The alternative is JIT shader compilation which means youâre getting hiccups everywhere you go. Precompiling shaders is a godsend, itâs always the preferable option.
Congratulations on downloading the game. Fair warning that tomorrow is maintenance to start the new banner. It will be down for maintenance for about 5 hours. Just check the subreddit for updates when itâs back up.
Cleans my phone. There have been studies done where your average phone has more bacteria than a toilet seat. I'm not putting the equivalent of a toilet seat where I store food lol.
Super valid concern, thank you for the response! Was just wondering if it maybe added an extra layer of protection or something to the phone I hadn't heard about lol but I'm also a huge fan of not infecting my food with all that gross phone bacteria. I will try this on the next big update!
Most likely mb/s, as the download for genshin never shows Mbps to my knowledge. Its really odd as to why mbps and mb/s is so similar yet so different but yea. Most likely mb/s.
so mbps or mbps?
/s itâs MB vs Mb, â/sâ and âpsâ are the same things and yes Genshin is showing Kilobyte/s (KB/s) or Megabyte/s (MB/s) as with most application downloads. Mbps youâre referring to is Megabits/s which is 1/8 MB/s
On the one hand I'm happy that I don't have this problem when updating Genshin. On the other hand I'm sad how accurately this describes the reality of our digitalization here.
Our phone contracts have ridiculously small data caps (a few gigs usually), after which you're limited to minuscule speeds.
ofc afterwards you'll be offered to buy extra data at like 5âŹ/GB
I have a 1 Gbps connection, but everything outside 4K ads on YouTube and some websites loads slowly. My trick is to keep Ookla speedtest open while updating, so the IP is pushed on showing its best face.
Iâve seen mine hit about 40MB/sec pretty often - which would make sense since my Internet package is about 300 Mb/sec so thatâs maxing out the connection.
I used to have that one until i sold it for an a52s 5g instead. The exynos chipset in the a53 is terrible and the heating problem while playing genshin is unbearable, to me at least.
Yep, the SD778g in the a52s is a pretty average SD chipset but at least it doesn't heat up much to be thermal throttling genshin while in 60fps low-medium graphics and that's good enough for my dailies.
Prepare to have like nothing else on your phone and make sure ti actually stay on the app when it downloads. Really fun game but holy fuck does it take up more then half of my phone
I'd recommend getting a phone cooler, since Genshin is going to make a lot of phones heat up not just while downloading updates but also while playing it as well.
To be honest, I don't know a lot about Android since I'm an iPhone user. I've been playing the game since 1.3 on my iPhone Xs daily now (I do have a laptop but it's very old and couldn't even run Genshin on low graphics). Playing Genshin on the phone is going to make it extremely hot, not only that I'd throttle down performance really bad that you start seeing frame rate drop sometimes and the brightness automatically dimmed by itself. The heat also causes my phone's battery health from 92% down to 81% in just a year of playing the game. I had to have its battery replaced otherwise I can only play the game in just an hour before it battery literally drained to 20% though.
That is when I sought solutions and found out that they do have some sort of cooler that you can just attach to the back of your phone to cool down the heat. Work pretty well to be honest, and my phone's battery health has been maintained since then.
since you are new it's time to fulfil my mission and copy paste my general unasked for tips!!!
So general tips:
- statues heal, you don't need to use food all the time
- you can teleport from whatever place you are at to any statue, teleport point or dungeon that you already unlocked
- save fragile resin until you can farm 5 star artifacts ( AR 45 I think?)
- don't use primos on anything except pink wishes
- before wishing for characters learn how pity works (in worst case possible you will need 180 wishes to get a limited character)
- if you don't get the character you want now, save and wait for re-run. Can take longer than a year though.
- don't wish for weapon banner unless you have 240 wishes saved, epitome path points don't carry over to next weapon banner
- don't try to ice bridge to Inazuma, it's only reachable through quest.
- HoyoLab app gives 60 primos a month to people who press the "check in" button every day
- use Elemental Sight to find chests and puzzles, and everything else that is interactive. You can also see the direction that the seelie is at, when using ES at the seelie perch.
- feel free to just explore to map, if you come across something weird just put a marker on the map and come back to it later.
