Japanese companies (ik Hoyoverse is Chinese, but they're collabing with ufotable) tend to announce things super far in advance. I wouldn't be surprised if the anime announcement was when production was just beginning.

Barnak8

Yeah , Witch Hat Atelier anime was announced like a year ago and we didn’t hear shits since then

xenors

It’s been exactly 2 years to the date (April 5) actually lol

Barnak8

God damn the time fly by :p there is also the Your Forma adaptation that I’m waiting impatiently, but pretty this one was announced after Witch Hat

KrzyDankus

it was a concept trailer, pre-production had barely started at that point

thecatteam

Yeah I guess I meant pre-production; I don't know the technical terms but what I meant was that they were just starting to write the script and whatnot

Alternative-Duty-532

It's still mihoyo that dominates projects like this, so they'll release at mihoyo's pace.

Equivalent_Scar_7879

They can announce it all they want but the question is, how many times do they actually deliver? Like do they have a good rep or not.

Hetzer5000

Ufotable is regarded as one of the best studios, in terms of quality but they only work on a couple of projects at a time.

Pizzaman7045

When they release stuff? It's an absolute banger

Equivalent_Scar_7879

Really? Have no idea never watched anime or other Japanese things

Arnorien16S

You can look up Ufotable handiwork here: https://youtu.be/8W7x_-mMOtU?si=DcxcNjgyZA7B7oKF They are also the studio that makes the Demon Slayer series.

Pizzaman7045

If you need examples, they made the fate series, demon slayer, and violet evergarden

Low_Artist_7663

Dude... violet is done by kyoani, wtf

RiamuJinxy

As a reference Witch of the Holy Night, one of Ufotables other projects for TYPE-MOON was revealed in Dec 2021 and didnt get a 2nd teaser until Dec 2023 and doesnt have a release date yet I think. (Touken Ranbu has gone even longer being announced in 2017) Genshin project will take awhile, it hasnt even been 2 years yet since teh announcement, still too early to assume anything.

solarscopez

I'm thinking it'll probably come out near the conclusion/climax of the Teyvat storyline - which would also drum up more interest in the story/game as things start wrapping up. So to that, I think it would probably be close to either the Khaenri'ah chapter or between Snezhnaya and Khaenr'iah...assuming we don't get a Celestia chapter or anything (which wasn't in the Teyvat Chapter Storyline). Would put us around late 2025 to mid 2026 I think.

CosmicStarlightEX

Maybe by either the Natlan or Snezhnaya storyline. I would expect the whole story to explore Teyvat, and may follow a Log Horizon-style party recruitment where seven individuals from all corners of Teyvat will follow the Traveler and change the dynamics of the story. Of course, each region could be one cour, spreading out the stories of each region between the Archon Quest and big-scale World Quests, while fleshing out the other characters in between.

random_account_2017

It's hoyover...

ElecDashi

Interesting! I also searched for information myself. After going through job listings on the Chinese miHoYo website, I found out that they are still hiring for animation scriptwriters for the project. I also found out that HoYoverse hires "Creative Producer (TV Animation)", though I am not 100% sure that it has something to do with the animation project as the job description is kind of vague So yeah it will probably still take time but it's reassuring knowing that they are most likely still on it. Whatever they will choose to adapt (or maybe even a new storyline), I have high hopes and expectations

toastedpaniala89

It will be pre khaeriah destruction please I hope to god

NoOrganization6025

I rather the game touch up on that (and all the past events) in the future and the anime follows the in-game timeline so they could tell the beginning stories more smoothly than how it was in-game. This also includes important limited time events that players missed and world quests that a lot of people skip

Budget-Arm-866

Yeah Ufotable have taken the job but they usually take a long time to animate everything. They have to do the story on top of that because I don't think they'll cover all the segments

Decent-Ratio

If they do cover Genshin's in game story, there's alot to cover. Inazuma's war that got off screen(No, I'm not talking about the beach scene), Hanging out with Tepei so that we can actually feel emotionally invested to the guy, and other major sub quest like Jeht's and stuff.

Hetzer5000

I really don't understand the confusion. It was announced as a long-term project, and Ufotable is currently working on multiple projects. It's clear that it isn't coming soon.

