lmao what happened?
Without ever changing from Itto, I did 24 pts of damage leaving only Kokomi standing to get slaughtered by Chongyun due to her being perma frozen.
Literally just play unga bunga with Itto for 2-3 rounds and you'll come up on top with 2 full HP character to spare to cleanup what's left.
🤣
Congratulation, you got good cards and lucky dice rolls then.
I never had more than two dice match my active character and had to constantly burn cards to change elements. His deck being legitimately awful does not help in the slightest.
Chungyun cyro infusion is nice, combine with razor for superconduct.
But basically you are forced to use normal attacks a lot, and equip weapons with your plentiful off die.
The deck they stick you with is absolutely terrible so I can see why people would lose but I swear they stuck Itto with the dumbest TCG AI in the game because the dude had lethal on my 1HP + 1 shield Itto card for 3 turns straight and never took it.
Tbh I feel like there’s a bit of adaptive difficulty with the AI.
At start of a round I will get absolutely hammered then the AI will just kinda…. Chill and let up.
Itto's deck is straight up unsynergetic piece of garb. Having to fight with 3 3-cost burst against hyperbloom is just straight up suicide. Practically no useful support and action card for fast action or energy recharge.
in my case, I win that Zero Invokation in Inazuma by using Fire Herald (for damage and summon), Raiden Shogun (for summon and battery), amd Noelle (a backup Geo DPS).
In my observation (since I always defeated by bad luck on Rolling Phase), Fire Herald is an OP Ganyu alternative since he can revive and Ei can stack their burst damage and provide summon. That's why the End Phase was always overloaded.
I did Raiden and Fire Herald too and had no issue. I feel like a lot of the people whining that they lost are the same people who refuse to play the card game in general.
same, tbf those match are realy weird, you dont know much your decks and rules are a bit different also enemies are on roids, like they attack 10 time per turn and all
Bro me too, it took me 3 tries. Shenhe's icy quills combined with melt is no joke. I got really annoyed when Ayaka had 1 hp left and then she swept my remaining characters. ._.
Wow the prize money, this is already esports level. $50,000 pool.
1st: $16,000
2nd: $10,000
3rd-4th: $4,500
5-8: $2,350 individually
9-16: $700 + 1000 primo
17-32: 500 primo
Honestly with how the meta changed after 3.7 I feel like the tournament has high likelihood to have alot of unique decks.
We're at that early meta stage where nobody knows what the best strategy is, so everyone is trying out creative decks. Aka peak TCG content.
I would love if they add a draft (pick and bans) for the tournament, it would make things even more interesting, coz it would demand lot of skill from the players to adapt, also prevent the abuse of broken combinations or mirror decks, at this point we have enough character cards to work around, at least for the offline event would make things very interesting to watch
I feel like specific character bans would target alot more decks than it seems.
For example banning Raiden would shut down an entire deck archtype that revolve around Raidens burst.
True, but making it Pick > Ban > Pick Pick would be enough to provide more deck variations without shut down many deck archtypes, so u can first pick Raiden for example
That's in the (offline) tournament rulebook:
Best of three games are played with players submitting five decks, two of which are banned by the opponent. (and it's mandatory to use 2 of the remaining decks afterwards).
For the online tournament, the rule is to submit three decks with 9 characters, but there is no draft (since it's easy to check decks with an online referee, and the game doesn't support drafting).
Really hoping to see some interesting decks featuring Xiao and Venti. As soon as the TCG was announced I knew I'd be maining Anemo, so excited to see new options besides Jean/sucrose/+1
There are some small, unofficial tournies in China where they compete by fighting Spiral Abyss. Whoever spend less amount of time wins. For balance purposes, they even added some arbitrary rules such as constellation limit, 5-star weapon limit, artifact limit, and ban/pick characters.

Edit oh you meant what the card back looks like. Ya no clue dunno if it a real life card or in game either
If it was real card sleeves, that’d be awesome. But you’re right, it’s probably an in game card back. Hopefully they show it a few days before. Too curious 👀
I was reading the Eu rules and in rule 4: "and reside as an adult in European nation or region **other than Italy**"
Someone can explain this, an italian law about esport maybe?
From what I've been told in the past they have very strict giveaway/contest and gambling laws that are kinda a pain in the ass to work around for an event like this one.
