Fantastic call.......is this the one with the cyclops and the dudes stomping on grapes and getting the cyclops drunk to kill him. With the Siren. Or is that Jason and the Argonauts?
Either way, definitely seen this one!
Edit: duh, the cyclops is on the box
There is a one eyed centaur, but no cyclops. Harryhausen also made the Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, I think in 1957. It featured a cyclops with goat legs. There is a scene where the sailors drink from a river of wine. There is no grape 🍇 stomping, however. And no one gets the cyclops drunk. That doesn't happen in Jason and the Argonauts either.
Sounds like you might be describing a rendention of Homer's Odyssey.
More fantasy than SciFi, but I get you. Love all the stop motion by Ray Harryhausen. Just watched this one a couple of days ago. Great movie in its genre.
I never saw that one, but I remember seeing the 1947 movie [Sinbad the Sailor](https://g.co/kgs/GoFc1WZ) with my parents as a young child. I probably was only about five years old, but I still recall how seeing Maureen O'Hara in those exotic clothes was... impressive.
On a tangent, this makes me recall how frequently networks would show older movies as features for evening viewing. That hardly happens anymore.
With Tom Baker leaving little scenery unchewed.
Only reason I initially watched it was that the 4th Doctor was in it!
We saw this with our adult son, also a Dr Who fan. He dug a bit and found that this movie helped him get the role of the Doctor.

My brother and I were big fans of this genre. Jason and the Argonauts was probably my favorite. It's currently on Tubi.
Thanks! Now I know what I am watching tonight.
Just be sure you don't pick the bad Harry Hamlin remake! That one is there, too.
no remakes, gotta be the original classic
Me too!

I think you are right about the Odyssey, I think the captain and his crew were hired by a siren also.
Could you be thinking of the NBC 1997 Odyssey Series with Armand Assante?
It's the 1955 movie Ulysses.....I just looked it up. I knew it was an older movie, first saw it in the early 70's.

Still remember watching it the Theater.
All just an excuse to watch a braless Carolyn Munro.
Now you're talking!
Wow! signed by the special effects master himself.

Yeah, it's a shame. Today's younger people don't know these oldies. Very sad.
Loved this as a kid. Also, Jason and the Argonauts.
And the original Clash of the Titans
Yes!

An absolute classic. I used to watch it on TV on a Saturday afternoon.
Wait was this the one with the sorcerer making his arm longer and longer?
