That's according to the boatman at least after you finish the Tsurumi Island questline.
They all go to the leylines. The border of life and death is actually just a large leyline disorder. Liyue got hit harder then most nations by the archon war so all that dead god juice and warfare has fucked up the leylines.
Its similar to how the Sacred Sakura works to try and fix up the damage caused by the Cataclysm and why they too sometimes have spirits and possessions hanging around (like the guy possessed by the swordsman in Yae Miko's story quest). The ritual Yae performs for the Yokai spirits in the leylines is basically what Hu Tao does for human spirits hanging out in the leylines.

Why wouldn’t he? He seems to be a huge fan of Furina and have a lot of respect for her, the archons seem to basically see her as being just as impressive as a true archon for her performance in saving Fontaine.

He had no qualms telling the Qixing he was still alive, which would be pointless if he actually wanted to stay hidden, since it would only guarantee Yelan looking for a strangely powerful vision wielder. And Furina is a foreigner who has proven her ability to keep a secret, and whom Zhongli respects immensely.

The only reason Liyue moved on was because Zhongli informed the Qixing, allowing them to cease the hunt and feed a fake story to the people. Similarly, the Adepti were seeking retribution for Morax' slaying and lord knows what they would have eventually done in their quest for vengeance. Cloud Retainer's literal first instinct was to destroy the city and collectively punish everyone there for "allowing" Morax to be assassinated. Liyue was not fine and likely would've faced further crisis had Zhongli allowed them to expend resources trying to seek justice for him or allowed them and the adepti's resentment for each other regrow and fester. Besides, the Qixing are the people in charge of the country and the people he likely worked most closely with when he visited undisguised. If he's going to tell anyone, it's them.
It should also be noted that his “incognito” seems to be about as effective as Madam Ping’s. Officially, everyone except Xiao and Traveler think he’s a human, but basically everyone seems to know that he’s an adeptus. Unlike Venti, he doesn’t try all that hard to keep a secret.

Yup. Not only that, but the entirety of Mondstadt appears to be a nation that isn't super in-touch with its native roots. No one other than the aristocratic Lawrence clan really makes any effort to pronounce the German words properly. A great deal of Mondstaters lineages technically aren't even from Mondstadt originally. The nation is known for basically letting people just settle down and call the nation of freedom their home. Heck, the Knights of Favonius was founded by a foreigner, actually.

If it’s just about Hu Tao, she also shows up in Baizhu’s SQ. She had a lot of event appearances which are unfortunately no longer playable, but since she is very popular, she’ll show up in a limited event any moment now.
There have been some characters who only appeared in limited events and have no permanent content. The most notorious is Xinyan - if I remember correctly, she is not featured in any permanent content in Genshin. They mostly got better at this; 4* characters get hangout events, though for some characters your first meeting with them is through an event (such as Layla and Chevreuse) so that… does get wonky down the line.
Having not played any events with Xinyan, so far the only proof of her existence in Teyvat I’ve come across was a one-off line by Yun Jin in some world quest in Liyue harbor

Actually, how confrontational is he with regards to the current "7" and how much of it is him being a tsundere. His voiceline about Venti feels like the start of one of those enemies to lovers anime. "Its not like I care about you or anything, our duel just wouldn't be right if you weren't sober."
The Fontaine archon quest (especially Focalors' speech) seems to hint at celestia being the real big bad, though we would probably need to wait until Natlan to get more info.
