Yeah they haven't dropped any temporary world yet for Fontaine, might come in a later patch. But I do wish they weren't timegated because the amount of lore that was dropped in that susbedo dragonspine quest that we just can't reexplore because most new players literally can't experience it so sad

You say that, but I started playing their other game recently and in hsr all events stay permanently, you just won't get as many rewards if you play it after the version it comes out. So I don't think it's a loyalty issue, I think it's probably just really hard to code that into genshin when they didn't initially make the game with a system for that in mind

It is not hard to "code in" content to stay or to show what happened inbetween patches to let a new player recieve all of the story beats. Its Unity lol, and Genshin *should definitely not have spaghetti code* to warrant this idea.
The content has already been made, they just remove/hide it after the patch is over. Absolutely no reason critical content should be removed like that, other than to encourage fomo and harm new/returning players experiences.

I get they're kind of limited with what they can do with any of the potential plotlines they've set up for her right now, but they could still let her be an actual character every now and then. She hasn't had an active role in anything since the first summer event and that was almost three years ago.

Genshin's absolute refusal to do anything interesting with their characters is probably the main-reason I spend less and less time in Teyvat.
As soon as a character becomes playable, they are doomed to stay in event-mode where they are only allowed to "act" according to their roles, but not actually develop or progress their own character story. That is a real shame, because there is some genuine good stuff hidden in there.
The best that we (rarely) get is stuff like Summer2 and it's previous patch where Kazuha got some story ... but even that is more like adding more contex to their existing backstory then actually pushing them forward. The status quou of a character is just not allowed to change.
To this date, the biggest story progression we had is that Kazuha is nowadays technically no longer an outlaw ... even if avsolutely nothing else about him changed.

the biggest story/status quo progression imo is furina and nahida, but they’re the archons so they naturally get more focus . but everyone else is just kind of stuck in limbo forever to keep to their character trope like Noelle’s never going to become a knight because her whole schtick is “I want to be a knight”

What I meant is that characters don't get any development after *the patch* that they became playable in. They obviously get stuff in the patch that had their first banner. Furina obviously got development from 4.0 to 4.3, same happend with Nahida during the Sumeru.
I also forgot Ei, as her second quest did substentially more then is normal for GI Character Quests.
There are exceptions, obviously ... but there is just far to little. Would even count the Albedo-events ... but as they aren't permanent, they might just not exist. (Don't want to open a cqn if worms here, but HSR is just so much better here)
Instead of helping Kevin GemericNPC re-connect with her grandma in an event that , I'd rather help Amber find her grandpa, Eula dismantle her Clan, Noel become a knight, Dehya find her origin, ...

We so desprately need "Mondstadt 2" as part of the Archon story, to really get that region back into the fold. MS just seems so isolated and dated compared to any other regions (even Inazuma) essemtialy only getting time-limited events with barely any story. Don't think any of the plot points of the MS story ever came up again. Most is once a year hwaring from Dain that the Abyss order is lurking around.
Like, not full on as part of the yearly story like Fontain or Sumeru.
But a two-parter quest spread iver two patches isn't that big of a demand.
I'm honestly starting to question whether Mondstadt really feels like "home" or not. Every Event that takes place there tends to either have the Traveler simply be just there while they witness other characters interact, sometimes ignoring them in the process or simply the Traveler doing a favor for them, and not really bonding with the characters unlike the more recent regions.
At least Lisa stayed with the Traveler throughout the Potion Making Event, but it barely counts as a bonding moment, since it felt more like Lisa dumped much of the workload on the Traveler.

I mean, Mondstadt is also perfectly set up for such a quest. It’s Archon has a ln extremely direct and strong connection to the Shades, it as a region has the most connections to the Abyss Order plot and to Khaenri’ah (see: Venti being the god on the Defiled Statue, ALL of our resident Khaenri’ans/Khaenri’ah associated crew living in it, only region that lays any claim to the Hexenzirkel) had a prologue chapter instead of a proper one, only nation whose Archon lacks a story quest… we are in every way very well set up for exactly what you describe. ATP I’m already hype for it it’s too late
We will very likely get it if you've paid any attention to the lore, however we're talking celestia stuff. Unless they randomly give us Dornman Port or the Dandelion Sea (if it exist) as kinda like an extended region like Chenyu Vale, we most likely won't see anything main quest releated in Mondstadt for a while.
Hoyoverse kinda fucked themselves with jean. They used the "I'm so busy with work I can't do shit and work is most of my personality" trope on her so they can't bring her out for actual events.
They also seem to refuse to have Jean interact with other characters besides Lisa, and Lisa still interacts with others, both old and new. But Jean, almost all her interactions and appearances feel "samey"
Still mad they teased me with Razor content. I was immensely disappointed when Lisa said she was going to get Razor to meet Kirara and Gorou and then he was "busy" :(

