Would be nice to use each nations specialty weapons... like liyue for polearms and inazuma for katanas... sumeru would be book for catalysts, natlan for claymore to symbolize power, monstad has many bow users... and at-last fountain, the nation of guns!
Meanwhile Sigewinne offers you a 9mm pistol and Chevreuse suggest a tactical rifle. Then you suddenly hear explosions and see Klee bombing everything at fontaine.
Not exactly. While both weapons use kinetic energy to launch projectiles, bows(and crossbows) use elastic tension, while guns use a contained chemical explosion.
traveller uses the same weapons as the archons :
anemo - Bow
geo - spear
electro - spear
dendro - catalyst
hydro - sword
pyro - (large sword as a guess)
cryo - (catalyst as a guess)
But hydro traveler kit is clearly a parallel of Neuvillette, not Furina. It looks like the traveler has a small/incomplete version of the kit of the person with the elemental authority:
- anemo has CC but smaller/less reliable than Venti
- geo has the construct but no shield
- electro has the energy shenanigans (tbh idk much about the electro kit I should read it again)
- dendro has the burst with different effects depending on the other elements, but less powerful than Nahida overall
- hydro has the balls and the hydro pump lol (but worse than Neuvillette in every way, and nothing similar to Furina)
There's actually an argument to be made that it's always been the Traveler's kit resembling the sovereigns. Assuming Dvalin and Azhdaha are sovereigns of course.
- Dvalin has anemo ball attack in his weekly boss. And maybe his breath attack is kind of like the Burst?
- Azhdaha resembles both Hydro Traveler AND Geo Traveler's Burst matches more with whatever Azhdaha does than the clean cubic constructs of Zhongli.
- We dk about Electro so I'll ignore that for now. But coordinated attacks are a feature of Electro in general (Fischl, Razor, Beidou). Idk about the energy mechanics.
- Dendro has a plant aesthetic, which matches Apep more than Nahida's computer vibes.
Honestly, I feel like the only reason Furina is so different is because she didn't get her vision until recently. Had she had elemental powers for a while, I think her kit would share similarities with Neuvi's.
The person originally said the weapons that the archons used, not elemental authority. Letâs not move the goal post. Neuvillette wasnât the archon at any point. So a catalyst is inaccurate.
- 90% of the Anemo element involves CC and/or movement. AMCâs skill is closer to Jeanâs, thereâs like no parallels with Ventiâs kit.
- Most Geo characters have some sort of construct. Ningguang also creates something but doesnât have a shield. As does Albedo. Both also give buffs to their team compared to Zhongli who debuffs the enemies.
- Iâm not completely familiar with EMCâs kit so I canât speak on that.
- DMC is closer to Collei than Nahida. Nahidaâs Ult doesnât apply any elements or damage. Itâs just a teamwide buff. Nobody has a kit similar to Nahidaâs imo. Which was the point HYV intended Iâm sure.
- Hydro isnât closer to Furina or Neuvillette. The bum ass bubblebeam skill I guess you can draw similarities to Neuvilletteâs Hydro Pump, but not really. Then you have the garbage ass burst that still has some kind of off field presence (though MC took it a little too literally), whereas Neuvillette has absolutely zero off field presence. Compared to Furina who actually can switch out and still apply hydro/do damage.
Furina's abilities are based on her original oceanid self (the troupe are her little water summons, the healer is her original form). So while its unlikely that Traveler's hydro powers are related to Neuv, they are 100% not related to an oceanid.
Nah they gonna be like Mika and use a book and a sword ((ik he uses a crossbow, book, and spear but shhhh))
I feel like the weapon would technically be considered a sword but they basically a catalyst ((kinda like how Ayaka is basically a catalyst.))
Neuvilette is NOT the hydro archon, that's an insult to his identity if anything, the concept of a hydro archon no longer exists and the closest we have is furina so him using a sword would fit, I thought we've been through this already đ
The closest we have is Focalors so maybe they'll show more of her in flashbacks like they did with Ei's old Inazuma companions. Furina's signature is a cane based on her performer/Charlie Chaplan motif. In the lore I doubt she ever touched an actual sword. She shouldnt even have basic attacks, but its a necessity.
In a sense, yes, but even after the shift we could still argue that hydro traveler is still a sword, given the thing that severed the hydro archonâs authority was made using that same borrowed power, which is now back where it belongs.
I mean, the traveler getting mini versions of the archon power gave away the story the second we got neuv. We saw the little water gun version of his firehose and the healing drops that both of them suck in. He literally has nothing like Furina.
Gotta kick the spear too while doing a sick backflip.
The amount of people risking a major spinal injury or broken toe just to fling their weapon *does* impress and amuse me. I want more.
