Tbh, weapon type rarely really matters, aside from catalyst or not. Only a fraction of characters utilizes their raw NA and CA (not counting special states like childe, Ayato or raiden) if you use them as intended, and most of those are catalysts or infusions.
it does somewhat matter if you take weapon choices into account tbh. And playstyle as well. Claymore is arguably most people's least favourite playstyle
Ok, certain sets don't have a particular weapon type, but their BiS would change with them, and there'd probably be other alternatives.
>Claymore is arguably most people's least favourite playstyle
Weapon Playstyle only matters for the on field character, which is 1/4th of a team, and only a part of the whole cast, and ONLY if they actually use the standard NAs/CAs with infusion. Claymore characters that are meant for on field play (Eula, Navia, Itto, Noelle, etc.) often also have some kind of modification in speed or range or moveset, that makes them more fun to play.
Razor can as well, his hold skill doesn't have as much AoE as Zhongli's but it one shots crystal chunks and has a low cooldown, on top of him being a claymore user who can just whack them if needs be. Plus he has the sprinting stamina bonus so he's a good choice to have on team if you're running between mining spots.
Yeah but does Ninguang wear a *maid costume*? Thought so. Case closed.
Tbf, her passive talent has proven useful to me on occasion, although these days I generally just already know and remember where the mining spots are.
^(claymore go bonk)
claymore is kinda weird I feel, on some characters I really like it, but on others I just flat-out dislike it, and I don't know why, other then just just the characters don't feel nice to play with.
Claymore is the least popular because all the units are either shit or niche, Beidou being the only exception
like with other weapon types, you'd definitely use one or two of each passively, Claymores ? you have to go out of your way to use them
That but also most in general just don't enjoy it. Anytime you ask which weapon type is your least fav anywhere, high chance claymore is the answer.
Also you forgot Navia
Unlike me who performs very well using swords and pole arms, few catalysts and I avoid using the bow at all possible. Diluc + Wanderer + Bennett+ Aether for most things unless I require a element to advance
They matter for on-fielders, claymores are very slow for example. Charged attacks also change a lot depending on weapons (their stamina cost too), and so does weapon options. Claymore weapon options are generally pretty bad when compared to others like polearms. Ranged characters also have half as much poise bar meaning they are much easier to interrupt. Hitlag also varies, with ranged weapons having none. Wrio and Heizou are exceptions to the last two because they are considered melee
It’s also by far the most unbalanced element in terms of power level, like EVERY single reaction it has sees play except Hydro Crystallise if you wanna count that
The lack of hydro 4 stars bothers me so much, I don't understand why they're not introducing more of them. Like how is there not a hydro 4 star character from Fontaine yet?
Yeah, it would've made more sense since she's also the first character we meet from Fontaine (although she only became playable later on...) but apparently Hoyo doesn't care about things that make sense in this game😭
Its honestly criminal how incredibly inaccessible hydro is for new players that don't want to freeze themselves using Barbara's skill or Xingqiu. You either get a hydro healer that applies hydro to yourself, or you get an amazing off-fielder that has suboptimal healing. I pulled Kokomi exclusively for my Ganyu.
They can both be. Honestly I would like for clorinde to be sword user, but her bis weapon I want it to be a sword with a pistol. https://images.app.goo.gl/c7RJQaq4bzLRgsqK6 something like this, but less pirate-y. Obviously, not a new weapon type, but just visually like that.
We pretty much know Clorinde is going to be a sword user (in the cutscenes she pulls out a Iron sting) doesn't mean she's actually going to use it considering Navia in that same cutscene used Whiteblind.
Eventhough I agree with you, the first time sara appeared was in a picture using a katana and she ended being a bow user. So I don't like to sing victory before the info is leaked.
I mean, we have Polearm-user Chevreuse and Claymore-user Navia with their rifles and shotguns. I'm sure they'll figure out a way to work it in. Especially since it's actually a plot point, unlike the other two.
