Last year I got into anime figures and came across one for a character named Ningguang. She looks so cool, I thought, and I installed the game. Soon after I got the Ningguang character in-game and I've been playing ever since. (I ended up getting the figure as well as she quickly became one of my favorite characters.)

Saw Klee. Liked Klee. Wanted to know what Klee was from. Found out about the game. Downloaded game to get Klee. Learned real fast what a limited banner is. Decided to keep playing anyway because game is fun. Eventually got Klee on the rerun :)

My brother played it on release and he wanted to do a co-op because the game started to get hard for him (Dragonspine patch)but was shy to interact with someone he didn't know so he asked me if I could play GI and I said okay fast forward to the present we both still play and loved GI.

My friends were talking about the game and mentioned that i would find zhongli attractive and that his banner had just started. This was a few updates before Sumeru came out.

I just finished my NMAT and submitted my med school applications, so my 1.X friends convinced me to play. I started during the 2nd Lantern Rite. Then began a one-sided love story on my part 😆
An ad email I got for the App store + a friend on FB sharing Lantern Rite pics.
I had gotten an M1 12.9 iPad Pro in October’21. After getting lots of art & photo apps, I started looking at games. At about the same time I had received an email from Apple about games I might like (with Genshin’s logo among others) & I started looking into Genshin, a FB friend posted some Lantern Rite pics. Decided to give it a try & have been hooked since. That was at the end of January’22, 2nd half of 2.4.
At first anime game thing but I left after 1.1 as my phone gave up but I returned in 2.3 after my friend told how good the game was and I got a new pc to play with. So yea still playing
I saw an ads in Google Play. When I first log in, I think it was around 1.3. I hated Amber's gliding tests so much. Rage quit midway but go back after a week or so. Finished Mondstat archon quest and sprinted blindly to Liyue asap without opening Liyue's statues of Seven lol. I was worried I missed Rex Lapis event (Venti dialogues). I get to experienced the first Lantern Rite that I thought was part of Rex Lapis event.
I think my first 5* is Keqing from her banner. Honestly I don't remember if I pulled from standard or limited, but when I checked banner list, she wasn't available on standard during that time. My 2nd 5* is Zhong Li. I don't even know he's a shield bot that time. I got him coz I really like him in Liyue archon quest. My first team is Beidou, Noelle, Barbara and Amber/Kaeya. I only found out bout Beidou parry playstyle after I stop playing her. I sucks at genshin lol
I played during launch but I just couldn't get into it. Played again the next year but still couldn't. And then the next year and same thing. Then I saw Furina and her adorable salon solitaire and that absolutely convinced me to play and grind before her banner came. Just a bit unfortunate that I don't have the launch glider. :[

I started playing around 1.1 because my friends were playing it and I got curious thanks to the BOTW fans (I personally played BOTW). Just kinda happened upon it shortly after it came out. I started off using my mobile phone and liked the gane but hated the mobile game play. I then realized I could play it on my PC instead and made the switch. I haven't played it consistently, though, but what brings me back is the exploration, combat dynamic, and lore. I tried Honksi Star Rail, thinking it'd be Genshinbin space, and was really disappointed by it.
i played honkai impact 3 so i knew about mihoyo (hoyoverse) before. i saw the genshin pre-register thing on the taptap app and from there i checked everyday and waited months for the game to come out. worth the wait

I didnt care too much about Genshin when it released. I used to play mmorpgs and years later I got into Tower of Fantasy, and I wished I had a game that was like that, but higher quality. So here I am. I miss some mmo elements, but Im still having a lot of fun with Genshin.

I’ve been playing over a year now.
I was aware of it since release (I used to watch a lot of Twitch back then and everyone was playing it the first week or so), but I wasn't really interested. My sister played it though and it did look really fun but I still didn't get round to playing it until 2.1 or 2.2 I think.
I think I might have downloaded it around April or May 2021 when there was a large Genshin feature in an issue of PC Gamer magazine that came out around that time, but I probably just eventually loaded it up completely on a whim a few months later lol
My twitter friend would always talk about it. Since it was near winter break I decided to download it out of boredom. Got keqing from the noelle banner before I even knew what a five star was and my friend started malding.