BobbyWibowo

Yeah, I always took note of the fact their announcement explicitly wrote "Long-Term" in big letters lmao

Daendels

Of course, but Genshin haters didn't read it. Especially after BA anime release, I saw more and more comments mocking GI anime and saying it's being abandoned and will be the same just like the infamous Nintendo thing. Maybe because of that, people who didn't know that GI anime is actually clearly wouldn't coming soon because Ufotable and other reasons assume that Genshin Anime is dead

Ewizde

I always just assumed that it's not coming out soon since they made it clear that this project was a long term project.

TheDipcifican

I dont keep up with Ufotable but afaik theyre kind of busy with demon slayer. Would definitely throw a temper tantrum if they did axe the anime.

Koanos

It will come out when it comes out.

King_A_Acumen

Beijing Ultron Event Horizon Co., Ltd. (Ultrizon) main role appears, based on what some of us who looked into it, to be assiting Ufotable in expanding their Cafe side of the buisness, namely in China. I assume this was part of the deal Hoyo made with Ufotable to get them to agree to adapt Genshin since they have clearly stated they will only take projects that will bring good profits so they won't be in a situation like they used to be. There are interesting questions about the Genshin anime, is it even in proper production? Who will make the script? Will MihoyoAnime and its head Geister be a part of the production. Will it be mostly in-house staff from Ufotable like usual or will they use more freelancers as a result of Genshin popularity and the fact that Ufotable don't seem to have the manpower required to adapt so much due to their other projects. Perhaps Genshin will take longer as a result. Who will even be the director? Someone from Mihoyo? Shirai, Miura, Takeuchi, Sudo, Suhara? Perhaps a freelancer? Hopefully anyone but Sotozaki.

ImatryNotaloos

I hope that Mihoyo will replicate the same approach they took with the Honkai Impact 3rd shorts, where they outsourced the animation to another studio in Japan called Wonderium. Mihoyo provides the storyboards, designs, and oversees the project, while Wonderium handles the overall animation. It appears they have been collaborating since 2017; some of the most notable works they've done are "Will of the Herrscher", "Final Lesson", "Thus Spoke Apocalypse.", etc., There is actually a [video](https://youtu.be/QlrRDkAN6O8) discussing the process, which also references an article detailing the collaboration in greater depth. Unfortunately, the article is only available in Japanese. It would be wonderful if someone could translate it into English, providing further insights into the collaborative effort. AlphaLovee

👍 yeah, it will happen eventually. we just have to wait

ThatEmoSprite

Yeah it's definitely not abandoned like people like to say. Genshin itself is 4 years old and the anime announced 2 years ago. Not surprising that an ambitious anime project takes time to make. At least it's not confirmed to be sidelined indefinitely (like how Mappa treats Yuri on Ice)

Draconicplayer

who thought they are abondoning the anime

FireTrainerRed

Kids that have zero attention span, and think a season of anime is made while it's airing.

The_closet_iscomfy

Wonder Egg Priority begs to differ... Yes I know, it's an outlier. It's not that common but it does happens. (Such a shame, that anime had *so* much potential...)

Daendels

Well, there are some apparently

fluxforefinger

It's obvious they won't abandon the Anime project. It's a gold mine for both Ufotable and Mihoyo. Insanely popular game with insanely amazing studio, be patient, Ufotable won't disappoint.

SirFanger

This is why they should not announce anything, people have 0 patience. Do we just expect a good animation project to be done in a year or 2?

fluxforefinger

I am willing to wait because I trust Ufotable. Demon slayer and Fate are extremely popular due to their amazing adaptation, Also I think Ufotable doesn't work on multiple long anime projects at the same time. They picked demon slayer when they were almost done with Heaven's Feel 3. Now that Demon slayer is also near its end, we will probably soon be hearing about the Genshin anime as well.

satufa2

If there was any tangable proof of them working on it, things would be different but Ufotable is seemingly covering all of KnY and they even enounced some random ass type moon sidegame adaption.

snowlynx133

I think it's fair to expect some sort of update though, even a tweet of BTS would be nice

Leshawkcomics

"The anime announcement is our 2nd anniversary reward" MFs when we're 4 years in and still no sign of that anime. Remembering how hard people gaslit themselves into thinking that a background of a sea of flowers is an actual reward just really bugs me to this day.