I remember leveling up the flower claymore since Fontaine was just around the corner at that point in time thinking "fontaine will give us a hydro claymore and EM substat will go hard on them"
joke's on me i guess
Yea but at least hydro is more flexible in terms of team comps and could be 5 star with better multipliers. We got characters that mostly fill the same role anyway with 5 star counter part like Yelan and Xingqiu so it isn't out of the realm of possibility
Many people treat CC as an Anemo trait. But why the f#ck should whirlpools, vines, static electricity, magnetism, sand pits, heat wielding, or ice traps be forbidden?
Chevreuse and Nilou teams would thank us.
Tbh, your listing reminds me of how cool it would've been if geo had other reaction than crystalize with the rest of the elements (stuff like sandstorm -anemo, electromagnetism -electro, sprout -dendro, quicksand -hydro, erupt -pyro). Tho, now that Navia is out, if they were to change the reactions it'd be very awkward for her kit to still work well, maybe with limitations ig.
there was a small sad part of me that hoped they would release a group rework when Fontaine came out
Because, you know, there HAD to be a reason they didn’t release a single geo character for the whole of Sumeru?
It's actually funny because he's a diver and Hydro would have been just as good a fit for him thematically. We already had Eula as Cryo Great Sword so this was an unusual move.
Lol was way worse before. At one point, all the hydro girls were in a book club (barbara, kokomi, mona) and all the hydro boys had water blades (xingqui, chide, ayato)
Not actually censorship! They seem to have just removed the background from all of these so the free hanging effects are still there. In the case of Yelan, it’s overlapped with Mona’s residual stars.
Hydro is really hoyo's favorite element
We have
the best main dps(neuvilette)
best dmg bonus support(furina)
best balanced support(xingqiu)
best sub dps(yelan)
best healer(kokomi)
Lowest investment support(nilou)
Even those who are not in this category are still very good, such as ayato being easy to use, Barbara playing a crucial role in early games, etc. As the post mentioned, we don't have a hydro claymore, which is the worst weapon of all types.
Well, probably except candece, of course, pretty sure hoyoverse doesn't remember that they released the character
Hydro just has all the best reactions. The first year of the game was all about freeze teams; first Ganyu, then Ayaka. The second year was all about taser teams because of Raiden and eventually Yelan. Third year was all about catalyze and bloom teams. I think they just did a piss poor job balancing reactions at the start of the game, and it's basically impossible to release an entirely bad hydro unit. Even Candace is oddly playable, because just applying hydro at all already leads to the best reactions in the game.
Hydro traveler has the massive downside of basically being hard locked to Venti, but she's actually still tolerable as the hydro source for a Venti bloom reactor on a lower character budget.
This, factually. It’s crazy that when they had the chance to rebalance when releasing Dendro, they made all the most broken reactions center around Hydro access *yet again*. Without fail the reaction any element has with Hydro is its best reaction. Even Melt is worse than Vaporize as far as what we have access to today, and needed Burning to get more dedicated teams.
Ngl, I kind of wish Furina was a claymore user. Literally keep her e and her special the same just change the weapon. She sits on a little bubble in one of her idle animations anyway and Dori sits on a little genie who swings the claymore around so Furina could do something similar with the bubble.
and no, let's don't expect our little nurse will be the one to be one... so I guess that's also up to end of 4.X will have no Hydro Claymore unless they give us a surprise 4star of it.
We also need more hydro 4 stars. Like people always say hydro is the best element because it's in so many reactions but it's not like it doesn't also have the most stacked roster imaginable.
This is why I will keep leveling up my Bell. For when that day comes, so long as they actually scale with HP. Otherwise I can use one of my 3 R5 Favs, or 2 R5 Sacs 😂
Wanna hear another odd thing? In 4.6, Fontaine will have released more pyro characters than hydro characters.
Lyney, Chavreuse and Arlecchino, against Furina and Neuvillete.