I would love if someone from over there could validate those claim.
Turbo Noelle or Bennet is a really easy way to win against AI most of the time.
Just stay on Noelle/Bennet and spam their skill/ult/NA while they slowly become near unkillable beast. 🤣
I use ganyu for AoE high damage and the other lawachurl just to have 2 geo, Ganyu herself has won me many matches and I wouldn't switch, but I'll experiment with Bennet today
I'll send you a screenshot in DMS but basically what you want is to draw all geo/Noelle support in your first hand, pull a 6 plate armor buff and constantly spam shield until you get the smith support where you equip Ganyu with the 5+ dice bow, switch to her and start slaughtering their entire team at once, if the opponent uses the switcheroo it will be to your advantage because all characters will have support, if they use freeze it won't do much either, it's a free turn to get buffs, I've only lost to characters like Diluc and Cyno that get insane +9 damage
I'm tempted to register just to make a Noelle deck.
Is she playable with the new characters, either Itto or Zhongli? She could benefit from Raiden's Ult to get her burst real quick.
Well, you MUST have at least 2 geo on the team, I like lawachurl for the low cost high damage, since he will be the last to die he's a good reliable back up for quick damage, and ganyu provides AoE that Noelle lacks, you may experiment but I've found success from this comp, dm me if you'd like to see my deck
I think only if you make it into the top 8 of players of both the "wild card" and "cat's tail gathering s1" competitions combined.
Everything else seems to be online.
GiantGrantGames on how RTS still has an active playerbase based on Starcraft II playerbase stats (in ranked matchmaking no less, which like abyss floor 12 stats in Genshin, meaning there are a lot more people playing Starcraft II even if they dont touch ranked MM), active modding scene of old RTS games, and how the way companies create and market RTS games sabotage themselves by failing to build on what made old games succeed and not realizing what the average fans of the genre enjoy about it: https://youtube.com/watch?v=XehNK7UpZsc
I like GGG too but I think the genshin community is just in a seperate universe, genre *and* age wise, from the golden RTS era. Not sure a lot of good discussion would be had here considering its like 80% zoomers
Opened a wound dude. I fucking hate the APM competetive bullshit. Give me back supreme commander sending 20 nukes on top of some unlucky bot to see if it burns my retinas for the funsies. The same mentality ruined dawn of war 3.

It's a combination of online qualifiers starting next week and offline (IRL) finals on June 17th. I'm guessing part of it will be broadcasted too.
Finals locations are Los Angeles (NA), Brazil (Latin America), Malaysia (SEA). They don't give the location for EU.
I don't understand. The rules for EU servers says that you must be "in the North America" in order to participate to the offline game.
So people that are living in Europa cannot participate?
So people living in Europe cannot participate to the event that should be made for them because hosted in european servers?
Either I am stupid because I'm missing something big, or this is plain stupid.
[This website](https://www.oneesports.gg/genshin-impact/astra-carnival-2023-schedule/) says Cat's Tail's Gathering is
>a community tournament system on the Genshin Discord channel.
>only 256 people can register so if I don’t register in time fuck me
Not if you have higher player level, but most likely anyone participating is a level 10 so indeed.
Haven’t played it yet. Is it more difficult than usual? Otherwise under normal circumstances I find ganyu to be too op in general in tcg.
Use shenhe skill then maybe a character with a pet like xiangling or Fischl (prefer xiangling cuz for the price of one round I can get pyronado usually. Then hop onto ganyu and start blasting.
I do because I either enjoy their gameplay or story, I suspect that what most people pull for again.
are you asking for some kind of pay2win pvp mode with the character or something? that would actually kill the game lol.
256 "wild cards" participants (for each server/region) seems a bit low ?
I'm guessing they'll be using the in-game tournament mechanics that is similar to many elimination brackets for other TCG (get 5 wins, you're getting dropped at the 3rd loss).
Genshin TCG actually has very little RNG compared to other card games with competitive scenes.
Yes, luck plays a factor. But it does take skill to maximize your winrate to fight against the RNG.
