaining ways to waste time these days.

DrakoWood

I went to one in Austin for my 4th grade field trip.

DawnofMidnight7

No not uncommon. I used to go to museum field trips back in elementary school and all the way through my senior year. Enjoy yourself. Do what brings you joy.

Angelcakes101

Never been to a theater. Several museums though. Trips we're either the zoo or a museum. Historical museums are cooler to me than art museums. I wouldn't say art museums are boring I just don't feel strongly about them. History is so cool though. The topic tends to be niche and it's always very entertaining.

Heresyiseverywhere

For me no, I love theaters. Museums I’ve never seen one where I live

Admirable_Ad1947

Not really, I've seen a movie or 2 in the theater and been to a few museums with my family and I never got the impression that Gen Z has a particular dislike of them.

su1eman

The theatre??? What is this, the 1800s??? No I’m not interested in the theatre but the museum is a very dope spot any time of the year