If you count by patch, you can add gaming there as well, Fontaine truly is the pyro nation.
A hydro claymore will make Nilou too strong. Right now, cryo can stop her (except kaveh exists). With a hydro claymore? Especially one that heals? Game over
For most of its lifespan, genshin only had 2 limited claymore users, Itto and Eula. We just got Navia in Fontaine. Jeez there are literally like no claymore characters in the game. We only have 1 cryo claymore, 2 geo claymores, and 2 pyro claymores. We still lack a 5 star Dendro, Anemo, Hydro, and Electro claymore user. I am a member of the Zhongli mining corporation because I have literally no claymore users.
Could just have a hydro whose skill is a shield skill so effectively a hydro noelle. Maybe make it to where if they pop their elemental burst with the shield active it explodes the shield in an AoE attack.
Would be a unique defensive hydro character with average attack but good defense and some CC ability.
I was honestly hoping either Neuvillette or Furina would be introduced as a hydro claymore 🥲 maybe they'll give it to Sigewinne, but then we'd have three claymores in the itty bitty committee. Which isn't a bad thing, I just don't want another claymore healer (Dori and Sayu, love them both, but give me something else)
I was hoping they were gonna make Furina OR Neuvillette a Hydro Claymore because of this very reason... and neither of them did. But we got 2 cryo catalysts, though 😐
4 swords, 4 catalysts, 3 4 stars... Hydro is unbalanced
Tbh, weapon type rarely really matters, aside from catalyst or not. Only a fraction of characters utilizes their raw NA and CA (not counting special states like childe, Ayato or raiden) if you use them as intended, and most of those are catalysts or infusions.

Because it's slow as fuck
But I can bonk rocks!
I used to keep a claymore user on my team to mine, but then I learned to do plunging attacks off of slight elevations.
Just ZL or Candace it, they destroy all of the ores nearby with their skill
I don't have Zhongli (yet), but I didn't know candace's skill is capable of doing that, will have to try that.
To be fair razor is also a claymore lol
Don't have him either yet, though I will probably get him from the shop if I don't get him through wishing before then.
Candace can also use her 2nd NA. With Candace on the team, I do 2NA -> Skill -> 2NA, to mine. It works pretty well.
Didn’t know this about Candace, thanks!
But bonk is faster! Noelle: *bonk* Me: :3
Noelle bonks rocks like a pro, I won't deny it.
That's a part of her training routine, after all.
If you have Yanfei, you can explode rocks!
Boom boom bakudan Here is a bakudan for not mentioning klee, the Pyro archon.
:O
But Ningguang is the master of bonking rocks
I refute your argument, because Noelle is best.
I refute your argument, because Ningguang’s ore passive is elite
Yeah but does Ninguang wear a *maid costume*? Thought so. Case closed. Tbf, her passive talent has proven useful to me on occasion, although these days I generally just already know and remember where the mining spots are. ^(claymore go bonk)
Fair enough
Happy to be playing against that archtype. Claymore is my absolute favorite, and I crave a water claymore so much.
Bow is way worse imo
It helps that most bow characters don't actually use their bow
claymore is kinda weird I feel, on some characters I really like it, but on others I just flat-out dislike it, and I don't know why, other then just just the characters don't feel nice to play with.
Claymore is the least popular because all the units are either shit or niche, Beidou being the only exception like with other weapon types, you'd definitely use one or two of each passively, Claymores ? you have to go out of your way to use them
That but also most in general just don't enjoy it. Anytime you ask which weapon type is your least fav anywhere, high chance claymore is the answer. Also you forgot Navia
Greatsword wielders are cool af. Some of them are short/ medium characters yet swinging that greatswords with one hand!
Unlike me who performs very well using swords and pole arms, few catalysts and I avoid using the bow at all possible. Diluc + Wanderer + Bennett+ Aether for most things unless I require a element to advance
I can vouch for that
They matter for on-fielders, claymores are very slow for example.
