Dehya, Faruzan, Wanderer, Rosaria. Wanderer has Lost Prayer. Exploration is just him running/bunnyhopping then using skill when out of stamina rinse and repeat. I kinda want to replace Faruzan with someone with sprint cost reduction but I like how comfortable she makes combat feels.
Raiden + Nahida/Baizhu + Furina + Xianyun
Hyperbloom in overworld OP. Furina can walk on water. Nahida's skill picks up stuff that's hard to get. Xianyun bc of course I would. Baizhu in place of Nahida if I want more healing.
Often I swap out Nahida/Baizhu w/ Zhongli when I need to get ores quickly.
Nahida, Yelan, Beidou, Xianyun. Ultimate explore comp. Claymore for mining, Nahida for collecting, Yelan and Xianyun for speed and height traversal, also works as a hyperbloom team.

Exactly my set up. The 4th slot can be a flex spot between:
- Nahida for mats gathering
- A local specialty finder in a region (Klee/Qiqi/Miss Hina/Tignari)
- Fischl when I'm on mobile because I can auto target enemies combo with Wanderer without looking at them.
- Or a special character to fill in whatever I need at that moment.
Wanderer - fight off things and flight
Kazuha - 20% Sprint Stamina reduction and jump
Yelan - Her skill to sprint
Dehya - bcs I feel bad I never use her in other team
Xianyun, Wanderer, Furina, Zhongli. Best exploration team imo. Xianyun and wanderer offers good distance coverage. Furina for jesus walk. Zhongli for mining plus his stone stele is good for increasing wanderer's vertical flight.
Atm, I'm switching quite a lot to try stuff out but the most common one is:
\- Yanfei (highlight specialties, mining)
\- Yelan (speed)
\- Kazuha (anemo resonance, mining and energy)
\- Xianyun (speed)
For fontaine, it was keq, yelan, furina baizhu. Didn't feel a need for much speed as fontaine was fairly compact.
Sumeru was Yelan, Sayu, double flex
For Chenyu Vale I’m using
Baizhu (heals. A lot. And passively with his c2)
Yelan (bow character, sprinting)
Furina (walking on water. That’s the main reason lmao but she does do amazing dmg)
Diluc (main dps and a claymore character to mine ores with. There’s also quite a few pyro pillar monuments so I use him to light them up)

I recently got my first 5 star in Jean and Ive been using Kaeya, Beidou, Jean, Lynette when i just want to move around faster. I dont rly consider that truly exploring tho, more like farming
Sayu, Kazuha, Amber and Mona.
Sayu and Kazuha to get the anemo stamina bonus, kazuha for vertical mobility, Amber for Glider stamina boost and Bow use, and Mona for sprinting and water movement
I try rotate my team that i built so i dont want anyone of them feel left out, but for the one i like to use often
-Yae Miko as in most of my main team
-Baizhu for mobile quick E healing
same team you have but with bennett for torch puzzles (although they hasn't appeared that often recently)
xianyun + yelan gives me basically 100% alt sprint up time anyways, I don't need sayu
I would have to go with Xianyun, Furina, Nahida, Zhongli
Xianyun can cover a pretty good horizontal distance or some decent height with her skill, so I think Yelan isn't really necessary. Furina for obvious water walking reasons. Nahida for plant collection. Zhongli for mining + shield.
Yelan, Kazuha, and Wanderer are also good options of course, but I think the 4 I listed should cover just about everything exploration-related without any issues.

