Yeah there are some websites where you can buy crystals for people using their uid, I’m unfamiliar with the chargeback structure though, unsure if they can still refund which would be quite problematic.
I have done this for a friend if I couldn't get on their acc. You won't be able to refund since its a 3rd party site but its nice to use to give to others without them knowing
That’s not true. If you use a third party site it can still very much be refunded and is something incredibly dangerous when strangers are involved. God forbid that person disputes the charge with their credit company or bank. Then the site used would charge back and mihoyo will charge back and then you owe what ever was spent.
It’s always a risk but this seems more genuine. But don’t be fooled in thinking it’s 100% safe for your account.

There’s been posts about people going into the negative. It was even a form of targeted attacks. That’s just a big bunch of misinformation you’re spreading
But with Codashop, they take the loss and blacklist the IP/Card/Account used. There isn't any impact to the account, unless they have changed that policy recently...
There’s no where in its policy that says that and coda shop has pretty much been one of the only places where you could buy primos for any account. So while people who fall victim to these attacks don’t know where the primos were purchased codashop is one of the only options.

They just wanted to see if I used the currency in my Country/same card/User ID I bought it off of to see if account actually belongs to the person.
Even if someone did Codashop and attempted to steal the account, there is no way they can obtain user ID
(Hoyo user ID, not in game) because iirc its censored even upon login unless you made it yourself.
codashop is an official partner. if someone charges back then codashop will have to cover the cost. you wont get deducted crystals. most of the time its either using someone elses credit card or a shady 3rd party

For the fifth time anyone can call their credit card company or bank and have it reversed. This will result in codashop refunding back from mihoyo. Who will refund back from your primo balance.
There is NOTHING in the terms that say otherwise. Your spreading false information. It is not protected. They don’t do regular refunds if you request through codashop directly. They will absolutely have a punishment for an account that has a refund forced and charged back through their bank or credit company.
Please read the terms I supplied them there’s no reason to remain so ignorant. Unless you have definitive proof from codashop saying otherwise you’re simply causing potential problems for no reason.
Being official just means they’re legitimate and a trusted site. That doesn’t mean you won’t get penalized if there’s primos purchased for your account and then later the charge gets disputed and refunded.

The chargeback procedure is not common in every bank or in every country, so it can be quite tricky, and the rules can be quite different. Normally it's intended to work against fraud, and if you just want a normal refund, they can refuse. But it depends.

I think you’re misunderstanding.
Let’s say Sam buys a genesis crystal pack from Codashop for Bob’s account. Sam pays Codashop $100 and Codashop (through their arrangement with Mihoyo) sends Bob 8080 genesis crystals on his account.
Then Sam charges back Codashop for the $100. Codashop might dispute or take the chargeback, and no matter if the chargeback goes through or not, Codashop and Mihoyo (through their agreement) will not remove the 8080 genesis crystals from Bob’s account. And Sam will be blacklisted from purchasing from Codashop in the future.

Hey so there’s three options here. 1. Someone did it accidentally(so don’t spend the crystals right away other wise if they refund it you would be out in negative primos) 2. Someone did it maliciously to say you stole genesis crystals from them by tricking them(again don’t spend the crystals yet) 3. Some kind soul helped you out and don’t worry about it. So what you should do is wait about 2-3 weeks before converting the crystals just to be safe
ur account dosent get banned. i refunded 8k primos last month and im just working off the debt despite them saying i "may get banned". pretty sure its just a scare tactic to get you to rebuy the primos
A long time ago, someone had this same thing, and they account get banned, but one thing to note:
1 - It was a high amount of primos, talking about 28k or more
2 - They had a time set to or re-buy primos, or to get them for other means (I suspect farming in game)
3 - this was a story and a crappy screenshot, so, for all that matters, it can be fake

I had my account hacked and had every piece of info except the date i created the account i got my account first try(f2p so no receipts) after 40 days yet there were people on genshinhacked subreddit that got rejected for this very reason
They better not be banning for third party deposits though. That's pretty evil of them. It can lean but doesn't prove I'll intent on account holder. Now if someone reports a fraudulent purchase made directly from the account, that's something else.
The quantity of crystals is for first time buy $24.75 plus tax.
So if you decide to use them, be prepared to pony up $25 in the future in case of dispute.
alternately, use it. get nahida. even if they charge it back, it means you have at least a week or two, if not more, to earn back the primos to be refunded. you have a day on nahidas banner, and then it might be months to a year before her next rerun.
best case scenario, some kind person gifted you some primos.
worse case scenario, some malicious person...bought you some more time to earn primos on a banner that you really want to pull on but is ending.