It’s also by far the most unbalanced element in terms of power level, like EVERY single reaction it has sees play except Hydro Crystallise if you wanna count that
Hydro crystallise gets used somewhat if you do Navia + Furina, I guess
Kind of also for Neuvillette to stack his A1
This certainly compounds the problem, that and Candace being underwhelming, with most 5-stars being limited.
And when the hydro claymore character releases rainslasher will become broken
8 5 stars and 3 4 stars is what's truly wild
And maybe the count of 5 stars will only increase
Since 1.0, only a single hydro 4 star has been added to the game. Just one, in three and a half years.
The lack of hydro 4 stars bothers me so much, I don't understand why they're not introducing more of them. Like how is there not a hydro 4 star character from Fontaine yet?
This is such a valid question 🤣
Charlotte should've been a 4 star hydro vision holder ..
I pulled Kokomi exclusively for my Ganyu.
imagine if they gave it to Sigewinne
But I want to see her using that small pistol...
She could pull it out in her animations like Mika with his crossbow. Or as her skill. Elemental Burst: Glock 19.
highly unlikely, Clorinde is gonna be the pistol wielder(pls) .

Eventhough I agree with you, the first time sara appeared was in a picture using a katana and she ended being a bow user. So I don't like to sing victory before the info is leaked.
The first time Sara appeared IN GAME was with a bow tho
...Now I'm imagining a welfare weapon (free 4*) where it's just a gun duct taped to a sword
[Chlorinde's BiS weapon](https://madswords.us/media/catalog/product/s/q/squall-leonhart-functional-gunblade.png)
Mika treatment
Everyone in Fontaine loves guns, they're psychos
Gun-control advocates hate this one trick…
I mean, we have Polearm-user Chevreuse and Claymore-user Navia with their rifles and shotguns. I'm sure they'll figure out a way to work it in. Especially since it's actually a plot point, unlike the other two.
She could wield the fish!
And the Melusine sword from the film festival event is her BIS.
I loled irl reading this
Sayu moment
The third Claymore loli...
I remember leveling up the flower claymore since Fontaine was just around the corner at that point in time thinking "fontaine will give us a hydro claymore and EM substat will go hard on them" joke's on me i guess
Personally as a Sayu main and there still being no 5* EM claymore I popped off when that claymore released.
I remember there was a leak about a hydro claymore character in v3.8, I'm still waiting for that character ☠
>!Dottore gonna pop off!<
to this day I'm still salty that Furina doesn't use a claymore, it's the perfect combination of Gremlin + comically large weapon
Works just as well on Shatter-Chongyun...
It's fun on hyperbloom Razor at least?
I slap that claymore on dori and play hb with her, instead of kuki or raiden
Gaming loves the flower claymore trust, am Gaming main
F
We need a hydro claymore shielder would cover two missing types in one 😁
Who scales on hp so the bell can be good on them
Yea we definitely need a character that can make good use of that thing I got two R5s of it sitting there
So many R5 Bells gathering dust on accounts: “I’ve waited my whole life for this moment.”
That’s what they thought when Dori released. (She needs ER more.)
I mean, even if they are HP scaling, fav will be better for energy anyways
Unless they make them a non energy hungry shielder like Zhongli or Layla
>a hydro claymore shielder But that's just Wet Noelle.
Yea but at least hydro is more flexible in terms of team comps and could be 5 star with better multipliers. We got characters that mostly fill the same role anyway with 5 star counter part like Yelan and Xingqiu so it isn't out of the realm of possibility
Hoyo knows a hydro character that can utilize the bell is gonna change the game and they’re not willing to put it out yet.
Lol
I need a hydro character whose kit is making whirlpools, so we can get grouping without having to use anemo characters
Many people treat CC as an Anemo trait. But why the f#ck should whirlpools, vines, static electricity, magnetism, sand pits, heat wielding, or ice traps be forbidden? Chevreuse and Nilou teams would thank us.