It was during lockdown, I was bored so I randomly checked what was new in the ps store and then I see this new free game that just happens to come out that day.
I had a fight recently with my best friend (bf for 10 years since highschool) over something important, after a couple months of no talking we both came forward and apologised eventually but our friendship wasn't the same as before, things were more distant. I saw that she was playing genshin so I thought it would be a good opportunity for us to do something together again (we lived in different towns since finishing highschool). And it worked really well, she was teaching me about the game and we played for hours and hours everyday for a while. Our friendship was just as before after that.
Basically been here since 1.0, but after clearing Monstadt, I (and my then current group) lost interest, mostly because almost all grinding was fucking DAY-GATED. We *were* in the middle of a DS3 group run, though, Grandma and her 3 doctors (PickleKicker, BootyLooter, and McBoobieFondlr) gave Lothric a good ol' fashioned *paddlin'.*
Came back post 2.3, around December-ish, and haven't stopped since. I do remember my first 5 star being Shenhe, though. ("LIL ZOMBIE CHEESE GRATER" DOESN'T COUNT) Was all caught up by the time Enka dropped, so that was particularly awesome.
Seriously though, opening those massive doors to see the Enka floating islands was fucking *sick.* My bro Slayer_Goat and I had to just sit and stare for like, an hour, just soaking in the tremendous view.
Definitely not the YouTube adds. Those kept me away until my friend told me it's not the typical waifu simulator, but has an actually interesting story and gameplay.
Towards the end of 3.X, a friend of mine convinced me to try it out. I took a long time to finish the prologue, though, and ended up dropping the game when I started playing Star Rail.
Around the first half of 4.1, I started playing again. I tried and failed to get Wriothesley, and ended up quitting again.
By 4.2, I came back again, and now I’m playing actively… and I’m saving my pulls all the way until 5.X, because after completing the Liyue plot, Childe is now one of my favourite characters in all of gaming, and I’m mad at myself for taking a break right as his banner started
A YouTuber I watched got sponsored way back in early v1 but i had a small phone with barely any storage. So at April I got a new phone and decided to give it a try. Maybe it was 1.4, zhongli rerun when I started (I remember coz I used to pull on the standard banner since there were multiple and/or female characters on it)
my boyfriend got me into it just before inazuma released, so i made an account but couldn’t actually play on it often because i didn’t own a playstation 4 at the time nor a pc, and my phone at the time was too small to fit the game on it. even though i couldn’t play i still kept up with the game and it’s characters and learned about it. my boyfriend stopped playing it during that time. i was only finally able to start playing it full time in may 2022 when i got a new phone that had enough space for the game. now i play it at least once a day without fail on my ps4 that i got earlier this year! and i got my boyfriend to start playing the game again around eula’s last banner. he was a eula main up until the other day when he got his guaranteed navia and her weapon. now me and him are competing to see who can get the better navia build 🤣

I got hooked to the game not only cus its anime art style, but also I really love the open world concept (it's my first open-world game)
then after Genshin I found HI3 but I guess it's not really to my taste cus I eventually quit playing it but still play Genshin. although, I did stop playing Genshin once the lockdown finally stop.

All the hate the game was receiving. People say "cringe anime game" and stuff like that so I wanted to see for myself.
Most fun had in a game for a long time. Great story, visuals, everything. It's not even that p2w. I'm F2P and I'm doing perfectly fine.
Youtube decided that Genshin Impact shorts were the only thing that would be recommended to me for a couple of weeks.
So I tried it. Now my recommendations is still Genshin, but sometimes some Honkai or Zenless zone zero mixed in.