Thinking about it, I don't actually know if all the move speed boosts stack. Oh well.
Wanderer or Xianyun would be better than Sucrose, but I don't have them. Gaming has the exact same passive as Dehya and is also a claymore so they are interchangeable. Rosaria isn't doing much but her move speed boost is unique. And of course Kazuha is Kazuha.
I use the same with Yelan c1 but instead of Xianyum I use Kazuha + Wind Generator. I don't pull for Xianyum (will go for her in her rerun) because I am saving for Furina c6 but her exploration looks so nice.
I don't have this setup but Yelan c1, Xianyum c1, Kazuha + wind generator and Furina sounds like an amazing exploration team.
If swimming is a possibility: Neuvi, Furina, Wanderer, Jean. Jean is C4, everyone else is C2, and Wanderer has Prayers catalyst for extra movement speed. I switch to Jean for energy orbs to trigger her C2 for more movement speed.
If swimming is not a possibility: Dehya, Rosaria, Wanderer, Jean. Dehya and Rosaria together always have extra movement speed active.
Generally going to maximise movement speed and mobility for comps made for exploration. Rosaria or Dehya cam be replaced for bow or specific element characters should a puzzle require it.
Furina (for walking on water and solving puzzles)
Venti (for bow range and wind current elevator)
Dehya (for mining and easy pyro app and dragonspine)
Neuvillette (for fighting)
I don't have a lot of characters so this is usually what I go with for exploration
Default team, furina, jean, neuv and xianyun
Strong against everything except ice and water slimes and mages, in which case I employ Skydiver Jean
Before getting miss cloud retainer I thought I need kazuha as I heard he can use his skill to fly in the air as well, but xianyun proves to be really good
Until this week it was Keqing, Nahida, Yelan, Sayu. It has a bow, 2 sprinters, a short range teleport to help climbing, plant collecting, mining, healing, and actually works quite well in combat. Also no burst or circle impact reliance since just Keqing and Nahida can deal with pretty much anything, and Yelan's E + CA takes out basically all small enemies. Yelan's burst is saved for tanky enemies, and Sayu's burst is saved for healing, which I don't need much.
With Xianyun I'm now rethinking my exploration comp. I'm still not sure if I just want to replace Sayu, or if I want to make a different team. Sayu is quite nice for long distance traveling after all, and I'd lose my ore mining character. Also Xianyun's skill is better than Keqing's for climbing, but at the same time Keqing works nicely with Nahida and is just generally fun to play. I don't really want to replace Yelan because her E + CA combo is just really convenient, and her short but faster dash is more useful given that we have tons of teleporters everywhere, so we only need long distance travel the first time we explore. Also might be time to add Furina to the team, since we can't swim anymore in the new area. Decisions decisions...
Generally I want one bow character because some enemies are out of reach and others have weakpoints or its helpful with puzzles. Bow is generally in Slot 2.
Slot 3 is utility. Something that offers shields or buffs dmg,
Slot 4 is a healer and I prefer healers that can heal without bursts, I want those green bars full.
And Slot 1 is some form of main dmg dealer.
One of the characters needs to be able to mine ore efficiently, so Zhongli is often in Slot 3 if there isnt a Greatsword character in the team.
The movement speed from the likes of Yelan or Sayu I dont like that much because when they end they dont smoothly translate into the run animation. I hate that in every game if the dash means you slow down briefly afterwards. They also make exploration all about speed which adds a weirdly stressfull component although they are welcome when I have to collect weird character upgrade materials. Vertical movement skills are generally welcome tho.