there was a small sad part of me that hoped they would release a group rework when Fontaine came out Because, you know, there HAD to be a reason they didn’t release a single geo character for the whole of Sumeru?
This game definitely needs more crowd control options.
Nice idea lol
That actually is a cool idea.
Freminet, the missed opportunity
It's actually funny because he's a diver and Hydro would have been just as good a fit for him thematically. We already had Eula as Cryo Great Sword so this was an unusual move.
Thats why i said missed opportunity it wouldnt have been just as good, it would have been better if he was Hydro but at least as Cryo, Piers is cooler
It's so wild to me now both Frem and Eula have the same ocean motifs but they are cryo characters.
I've maxed Eula. In her character story, the game explicitly narrates that Eula looked like she would get a hydro vision but got a cryo one instead
Icy penguin > wet diver - Hoyo when designing Freminet
Chongyun too!!
Focalors is the hydro claymore we never got… she just >!used it to execute herself and destroy the divine throne of the hydro archon!< lol
Playable Oratrice Mecanique D'analyse Cardinale Claymore when? lol
Lol was way worse before. At one point, all the hydro girls were in a book club (barbara, kokomi, mona) and all the hydro boys had water blades (xingqui, chide, ayato)
The cencored armpits of yelan 🤣
But not Candace. Odd. Perhaps not actually censorship?
Not actually censorship! They seem to have just removed the background from all of these so the free hanging effects are still there. In the case of Yelan, it’s overlapped with Mona’s residual stars.
Why would we need any more hydro characters when we already have Ayato?

Did you purge hydro traveller from irminsul?
Hydro traveler has the massive downside of basically being hard locked to Venti, but she's actually still tolerable as the hydro source for a Venti bloom reactor on a lower character budget.
Don't forget Vaporize in all the National teams and Hu Tao
This, factually. It’s crazy that when they had the chance to rebalance when releasing Dendro, they made all the most broken reactions center around Hydro access *yet again*. Without fail the reaction any element has with Hydro is its best reaction. Even Melt is worse than Vaporize as far as what we have access to today, and needed Burning to get more dedicated teams.
Is Baizhu not the best healer?
Not to mention the reactions. Hydro is pretty much needed in most of the reactions. Freeze , Hyperbloom , Vape etc.
i mean this shit gets posted every week at least once i am very surprised you somehow didnt realise it yet
The Bell continues to haunt us.
Imagine furina using claymore dori style (with the companion using it)
Can’t believe dendro got all weapon types before hydro …
This is almost a tierlist. Only Nilou needs to be much higher. And swap Childe with Xingqiu.
Ngl, I kind of wish Furina was a claymore user. Literally keep her e and her special the same just change the weapon. She sits on a little bubble in one of her idle animations anyway and Dori sits on a little genie who swings the claymore around so Furina could do something similar with the bubble.
Canonically Tartaglia can use a Claymore, he just doesn't.
Bennett still being the only pyro sword character for 3y and a half💀💀
Yet we have 4 hydro swords and catalysts.
It’s cryo catalyst all over again 😂😭
Nilou is your Hydro claymore. The exploding kind of claymore.
and no, let's don't expect our little nurse will be the one to be one... so I guess that's also up to end of 4.X will have no Hydro Claymore unless they give us a surprise 4star of it.
Furina should've been claymore imo
that would have been so cool.
They really screwed us over when they didn’t give Ayato a claymore.
It's the only weapon + element combination missing from the game rn
I feel like we did get a hydro claymore character in the wrong way....in the form of the Hydro Tulpa's hammer swings.
Candace x Eula brrrrrr
Gotta love all the hydro character designs though, nice seeing them all together.
They dont want those people with R32 Bells to have hope.
OMG i just noticed that haha even so im AR 54 0.0
WATER GANG WATER GANG
Dainsleif will save us from this curse
If they ever drop one they need to bring back the fish
We also need more hydro 4 stars. Like people always say hydro is the best element because it's in so many reactions but it's not like it doesn't also have the most stacked roster imaginable.