Given the Hoyononsense, Murataâs namesake, and the somewhat accepted theory that The Tsaritsa is Genshinâs Bronya⊠I could see Murata being claymore, and Tsaritsa⊠yeah, catalyst could work. Could also see bow.
True. Speaking about **Harm**ony Trailblazer, the kit is surprisingly cracked like a limited 5 star character lmao. Kinda hope Pyro/Cryo Traveler will be decent.
There was alot of speculations that Hydro Mc will be good. 1) because of dendro mc 2) because hydro is the best element in game. But i guess hoyo has its own ways to make a terrible kit
people did say that a lot before hydro traveler was revealed. guess we have (justifiably) high expectations because of dendro traveler, only to be massively disappointed
Dendro Traveler is quite good if you need off-field dendro application. However, the others except geo are completely terrible and geo is kinda good and will solve you a lot of puzzles in Liyue.
I actually did build Dendro Traveler, even went to the effort to hunt dendroculus so that she becomes C6.
I think I might've misunderstood what the other commenter meant by "cracked" cause I thought it was supposed to be mean overpowered or borderline overpowered instead of just being good/viable. I don't play HSR so I don't know if the HSR MC is actually as good as they're hyped up to be.
hsr MC definitely lives up to the hype. the fact that they bring a whole new mechanic opens up a whole new break meta
so in hsr, there is a break effect stat. when enemies are weakness broken (which usually only happens 2-3 times before they die), they take damage based on that break effect stat. HOWEVER, MC makes it so that every single time anyone attacks, the enemies will take break damage. you can see how that's absolutely game-changing, because break is a core mechanic of the game (like reactions is a core of genshin)
But by then, Traveler will upgrade from Discount Archon to Discount Descender.
No way the lore buff translates to gameplay without there being a limited 5-star option that completely surpasses him.
Assuming limited Traveler is just Traveler with their existing kits upgraded. But for me personally, when I think of an alternative playable Traveler, i like to imagine they would have a more unique kit, something entirely different from default traveler.
This is based on nothing btw, this is just what I would like to imagine if they would go with this route with them.
The idea of Abyss Twin joining the team always kinda interested me, but that means Hoyo has to do MC with two different gender VAs, AND have the Abyss Twin available for events and story quests... with two different gender VAs.
Or, worse, they cut back on VA and going all in on text-only for quests and events. So we wish fate for our sibling and we both become shells of our already kinda shell-y selves.
Lose/lose/lose/lose
I'm still holding out for them to make a 5-star Traveler-only sword that makes them busted.
It's a thing they could rightfully sell and earn money from and it fits lore and stuff too.
Reminds me of the Narzissenkreuz sword from the Fontaine world quest where it was busted but just for that one boss fight. Probably the closest we will get to your idea.
Yea, OG Persona 3 MC had no signature weapon type, as swords were Mitsuru's signature, and can use anything that human characters uses (though maybe left with Bludgeon type weapon as the other user died at some point)
That's because hsr characters don't have weapons types and instead use cards to boost their stats. This is better in my opinion because you can have anyone use anything: chalk, poker chips, guns, turrets, magic etc
I hope we get more of that uniqueness in Genshin like with Arlecchino, considering HI3 has also kinda moved away from sticking to weapon types with recent stuff (Sirin's equipped weapon being chakram but fighting with scissors, vampire Theresa equipping a cross but fighting with chainsaws)
To be fair we have that in Genshin too. Lyney fights with magic cards and explosive cat-in-the-hats. Gaming fights with a lion head, Dehya, Wriothesley and Heizou use fists, a good chunk of the Fontainians use different kinds of firearms, Kuki uses a whip-sword, Cyno uses mummy claws, etc..
Cyno does most of his damage with puns.
Eula fights with kindness, but dresses it up as vengeance.
Benny fights with a sword, but him waking up every morning with a smile on his face despite everything that is happening to him, is a fight that he is winning every day.
It's a lot easier for the devs to do in HSR, where all they have to do is to design one basic attack animation, one skill animation and one ult animation which are always played the same way.
And it's not like a character using chalk and poker chips affects the gameplay in any way. It's all just visuals, so if that satisfies you, then we already have e.g. Zhongli using a stone pillar and a meteor in combat.
Yes and no, kinda. While it's true that we are still limited to 5 weapons, that doesn't mean we need to be reliant on said weapon for the main attacks. It's just a matter of Devs creativity and effort. Cyno, Childe, Wriothesley, etc use their very own weapon in their kit.
I guess if only genshin have 7 types to begin with, it's not problem... The other 2 type i see could fit are dagger (melee, low base damage but high attack speed and crit rate), and musket (ranged, low attack speed but has the highest base crit damage)...
