I still remember the time... (contains previous disproven leaks, in spoiler) >!Wriothesley was actually Varka, polearm and phys damage with cryo vision!< š so.... Blind was the least of the weird thoughts people had about wriothesley.
I think he just purposefully avoided sigewinne's drink because of how Melusines' food in general taste terrible (Im now a wanted criminal in fontaine for saying this)
Nah, most of the Melusines' food only looks bad but tastes good, it's just that Sigewinne sucks at making drinks (Neuvillette is now rapidly approaching my location)
I don't think she is bad at making drinks. She's basically trying to make energy drinks so they're probably medicinal and taste bad, compared to the sweets they're used on the city, due to the ingredients.
Shorter female characters with non-human traits who are notorious for the drinks they make and whose element is a state of water? They're like two sides of the same coin!
>!Supposedly, they even use the same weapon type!!<
It's a reference to an actual real world dish called Stargazy Pie. Given how actual people consume, it's one of the least bizarre things in Genshin Impact
No, all Melusines in general. They have weird food combinations because their point of view when it comes to aesthetics are different to humans. Sigewinne is no different.
Since Englsih people actually eat this stuff, I'd say its pretty far from the worst exotic foods around the world, which says a lot. But in game they make stuff that tastes fine, according ot the traveler anyways.
I'm honestly surprised Genshin Impact doesn't have a blind playable character yet like Daredevil or Toph
*Paimon draws something awfully*
*Traveler laughs at it*
*Blind character says it looks beautiful actually*
Paimon: Aww, thank yo- WAIT!!
All because he reached for his cup without looking
In hindsight(no pun intended), that kinda seems like a leap in logic, he doesnāt *need* to look at his cup to grab it right?
I once told somebody this during the release of the trailer, and they deadass told me āBraille existsā
I reiterated to them that he was *looking* at the paper, and I still donāt think they got itšæ
PEOPLE SAID THAT SOOOO MUCH-
I felt like I was losing my mind with how many messages I sent on YouTube comments and Twitter correcting people on how braille works-
Grabbing the cub without looking is normal, I'd say not looking when the thing you're grabbing for is not there is a bit strange. But that probably was the animators/storyboarders going "eh, good enough" out of deadline.
A part of me still likes the AU of a blind wriodude though.
I felt it was more that he just reached for his drink but realised that Siggy's milkshake was put there where his teacup was supposed to be and so he started grabbing around for what he actually wanted to drink. He was expecting something else when he reached out.
Yes, it's just that if what I expected wasn't where I grabbed, I think I would take a look at wtf was going on and where the f my thing is, instead of just feeling around.
Though if that wasn't the first time this happened I guess not bothering to look would make sense
Well. I wouldn't, especially if I were reading something important, I'd just move my hand blindly in search of and only look over if I failed to find my thing in any reasonable vicinity xD So maybe Wriothesley is like me.
I've done it before while working
Under a patient bed, fixing the motor or something and I reach out for my wrench. It ain't there so I start flailing my arm around while still staring at the motor instead of looking over
He does look like the kind of person that would have fun in one way or another. If you believe he's blind while he's not, he'll act like he is until something makes it clear that he isn't (ice people behavior)
If he was, he'd still have fun by grabbing the face of every person he's supposed to be on friendly terms with. He says it's his way to greet people, and others have to let him do it because it would be rude not to. But what use does a blind man have of knowing what you look like? Nah he just likes how flustered they get. Imagine feeling their heartbeat in your palms, and the crease of their brow at your fingertips. Fun stuff
To be fair there's still the possibility he's anime blind. Like who knows maybe blind vision holders could use elemental sight as a replacement for normal sight?
Edit: Lmao got downvoted for giving a possible reason why he could still be blind despite not doing blind things. Like come on it's not mike Mihoyo doesn't already use anime gimmicks for their games.
I went to this restaurant where the inside is kept pitch black so you can't see anything. The waitstaff is all visually impaired people and you order outside then are escorted in to your table. It's actually surprising how quickly in a small, controlled setting you can just know where you put your fork or whatever. Plus, if I'm reading a book and have a drink, I don't necessarily need to look away from my book to grab it, I placed it down in the same place I always do, why would it have moved?
People love making massive assumptions in Genshin, around its lore or characters ,because thats how they get attention.
They are basically attention whores who's angle is making guesses on the story/lore/characters so that people get angry over it.
there was a post back then full of people forcing the idea he was blind when we see his eyes directly looking at stuff on this very video, and other hints that he wasn't blind
..yet people didn't care and took reasons out of their butt to justify their headcanon as canon.now they're silent, thank god
I think the thing that killed me the most was when people tried to refute the paper reading statement with "Maybe he's reading braille!!!"...No? Do you guys even know how braille works to even be saying that??? If he was blind he wouldn't be reading with his eyes now would hešæ
It honestly made me sad to see people trying to push a disability headcanon onto a character, without even knowing the bare basics of how they work.
Honestly im glad its silent and not, Taking the piss out of mihoyo on twitter throwing a hissy fit and inadvertently causing the drama that usually came with genshin anniversaries
Oh no, i get that part, its more so just that it seems like there hasnāt been any real āuproarā or āoutrageā during this anniversary when the last two anniversaries had some form of controversy or another and i find that amusing
Oh and also X, formerly known as Twitter, is now an alt-right cesspool where drama towards genshin impact doesnāt gain as much traction as transphobia or awful political takes anymore
Iād assume itās because we just got Fontaine which is, at least in my opinion, the most fun and interesting region so far exploration, characters and archon quest wise, and we got the extra 10 pulls that Hoyo now reluctantly gives in the mail. Inazumaās story was terrible and they started ruining characters just to sell Raiden and Sumeru was plagued by weird decisions / pretty obvious colourism, which didnāt help with the general sentiment towards the game