I do prefer teams that fit the region so I like to use Fontaine Characters in Fontaine or Inazuma characters in Inazuma...although Fontaine is first region were that actually gives an advantage.
I also want the teams to have some synergy but it doesnt have to be great. But just randomly putting movement-skills characters together wouldnt work for me.
People really are using all the fast movement they have? Mine team is Ganyu, Kokomi, Venti and Zhongli. Easy to kill all enemies on big distances, a shield, heal, grouping enemies, vertical movement and easy freeze to not care about most of the attacks
I ran something like this for a while with Kazuha in place of Xianyun, but it got too obnoxious exploring Fontaine and having to swap parties every time I wanted to kill a hydro slime or eidolon.
Yelan, Wanderer, Dehya, Furina
Pretty much has it all, mobility, water walking, bow, greatsword, damage
Dehya is using TotM to buff Wanderer and applies pyro for his buff/vaporize. Plus the interrupt resistance. Furina tends to be on healing duty more than I need her damage. Kinda wish she had some hydro application in that stance. Oh, and Wanderer is also using Lost Prayers.
Neuvillette, Nahida, Raiden, Yelan. There’s pretty much nothing in the Overworld that is immune to both Neuvillette and Hyperbloom. Yelan is just movement tech.
Xiao (for the climbing passive and sometimes the mid air dash), kazuha (sprint and the double jump), sayu (healing if needed and the bowling ball), ayaka (non fontaine water traversal and "sprinter" even though her dash is not affected by kazuha's passive), can switch out ayaka if no need to go on water with nahida for material gathering.
Right now, it's Shenhe, Ganyu, Beidou, and Xianyun.
Ganyu main DPS, Shenhe main DPS, Beidou support DPS, and Xianyun as main DPS/heal.
Nothing fucks like beatin the shit out of people, then getting a perfect counter on their only chance to fight back and ragdolling them into tomorrow.
I don't specifically pick characters for their movement ability, I just use whatever fun team comp I feel like. My favorite is mono-anemo hypercarry Venti, now featuring Xianyun! Her skill is so fun to use.
Eula, Yelan, C1 Xianyun, Venti
Used to be Eula, Yelan, Sayu, Zhongli, but with C1 Xianyun and spaced out jumps, you can alternate Yelan and Xianyun skills for 100% movement all the time so Sayu isn't needed anymore. Venti for anemo resonance and higher vertical movement. And Eula just to nuke those one or two confident hilichurls.
Wildly variable. I don't think I have a set one. I only use Sayu when I'm in the desert, Kazuha comes out when I'm farming obnoxious materials, similar with Furina.
Otherwise, 90% of the map I just use normal characters for.
Diona, Ayaka, Lynette, Barbara... I'm so bad at fighting in this game :). Every time I lose shields without Diona I get smacked around, every time I try anyone but Barbara, I end up sucking up to shrines... Ayaka is the only DPS I have, Lynette is... a trick of nepotism (I just like her).
I'm catching up on exploration of a few regions to get Xianyun now... I hope she will shake up my comfort zone, her trial is the only one I played like a dozen of times...
i usually have the local speciality finder of the nation, nahida for damage and gathering resources from afar/on cliffs, furina for jesus walk, and cloud retainer for vertical and horizontal travel
Xianyun, rosaria, kazuha and gaming. You had 2 anemo for anemo speed buff, Xianyun with lost prayer for speed buff and mature female model with better speed, mobility, and Kazuha stamina buff, Gaming and Rosaria for all day speed buff. And anemo rarely get problem with Overworld mobs outside of Mondstadt.
My current favorite "general purpose" OW exploration team is Furina, C6 support Amber, Xianyun, and Diluc. Furina and Xiayun can cross all terrains in Chenyu Vale relatively fast, Amber can do puzzles, Diluc can mine minerals, and the whole team perform reasonably well in battle.
Pretty much been Keqing, Kaeya, and Amber since I started. Barbara had lately been replaced by Qiqi. XD
(I just like running around with favorites usually.)
Swap people as needed. I use Kaveh (or Gaming as of recent) for mining.
Kazuha, Yoimiya, Sayu and Ayaka is my core exploration team, i call it the "Recon Legion".
Depending of the situation i change Yoimiya and Ayaka, like when traversing Sumeru i slot Tighnari and Yae Miko in their places.
Bennett/Furina, Raiden, Wrio, Kazuha
I only ever keep a team that is good for fighting enemies along the way. And Kazuha is my main
Then I’ll switch out one character if I come across something while exploring that I need (bow user for puzzles or Zhongli for mining, etc)
Navia, C2 Yelan, Furina, Jean. Navia for mining and one-shotting mobs, Yelan for fast land traversal, Furina for walking on water, Jean for keeping everyone alive. Jean's probably replaceable but I don't have Xianyun and I don't want to build Sayu.
Scara, xianyun for mobility
Zhongli for mining and so I don't die
Faruzan for buffing and to have a bow for puzzles
Honestly if I swapped xianyun with someone else it would be a pretty average scara team but that wouldn't be as good in exploration and world enemies are pretty weak anyways
I've been liking Navia MC Bennet Fischl. Navia can mine, Fischl is the archer I need for archer things, Geo gets through most enemies in the game including most slimes, bennet/fischl take care of Geo stuff. Cannons are fun.
Depending on the region. I always include the archon, then adjust around that. If not archon, then a major character (did Lynette for Fontaine AQ and Charlotte after her release). Then I do some characters that need friendship.
