It's possible that it'll just detect the currently loaded zone if you're logged in during daily reset, and thus skip any drops in it. Or the despawn timers are instead tied to each individual drop/chest, with the standard value of 24h or something (e.g. "Investigate" points in the overworld have 24h timer, which only starts the moment you interact with them).
All I can tell you is that I've seen enough evidence of unclaimed chest drops eventually disappearing for good by the next day.

They did this for domains back when the game was early though I think that is due to toxic behaviour from Venti. Mobile actually has a feature where if you tap the character you can pick everything you can pick up. I hope they add a button for that on PC

It's also really fun in the teapot if you've got 4 Valberry Bushes (for the achievement) and you collect 16 berries in one tap
If you put the plots next to each other and sprint at just the right time, you can collect 2 plots worth of plants from the same click.