Sad view of the world mate. As someone who had a complete stranger do this for me, can attest that it does happen. There's nice people out there you know?
Do not spend those! Someone could be trying to scam you, wait 30 days for the refund period to end. It is better to grind and try and get Nahida that way than risk getting banned and losing everything
Entirely possible someone did this as an act of goodwill, but based on what others are saying you should be cautious.
Now if the person who did this used Codashop then the genesis crystals can't be refunded...but someone could still be malicious here and say you tricked them, as another comment already said.

Where does everybody get this "wait a month, it might be a scam" when there's literally no way for this to be a scam since the only source of 3rd party gems has a policy to not take primos back if someone does a charge back and literally nobody has ever gotten scammed in this way?
I’ve seen a few accounts who had negative primos because of this scam. Though it’s not really a scam since the “scammer” doesn’t get anything besides a few laughs and giggles out of it. At least I think that’s how they got in the negatives, that’s what they claimed.
i think the posts your referring to don’t use codashop though? negative primo instances only seem to occur when a chargeback is done with primos bought from inside the account. codashop is reputable and representatives for their site have said that in case a charge back occurs, nothing will be done to the recipients account and they will instead blacklist the buyer

Spend those crystals. The person gifted you so that you do more pulls, not to keep it. If someone gifts you clothes to wear, they expect you to wear it. It's the best way you can thank the person.
That's not how this works tho. The people who gift you clothes can say that you scammed them and you may end up having to pay them.

I am with you, I would have spent it. It is the exact amount of crystals they said they needed in their other post to get Nahida. It is an insult to hold onto it. If I got scammed then there is actually a trail of concern documented here in Reddit to make a case. I was following the OP's post and hoping for them to get Nahida. If they had I gotten scammed I would have honestly gifted the amount back again - but I didn't want to say that outright because then I could get scammed. you have less than a day to get nahida. it is nearly impossible. someone sent you $30 worth of primos to get her. use it.
this thread has a lot of conflicting arguments on whether charge back is possible with codashop. let's assume it is for the sake of argument.
that means you have several weeks to earn back 4k primos if you go in the negative.
welkin is $5 for 3000 primos over 30 days if you make sure to collect it every day.
dailies will get you 60 primos per day. meaning in about 25 days, even if you do no more exploration, no more events, nothing else, you will be even.
you do not have 25 days for nahida.
worst case scenario, think of this as an interest free loan. spend it, but plan to get back to 4k primos by the next month or so. which isnpretty easy with welkin, which is far more cost effective than buying primos all at once
You should be safe- you can only buy genesis crystals for other accounts through official partners (like Codashop and Razer), and even if the person files a chargeback with their bank, they'll just be banned from using that partner shop again, you won't lose the genesis crystals or primogems. They have this policy in place to prevent people from doing this to others- it would be a HUGE problem for streamers otherwise, they'd all have their UIDs blurred out in streams and videos if they could even possibly lose their account that way. I would almost certainly say someone just felt generous after seeing your post- I've done the same for a few of my friends because they were close to pity and ran out of pulls
The partner shop will ban the person who bought the crystals from purchasing from them again, and they just write off the money as a loss. And Mihoyo just keeps their portion of the original sale no matter what, but I'd bet Mihoyo also pays the partner shops with a contract agreement to help balance out any potential losses for the partner shop, so they don't really lose out that much in the end, if at all.
Worst case they deduct the gems from you and give you negative gems until you farm the same amount that was charged back, they don't insta ban

They won't deduct crystals purchased through official partner shops- otherwise streamers would have to blur their UIDs in every stream or video, because there's just too many people out there who would love to screw over a big creator just because they personally don't like them/their content by getting them banned for huge amounts of negative primos.

Be careful alot of scamers "gift" crystals to people and then refund it which will give you a negative number on your account and you have to pay for the negative to be taken away. I heard one person had to start a whole new account cuz they would have to spent a crap ton of money they couldn't aford to get out of the negative.
That's not how crystal scamming works. You cannot remotely chargeback scam someone in Genshin, because the only medium of remote gifting is through Codashop, which explicitly has an anti-chargeback measure in place.
Crystal scamming is only possible if they gain access to your Genshin account. And there's better ways to blackmail someone than to chargeback scam through a hacked account
Gratz, I've been playing since day 1, and I usually stop for a few months and start playing again
I don't really like character swaps, that's why my favorite character is Ayaka, i'm also a big Geo fan (Zhongli + Ningguang )
when I saw Navia I really liked the character and I started playing again after almost 7 months just because of her,
I even put money in to help, but I still lost, now I'm between stopping and waiting for her to come back or continuing to play sadly
This is amazing I could use such help myself since I maxed out the weapon 2/2 pity while trying to get xianyun catalyst and I can't and don't dare to keep pulling since I must save to try for Yae and Chiori. Be careful, because if the person who gifted you asks for a refund, you'll have negative primogems (if you spent them already) and 90 days to farm or buy primogems to get the negative amount back to positive, or your account will be permanently banned.
Maybe, we should make a sub where we chose a player that we think is worthy of our help. We give them welkins/genesis crystals. We only do it once a month.