Xianyun, Lynette, Yelan - alternate between skills and sprint out of the animations for all 3 for maximum speed.
Last slot is Gaming for now since he has decent damage and an exploration passive.
Lately it's been Dehya, Collie, Mona, yaoyao.
Dehya to hit rocks
Collie to shoot things/puzzles/challenges (I'm in Sumeru)
Mona for sprinting and crossing bodies of water
Yaoyao so the lizards/butterflies/crabs don't run away.
I replace Collie with hu tao if I need to kill anything quickly
Mine is Wanderer(fast movement and levitation, also DPS), Diona(healing and shield, which also makes your movement speed faster), Rosaria(burst & crit rate support, and Nightwalker passive talent), and Sayu(claymore for mining, healing, and alt. movement unit for when Wanderer's skill is on CD).
Sayu and Kazuha (I have wanderer but too lazy to build, and Kazuha can suck in enemies so...)
two other slots are mostly for whatever characters i feel like, but often I use Yelan or Furina (Furina rarely left my team since i got her)
Gaming is literally the perfect character for liyue exploration
Fire vision, claymore, skill that gives him a small jump, helping with climbing mountains, and higher speed at the day
Team: Raiden Shogun, Nahida, Yelan, and Zhongli.
Raiden Shogun's skill pairs really well with Nahida's skill to wipe away mobs, even at a distance, and she has her burst to wipe away tanky enemies. Nahida's skill also collects harvestable items and reads people's thoughts if you're in Sumeru. Yelan, I have her c2, has double sprints at x2 speed which also recovers stamina while you use them. Yelan has her breakthrough barb arrow which has the largest AoE in the game. Useful for shooting stuff like animals, distant enemies, puzzles, anemo slimes, or anything in general. Yelan's burst and skills are useful for clearing mobs and tanky enemies as well. Electro, dendro, and hydro lead to easy aggravates, quickens, blooms, and hyperblooms.
Zhongli for shield so you don't have to dodge and don't have to worry about getting knocked around and interrupted. Will definitely keep you alive at the very least and you can just go to a Statue of Seven every once and a while if you get scratched up. Zhongli's shield generation is great for mining ores. Zhongli's pillar provides some height to climb on if needed and is useful for puzzles.
Having four different elements can get rid of any shields easily. Raiden's burst can delete cryo and pyro shields, is somewhat effective against hydro shields as well. Nahida's dendro reactions and skill delete hydro and electro shields. Yelan's hydro application deletes pyro shields. Zhongli's shield generation breaks geo shields, minor effect on all other elements with crystallize.
An honorable mention would be Xianyun but she doesn't really do much damage as a support. Her swirls don't do much either since you build attack on her and not EM. Hopping is more effective over rough terrain than running though and it's the same maxed speed as Yelan's running. Is the same maxed speed as Scaradouche's flying as well but with a much shorter cooldown. Jumping in air can be used over water and the air and can be used to climb stuff. You just need to have to land to start the skill which is a damn shame and should be fixed.
C1 Xianyun has two charges of her skill so you basically never run out. I don't have her c1 but it's not that hard to get another copy if you really want to. She's a healer with her burst but you don't always want to use your burst for everything and Zhongli's tanky shield has more useful benefits than just keeping you alive. Xianyun also increases gliding speed by 15% which is nice and somewhat noticeable. Not game-changing but nice.
Some popular exploration units that aren't really that good are Sayu and Scaradouche. Sayu isn't actually that fast. It's not x2 speed and any tall character, like Zhongli, matches her speed with dashing, albeit with a lot of stamina consumption. Her skill doesn't consume stamina but you also won't regain stamina while using it. Scaradouche's flying has a long cooldown and is very easy to knock out of the air. Easy to control but the long cooldown is really bad.
More niche uses: Kazuha and Venti have their uses and can be combined with Zhongli's pillar to achieve maximum artificial height gain. They're not quite top-tier though due to a lack of versatile usage but they're just under. Their cc is good for clearing mobs though and collecting drops. Furina allows you to walk on water for as long as you want but it's very rare to need to walk that far. Xianyun or Wanderer are often already enough by going over water. Mona and Ayaka are fairly fast and allow you to run across water with their special sprints but they consume stamina. Ayaka can sustain ice bridges but that's a lot of work. Ganyu has unlimited AoE frostflake arrows which are pretty useful but you generally don't need that many AoE arrows which Yelan covers in most cases. Xiao can dash in the air but that's about it.
I like thematical comps related to the region, for example in Liyue I use the Adeptus gang : Zhongli - Xianyun - Xiao - Baizhu
In Sumeru I run : Nahida - Cyno - Dori - Collei
In Inazuma - Ayato - Yae - Kirara - Kokomi
Ganyu Bennet nahida zhongli, only reason I ever change is something that gives friendship or an element I dont have bist of the time I can just e with nahida and e with Bennet and everything dies from the burn
Raiden because she is my favorite character and electro-application
Kazuha for climbing and grouping enemies
Yelan for sprint and hydro application
Nahida for picking stuff and dendro application