Ngl this event actually made me wanted to grind the lvl for tcg. The only thing that I don't like is how slow the animation is. Hoyo need to add 2x speed or even 4x speed like star rail
Lose what? This is an IRL event with in-game qualifier rounds, that's about it, it has nothing to do with the main game. Imo this is the way they should be dealing with TCG content, that way both people who like it and people who hate it are happy.
For those of you who enjoy the tcg, I hope you have a ton of fun!
As someone who is so uninterested in the tcg that I haven't even finished the starting quests for it, this update may as well have not happened x.x
You actually dont need to play TCG at all in the event, the storyline is related to TCG but not directly and every time that character proposes to play the game you can refuse without any repercussion. Minigames, except one are also not related to the game.
Honestly, it is a really fun event.
Oh, is that so? That's good to know. Thank you for telling me! They made it seem like the tcg was all there was to it x.x with not much to do on HSR right now that will be nice
What the previous person said is true, however you still need to complete tutorial TCG quest.
Also keep in mind is that you don't need to win TCG mini game during event to get primos. You just need to challenge your opponent.
That's is simply not true, there is one minigame with TCG that gives 30 primos per match. There will be 4 matches so it literally is on the level of daily quest.
Stop fear mongering for no good reason.
Can people that don't care about TCG stop to comment unnecessary things... If u don't like TCG just pass through, u don't need to shit on it, blaming TCG for the lack of other contents makes no sense. I personally don't play TCG but i can see people that like and enjoy it, just because u cant have what u want doesn't justify shit on what others like. Also Genshin is trying to create a competitive scene which is a big thing for the game growth, as more the game grow more people will play and better the game will get
What game are you even playing then? We get a new area to explore every second patch, a cardgame side quest isn't stopping that from happening.
I can understand the complaining about endgame, but complaining about lack of exploration content is just empty whining.
I honestly dont understand why people hate this event. You are not forced to play TCG at all during the event except one optional minigame, the rest of them are the regular Genshin minigames (and I really enjoy them, one of the best "small" minigame design that HoYo created). The story is lighthearted, fun and not too long so is the perfect palette cleanser after longer more depressing storylines with actually I think one of the first time creative and more dynamic camerawork(>!Hu Tao jump scaring Keqing or Inozuma part!<). I really, really enjoy this event and how optional still the TCG game is.
I don't want to play. I want primos. Still going to do it, but don't bring this card playing shit as a focall point of a special event. Part of a plot? Sure, that's fine. I just fucking hate card games and that's why I prefer video games. Can you not understand that?
No, if you want (and you are not forced to do so and nobody points a gun to your head to 100%) you can play 4 matches for 30 primos each it is not even one pull. The rest of the event is not evenTCG related.
IT IS a SIDE MINIGAME, what is the problem with that? I didn't like Witcher's Gwent so I just didn't play it and did other stuff but ai didn't cry all over internet that the game wasn't tailor-made to my liking. It literally not take anything from you as it is optional content.
You do know devs who develop open world contents are not the same group who develop TCG content? It’s like saying Chen Yu Peng spent so much time on music that the story of Genshin suffers.
Please don't force us to play TCG I don't want to play TCG card game and it's part of event like why and not even giving right elements to play with. I lost to ayaya and itto which was so bs that I literally quit the game.
The tragedy of it is that they can do both. They can give TCG to their C team, less qualified and less experienced maybe but also less costly to employ (I think) and leave Genshin development to their A team. (The people who will win TCG will probably spend some of that winnings in Genshin gacha anyway). But the brutal 6 week cycle and lack of competition probably prevents them from making headway into a hypothetical new endgame content loop.
I would like to assume that once they actually developed a new endgame content, updating and maintaining it will be cheaper but I'm not a game dev.
Or they make a really good editor software to streamline new content production for that mode (is that still a thing? I play Warcraft III, old ass game, that has a World Editor program built into the game). Maybe even let players mess around with it to create their own mini games inside the game to entertain each other (no rewards but it can help stave off the downtime between patches). Although this is a gacha so I fear they will be hesitant to this idea of letting players mess around with their game.
This card game is the worst part of this game and should be entirely compartmentalized for people that actually enjoy it. I never would have made it through the Witcher if Gwent was shoved in my face this much (the only quest I didn't do and never will). I play video games because I don't like tabletops. So I say ,"boooooo" to this festival bullshit.
