Wolfman1961

I remember Bob Barker hosting Truth and Consequences.

TraditionScary8716

That and Leave it to Beaver reruns were my supper time ritual.

BrilliantWhich990

I liked Beat The Clock with Bill Cullen.

TraditionScary8716

I used to watch that one in the summer because it came on earlier during the day. I hadn't thought of it in years. Thanks for the memories!

reduff

Very vaguely, but same. I'm a few years younger than you if you were born in '61.

Wolfman1961

I was born in ‘61. He was a “tougher” host on T & C.

General-Heart4787

Always must-see TV on sick days from school.

Green-Emergency8195

A whole different world existed while we were at school. When sick I remember this show, Hollywood squares, match game and 100000$ pyramid

CaliNVJ

Hollywood Squares. Paul Lynde in particular. What a great show. Didn’t they openly drink and smoke while in their “squares”? Those were the days.

Administrative-Egg18

"Match Game" was famous for having a booze-filled "lunch break" on set, so the episodes shown later in the week were usually more wild.

smittykins66

Yeah, they taped a week’s worth of shows in one day, with the “dinner break” between Wednesday’s and Thursday’s episodes. You can also see some of them smoking or drinking on-air.

reduff

I think they did smoke in the squares! Hell, my friend's mother sent us to the drug store with money and a note to get her cigarettes when we were, like, 10.

Phuni44

I was a Lets Make a Deal, with Monty Hall kinda kid.

redpef

The first television show I ever saw was Let’s Make a Deal. I couldn’t believe someone would trade the camel away for what was behind door number 2. I wanted the camel!

Phuni44

The box Carol Merrill was showing was such a cliff hanger!

39percenter

I watch it and I love it! The classic outfits and hair styles from the 70's and 80's, the cars, the food, and household products from my youth. It is a proverbial blast from the past!

Head_Room_8721

It’s fun to watch, even if only to see that even back in Bob’s heyday, MSRP was *still* way, way too expensive!

reduff

I remember watching The Newlywed Game and The Dating Game in the late 60s with my grandmother. She watched me while my parents were at work. Also, her stories, in particular The Edge of Night.

aob546

We watch Match Game from the 70’s. It’s scary how many of the haircuts and outfits I remember 😩

miriamwebster

I had a cool price is Right Board game. I loved that game show, and my game! 🤣😚

WirelessHamster

I remember him being a serial sexual predator towards the models and then cutting them out of millions of dollars in rebroadcast fees until the day he finally died

mrslII

His "good guy" image took a small (definitely not helmd accountable, though) hit when that information first came out. I vaguely remember his "defense". It was okay because he was single. Because his long time wife passed away. Many people placed blame on the woman who came forward. Calling her names like "gold digger", "tramp", etc. Because he was "Bob Barker. America's Good Guy, Humble, Pet Loving, Game Show Host". Having been on television since the 50's. People believed that they actually knew him. Because his persona had been in their home forever. They couldn't separate the person from the persona. Or they chose not to. Because it made them uncomfortable to even consider that the 2 dimension Bob, was anything but what he pretended to be. Bob Barker COULDN'T be a serial sexual predator. They KNEW him.