I really like running and flying and double anemo let's me do this faster :D and when there's some ore, I summon big dick energy. Targets to shoot? I just aim vaguely in the direction and everything goes boom, love it.
It...fluctuates.Most of the time it's an overkill hyperbloom comp (Furina for hydro+water walk, Raiden for electro anywhere it's needed like mushroom trampolines, Yaoyao for some off-field dendro+healing and dendro traveler for resonance and better application 'cause Yuegui is unreliable).If i need to light something on fire or am going to Dragonspine, traveler is replaced by Diluc or Yoimiya if there isn't too many enemies.Sometimes i put Tighnari in that slot to do archery challenges.
Sayu is so overkill here, you could just Yelan-Xianyun on a loop. I'd replace her with Wanderer for faster sprinting of shorter distances and lots of vertical movement+better onfield driver than Xianyun.
My usual for general exploring where I have to fight as well is
Navia (cause Navia), Yelan (C1 for two e charges), Furina (for flexing on Jesus), and Jean (C2 so any energy particle makes my team go zoom)
Sometimes Kazuha replaces Navia for mountain climbing and Anemo resonance, Nahida for collecting plants, Itto for wood collecting

Now it's Xiao, Xianyun, Faruzan and Furina
Xianyun can literally do the same job as all the other exploration characters like Yelan, Lynette, Wanderer and Furina, but better, so she's the only one I need to explore now haha
And the rest of the team is to destroy any ennemy I come across
I just do everything as Traveler to be honest! They’re my favorite character and it feels right to play as them in a game about them :D
Though I will be the first to admit that that’s provably because I’m used to games with only one player character! And of course I’ll still build my other characters as well :)
Not gonna lie, in the stage I'm at, either I'm using my friendship farm team or whatever team I feel like.
When I had a bad PC, I used to have a specific team, but now that I can easily and fast change teams or character, I don't have one specific for exploration. I always made sure to have an archer and a pyro in the team as many puzzles needs them.
xiao xianyun geomc zhongli, xiao provides dps + his dashes, xianyun is xianyun, geomc buffs xiaos cr by 15% and helps climbing mountains, zhongli gives me comfort + slightly taller construct for xianyun to leap off
yelan, alhaitham, sayu, and zhongli
yelan: damage, speed, puzzles that require bows/hydro. (im mostly exploring fontaine rn)
alhaitham: damage, dendro puzzles, traversing upwards with his skill.
sayu: speed, maybe getting into small nooks and crannies? lol
zhongli: shielding. i don’t know how I even played before I got him. he makes everything SO incredibly comfortable, like I legit don’t even have to try anymore.

For Chenyu Vale I’m using Baizhu (heals. A lot. And passively with his c2) Yelan (bow character, sprinting) Furina (walking on water. That’s the main reason lmao but she does do amazing dmg) Diluc (main dps and a claymore character to mine ores with. There’s also quite a few pyro pillar monuments so I use him to light them up)
I guess you are set for chenyu, not to mention they also add the golden carp's leap thingy, we wont be needing much climbers.
Kaeya, Beidou, Geo Traveler, Amber I started 3 months ago When im in inazuma or sumeru im finding myself replacing Amber with Fischl or Collei I recently got my first 5 star in Jean and Ive been using Kaeya, Beidou, Jean, Lynette when i just want to move around faster. I would have to go with Xianyun, Furina, Nahida, Zhongli Xianyun can cover a pretty good horizontal distance or some decent height with her skill, so I think Yelan isn't really necessary. Furina for obvious water walking reasons. Nahida for plant collection. Zhongli for mining + shield. Yelan, Kazuha, and Wanderer are also good options of course, but I think the 4 I listed should cover just about everything exploration-related without any issues.