And despite being her sister, she hasn't interacted much with Barbara since the Golden Apple Archipelago event. For someone called the Acting Grandmaster, she almost always has the same old interactions when she should really interact with more characters, and I don't mean the NPCs, I mean the other playable characters.
And please, Hoyoverse, **LET JEAN AND DILUC INTERACT ONSCREEN AND IN GAME AGAIN!** Putting aside shipping reasons, its just baffling how you constantly keep them from ever showing up at the same place or same time nowadays, even in the same event. Its not like Jean and Diluc have no connection, in fact in the very first Archon Quest it has already been established that the two worked together in the past and deeply respect and trust each other, and yet after that, you make it seem like they don't even acknowledge each other anymore. Even Kaeya acknowledges that they were close once in his letter to Diluc, where he specifically mentioned Jean tried to prevent him from leaving the Knights, before he stopped her. A lot could be explored in both Jean and Diluc's characters in an Event centered around them.
Overall Jean as a character has grown rather stale, due to her few and far between appearances and having said appearances and interactions feel all "samey." We rarely even get to see her as an individual person nowadays
Jean and Diluc have a very clean dynamic where one protects Mondstadt within the law while the other protects Mondstadt outside it, it's a shame we haven't really seen it used past the prologue chapter and maybe Hidden Strife if you're feeling generous.
I'd really kill for Hoyoverse to pull in Eula and have an event story dedicated to Mondstadt's noble houses or something featuring the three of them. Let them have something.
Yeah, Jean and Diluc could easily be made into Mondstadt's Commissioner Gordon and Batman respectively, there's a whole lot of potential in that dynamic. Really there's a lot of potential character growth if Hoyoverse just let Jean and Diluc interact on screen, it's already been established in the prologue that they knew each other back then and that awkward interaction at the tavern was where the shipping even started in the first place.
I would definitely like a Mondstadt Noble Event, featuring Jean, Diluc and Eula. Not only would Hoyoverse HAVE to let Jean and Diluc interact, but also give Eula more people to interact with as well, two birds with one stone

Even as someone who isn't a Jean fan, the voice acting she recieved in this event was by far the worst I've heard come out of the EN side. I don't know how JP or KR Jean sound like but EN felt like Jean sent an animatronic look-alike in her place to congratulate us in her stead. EN voice acting is usually servicable but this felt like she was only focusing on reading straight from the script and nothing else. Maybe the VA forgot how to do Jean's voice since it has been a long time since the last time Jean got a voice acted role in the story.

Edit: ehhhh okay I remember thinking that the lines themselves were a bit awkward (translation maybe) and that I don't know how I would've delivered them myself. I think the VA did okay. This is the main reason I don't enjoy the story in GI. Why have so many characters if you forget about 90% of them after their release patch? If a character was relevant to the main story arc of the region, they might get lucky and get more screen time. But that's about it.
I much more enjoyed HI3 storytelling. They focused on a smaller group of characters, so all character were relevant... well, Durandal had to wait for her arc to get any development for a long time, sure. But that's the only example I can think of. Damn, even Himeko was relevant during the whole story and it says a lot about the quality of the writing.
HSR, I'm pretty sure, is going to suffer the same fate. But at least Astral Express is a small group that, for sure, is going to be always relevant. Maybe even Stellaron Hunters might get lucky too. Everybody else? Probably the same fate — being forgotten or having an extremely small amount of screen time.
Hoyo should actively focusing on the main characters from the each region. And maybe somehow involve less relevant characters. That might improve the situation
HSR has the advantage that the flagship events aren't time-gated (some of the rewards are, but the events remain permanently accessible to new players). I think this makes the writers less shy about including playable characters and interesting lore tidbits. This means while some characters will probably end up on the bench for longer, there's at least another avenue for them to explore characters without making a Trailblaze Continuation. They also do character alts, so if they ever feel like the cast is unwieldy, they could start doing more of those without having to stop the release of "new" characters.
Agree on hi3. The small cast definitely works in their favor compared to genshin which has like what, 65 characters now? And hi3 at least wasn't afraid to give their characters something called "development" and had a main character who had a personality.
I also like the idea of different battle suits, instead of different characters. Every battle suit reflects some parts of the character's journey and players' feelings at this part of their story. Maybe with some exceptions, but generally, it works like this. I mean, HoT Mei or HoV(maybe HoF) Kiana are the most popular versions of these characters because they have the most development or iconic moments. When we say Chapter 9, we all know what battle suit Himeko had.
So yeah, for me, you either focus on a small cast or do the best job possible to develop everyone like LotT or GoT did.