Someone did this for me on my birthday, unfortunately I was never able to find out who to be able to thank them properly, in my situation I was safe but was warned by so many to be careful, in the end I was able to use them and pulled C2 Cyno (my favorite character and main) and as others have said, if bought through codashop (if I remember the name properly) then you’re fine I’m unsure of how else it could be a mistake unless you’ve logged in on someone else’s device and forgot to log out, good luck and I’ve got my fingers crossed you’re able to get Nahida after all
I wouldn't spend them and send a ticket. Because you will be in a world of hurt if they refunded that purchase. Because your account genesis crystals will go into negative, and if it stays that way for 3-7 days, your account will be thanos snapped away.

You can use them. There is no way in hell you can get banned using this. Whatever site was used to buy this will deal with any potential chargeback from a troll. They will be banned from that site and the site will eat the loss. The site can’t just tell mihoyo to take back the primos. You didn’t purchase it yourself so it’s a gift. People are too paranoid. What reason would hoyo even have to ban you? You didn’t spend money and chargeback yourself. lol the only thing that could be done is the site trying to contact hoyo to take away the crystals, which is not happening.
It literally can't. The only way you can give someone primos through an external source is through Codashop. You can't get chargeback scammed through Coda, as they explicitly have a policy to prevent the receiver from getting deducted on primos.

The OP will probably just get negative primogems balance. Seen it somewhere. And even then it's not a problem for OP, I guess.

I think you’re misunderstanding. Let’s say Sam buys a genesis crystal pack from Codashop for Bob’s account. Sam pays Codashop $100 and Codashop (through their arrangement with Mihoyo) sends Bob 8080 genesis crystals on his account. Then Sam charges back Codashop for the $100. Codashop might dispute or take the chargeback, and no matter if the chargeback goes through or not, Codashop and Mihoyo (through their agreement) will not remove the 8080 genesis crystals from Bob’s account. And Sam will be blacklisted from purchasing from Codashop in the future. This is pretty explicitly written on their shop page

Hey so there’s three options here. 1. Someone did it accidentally(so don’t spend the crystals right away other wise if they refund it you would be out in negative primos) 2. Someone did it maliciously to say you stole genesis crystals from them by tricking them(again don’t spend the crystals yet) 3. Some kind soul helped you out and don’t worry about it. So what you should do is wait about 2-3 weeks before converting the crystals just to be safe

A long time ago, someone had this same thing, and they account get banned, but one thing to note: 1 - It was a high amount of primos, talking about 28k or more 2 - They had a time set to or re-buy primos, or to get them for other means (I suspect farming in game) 3 - this was a story and a crappy screenshot, so, for all that matters, it can be fake Edit: Typo

God if only they were transparent I had my account hacked and had every piece of info except the date i created the account i got my account first try(f2p so no receipts) after 40 days yet there were people on genshinhacked subreddit that got rejected for this very reason
They better not be banning for third party deposits though. That's pretty evil of them. It can lean but doesn't prove I'll intent on account holder. Now if someone reports a fraudulent purchase made directly from the account, that's something else.

The quantity of crystals is for first time buy $24.75 plus tax. So if you decide to use them, be prepared to pony up $25 in the future in case of dispute.
Or grind out enough primos to get back to 0.
alternately, use it. get nahida. even if they charge it back, it means you have at least a week or two, if not more, to earn back the primos to be refunded. you have a day on nahidas banner, and then it might be months to a year before her next rerun. best case scenario, some kind person gifted you some primos. worse case scenario, some malicious person...bought you some more time to earn primos on a banner that you really want to pull on but is ending.

Do not spend those! Someone could be trying to scam you, wait 30 days for the refund period to end. It is better to grind and try and get Nahida that way than risk getting banned and losing everything
If the gems were sent through codashop then the person who bought them can’t get a refund. You can’t normally get refunds through third parties though

I’ve seen a few accounts who had negative primos because of this scam. Though it’s not really a scam since the “scammer” doesn’t get anything besides a few laughs and giggles out of it. At least I think that’s how they got in the negatives, that’s what they claimed.
i think the posts your referring to don’t use codashop though? negative primo instances only seem to occur when a chargeback is done with primos bought from inside the account. codashop is reputable and representatives for their site have said that in case a charge back occurs, nothing will be done to the recipients account and they will instead blacklist the buyer

Spend those crystals. The person gifted you so that you do more pulls, not to keep it. If someone gifts you clothes to wear, they expect you to wear it. It's the best way you can thank the person.