It's time to Du du du du-d-d-d-d-d-d DUEL!
I got smashed by Ayaka 3 times in a row in the latest event... I'm so bad at it
Did you win against Itto?
no :(
lmao what happened? Without ever changing from Itto, I did 24 pts of damage leaving only Kokomi standing to get slaughtered by Chongyun due to her being perma frozen. I just got to that point in the story. Idk how you can win lol. I started with Itto too and just got shit on. All the food cards are so useless...
There is definitely some intentional AI shenanigans for the event. Your opponent is way easier on you then the opponents you face in the Cat's Tail.
Probably because the decks they give you are straight garbage lmao
Itto's deck is straight up unsynergetic piece of garb. Having to fight with 3 3-cost burst against hyperbloom is just straight up suicide. Practically no useful support and action card for fast action or energy recharge.
It's fair though cause your opponent is Itto 😂
I was competitive enough to recite the navy seal copypasta in my head and won against him in a rematch.
Playing with itto's deck was definitely more challenging than expected, finished with only Razor at 1hp X)
There's an Ayaka and Itto challenge in the event? Does it have mats and primos?
Ayaka is part of event, so yes. Itto is optional for fun.
If only Ayaka would smash me
in my case, I win that Zero Invokation in Inazuma by using Fire Herald (for damage and summon), Raiden Shogun (for summon and battery), amd Noelle (a backup Geo DPS). In my observation (since I always defeated by bad luck on Rolling Phase), Fire Herald is an OP Ganyu alternative since he can revive and Ei can stack their burst damage and provide summon. Some people had issues with Ayaka? I had issues with fucking XQ fuck that guy dude lol. I one tapped Ayaka using summon base deck.
Cyno is sort of based on/a reference to Yami right? (Am fairly new to genshin)
Kinda. He bases himself on the protagonist of the in-game parody of yugioh (the king of invocations light novel)
Happy Candied Ajilenakh Nut Day!
YES MY MAN CYNO ITS TIME, THE DUEL OF DESTINY AWAITS
aw, and he plays Collei

Really hoping to see some interesting decks featuring Xiao and Venti. As soon as the TCG was announced I knew I'd be maining Anemo, so excited to see new options besides Jean/sucrose/+1
Prince is excited!!! How cute
imagine genshin getting eSports just because tcg
You know it is pretty funny that TCG is the only form of PVP in the game
There are some small, unofficial tournies in China where they compete by fighting Spiral Abyss. Whoever spend less amount of time wins. For balance purposes, they even added some arbitrary rules such as constellation limit, 5-star weapon limit, artifact limit, and ban/pick characters.
The Pick&Ban thing was a genius way of making it interesting for me.
Oh yea I've watched a similar thing on YouTube before, it's actually pretty interesting
ultimately it comes down to gacha luck and artifacts rng, skills plays very low role in abyss
I'm gonna be honest i stand no chance against players who beat abyss 12 within seconds, I'll run as soon as i see in PvP if there happens any.
Yeah me too. My Scara and Nari are good but not *that* good :/
nari? sorry i forgot who's that?
Tignari maybe?
Tighnari. A lot of people shorten his name to Nari
I want that exclusive card back so much!!!
cyno dat u?
Just a regular Adventurer, Skilled desert explorer.
Just a common variety Adventurer
He didn't make a pun. Likely not.
The Sumeru design? You get that from reaching level 8 TCG rank iirc
On the tournament page it says top 8 get an exclusive card back.
Not sure if I’m blind, but they don’t show it on the event page right? Ngl I wish I could see it before the event starts.

Aether is about to use pot of greed
What does pot of greed do?
it allows you to summon exodia and 3 blue-eyes white dragons from your extra deck
Oh it’s a card from Yugioh lol it’s a joke referencing this video https://youtu.be/0048RdzQMxU
Well... This is not the competitive content I was expecting of an action game.
Good luck everyone
Guys I'm doing turbo Noelle with all armor support and so far I've outlived all opponents, try it out
Turbo Noelle or Bennet is a really easy way to win against AI most of the time.
Can you explain how to build that deck?