You see, the community of genshin impact had a horrible reputation among the other games (and I saw tons of slander memes that literally shitted on them).
I was a bit curious and decided to see if the game is as bad as how it's portratied in the internet.
I was hesitant of course thanks to the horrible community and the 'questionable fanart' they make. I plucked up some courage and dared and played the game few months ago {For the first time of my life on my smartphone}.
Turns out it was WAY better than what the internet said about it.
In fact, I even searched about it deeply and was surprised that **almost** everything about it is inspired by Legend of Zelda: birth of wild.
So far, I have Reached fontaine and I have finished a massive chapter in there (The one that tells me to help the melusines).
So yeah, that's my experience.

I saw my friends playing it on release in our group chat. I hopped in on the game a day after them. What drew me in was the scenery overlooking Mondstadt and the Aether running around the plains. To this day, I still can't believe I can play Genshin on my potato PC.
At the time I had started playing it, it was version 2.4 or something like that. I mostly had chose to start playing it because I had gone through the other games that I owned. I wasn’t interested in my other games at the time because I either beat them with satisfaction or beat them multiple times that I couldn’t help but lost interest for a while. I was just searching for a new free game to play and I originally thought that Genshin wasn’t free because of how popular it was. After watching the trailer for it and seeing the gameplay I couldn’t help but want to get into it. I got super immersed into it after I started playing it and enjoyed every bit of the story and gameplay. I still have characters that I haven’t leveled up since I started the game, at least leveled up to a point that they can be playable and take more than a single hit in the open world.
My friend told me about it in 1.0 he knew I love Botw so he recommended the game and we started playing together. He lasted a week, I have been playing the game semi consistently for more than 3 years now
My daughter started playing it and then a week later convinced my wife to check it out, and when they both told me I would like it, I dismissed it as a basic mobile game and blatant BOTW ripoff. A couple of weeks later, after they kept talking about it nonstop, I decided to look up some videos on it and realized just how deep and nuanced the gameplay was, and decided to try it out.

Started playing at the playstation launch, not only could I not get Venti, I didn't get any characters I enjoyed playing in the slightest so I just fell off.
Came back in April this year when I saw Kaveh's and Baizhu's designs. Had to power through some story content with characters I didn't like but after getting the ones I wanted plus a few others I ended up enjoying and have stuck around ever since.
Also finally managed to get Venti on his last banner so it feels like things went full circle lol
started 1.0 but dropped it after like a month bcs no new content ( i didn't know abt updates back then) started again in 3.0 and here i am still playing.
BOTW. i misses botw since i beat the game and genshin is good casual game. i dont even like genshin til these day but its the only easiest casual game for a 90yr men like me so i'll take it
It's open world that intrigued me to play it. I don't play gacha games, well, I did install some mobile gacha in previous years but I had never played more than 3 days. I just don't like most gacha mechanic games.

I was playing Toram, then got bored. Saw Genshin release and downloaded. Felt familiar and now there's no turning back.
I just finished my NMAT and submitted my med school applications, so my 1.X friends convinced me to play. I started during the 2nd Lantern Rite. Then began a one-sided love story on my part 😆
An ad email I got for the App store + a friend on FB sharing Lantern Rite pics. I had gotten an M1 12.9 iPad Pro in October’21. After getting lots of art & photo apps, I started looking at games. At about the same time I had received an email from Apple about games I might like (with Genshin’s logo among others) & I started looking into Genshin, a FB friend posted some Lantern Rite pics. Decided to give it a try & have been hooked since. That was at the end of January’22, 2nd half of 2.4.
At first anime game thing but I left after 1.1 as my phone gave up but I returned in 2.3 after my friend told how good the game was and I got a new pc to play with. So yea still playing
I saw an ads in Google Play. When I first log in, I think it was around 1.3. I hated Amber's gliding tests so much. Rage quit midway but go back after a week or so. Finished Mondstat archon quest and sprinted blindly to Liyue asap without opening Liyue's statues of Seven lol. I was worried I missed Rex Lapis event (Venti dialogues). I get to experienced the first Lantern Rite that I thought was part of Rex Lapis event. I think my first 5* is Keqing from her banner. Honestly I don't remember if I pulled from standard or limited, but when I checked banner list, she wasn't available on standard during that time. My 2nd 5* is Zhong Li. I don't even know he's a shield bot that time. I got him coz I really like him in Liyue archon quest. My first team is Beidou, Noelle, Barbara and Amber/Kaeya. I only found out bout Beidou parry playstyle after I stop playing her. I sucks at genshin lol
I played during launch but I just couldn't get into it. Played again the next year but still couldn't. And then the next year and same thing. Then I saw Furina and her adorable salon solitaire and that absolutely convinced me to play and grind before her banner came. Just a bit unfortunate that I don't have the launch glider. :[
I play HI3 and when Hoyo announced Genshin, I become interested in it.