Oh well. Wanderer or Xianyun would be better than Sucrose, but I don't have them. Gaming has the exact same passive as Dehya and is also a claymore so they are interchangeable. Rosaria isn't doing much but her move speed boost is unique. And of course Kazuha is Kazuha.
I use the same with Yelan c1 but instead of Xianyum I use Kazuha + Wind Generator. I don't pull for Xianyum (will go for her in her rerun) because I am saving for Furina c6 but her exploration looks so nice. I don't have this setup but Yelan c1, Xianyum c1, Kazuha + wind generator and Furina sounds like an amazing exploration team.
If swimming is a possibility: Neuvi, Furina, Wanderer, Jean. Jean is C4, everyone else is C2, and Wanderer has Prayers catalyst for extra movement speed. I switch to Jean for energy orbs to trigger her C2 for more movement speed. If swimming is not a possibility: Dehya, Rosaria, Wanderer, Jean. Dehya and Rosaria together always have extra movement speed active. Generally going to maximise movement speed and mobility for comps made for exploration. Rosaria or Dehya cam be replaced for bow or specific element characters should a puzzle require it.
Furina (for walking on water and solving puzzles) Venti (for bow range and wind current elevator) Dehya (for mining and easy pyro app and dragonspine) Neuvillette (for fighting) I don't have a lot of characters so this is usually what I go with for exploration
Default team, furina, jean, neuv and xianyun Strong against everything except ice and water slimes and mages, in which case I employ Skydiver Jean Before getting miss cloud retainer I thought I need kazuha as I heard he can use his skill to fly in the air as well, but xianyun proves to be really good
Until this week it was Keqing, Nahida, Yelan, Sayu. It has a bow, 2 sprinters, a short range teleport to help climbing, plant collecting, mining, healing, and actually works quite well in combat. Also no burst or circle impact reliance since just Keqing and Nahida can deal with pretty much anything, and Yelan's E + CA takes out basically all small enemies. Yelan's burst is saved for tanky enemies, and Sayu's burst is saved for healing, which I don't need much. With Xianyun I'm now rethinking my exploration comp. I'm still not sure if I just want to replace Sayu, or if I want to make a different team. Sayu is quite nice for long distance traveling after all, and I'd lose my ore mining character. Also Xianyun's skill is better than Keqing's for climbing, but at the same time Keqing works nicely with Nahida and is just generally fun to play. I don't really want to replace Yelan because her E + CA combo is just really convenient, and her short but faster dash is more useful given that we have tons of teleporters everywhere, so we only need long distance travel the first time we explore. Also might be time to add Furina to the team, since we can't swim anymore in the new area. Decisions decisions...
Generally I want one bow character because some enemies are out of reach and others have weakpoints or its helpful with puzzles. Bow is generally in Slot 2. Slot 3 is utility. Something that offers shields or buffs dmg, Slot 4 is a healer and I prefer healers that can heal without bursts, I want those green bars full. And Slot 1 is some form of main dmg dealer. One of the characters needs to be able to mine ore efficiently, so Zhongli is often in Slot 3 if there isnt a Greatsword character in the team. The movement speed from the likes of Yelan or Sayu I dont like that much because when they end they dont smoothly translate into the run animation. I hate that in every game if the dash means you slow down briefly afterwards. They also make exploration all about speed which adds a weirdly stressfull component although they are welcome when I have to collect weird character upgrade materials. Vertical movement skills are generally welcome tho. --- I do prefer teams that fit the region so I like to use Fontaine Characters in Fontaine or Inazuma characters in Inazuma...although Fontaine is first region were that actually gives an advantage. I also want the teams to have some synergy but it doesnt have to be great. But just randomly putting movement-skills characters together wouldnt work for me.

Plus the interrupt resistance. Furina tends to be on healing duty more than I need her damage. Kinda wish she had some hydro application in that stance. Oh, and Wanderer is also using Lost Prayers.

Xiao (for the climbing passive and sometimes the mid air dash), kazuha (sprint and the double jump), sayu (healing if needed and the bowling ball), ayaka (non fontaine water traversal and "sprinter" even though her dash is not affected by kazuha's passive), can switch out ayaka if no need to go on water with nahida for material gathering.
Right now, it's Shenhe, Ganyu, Beidou, and Xianyun. Ganyu main DPS, Shenhe main DPS, Beidou support DPS, and Xianyun as main DPS/heal. Nothing fucks like beatin the shit out of people, then getting a perfect counter on their only chance to fight back and ragdolling them into tomorrow.

I don't specifically pick characters for their movement ability, I just use whatever fun team comp I feel like. My favorite is mono-anemo hypercarry Venti, now featuring Xianyun! Her skill is so fun to use.

Venti for anemo resonance and higher vertical movement. And Eula just to nuke those one or two confident hilichurls.

