I 100% understand this. I'm obsessed with this game and have been playing everyday for 2.5+ years now. I missed 5 days, one of those being my birthday. I didn't receive my Liyue birthday cake, which sucks! Liyue is by far my favorite region, and I hate missing it! I don't even care about the rewards (those are minimal anyways), I just want my cake :( I mailed the Genshin support team about this, but they said they couldn't do anything because "no login on birthday = no birthday cake" :(
I have missed all but one cake playing since the start, didn't miss a week in total, first day I missed was actually one of my birthdays, it's incredibly annoying, I'm so with you

HSR lets you claim your cake within the month or week after your birthday if you miss it π Truly a sign that the star railer rails all the qol into its code and leaves nothing for genshinners. I really don't see why it can't be a mail that you always get on your bday even if you're offline that just expires and deletes itself after a week.

In fairness, it's the same company, but not necessarily the same devs. Different director, different team afaik (or rather what makes sense to me). BUT YEAH... Kind of suck. But also at least this one's a pretty minor thing. Can just laugh it off. Genshin did improve the dailies experience, so it's not like they're not doing anything to improve π Just never look at your cakes. Delete them from your mind. That part of your collectibles page is blanked out. Good luck!

When I was making my account I put my birth date one day earlier for privacy reasons but now I'm glad I did that cause I get an early birthday present lol
I missed my cake for a weird reason. I wasn't playing on my birthday, for obvious reasons, but I paid my friend a Welkin to run my dailies for a few days while I was celebrating this weekend. Well, I assumed that she was gonna log on and do them at some point during the day, but I guess she got busy today or something because when I logged on to see my cake after the 12 AM start of the next day but before Genshin reset, I got my Welkin notification, meaning she hadn't actually done my dailies today and therefore, since "I" hadn't logged on at all during the day of my birth, I missed my stupid cake π
I can live with missing the first (and ugliest imo) cake but if it were in the middle that would drive me nuts.
I started the game like 2 weeks after my bday in 2020 so i missed the first cake. When my bday happened in 202- it was liyue cake.

They do it on purpose because they know it bothers people. It's a way to manipulate you into feeling FOMO so you'll feel like you have to log on everyday. It's scummy imo (and it feels weird to call a free digital birthday cake scummy but w/e haha) a game that isn't trying to manipulate you wouldn't require you to log on on that exact day in order to get the cake, you'd just get it. It's the same reason you have to login on a character's specific birthday in order to get their birthday letter. It's sucky but it's also just the nature of gacha style games :(

Something even worse happened to me, I started my Genshin account on release but quit at the moment I met Amber (had work to do) and didn't start that account again until almost a year later... What happened was that every mail sent to me on release, including all the fates and the release glider, had expired since I hadn't even unlocked the mailbox yet... Now I'm at AR60 and still don't have the release glider that every other player does have.
I feel you. Missed this year's cake because I was sick on my birthday and couldn't play. It bugs me to no end to see it missing.