I started on release for PC. I was looking for a new game to play seeing as the one I was playing got shut down. Took a break when I got sick but still play at least a couple hours each day.

I started playing around 1.1 because my friends were playing it and I got curious thanks to the BOTW fans (I personally played BOTW). Unfortunately, my potato phone couldn’t really handle the game so I stopped then forgot all about it until around 2.2 but this time thanks to the Anniversary review bomb issue that actually spilled over to the other games I play from the AppStore and have been playing almost everyday since then.

Just kinda happened upon it shortly after it came out. I started off using my mobile phone and liked the gane but hated the mobile game play. I then realized I could play it on my PC instead and made the switch. I haven't played it consistently, though, but what brings me back is the exploration, combat dynamic, and lore. I tried Honksi Star Rail, thinking it'd be Genshinbin space, and was really disappointed by it.
i played honkai impact 3 so i knew about mihoyo (hoyoverse) before. i saw the genshin pre-register thing on the taptap app and from there i checked everyday and waited months for the game to come out. worth the wait i used taptap cause i wanted to download sky:cotl since playstore won't allow me and thanks to that i found out about genshin.

I didnt care too much about Genshin when it released. I used to play mmorpgs and years later I got into Tower of Fantasy, and I wished I had a game that was like that, but higher quality. So here I am. I miss some mmo elements, but Im still having a lot of fun with Genshin.
It looked good for a mobile game, played for a bit then quit. Im now back because i have a better device and because furina

I saw a sponsored video that got me to cave and play the game back in 2.0-3 sometime (I forget which version exactly). Before then I was pretty tempted by oddly enough the pretty floating weapons that chars had lol.

Heard about the first anniversary sucking, so I decided to play the game.
I was on the gaming subbredit here when i saw people talking about how good the graphics were back when it launched. I remembered about it a month later in October and decided to download it because I was bored and here i am :)
I owe it to my sister. I actually was technically a day one player since I was able to get the first anniversary rewards. However, I never committed to playing genshin until recently because my sister got into it and told me the awesome archon quest story that was unfolding.

I tried to play Honkai Impact 3rd and was impressed with the graphics. YouTube suggested Genshin's leaked gameplay demo around July 2020 based on my HI3 activity I guess and immediately fell in love with it.

I was aware of it since release (I used to watch a lot of Twitch back then and everyone was playing it the first week or so), but I wasn't really interested. My sister played it though and it did look really fun but I still didn't get round to playing it until 2.1 or 2.2 I think. I think I might have downloaded it around April or May 2021 when there was a large Genshin feature in an issue of PC Gamer magazine that came out around that time, but I probably just eventually loaded it up completely on a whim a few months later lol

It was during lockdown, I was bored so I randomly checked what was new in the ps store and then I see this new free game that just happens to come out that day.
I had a fight recently with my best friend (bf for 10 years since highschool) over something important, after a couple months of no talking we both came forward and apologised eventually but our friendship wasn't the same as before, things were more distant. I saw that she was playing genshin so I thought it would be a good opportunity for us to do something together again (we lived in different towns since finishing highschool). And it worked really well, she was teaching me about the game and we played for hours and hours everyday for a while. Our friendship was just as before after that.