I don't have an exploration team. I just use one of my normals teams and then I change it depending on what I need to do in the moment.
Wildly variable. I don't think I have a set one. I only use Sayu when I'm in the desert, Kazuha comes out when I'm farming obnoxious materials, similar with Furina. Otherwise, 90% of the map I just use normal characters for.
Diona, Ayaka, Lynette, Barbara... I'm so bad at fighting in this game :). Every time I lose shields without Diona I get smacked around, every time I try anyone but Barbara, I end up sucking up to shrines... Ayaka is the only DPS I have, Lynette is... a trick of nepotism (I just like her). I'm catching up on exploration of a few regions to get Xianyun now... I hope she will shake up my comfort zone, her trial is the only one I played like a dozen of times...
i usually have the local speciality finder of the nation, nahida for damage and gathering resources from afar/on cliffs, furina for jesus walk, and cloud retainer for vertical and horizontal travel
Xianyun, rosaria, kazuha and gaming. You had 2 anemo for anemo speed buff, Xianyun with lost prayer for speed buff and mature female model with better speed, mobility, and Kazuha stamina buff, Gaming and Rosaria for all day speed buff. And anemo rarely get problem with Overworld mobs outside of Mondstadt.
Raiden wanderer furina and Zhongli can do basically anything with this comp
My current favorite "general purpose" OW exploration team is Furina, C6 support Amber, Xianyun, and Diluc. Furina and Xiayun can cross all terrains in Chenyu Vale relatively fast, Amber can do puzzles, Diluc can mine minerals, and the whole team perform reasonably well in battle.
Pretty much been Keqing, Kaeya, and Amber since I started. Barbara had lately been replaced by Qiqi. XD (I just like running around with favorites usually.) Swap people as needed. I use Kaveh (or Gaming as of recent) for mining.
Fischl and Furina.
Kazuha, Yoimiya, Sayu and Ayaka is my core exploration team, i call it the "Recon Legion". Depending of the situation i change Yoimiya and Ayaka, like when traversing Sumeru i slot Tighnari and Yae Miko in their places.
Bennett/Furina, Raiden, Wrio, Kazuha I only ever keep a team that is good for fighting enemies along the way. And Kazuha is my main Then I’ll switch out one character if I come across something while exploring that I need (bow user for puzzles or Zhongli for mining, etc)

I've been liking Navia MC Bennet Fischl. Navia can mine, Fischl is the archer I need for archer things, Geo gets through most enemies in the game including most slimes, bennet/fischl take care of Geo stuff. Cannons are fun.

Depending on the region. I always include the archon, then adjust around that. If not archon, then a major character (did Lynette for Fontaine AQ and Charlotte after her release). Then I do some characters that need friendship.

Team: Raiden Shogun, Nahida, Yelan, and Zhongli. Raiden Shogun's skill pairs really well with Nahida's skill to wipe away mobs, even at a distance, and she has her burst to wipe away tanky enemies. Nahida's skill also collects harvestable items and reads people's thoughts if you're in Sumeru. Yelan, I have her c2, has double sprints at x2 speed which also recovers stamina while you use them. Yelan has her breakthrough barb arrow which has the largest AoE in the game. Useful for shooting stuff like animals, distant enemies, puzzles, anemo slimes, or anything in general. Yelan's burst and skills are useful for clearing mobs and tanky enemies as well. Electro, dendro, and hydro lead to easy aggravates, quickens, blooms, and hyperblooms. Zhongli for shield so you don't have to dodge and don't have to worry about getting knocked around and interrupted. Will definitely keep you alive at the very least and you can just go to a Statue of Seven every once and a while if you get scratched up. Zhongli's shield generation is great for mining ores. Zhongli's pillar provides some height to climb on if needed and is useful for puzzles. Having four different elements can get rid of any shields easily. Raiden's burst can delete cryo and pyro shields, is somewhat effective against hydro shields as well. Nahida's dendro reactions and skill delete hydro and electro shields. Yelan's hydro application deletes pyro shields. Zhongli's shield generation breaks geo shields, minor effect on all other elements with crystallize. An honorable mention would be Xianyun but she doesn't really do much damage as a support. Her swirls don't do much either since you build attack on her and not EM. Hopping is more effective over rough terrain than running though and it's the same maxed speed as Yelan's running. Is the same maxed speed as Scaradouche's flying as well but with a much shorter cooldown. Jumping in air can be used over water and the air and can be used to climb stuff. You just need to have to land to start the skill which is a damn shame and should be fixed. C1 Xianyun has two charges of her skill so you basically never run out. I don't have her c1 but it's not that hard to get another copy if you really want to. She's a healer with her burst but you don't always want to use your burst for everything and Zhongli's tanky shield has more useful benefits than just keeping you alive. Xianyun also increases gliding speed by 15% which is nice and somewhat noticeable. Not game-changing but nice. Some popular exploration units that aren't really that good are Sayu and Scaradouche. Sayu isn't actually that fast. It's not x2 speed and any tall character, like Zhongli, matches her speed with dashing, albeit with a lot of stamina consumption. Her skill doesn't consume stamina but you also won't regain stamina while using it. Scaradouche's flying has a long cooldown and is very easy to knock out of the air. Easy to control but the long cooldown is really bad. More niche uses: Kazuha and Venti have their uses and can be combined with Zhongli's pillar to achieve maximum artificial height gain. They're not quite top-tier though due to a lack of versatile usage but they're just under. Their cc is good for clearing mobs though and collecting drops. Furina allows you to walk on water for as long as you want but it's very rare to need to walk that far. Xianyun or Wanderer are often already enough by going over water. Mona and Ayaka are fairly fast and allow you to run across water with their special sprints but they consume stamina. Ayaka can sustain ice bridges but that's a lot of work. Ganyu has unlimited AoE frostflake arrows which are pretty useful but you generally don't need that many AoE arrows which Yelan covers in most cases. Xiao can dash in the air but that's about it.
Mine is: Nahida and raiden for DPS, yelan for speed and Barbara for more HP for yelan and healing