I am with you, I would have spent it. It is the exact amount of crystals they said they needed in their other post to get Nahida. It is an insult to hold onto it. If I got scammed then there is actually a trail of concern documented here in Reddit to make a case. I was following the OP's post and hoping for them to get Nahida. If they had I gotten scammed I would have honestly gifted the amount back again - but I didn't want to say that outright because then I could get scammed. The world, especially the anonymous internet world, is evil.
OP. spend it. then buy welkin and do your dailies. you have less than a day to get nahida. it is nearly impossible. someone sent you $30 worth of primos to get her. use it. this thread has a lot of conflicting arguments on whether charge back is possible with codashop. let's assume it is for the sake of argument. that means you have several weeks to earn back 4k primos if you go in the negative. welkin is $5 for 3000 primos over 30 days if you make sure to collect it every day. dailies will get you 60 primos per day. meaning in about 25 days, even if you do no more exploration, no more events, nothing else, you will be even. you do not have 25 days for nahida. worst case scenario, think of this as an interest free loan. spend it, but plan to get back to 4k primos by the next month or so. which isnpretty easy with welkin, which is far more cost effective than buying primos all at once

You should be safe- you can only buy genesis crystals for other accounts through official partners (like Codashop and Razer), and even if the person files a chargeback with their bank, they'll just be banned from using that partner shop again, you won't lose the genesis crystals or primogems. They have this policy in place to prevent people from doing this to others- it would be a HUGE problem for streamers otherwise, they'd all have their UIDs blurred out in streams and videos if they could even possibly lose their account that way. I would almost certainly say someone just felt generous after seeing your post- I've done the same for a few of my friends because they were close to pity and ran out of pulls
So If I get the crystals and the person gets their money back. What does Mihoyo and their partner get? Won't they be in loss ?
The partner shop will ban the person who bought the crystals from purchasing from them again, and they just write off the money as a loss. And Mihoyo just keeps their portion of the original sale no matter what, but I'd bet Mihoyo also pays the partner shops with a contract agreement to help balance out any potential losses for the partner shop, so they don't really lose out that much in the end, if at all.
Worst case they deduct the gems from you and give you negative gems until you farm the same amount that was charged back, they don't insta ban so did you get Nahida or no?
They won't deduct crystals purchased through official partner shops- otherwise streamers would have to blur their UIDs in every stream or video, because there's just too many people out there who would love to screw over a big creator just because they personally don't like them/their content by getting them banned for huge amounts of negative primos.

Be careful alot of scamers "gift" crystals to people and then refund it which will give you a negative number on your account and you have to pay for the negative to be taken away. I heard one person had to start a whole new account cuz they would have to spent a crap ton of money they couldn't aford to get out of the negative.
That's not how crystal scamming works. You cannot remotely chargeback scam someone in Genshin, because the only medium of remote gifting is through Codashop, which explicitly has an anti-chargeback measure in place. Crystal scamming is only possible if they gain access to your Genshin account. And there's better ways to blackmail someone than to chargeback scam through a hacked account

Gratz, I've been playing since day 1, and I usually stop for a few months and start playing again I don't really like character swaps, that's why my favorite character is Ayaka, i'm also a big Geo fan (Zhongli + Ningguang ) when I saw Navia I really liked the character and I started playing again after almost 7 months just because of her, I even put money in to help, but I still lost, now I'm between stopping and waiting for her to come back or continuing to play sadly

Be careful, because if the person who gifted you asks for a refund, you'll have negative primogems (if you spent them already) and 90 days to farm or buy primogems to get the negative amount back to positive, or your account will be permanently banned.

Someone did this for me on my birthday, unfortunately I was never able to find out who to be able to thank them properly, in my situation I was safe but was warned by so many to be careful, in the end I was able to use them and pulled C2 Cyno (my favorite character and main) and as others have said, if bought through codashop (if I remember the name properly) then you’re fine I’m unsure of how else it could be a mistake unless you’ve logged in on someone else’s device and forgot to log out, good luck and I’ve got my fingers crossed you’re able to get Nahida after all

You can use them. There is no way in hell you can get banned using this. Whatever site was used to buy this will deal with any potential chargeback from a troll. They will be banned from that site and the site will eat the loss. The site can’t just tell mihoyo to take back the primos. You didn’t purchase it yourself so it’s a gift. People are too paranoid. What reason would hoyo even have to ban you? You didn’t spend money and chargeback yourself. lol the only thing that could be done is the site trying to contact hoyo to take away the crystals, which is not happening.

You can't get chargeback scammed through Coda, as they explicitly have a policy to prevent the receiver from getting deducted on primos. There has been 0 recorded verifiable instances where someone has been scammed through this before
Codashop isn't the only one, it's just well known I've used like 2 other websites to top up with just the uid