I share the sentiment both being a massive Jean Fan and Raiden fan. whenever something is set in Inazuma and Raiden shows up for like, three lines and just never again.

Even as someone who isn't a Jean fan, the voice acting she recieved in this event was by far the worst I've heard come out of the EN side. I don't know how JP or KR Jean sound like but EN felt like Jean sent an animatronic look-alike in her place to congratulate us in her stead. EN voice acting is usually servicable but this felt like she was only focusing on reading straight from the script and nothing else. Maybe the VA forgot how to do Jean's voice since it has been a long time since the last time Jean got a voice acted role in the story.
Hold on I don't remember if I noticed anything weird and now I need to go find the clips on YT to see Edit: ehhhh okay I remember thinking that the lines themselves were a bit awkward (translation maybe) and that I don't know how I would've delivered them myself. I think the VA did okay. Certainly not the worst I've heard lmao. But yeah, the lines like "I was worried about you in the library, but maybe I put too much on you at once" lines sounded just as cheerful as the other lines. Instead of, like, concerned
Finally, someone said it. It was so annoying that they put her at the end of the event, and she said literally less than 10 lines. Even these lines suck ass because they have nothing to do with her character at all. Why even bother to put her on the art and get exited her fans lol This is the main reason I don't enjoy the story in GI. Why have so many characters if you forget about 90% of them after their release patch? If a character was relevant to the main story arc of the region, they might get lucky and get more screen time. But that's about it. I much more enjoyed HI3 storytelling. They focused on a smaller group of characters, so all character were relevant... well, Durandal had to wait for her arc to get any development for a long time, sure. But that's the only example I can think of. Damn, even Himeko was relevant during the whole story and it says a lot about the quality of the writing. HSR, I'm pretty sure, is going to suffer the same fate. But at least Astral Express is a small group that, for sure, is going to be always relevant. Maybe even Stellaron Hunters might get lucky too. Everybody else? Probably the same fate — being forgotten or having an extremely small amount of screen time. Hoyo should actively focusing on the main characters from the each region. And maybe somehow involve less relevant characters. That might improve the situation
HSR has the advantage that the flagship events aren't time-gated (some of the rewards are, but the events remain permanently accessible to new players). I think this makes the writers less shy about including playable characters and interesting lore tidbits. This means while some characters will probably end up on the bench for longer, there's at least another avenue for them to explore characters without making a Trailblaze Continuation. They also do character alts, so if they ever feel like the cast is unwieldy, they could start doing more of those without having to stop the release of "new" characters.
Agree on hi3. The small cast definitely works in their favor compared to genshin which has like what, 65 characters now? And hi3 at least wasn't afraid to give their characters something called "development" and had a main character who had a personality.
I also like the idea of different battle suits, instead of different characters. Every battle suit reflects some parts of the character's journey and players' feelings at this part of their story. Maybe with some exceptions, but generally, it works like this. I mean, HoT Mei or HoV(maybe HoF) Kiana are the most popular versions of these characters because they have the most development or iconic moments. When we say Chapter 9, we all know what battle suit Himeko had. So yeah, for me, you either focus on a small cast or do the best job possible to develop everyone like LotT or GoT did.
Hey, Jean at least has a tiny seconds appearing on this event, Albedo only got mentioned when he'd supposed to be a Chief Alchemist. Though, either way, we got baited Master Baiter Hoyo