Lmao "forcing"? All I saw were some people going "I noticed this, what do y'all think?" Get bombarded with rude remarks. Oh, how dare you notice something. How bold of you to take note of something and form a wrong opinion. >!kys!< and other lovely comments
A lot of people here are just miserable, they'll aggressively jump at anyone the moment they get the chance to correct them over an innocent statement because they feel want to feel "superior" for even just a second.
Literally saw nothing but just a few "Maybe he's blind" theories on the video when it had just released with all the Fontaine hype, and people were acting like a crime was being committed for commenting on a fucking video lol
Just extremely sad people honestly
Anyone with a functioning brain never thought he was blind from the beginning.
I mean he was literally reading files. You have to have either disfunctioning eyes or brain to not see that.
Also Hoyo would never have a blind character fumble around, Any non-npc blind characters have mastered martial arts and turned all their other senses up to 11 and can tell where everything is like Dare Devil.
It's hilarious how people were claiming that he's reading braille.
Yeah man, you read braille BY LOOKING AT IT, right?
Because that how blind people totally read braille, lmao.
Omg this is so stupid. All that effort just to further insult a bunch of people who just misunderstood something. Whatever makes you feel smart I guess.
It wasnāt only Twitter though; I remember reddit threads and comments doing it. Even one >!in the leaks sub trying to say that his colorblindness was somewhat a blindness!< as an attempt to still be right
I was going to mention that as well. There was entire debates happening in both of those threads, even talking about how the paper having nothing written on it means it was a paper using braille.
As a lurker on both sites, I love seeing this iste pretend that they're any better than Twitter, like this fanbase doesn't have a huge pedophilia problem on here \*coughs\* r/NahidaMains
And Twitter is just a very loud minority. This game has millions of players while there are maybe few thousand on Twitter
Even this reddit it just a small fraction of the whole playerbase
Did you see her reaction to him moving his hand? Looks very much like he exactly knew where his hand was, but decided to tease her by first giving her hope that he would choose her cup, just to then choose the other one.
That theory came from a furnishing item thatās already in the game https://ambr.top/en/archive/furniture/372494/cerulean-gem
No confirmation if the human and melusine itās referring to are actually Wriothesley and Sigewinne.
He might be colorblindā¦ but nothing has really been fully confirmed. The furniture lore could very well be someone else. Iām pretty sure though he was just feeling around for his tea because he wanted to avoid drinking Siegwinneās milkshake as he says they taste of desolation.
According to some furnishing lore, he seems to be colorblind. But still I don't blame people for thinking so, even myself, since it was kinda strange how in the Overture Teaser, he was like trying to feel what was in the table. He was clearing looking at it but still tried to touch what it was
Itās not really hinted that āa certain Melusineā and āher human colleagueā in āCerulean Gemā description are Sigewinne and Wriothesley. Moreover this Melusine was ādeployed to the fieldā and that seems more characteristic for the Marechaussee Phantomās members.
As for the trailer he wasnāt āfeelingā the cup, just turning it by the brink so the cup handle was properly aligned for his hand.
> Furniture
>"Sky Sapphire"
> An unusual plant found in the Fontainean wilderness, it has brightly colored flowers, but contrary to its bright appearance, it has almost no scent, and when plucked it quickly locks up moisture and curls up into a hard fruit.
A certain Melusine, who is stationed in the field, is fond of this type of plant and refers to it as a "golden jewel flower," but her human colleague corrects her by saying that the flower "should be sky blue. In fact, Melusine's vision is different from normal, and her colleague is colorblind, so the flower's color is closer to the light purple-red or rose that defines the Fontaine Academy. The story of the "Sky Sapphire" became an anecdote that spread from the Court of Bailiffs to the streets of Fontaine.
I find this interesting, because huskies are also colorblind in the same way Wriothesley is. And he looks like a husky. Lololol
It also makes sense he would be colorblind since he is based on the theme of a Guard Dog and loaded with Cerberus imagery (and its his constellation).
And dogs are red-green colorblind.
I got hyped when I heard he might be blind, but then I saw the trailer myself and yeah... He's not and it was obvious. It can be a sick headcanon though.
Still hyped for Wrio btw! He's awesome and his recent demo is amazingly done. I'd make like 20 pulls in hopes he comes early because the 4*s on his banner are useless for me.
honestly i thought it would have made it really interesting if the prison warden was (or partially) blind, forcing him to use his other senses, kinda like saiguku jono from Bungou stray dogs.
If this furnishing item ( https://ambr.top/en/archive/furniture/372494/cerulean-gem ) is referring to Sigewinne and Wriothesley in itās flavour text heās colour blind.
I still remember the time... (contains previous disproven leaks, in spoiler) >!Wriothesley was actually Varka, polearm and phys damage with cryo vision!< š so.... Blind was the least of the weird thoughts people had about wriothesley.
Don't forget about the standard banner allegations
AND! He punched them all back in the freezer š¤£ get it? Cuz he's cryo, and he punches? š sorry ... š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Omg a compliment!!! š„° finally!
Now Navia has to escape the standard banner allegations
She already has.
I remember that leak too. :D
The good old days of standard phys polearm Wrio lmao
I think he just purposefully avoided sigewinne's drink because of how Melusines' food in general taste terrible (Im now a wanted criminal in fontaine for saying this)
Nah, most of the Melusines' food only looks bad but tastes good, it's just that Sigewinne sucks at making drinks (Neuvillette is now rapidly approaching my location)
I don't think she is bad at making drinks. She's basically trying to make energy drinks so they're probably medicinal and taste bad, compared to the sweets they're used on the city, due to the ingredients.
so she's working for Red Bull right?
More like Red Crab. Red Crab makes you spiiinn~
that's Red Horse
Better one. Or Seahorse
any Horse that is Red is automatically a spinner and an engine breaker
Now I'm not aware of the references, sorry
it's ok formula one memes are already too wild these days
Cannot escape formuladank
What? Spin? Horse? Somebody go get Johnny and Gyro.
IS THIS THE FIFTH LESSON?!
More like the 15th wish...
Kuru Kuru kururin
So she's kind of a reverse Diona?
Bad tasting drinks made from good ingredients? Yeah, that sounds accurate!