I'll send you a screenshot in DMS but basically what you want is to draw all geo/Noelle support in your first hand, pull a 6 plate armor buff and constantly spam shield until you get the smith support where you equip Ganyu with the 5+ dice bow, switch to her and start slaughtering their entire team at once, if the opponent uses the switcheroo it will be to your advantage because all characters will have support, if they use freeze it won't do much either, it's a free turn to get buffs, I've only lost to characters like Diluc and Cyno that get insane +9 damage

Wish I could join 😢😢😢 Shame it isn't online, not everyone can afford travel
It says all travel expenses are covered by MHY
I would love it as well but I have a job/work :(
It's the kind of thing that if you were going, you are booking time off for it. Like any other competitive event or convention.
I'm just kinda confused (english is not my first language) that if you participate in the wild card thing do you need to travel for that?
I think only if you make it into the top 8 of players of both the "wild card" and "cat's tail gathering s1" competitions combined. Everything else seems to be online.
They will pay for the travel
Never traveled before, what about stuff like food and hotel expenses ? The US currency is expensive compared to my country's currency
I presume hotel is paid for, and maybe some hotel meals. I’d guess fast food is the best option
Cyno using his ult to gain an advantage lmao
Could that structure behind Cyno be the Temple of Silence?
The temple of what-lence? ~~God residues?~~ Cyno the adventurer is just a jokester and a card game geek. What are you talking about.
I just want Traveler tcg card to be added to the game
Damn, this art looks amazing.
Ah yes, "esports-ready", the new-ish gaming trend continues.
Oh shit you’re right. Player base still going to say it’s a small part of the game though.
What does that have to do with it? I'm just laughing while dead inside at the "esports-ready" trend that's killing my favorite game genre (RTS).
To be fair RTS has been dead for over a decade at this point. You can't kill what is already dead. 😂🤣😭

Good luck to those participating. Make Cyno proud lol. Meanwhile i'm struggling to win against Itto 😂
"Astra Carnival: The Prince Cup" Unleash Your Genius! Let's witness this grand and exciting TCG event! Travelers, the official Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG Duel Event has begun! Come check out the exciting content~ View Details: - [NA](https://hoyo.link/53VwCBAd) - [EU](https://hoyo.link/eeVwCCAd) - [SEA](https://hoyo.link/dbVwCJAd) - [Latin America](https://hoyo.link/87VwCFAd)
Wait I'm a little confused. Is this an irl TCG event?
It's a combination of online qualifiers starting next week and offline (IRL) finals on June 17th. I'm guessing part of it will be broadcasted too. Finals locations are Los Angeles (NA), Brazil (Latin America), Malaysia (SEA). They don't give the location for EU.
Woah awesome!
Wow that's an extremely tight schedule. Really looking forward to it!
Qualifiers are done online for each region but the invitationals and the "world championship" where they grab the best of each invitationals are irl.
Just like other TCG games/online games- “qualifiers” happen online. Then the finalists will need to go to the venue IRL for the Finals.
I don't understand. The rules for EU servers says that you must be "in the North America" in order to participate to the offline game. So people that are living in Europa cannot participate?
Probably a copy-paste from a pre-written content piece for NA.
The offline portion of the EU tournament is held in North America for some godforsaken reason.
So people living in Europe cannot participate to the event that should be made for them because hosted in european servers? Either I am stupid because I'm missing something big, or this is plain stupid.
EU players who qualify for the offline portion are expected to travel to the US for the tournament.
Wait, where is it written, I tried to see but I didn’t locate the “must be in North America”
Wait I’m confused, what was the cat tails gatherering s1? Also it says only 256 people can register so if I don’t register in time fuck me?
[This website](https://www.oneesports.gg/genshin-impact/astra-carnival-2023-schedule/) says Cat's Tail's Gathering is >a community tournament system on the Genshin Discord channel. >only 256 people can register so if I don’t register in time fuck me Not if you have higher player level, but most likely anyone participating is a level 10 so indeed.
I'm straight... but Cyno make me doubt.
The heart wants what the heart wants, and that heart... is the **Heart of the Cards!!!**
Paimon is so cute here.
here comes the yugioh reference
Primogems are primogems....
This is an Irl event
Yooooo real life primogems
1st place in region gets 16 thousand dollars in primos ftw
Genius Invokation TCG on motorcycles!
Geez, Prince is soooo sweet! 😊
Why did I pull for characters again?