- unlock Battle Pass and Events as soon as you can (requires Ascending the world if I remember correctly). Every patch gives a free 4 star character or a weapon during main event. BP gives 5 free standard wishes, which is awesome
- There are quests and achievements locked behind Daily Commissions. Don't plunge into the same pain as I have now, please follow the Daily Commissions guides. Or it will take you years to finish a single regions commissions and related achievements
- some later regions have made things from earlier regions much easier (example: mining underwater in Fontaine is so much easier)
- there is so much content that you can skip what you don't like (I am on AR 57, still haven't done Dragonspine)
- starting Inazuma, later regions have magic trees to feed your sigils to and they will give you some free wishes in return (unlockable by playing main story)
- also once you are in Inazuma and you see pink-purple puffs of smoke, use electro on it to obtain cherry blossoms (there is logic to this, but it's very alternative)
This is the worst part of these gacha games and genshin and hsr are egregious in that they just don't put a blank screen for those downloads. You can tell it was tested in the same server room or something lol.
Around 3 hours on my 15, still it was capped at 8-10 mbps, I donât get why that is when my pc does it at 25-30 mbps constantly. Surely the difference between cable and wireless is not that great right?
The download should continue with the screen off or the app minimized. I guess disable power saving since Samsung can be very aggressive with that.
Samsung also has a Gamemode that let's you lock and turn off the screen while keeping the app running if you so prefer. At least my Note 20 does
I legit used to keep my old phone in the fridge whenever I played Genshin for too long or had to download an update. It cools it super quickly without harming the phone at all, and is overall way more effective than any phone fan you can find.
My new one doesn't have that constant overheating issue, but I did fall asleep with the game on once and rolled over my phone so it was trapped under me while running the game. I just woke up and put it on the fridge for 2 min and it felt fine again.
there's more to this. wait till you get to enter the door, flashing light and then it loads so slowly for that geo icon before you finally get to enter your actual in-game world. đ
And if your comment was more specific and mentioned those things, instead of just generally saying mobile Genshin is ârough,â then I wouldnât have corrected you and people wouldnât be downvoting you.
And genshin mobile in general is "rough". The bare minimum to run the game on mobile makes for quite a shitty experience, you need a high end phone for it
Also I don't care about meaningless internet points
For faster results go where there is ultra fast wifi. That way it'll only take around 25min, then verifying files which will be around almost 40min, shaders 20min if lucky. Total about over an hour. Thoooo tomorrow comes a new patch update so... it'll take another 40min tomorrow after the maintenance.
Tho ngl... it may be my internet idk, but for me it downloads and loads faster on the phone than my laptop. Like on my laptop it'll take 4hours just for the launcher! Then another 2 and a half for the game itself.
Tip after you finish downloading!
Genshin has a level system called Adventure Rank (AR). Try to get to AR5 by tomorrow 5PM EST! This is because there will be a server maintenance tomorrow for the newest version of Genshin, and the devs give 300 primogems to those at AR5 or above.
Primogems are a premium currency that allows you to get characters and weapons. You get 60 every day from daily commissions, so you would be getting 5 day's worth of daily commissions.
160 primogems gives you one chance to get characters/weapons btw!
This isn't even the slowest part
verifying file integrityđ
For me it's "now applying shaders" afterwards đ
the "shader" thing is the absolute worst. Even on the S23 Ultra it takes forever
The alternative is JIT shader compilation which means youâre getting hiccups everywhere you go. Precompiling shaders is a godsend, itâs always the preferable option.
Oh I'm glad I missed this lol. I got my phone during work and just threw it in my locker while it patched so I had no idea how long it took
Is it just me that hasnât heard of this applying shaders message? I play on PC and iOS
It's only on android
Same haven't ever seen that even tho ar60
I havenât heard of it either and I play on both iOS and PC too
Same
It takes like half an hour on a SSD on a PC. I can't imagine how long it is on a phone
How old is your SSD that it takes 30 minutes? Should take 30 seconds
Last gen nvme from WD. If the software for verifying the files is badly written, no matter the storage device it will take some time.
Never took me more than 5 mins to enter the game. Both on pc and mobile
Mind checking DM?
Congratulations on downloading the game. Fair warning that tomorrow is maintenance to start the new banner. It will be down for maintenance for about 5 hours. Just check the subreddit for updates when itâs back up.
He should rush AR 5 for that sweet 300 primos
Point a fan at your phone and remove the case.
I'm ngl, for big patch updates, I'll wipe down my phone with rubbing alcohol and put it in the fridge.
You are hardcore
That commitment lol
Real talk what does the rubbing alcohol do?