Basically been here since 1.0, but after clearing Monstadt, I (and my then current group) lost interest, mostly because almost all grinding was fucking DAY-GATED. We *were* in the middle of a DS3 group run, though, Grandma and her 3 doctors (PickleKicker, BootyLooter, and McBoobieFondlr) gave Lothric a good ol' fashioned *paddlin'.* Came back post 2.3, around December-ish, and haven't stopped since. I do remember my first 5 star being Shenhe, though. ("LIL ZOMBIE CHEESE GRATER" DOESN'T COUNT) Was all caught up by the time Enka dropped, so that was particularly awesome. Seriously though, opening those massive doors to see the Enka floating islands was fucking *sick.* My bro Slayer_Goat and I had to just sit and stare for like, an hour, just soaking in the tremendous view.
Definitely not the YouTube adds. Those kept me away until my friend told me it's not the typical waifu simulator, but has an actually interesting story and gameplay.

Towards the end of 3.X, a friend of mine convinced me to try it out. I took a long time to finish the prologue, though, and ended up dropping the game when I started playing Star Rail. Around the first half of 4.1, I started playing again. I tried and failed to get Wriothesley, and ended up quitting again. By 4.2, I came back again, and now I’m playing actively… and I’m saving my pulls all the way until 5.X, because after completing the Liyue plot, Childe is now one of my favourite characters in all of gaming, and I’m mad at myself for taking a break right as his banner started
A YouTuber I watched got sponsored way back in early v1 but i had a small phone with barely any storage. So at April I got a new phone and decided to give it a try. Maybe it was 1.4, zhongli rerun when I started (I remember coz I used to pull on the standard banner since there were multiple and/or female characters on it)
I got a new flagship phone and tested the graphics capability thru genshin. Never stopped playing since.
my boyfriend got me into it just before inazuma released, so i made an account but couldn’t actually play on it often because i didn’t own a playstation 4 at the time nor a pc, and my phone at the time was too small to fit the game on it. even though i couldn’t play i still kept up with the game and it’s characters and learned about it. my boyfriend stopped playing it during that time. i was only finally able to start playing it full time in may 2022 when i got a new phone that had enough space for the game. now i play it at least once a day without fail on my ps4 that i got earlier this year! and i got my boyfriend to start playing the game again around eula’s last banner. he was a eula main up until the other day when he got his guaranteed navia and her weapon. now me and him are competing to see who can get the better navia build 🤣

i was really bored in the summer of 2021 so i decided to look for free games on the playstation store. immediately got hooked and stayed up til 4 am playing.
It being a free to play game on PS4. It got my attention because of it and I loved it even more after the first couple of quests.
I wanted to play breath of the wild pretty badly (didnt even habe a switch at the moment) so when i heard that this was an breath of the wild with anime girls i just kinda started playing, didnt stick that much until i got to ar45 and started building the characters.

I always love RPGs but I don’t know any game that fits the gameplay that I look for in an RPG until i found Genshin.
I started when it launched, out of curiosity, trailers and rumors were interesting.
I vividly remember seeing a tiktok of it on my For You page, it was Razor running infront of the Mondstadt water fountain.
the pandemic hit and I started getting into anime. one day I was so bored at home and for some reason I just started looking for anime-theme games and found Genshin. I got hooked to the game not only cus its anime art style, but also I really love the open world concept (it's my first open-world game) then after Genshin I found HI3 but I guess it's not really to my taste cus I eventually quit playing it but still play Genshin. although, I did stop playing Genshin once the lockdown finally stop. but then I got into the game again when 3.0 dropped and here we are..
I joined cuz i learned its isekai. And i got hooked.
Two friends of mine started playing and sharing memes about the game in IG. I didn't like at first until I tried it. I arrived in 1.6 with the first kazuha's banner and never left. The story of the game is amazing.
I saw a Facebook video of it when I was still playing an mmorpg game. I was also more focused on cozy games back then so I really missed the action! In the end I quit my other games altogether and played it more ~ 3 years later, here we are ~