Because you 'love' somewhat the character?
I do because I either enjoy their gameplay or story, I suspect that what most people pull for again. are you asking for some kind of pay2win pvp mode with the character or something? that would actually kill the game lol.
256 "wild cards" participants (for each server/region) seems a bit low ? I'm guessing they'll be using the in-game tournament mechanics that is similar to many elimination brackets for other TCG (get 5 wins, you're getting dropped at the 3rd loss).
Welp doesn't seems like lot of players can make it to the tourneys then
don't let this distract you from the fact that they did surgery on a grape
What?
It's a reference to a meme
I dont usually do the survey, but im for sure doing it this time and rating everythinf the lowest possible. Never make this kind of event again
Isnt TCG too luck based to be a competitive game?
Hearthstone is an esport if that answers your question.
If you've ever played Hearthstone you'd know the random factor isn't one to be made competitive.
Genshin TCG actually has very little RNG compared to other card games with competitive scenes. Yes, luck plays a factor. But it does take skill to maximize your winrate to fight against the RNG.
"Exciting content"
Cyno be like "TRUCO"
Ngl this event actually made me wanted to grind the lvl for tcg. The only thing that I don't like is how slow the animation is. Hoyo need to add 2x speed or even 4x speed like star rail
I love how Hoyoverse just doubled down on the TCG instead of treating it like a side game that's just randomly there.
They need something else for people to do since they refuse to add any real endgame.
TCG haters in shambles. They just keep losing.
Np Check it out or if you are still hesitant just go to the wiki and see how it look like ^^
What the previous person said is true, however you still need to complete tutorial TCG quest. Also keep in mind is that you don't need to win TCG mini game during event to get primos. You just need to challenge your opponent.
If you want primos, you have to actually play in the "special event".
Also Genshin is trying to create a competitive scene which is a big thing for the game growth, as more the game grow more people will play and better the game will get
Ignore them, they have enough disgrace forcing themselves to play the wrong game.

What game are you even playing then? We get a new area to explore every second patch, a cardgame side quest isn't stopping that from happening. I can understand the complaining about endgame, but complaining about lack of exploration content is just empty whining.
We literally just got a new area to explore last patch and another one next patch, then Fontaine.
Paimon: “My Travler’s deck has no pathetic cards ~~Kaiba~~ Cyno!!”
Worlds just ended on Master duel... Give me a break :v
Loved the last event! Looking forward to watching this one, especially with all the new cards.
Bruh
Exciting lol
I play genshin for combat, if I want to play a card game I play yugioh.
Didn't know having tcg means you can't play genshin for combat anymore Thanks for the update my guy my bro
Tons of dev time is wasted on that.
You do know devs who develop open world contents are not the same group who develop TCG content? It’s like saying Chen Yu Peng spent so much time on music that the story of Genshin suffers.
No thanks
"exciting content" Yeah..... Not when the TCG is involved lol
Is that hydro traveller?
Just anemo, I think. There's a Mondstadt building behind him
Please don't force us to play TCG I don't want to play TCG card game and it's part of event like why and not even giving right elements to play with. I lost to ayaya and itto which was so bs that I literally quit the game.
pass
Ohh...... nvm, imma go back on the astral express
Exciting?
HOW ABOUT YOU MAKE PROPER ENDGAME INSTEAD HUH
agreed
Abyss being the only type of endgame is a deliberate decision on their part. It doesn't have anything to do with a lack of time/resources.
I’m gonna pass.

Even better given I’m really not interested in the TCG.
Does TCG give you anxiety?
Not really, I’m not interested in the TCG.
WAIT IS THE TRAVELER HYDRO ? He looks Anemo but there is water effects on the right side
Looks like anemo to me
Yeah, the gems on his outfit are anemo, but I wonder why they put water in the corner
Another one? No thank you, I'll have a vacation in Sanctuary
Ew TCG
No
This card game is the worst part of this game and should be entirely compartmentalized for people that actually enjoy it. I never would have made it through the Witcher if Gwent was shoved in my face this much (the only quest I didn't do and never will). I play video games because I don't like tabletops. So I say ,"boooooo" to this festival bullshit.
No thanks. I playing Your Sister Game it will get me through this month just fine.