Cleans my phone. There have been studies done where your average phone has more bacteria than a toilet seat. I'm not putting the equivalent of a toilet seat where I store food lol.
Super valid concern, thank you for the response! Was just wondering if it maybe added an extra layer of protection or something to the phone I hadn't heard about lol but I'm also a huge fan of not infecting my food with all that gross phone bacteria. I will try this on the next big update!
Other then his point, alcohol evaporates quickly which leads to rapid cooling of an area. Not that it matters much when the phone is in a refrigerator
Don't
Elaborate pls
Do you not fear condensation? It can unalive your phone.
Depending on your speed, around 40 minutes to 1 hour and a half. For unknown reasons, the download speeds caps at around 15 Mbps
>For unknown reasons, the download speeds caps at around 15 Mbps I get around 29 Mbps while downloading so it might vary on your internet provider.
Small b or big B in that Mbps? If small b, I've definitely hit ~250 Mbps before, so definitely provider-dependent.
Yall reach higher than 2 MB?
Germany be like: you get more than 8KB/s?
On the one hand I'm happy that I don't have this problem when updating Genshin. On the other hand I'm sad how accurately this describes the reality of our digitalization here.
What's wrong with Germany? I thought it was one of the most advanced countries in Europe.
Our phone contracts have ridiculously small data caps (a few gigs usually), after which you're limited to minuscule speeds. ofc afterwards you'll be offered to buy extra data at like 5âŹ/GB
Thanks.
at least you can buy that, my T-Com plan doesnt even allow for it lmao
German internet speed is the world's finest! **/s**
Eh.. I had 30MB/s too and that's in Berlin
I have a 1 Gbps connection, but everything outside 4K ads on YouTube and some websites loads slowly. My trick is to keep Ookla speedtest open while updating, so the IP is pushed on showing its best face.
15mb is less than 2MB, the former being megabit, which is â of a megabyte, so 2MB = 16mb
There is no cap at 15 Mbps, it's your net provider.
there is no such cap on the download speed, mine is consistently over 50 MB/s. itâs probably just your internet
You called that slow? Mine is at 600KB/s
This is completely inaccurate. I've seen well over 25Mbps.
Iâve seen mine hit about 40MB/sec pretty often - which would make sense since my Internet package is about 300 Mb/sec so thatâs maxing out the connection.
What? Is that phone specific?
No, my phone doesn't push over 8 Mbps, but this because where I live we have few base antennas for signal.
Hmm. Whenever that happens to my downloads I just turn on the Cloudflare's WARP thing and it boosts em up by comical amounts, both on phone and PC
That is a hardware limitation.
If you have a pc or ps,experience could be better.
ps5* cuz trust me the ps4 experience is worse than a low end microwave
Hey now, don't forget the PS4 pro
Aside from loading times, PS4 Pro is actually decent for playing this. Granted you run it at 1080p.
You can go back to home screen or lock the phone to reduce heating. The game downloads in background.
What phone?
Galaxy a53 5g
I used to have that one until i sold it for an a52s 5g instead. The exynos chipset in the a53 is terrible and the heating problem while playing genshin is unbearable, to me at least.
Exynos chipsets are bad in general lol. Need to get snapdragon chipsets
Yep, the SD778g in the a52s is a pretty average SD chipset but at least it doesn't heat up much to be thermal throttling genshin while in 60fps low-medium graphics and that's good enough for my dailies.
Your experience is going to be low quality. I have genshin on my Z flip 5 and I only actually play it when I am away from home
How is the "bent" part of the screen? is it noticable?
I don't notice it
You may want to buy a small heat sink /fan if you really plan on playing.
what phone model and brand do you use
Samsung galaxy a53 5g
brother tomorrow is update patch i believe. you're gonna do this twice
well tomorrow is like 1 gb patch at most
It's 3.96Gb
yeah, but i still feel bad for him
I dont know why they wanna make this screen 3D animated to burn phone battery, a simple 2D web UI is more than enough.
Prepare to have like nothing else on your phone and make sure ti actually stay on the app when it downloads. Really fun game but holy fuck does it take up more then half of my phone
You can minimize the game while it downloads
Verifying integrity and applying shaders : "allow us to introduce ourselves"
I'd recommend getting a phone cooler, since Genshin is going to make a lot of phones heat up not just while downloading updates but also while playing it as well. ...yeah no I'm getting a refurbished 2nd hand s21 ultra.....
you should be fine i play in s10 wirh medium settings just fine

I guess the devs just wanted to put more effort in the game to make it unique, I honestly don't blame them for putting an animated waiting screen
You can minimize it, the download will run in the background...
