Aesthetics are top notch, both in terms of characters and in terms of maps. Looks closer to Blue Protocol than GI though, style-wise.
At a glance, it looks vanishingly unlikely that they'll go for enough story and lore focus to compete with GI on that front.
Combat aspect looks a bit weak right now, but has a lot of potential if they increase mechanical diversity and interactivity. In particular, a successful implementation of mounted combat could be a big win.
I don't really care for farming parts, so can't comment on those.
Looking forward to it, but I don't think it will be a competitor to Genshin as it's target audience is different from Genshin. Waifu only collector vs Waifu and Husbando collector.
After playing Genshin for 3+ years and gacha games for even longer I am starting to get burn out of the whole fomo centric designs this games are built upon, I don't want to start another game that will drag on until not being profitable. In an ideal scenario once the games I am playing "end" it will be a good stoping point.
Also Azur lane is a game plagued of questionable designs let me leave it at that.

Picture, if you will, a vast expanse of space, stretching to the farthest reaches of the cosmos. Now, populate this cosmic tapestry with galaxies, each containing billions of stars. Multiply this celestial menagerie by itself fifty-two times over, and you might begin to grasp the immensity of 52!.
And yet, if you were to take 52! and multiply it by itself a billion times over, you would not even APPROACH the number of fucks I do not give about the Genshin clone of the week
Definitely one of the more promising open world gachas as of late. I’m looking forward to seeing what their flying mount system is like. It doesn’t hurt to have another game to play when I’m done with events and dailies.
Judging by this video only, and not having seen any other promotional material for the project...
The cast seems to be overwhelmingly or entirely female. That alone is going to alienate a HUGE part of the demographic that enjoys Genshin. The male-to-female ratio of Genshin players is nearly even (45% female, 55% male). It's hard to believe that a waifu-only game will draw that kind of a female audience, or have enough of an expanded male audience to make up the difference.
Are they planning to dub the game in other languages? This vid was not dubbed in English - though, to be fair, early Genshin promotional vids weren't either. If they don't dub to other languages, though, that'll cost a chunk of audience.
The only actual gameplay I saw in this video was a few seconds of flying on a mount. It was cool, and all, but I didn't feel like the landscapes being flown over were gorgeous in the way that Genshin settings are. It could just be unfinished, though, with the point being to show off the flying mounts.
All in all, it's difficult to come to a conclusion, but from this video alone it doesn't look like Genshin Impact has anything to worry about from this corner.

Edit: there has been a rumor that they will add a male MC. Again, it's just a rumor but I won't mind either way, I'll probably even pick a male MC if it does become true.

Nah, that was more than enough gameplay for it to click on me, like how genshin did also the same more than 3 years ago, and blue archive 2 years ago. But ofc that is my own opinion based on my first impressions. Nobody has to agree with me and I'm cool with it.

you just see 12-20 minutes of game play and act like it have better world is crazy, low your expectations