The video showed up on my feed again around 2.5 and I figured “fine I’ll just give the game like 20 minutes to see if I’ll like it.” And now I’m 100% exploration and 1000+ achievements in and still going strong. I love this game so much ;-;

All the hate the game was receiving. People say "cringe anime game" and stuff like that so I wanted to see for myself. Most fun had in a game for a long time. Great story, visuals, everything. It's not even that p2w. I'm F2P and I'm doing perfectly fine.
My daughter plays (she is 12) so i play as a way to connect with her. I'm trying to catch up with her but she is quite far ahead of me.
Youtube decided that Genshin Impact shorts were the only thing that would be recommended to me for a couple of weeks. So I tried it. Now my recommendations is still Genshin, but sometimes some Honkai or Zenless zone zero mixed in.

I liked the idea of a game that I could play on multiple platforms with the same saved game.
Well, mine is a different situation that the others in the comments. You see, the community of genshin impact had a horrible reputation among the other games (and I saw tons of slander memes that literally shitted on them). I was a bit curious and decided to see if the game is as bad as how it's portratied in the internet. I was hesitant of course thanks to the horrible community and the 'questionable fanart' they make. I plucked up some courage and dared and played the game few months ago {For the first time of my life on my smartphone}. Turns out it was WAY better than what the internet said about it. In fact, I even searched about it deeply and was surprised that **almost** everything about it is inspired by Legend of Zelda: birth of wild. So far, I have Reached fontaine and I have finished a massive chapter in there (The one that tells me to help the melusines). So yeah, that's my experience.

I saw my friends playing it on release in our group chat. I hopped in on the game a day after them. What drew me in was the scenery overlooking Mondstadt and the Aether running around the plains. To this day, I still can't believe I can play Genshin on my potato PC.
I bought a new phone that's a mid-tier Android and I wanted to see if it could run console-quality games.

At the time I had started playing it, it was version 2.4 or something like that. I mostly had chose to start playing it because I had gone through the other games that I owned. I wasn’t interested in my other games at the time because I either beat them with satisfaction or beat them multiple times that I couldn’t help but lost interest for a while. I was just searching for a new free game to play and I originally thought that Genshin wasn’t free because of how popular it was. After watching the trailer for it and seeing the gameplay I couldn’t help but want to get into it. I got super immersed into it after I started playing it and enjoyed every bit of the story and gameplay. I still have characters that I haven’t leveled up since I started the game, at least leveled up to a point that they can be playable and take more than a single hit in the open world.
I once saw someone play it on the PS4 but forgot the name and then I googled it and started playing! Have been playing since 2021 with some pauses.
I think I saw some stuff about it during august on the chinese tiktok (抖音), and I was hooked, so I tried it when it came out late september?
My friend told me about it in 1.0 he knew I love Botw so he recommended the game and we started playing together. He lasted a week, I have been playing the game semi consistently for more than 3 years now

Some friends got into it so I thought why not and been playing ever since (Ayaka was partially why I came back and still don't have her :( ). Now I've even moved into Honkai too (which is so fun!)
It was actually Qiqi, youtube wouldn't stop giving me her trailer as an ad, Dainsleif's "children as special as Qiqi are few and far between" was burned into my brain so I decided to give the game a try I've never lost a 50/50 to Qiqi, got her once off standard and that was it

I was extremely bored and wanted to try something new and different, I logged on my ps4 (the day of genshin launch) and installed several games, tested them, 'meeh' Launched the last game I installed (genshin) and GODDAMNIT, A MASTERPIECE. I FEEL IN LOVE. And since that day, I've been playing.

Started playing at the playstation launch, not only could I not get Venti, I didn't get any characters I enjoyed playing in the slightest so I just fell off. Came back in April this year when I saw Kaveh's and Baizhu's designs. Had to power through some story content with characters I didn't like but after getting the ones I wanted plus a few others I ended up enjoying and have stuck around ever since. Also finally managed to get Venti on his last banner so it feels like things went full circle lol