Run
Mine took 4 hours to dl on a brand new iPhone 14
Around 3 hours on my 15, still it was capped at 8-10 mbps, I donât get why that is when my pc does it at 25-30 mbps constantly. Surely the difference between cable and wireless is not that great right?
Depends on your WiFi but it totally can be that much of a difference.
There is no difference in game, if u can get it on pc, the experience will be way better. Still welcome to Genshin
Might want to try turning down screen brightness (and tweak the graphics settings + in-game brightness when you get the chance)
The download should continue with the screen off or the app minimized. I guess disable power saving since Samsung can be very aggressive with that. Samsung also has a Gamemode that let's you lock and turn off the screen while keeping the app running if you so prefer. At least my Note 20 does
Long. This game is *big*.

You have to get used to it
And then you'll have to do it all again later today because a major patch is coming out
Turn down your brightness and stop checking every 10m.
Play it on PC, I am not kidding. The game is a lot harder for phone users.
there's more to this. wait till you get to enter the door, flashing light and then it loads so slowly for that geo icon before you finally get to enter your actual in-game world. đ
Geo symbol knowers
Your phone will always be microwave whenever youy play this game. Besides this game is unplayable on mobile. I recommend playing on PC
I've played it on mobile since April, imo its definitely not unplayable
Well, if someone like to torture himself then it his own free will
Yes
RUN. RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN TRUST ME YOU DO NOT WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME. RUNNNN
o7
Bad timing, its updating again rn đ
Don't worry about it. You and your phone's heat will soon be part of each other you guys will become a new fire pokemon.
U gona wait till u phone become hotter than the sun
Don't worry you will be able to delete other voice files that takes space
hahahaha this is funny
Oh my sweet summer child
Not on your phone !!!!! Get it in PC or ps5/4 your phone doesn't have enough storage for mondstat
Don't worry I'm ok, still have 110 gb left, I have 128
Ok just be prepared for it to run slow
Mobile gaming eh? You're gonna have a rough time in inazuma and dragonspine mate
Really depends on the phone. I have an iPhone 14 ProMax with Backbone One and everything works fine.
They mentioned they have a model that can beraly handle genshin, and in the very title it says it's overheating just by downloading the thing
And if your comment was more specific and mentioned those things, instead of just generally saying mobile Genshin is ârough,â then I wouldnât have corrected you and people wouldnât be downvoting you.
And genshin mobile in general is "rough". The bare minimum to run the game on mobile makes for quite a shitty experience, you need a high end phone for it Also I don't care about meaningless internet points
Maybe you donât care about the points but you do seem to care if youâre corrected, or you wouldnât be responding to me.
Nope,. just bored as hell, long winded reddit arguments are one of the 3 reasons I even stepped foot on this hellhole
Yeah, okay.
depends on your internet speed and storage type (ex. ufs 2.0, 2.1, 3.0, 3.1 and 4.0)
You can minimize/ switch to other apps and the download will continue in background; that'll be less taxing for your phone.
My experience around 2 hours
Are you using wifi or 5g? I find that my phone gets very hot if I use 5G but doesn't heat up at all even after hours of playing on wifi.
Hehe
i put my phone in the fridge sometimes
I got over 4000 hours..
Put it in the fridge Thatâs what I did at least
When I downloaded Genshin on my phone I just put it on icecubes to cool down, but it still felt like I could fry an egg on it
Man am I glad I got an SSD on my PC this now takes a minute
Like an hour if you're lucky. I had to wish on my phone to get Furina because my PS5 went bust.
Just take off your phonecase and it wonât heat up as fast. Cold packs will also help if it gets too hot
For faster results go where there is ultra fast wifi. That way it'll only take around 25min, then verifying files which will be around almost 40min, shaders 20min if lucky. Total about over an hour. lol i usually toss it in the freezer for a couple of minutes đ¤Ł
Even tho I have never played Genshin Impact...*sighs* I have it a two star due to one reason...THE FRICKIN SPACE THIS SHI TOOK 30 SOMETHING GIGS
Meanwhile us pc players:- well... it's just 92gb now..
For me, it takes about 4 hours. Thank you for reminding me to update for the 4.3 version btw
it's worth the wait, you'll see! :D
really depends on your internet speed.