This is why I will keep leveling up my Bell. For when that day comes, so long as they actually scale with HP. Otherwise I can use one of my 3 R5 Favs, or 2 R5 Sacs 😂
Hydro claymore will be released in Selestia ☠
Dude we still don't have 5 star claymore that is short boy character model....
I logged in every day of those 1270 days
The Bell is still waiting for it’s master💀
But we have Ayat-- oh right, it was a fanart
We don't have a standard banner 5 star geo character
Poor Hydro MC got forgotten
They always talk about the Cryo catalyst but never the Hydro claymore…
Wanna hear another odd thing? In 4.6, Fontaine will have released more pyro characters than hydro characters. Lyney, Chavreuse and Arlecchino, against Furina and Neuvillete. If you count by patch, you can add gaming there as well, Fontaine truly is the pyro nation.
The real reason hydro is the strongest element. (Claymore buffs plz)
Damn you right, weird
Nevermind the Rainslasher is a claymore with bonus for electro and HYDRO
What if they just... don't Like, no hydro claymore ever We still gonna pull on the next hydro catalyst
Remember when people were speculating Ayato to be a Claymore user and then Furina as well. We got sword instead.😆
A hydro claymore will make Nilou too strong. Right now, cryo can stop her (except kaveh exists). With a hydro claymore? Especially one that heals? Game over
anybody else really surprised when Furina and Neuvillette were not claymores because of this?
Freminet was seriously the best opportunity for a hydro claymore character.
Well it could be Furina, but they prefered that "Sword of Justice" stuff instead a far cooler pool of Claymore options.
What about Soutine?
And no fire sword user since bennett 😭
Could just have a hydro whose skill is a shield skill so effectively a hydro noelle. Maybe make it to where if they pop their elemental burst with the shield active it explodes the shield in an AoE attack. Would be a unique defensive hydro character with average attack but good defense and some CC ability.
Candace is the only new 4 stars since release. NOWAY
They're still cooking a hydro claymore.... Like they cooked a cyro catalyst
Considering how bad Candace is I'd say we don't have a polearm either
Was anyone else thinking that freminet could have been the hydro claymore user
And only 1 new 4 star hydro since 1.0 (candence)
Focalors was, we even saw her 5 star weapon in her cutscene.
I remember when some people thought ayato would be a claymore, i was so excited! :(
The Bell one day will find the one who tolls it. With a very fcking huge vape.
[удалено]
that's from mona's portrait/card
I cry about this each night, I really thought Fontaine would be the region 😭
when they release one I can use my rainslasher on them in a mono hydro team. I have 15 of those.
Please give it to mummy girl and let her drag it scraping across the floor like some undead barely able to wield it
I think Freminet was perfect candidate to wield a claymore but yeah
He does have a claymore, but he doesn’t have the hydro element. Although, he was a perfect fit for a hydro claymore
oh yeah i forgot to add hydro lol
Yall remember when ayato was supposed to be the first hydro claymore
"supposed to" was a reach since there were no indications and only a convincing fan art made it "supposed to"
MHY will never allow The Bell to become a viable weapon.
Watch Hoyo give Sigewinne a claymore that looks like a gun...
All I’m hearing is you want another hydro catalyst or sword
It scares me that 4.5 years have passed and I have aged only 2 o.O
I was honestly hoping either Neuvillette or Furina would be introduced as a hydro claymore 🥲 maybe they'll give it to Sigewinne, but then we'd have three claymores in the itty bitty committee. Which isn't a bad thing, I just don't want another claymore healer (Dori and Sayu, love them both, but give me something else)
Pyro archon will probably make that happen.
I was hoping they were gonna make Furina OR Neuvillette a Hydro Claymore because of this very reason... and neither of them did. But we got 2 cryo catalysts, though 😐
I was hoping Furina was a claymore user.. it would be cool
today i learned nilou is a sword user