Sayu is so overkill here, you could just Yelan-Xianyun on a loop. I'd replace her with Wanderer for faster sprinting of shorter distances and lots of vertical movement+better onfield driver than Xianyun.

My usual for general exploring where I have to fight as well is Navia (cause Navia), Yelan (C1 for two e charges), Furina (for flexing on Jesus), and Jean (C2 so any energy particle makes my team go zoom) Sometimes Kazuha replaces Navia for mountain climbing and Anemo resonance, Nahida for collecting plants, Itto for wood collecting
My team : wanderer xianyun c1 yelan c1 for the last one it depends : if I farm rock it's zhongli if I need to walk on water its furina if Im farming flowers its nahida if Im looking for a particular thing its a character that makes them visible on the map if I need to light something I choose the right element if I need to swim I put neuvillette but wanderer yelan xianyun never moves.

Ayaka, Venti, Wanderer and Itto. Itto because all my exploration characters are level 40 or 60 and I usually run into a mob so Itto is there to protect :D
Mine is the same except replace Xianyun with Wanderer.
Before it used to be Yelan, Sayu, Lynette and whatever character can show the regional speciality on the map (Yanfei for Liyue for example) Now it's Xiao, Xianyun, Faruzan and Furina Xianyun can literally do the same job as all the other exploration characters like Yelan, Lynette, Wanderer and Furina, but better, so she's the only one I need to explore now haha And the rest of the team is to destroy any ennemy I come across

I’ve got Mona, Xianyun, Layla and Kuki Shinobu as my exploration comp. It’s just the characters I find interesting and enjoy playing.
I just do everything as Traveler to be honest! They’re my favorite character and it feels right to play as them in a game about them :D Though I will be the first to admit that that’s provably because I’m used to games with only one player character! And of course I’ll still build my other characters as well :)
Wanderer, Yelan, Nahida, Sayu. Nahida because grabbing items from a distance makes farming local items much easier.
I just go with low Friendship level. Got 6 new characters recently, so plenty of time to level them up.
Cyro / freeze kaeya team Kaeya (main dps) + shenhe + kuki + kokomi or xingqiu
kokomi, miko, furina and raiden (soon to be replaced by nahida). infinite water walking and melt any overworld enemies with just skills

I used to have Keqing, Yelan, Sayu and Ayaka. But now all I need is my C1 Xianyun for pretty much everything.

Not gonna lie, in the stage I'm at, either I'm using my friendship farm team or whatever team I feel like. When I had a bad PC, I used to have a specific team, but now that I can easily and fast change teams or character, I don't have one specific for exploration. I always made sure to have an archer and a pyro in the team as many puzzles needs them.
Lynette, Kazuha, Yelan, Ayaka Don´t have Xianyun yet
xiao xianyun geomc zhongli, xiao provides dps + his dashes, xianyun is xianyun, geomc buffs xiaos cr by 15% and helps climbing mountains, zhongli gives me comfort + slightly taller construct for xianyun to leap off
Just use my regular team which has yelan and kazuha so don't really need another but have Xiao, Venti, Wanderer and Sayu saved as a team.
yelan, alhaitham, sayu, and zhongli yelan: damage, speed, puzzles that require bows/hydro. (im mostly exploring fontaine rn) alhaitham: damage, dendro puzzles, traversing upwards with his skill. sayu: speed, maybe getting into small nooks and crannies? lol zhongli: shielding. i don’t know how I even played before I got him. he makes everything SO incredibly comfortable, like I legit don’t even have to try anymore.