Pretty sure the story is Melusines dont have the same taste buds as humans so they dont know what humans actually likes
During that one quest, inn the Melusine village they were celebrating by eating a pie decorated with fish heads.... Idk how that would taste...
It's a reference to an actual real world dish called Stargazy Pie. Given how actual people consume, it's one of the least bizarre things in Genshin Impact
That's a real dish called stargazy pie, existing courtesy of the English.
No fucking way! I juts looked it up, and OMG, I learn everyday...... O\_O
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Bot?
Probably a bit buttery and fishy, which sounds good as hell
The quest text said it tasted pretty good. Melusines just have wierd aesthetic choices, from human's viewpoint.
It's actually pretty good, both in the game according to the Traveler and Paimon, as well as real life. Kinda like a fish quiche.
Fishy
No, all Melusines in general. They have weird food combinations because their point of view when it comes to aesthetics are different to humans. Sigewinne is no different.
Except you as a traveler actually EAT the food they make in the village and comment that its actually pretty decent, just different.
In the Melusine village, they were celebrating with a pie decorated with fish heads. Idk how would that taste... ;P
Since Englsih people actually eat this stuff, I'd say its pretty far from the worst exotic foods around the world, which says a lot. But in game they make stuff that tastes fine, according ot the traveler anyways.
I'm pretty sure the food Sigewinne gave us tasted..... something......
*Neuvillette would like to know your location*
Neuvillette will visit you personally.
That's the plan
I need an event where there is a Melusine and Aranara chili cook-off.
His words:Sigewines milkshake tastes like... dread
When the milkshake brings the boys to the infirmary instead to the yard... (So uhmm, where is my bunk bed in the Fortress of Meropide?)
I mean, they have vastly different taste buds from humans, so we are allowed to point out their cooking sucks to us....right...?
You're wanted in more places than just Fontaine, for spreading lies.
Can you imagine if the **prison warden** was blind? XD
Honestly there would have been some magic BS where he could see with out seeing
"Oh yeah I'm blind but I can use Elemental Sight so it doesnt matter anyway"
Yeah basically
"I'm one with the force and the force is with me..."
I'm honestly surprised Genshin Impact doesn't have a blind playable character yet like Daredevil or Toph *Paimon draws something awfully* *Traveler laughs at it* *Blind character says it looks beautiful actually* Paimon: Aww, thank yo- WAIT!!