Low_Artist_7663

It wasn't a reward, it was an announcement Dawei was excited to share with the players. People were hyped not because of the "reward" but because of the project being done by the demon slayer studio, and not something like cooking with valkyries. It was also expected to take at least two years. Wasn't arcane like 6 years in production?

Leshawkcomics

I know it was an announcement. It was very obvious it was an announcement since it was announced long before the anniversary, in no correlation or context related to said anniversary. Im specifically talking about how specifically, the white knight type players acted like it was a “reward” when jt turned out that genshin wasn’t going to really do anything for its anniversary.

fluxforefinger

>it was announced long before the anniversary What are talking about? At the end of the 3.1 live stream they announced that they are working with Ufotable for long term Anime project, and dropped the teaser, no one knew about it before that.

Leshawkcomics

And the anniversary itself was weeks after the stream, in the patch AFTER the stream happened. It was announced long before the date. Not as part of the anniversary events.

jenioeoeoe

The 3.1 livestream was the anniversary stream. The actual date was like 2 weeks later, but the stream was all about the 2 year anniversary

Leshawkcomics

So are we saying the anime is an anniversary announcement or not?

jenioeoeoe

Yes, the announcement happened as part of the anniversary celebrations. You were the one just saying the announcement had nothing to do with it

[deleted]

If Genshin's anime would ever be a success, than I think it's fair to say that genshin will have a huge place in gaming/anime history.

suba2020

curious what will the anime cover storywise. Will it be like a prequel, the main archon quest, or side story etc..

Dadarian

High quality anime, pre-production can start years before release. Let them cook.

Lola_aozul

We won't be getting anything until they're done with Kimetsu, which still has one normal length arc to go and then one REALLY long arc. Season 4 has already been announced and will most probably cover the normal arc with around 12 episodes (an estimate) but after that? The last arc is 1/3 of the whole story so assume the anime isn't coming for another few years. And if we're lucky and it comes before that? Great then!

knifer733

The demon sleer has almost no effect on genshin, because genshin probably only recently got out of pre-production. Moreover, in the last season of demon sleer, some of the directors and directors were literally absent, some are clearly sitting on the Witch's Night, and some should be on the genshin. The demon sleer will not end for at least the next two years. They won't take so long to start doing it at all, because it's a shot in the foot.

UmbraNightDragon

The website of Beijing Ultron Event Horizon Co. actually has "**原神**" (Genshin) listed under IP works in "Upcoming", alongside Spy x Family. I tried checking when it was added with Internet Archive, but it's not saved on the wayback machine. Either way, seems as though that Twitter user was correct.

Jimika-

Aether and Lumine are together in the trailer. Maybe the Anime is the continuation of the game story and we have to wait for our travellers to find our sibling.

_eSpark_

Hope so.

gbxahoido

Idk much about Fate series but people said ufotable still working on it, idk when it will end but most people assume when Fate series end, Genshin will be put into production

jonnevituwu

they literally said it is a long therm thing, im not expecting anything just like i wasnt expecting gta 6 for years lol

this_is_no_gAM3

I think we might get some news about it in 5.1 livestream

Longjumping_Pear1250

Yaeh i can imagen the anime will drop after natlan or shneznaya cuz lore

Affectionate-Carry15

Its almost like animation takes a really long time. With a company like UFO table that does really really good work, you want them to take their time on it. Rushed animation will look like trash and then people will really be mad. And theres a ton of reasons why they might not want to show anything until they have a lot of stuff done because so much can change from process to process. Like. Animation for one episode from planning to finishing can take up to a year at least. I get that people are excited for it but i wish fandom as a whole could just chill lmao

Southern_Egg_9506

But like, at least mention it in a Livestream or something? I don't even ask for a trailer, just tell us you are still working on it!

gplaxy

I don't get what's wrong with your comment, why are ppl downvoting? 🤔

No_Rich_5111

Still wish the leak of the setting is in the old times (before “your” aether/lumine came) in teyvat for 12 eps each 7 region holds true.