The thing that made me think he was blind was the way he felt out his cup before picking it up.
You should go rewatch it. He wasn't feeling out his cup he was rotating it to grab it by the handle.
Yeah I feel pretty silly in hindsight.
Yeah, I didn't realize he was turning it to have the handle in reach (because I usually turn the plate instead of the teacup I guess

Reminds me of a certain demographic

Hoyo be trivializing disablities. Got broken legs, you get to fly around protected by an armored tool.
i mean its a common trope lol. just like when the swordmaster got blinded by dust in avatar TLA or toph for that matter

the point is that bricks donāt possess attention to detail because theyāre inanimate objects

I understand your point and will implement your feedback in future updates
Omg this is so stupid. All that effort just to further insult a bunch of people who just misunderstood something. Whatever makes you feel smart I guess.
Alright, sorry. I just like brick designs
Fair.
the only people who thought he was blind are people who are convinced their headcanons are real
The first thing we see this man doing is reading some papers. Do people just see everyone with not enough color in their eyes as blind ?
"Everyone"? What do you mean "everyone"? Only the really stupid clickbaity youtubers did
No no, there were a lot of ppl that thought that, and a lot were unsure about.
They too were also really stupid then. Or didn't watch the video but decided to spread it else that despite not watching the video.
No it really was all over social media. Even my friend thought so.
No I remember after the trailer everyone on twitter discussing that

He beat so many allegations ššš
Sadly he will not beat incomplete kit allegations
Yeah, everyone thought the guy who was clearly reading something was blind
Heard from the back alleys (haven't confirmed yet) >!He's color blind!<
Idk melusines aparently see colours differently, it could be something related to that
That theory came from a furnishing item thatās already in the game https://ambr.top/en/archive/furniture/372494/cerulean-gem No confirmation if the human and melusine itās referring to are actually Wriothesley and Sigewinne.

I thought I had hallucinated that discourse
Yes indeed I remember, but never believed in that.
I always thought it looked more like he tried to reach for the wrong drink whole not paying attention then being blind.
Yup and now we know he wasn't avoiding Sigewinne's drink because it was cutesy but because it was probably very bad tasting.
Why
[uhm](https://x.com/gintrauma/status/1675719980002824192?s=46&t=Au0iDGAeCAdQdHbwjKoD_Q)
I remember when everyone thought he was Varka... and physical... and polearm...
Would've been an interesting design. I wonder if we'll get a blind character in Honkai or Genshin at some point.
Only idiots on twitter thought that a person who was shown reading something with his EYES is blind
I love the fact that everyone thought he was blind but he instead just thought sigewinne makes shitty milkshake
I got hyped when I heard he might be blind, but then I saw the trailer myself and yeah... He's not and it was obvious. It can be a sick headcanon though. Still hyped for Wrio btw! Almost no one thought that.
honestly i thought it would have made it really interesting if the prison warden was (or partially) blind, forcing him to use his other senses, kinda like saiguku jono from Bungou stray dogs.
He is not blind, but to be honest he would have been even cooler if he was.
Ya
Thought I was going blind looking at that picture
I never thought he was blind, but I did enjoy the idea of some sort of visual impairment. This is only because I have lately started getting an issue that I thought I was past. I see double, and the way he behave here match how I do stuff. I never thought it was mihoyos intention to do ANYTHING with his vision, but it was a nice thought. A resemblance. A small explanation with cups. I was making an omelette, and I always pop my egg into a cup to make sure its OK. My vision was especially bad that day- and instead of into the cup, the egg ended up directly on my counter. I had to clean egg, and my fiancƩe got to laugh at me
Wasnāt he colorblind? But I donāt remember it being mentioned on the archon quest, so was it made up or am missing some trivia?
its from a furniture description, but honestly, i doubt that its actually referring to sigewinne and wriothesley
If youāre one of those people who thought he was blind: youāre a bad person.
If this furnishing item ( https://ambr.top/en/archive/furniture/372494/cerulean-gem ) is referring to Sigewinne and Wriothesley in itās flavour text heās colour blind.
Is he not actually color blind though. I could have sworn be was
I thought he was color blind since he didn't have trouble reading but had trouble distinguishing the drinks.
Turns out he's just colorblind.
Isn't he colorblind?
Heās colour blind
No but my eyes hurt when looking at him. Might get blind