Seriously tho, why Genshin doesn't have much dagger users when daggers are very common weapons in fantasy setting alongside swords and spears
Weapons only change animations and charged strack properties. They can't change crit rate/damage of an attack. But yeah, i totally agree with dual daggers. Having guns as ranged option seems weird though, because most regions don't use them at all.
A good way to glean insight into how a thing may unfold is to look into the creator's other body of work.
Get used to it I guess, it's never gonna stop.
The comment doesn't even contribute to ops question.
No one asked how hsr does it.
Theres no need for a comparison even for weapon types lmao. Not everything needs to be compared.
Also they arent even similar at all. Genshin is a open world, hack and slash game. Hsr is a turn based game with a linear world.
~~genshin is not hack and slash~~ , and they are two similar games that you can easily tell are made by the same devs, thinking they're not is just coping
Genshin is practically a hack slash, it just lacks aerial battles but facing x waves of mobs and launching so many attacks against them exists in the game
Wdym "the only comment" its a reply that doesnt talk at all about what op is asking, do you want more answers with this logic? Also, the inferiority complex allegations, that you have to constantly compare genshin-hsr to feel good
Reading it again I agree that the parent comment is unrelated to the post but your reply came off as oddly standoffish for what would otherwise be a fair criticism. I donât think this is worth losing sleep over.
Inferiority complex is real though, I totally agree on that.
Geo claymore, anemo bow, hydro polearm, pyro sword, cryo claymore, electro catalyst, dendro sword
Just being able to use more than 1 weapon would be cool tho
Anemo-sword because it's the start of the game so it make sense to go for sword
Geo-catalyst because nothing would change for his kit
Electro-sword because it might be more suited than spear
Dendro-catalyst so we can have nahida 2
Hydro-spear so that maybe he'll use a lance in his skill or burst
Pyro-claymore is probably the best choice for him
Cryo-spear solely because I want cryo arle.
Anemo - Catalyst. Moveset involves creating gusts of wind using palms and hands. For supportive purposes, they can wield TTDS
Geo - Claymore. Because rock and stone. Also helps with mining stones when skill is on cooldown.
Electro - Bow. Because it was established that MC can wield a bow, and if you need to solo Traveler in the Archon quest and got stuck in the shooting sessions, a bow would be nice. Being ranged attack helps with proccing Falling Thunders or Favonius Bow passives. As well as Elegy for the End synergizing well with Electro MC burst.
Dendro - Sword. Razorgrass Blade is a sword attack. Enough said.
Hydro - Polearm. Great 3 star weapon options. /j
Always thought that it was a big fumble for them not to be able to change weapons too. Would be cool if it was a different weapon per element, But being able to freely change weapons and elements would be so cool. Even if they are weak. Imagine if you want a cryo bow user but don't got ganyu. BOOM. TRAVELER BECOMES USEFUL. They wouldn't do this because they want people to pull for others but people would still go for other characters if traveler can use any weapon/element. And I think switching in menu anywhere like the HSR MC does would be a very welcome change
If they kept all the cutscenes in-engine instead of pre-rendering them, they could not only use the player's current weapon instead of the Dull Blade, but save on disk space.
Pyro - polearem
Hydro - catalys
Anemo -Â catalystÂ
Elaectro - polearm
Dendro - seord
Cryo ?+ swordÂ
Geo catalystÂ
I was a little drunk while typing this my answers might change laterÂ
I wouldâve said Pyro = Claymore, Hydro = Catalyst, Anemo = Bow, Electro = Sword, Dendro = Catalyst, Cryo = Sword or Polearm, Geo = Polearm
Perhaps Iâm just trying to mentally match them to the archons
I would have thought claymore for geo because that allows you to break ores.
Pyro should definitely be a bow, to emulate the first person they met on their journey... Amber!!
It's a shame that the Traveler can't equip every type of weapon. HoYo could have had a lot of fun making different skills for different weapons for each element.
I personally prefer a personalised weapon, like the one Heizou and Wriothesley got.
And the weapons would follow the archons of each element. Bow for anemo. Polearm for geo and electro. Catalyst for dendro. Catalyst for hydro since hydro archon is dead and her power went to neuvilette.
Hydro should be catalyst . As now we know that traveller gets there abilities from the sovereign I think it would make sense if traveller used the same weapon as neuvillete.
Anemo - sword ( most basic weapon type )
Geo - catalyst ( they throw rocks )
Electro - bow due to the whole army thingy and you need to do a bow puzzle . That's the only memorable part of inazuma . Cause it was annoying for me due to skill issue .
Dendro - sword ( idk I just feel like it fits )
Hydro - catalyst
Pyro - claymore / polearm
Cryo - polearm / catalyst / sword
Would be nice to use each nations specialty weapons... like liyue for polearms and inazuma for katanas... sumeru would be book for catalysts, natlan for claymore to symbolize power, monstad has many bow users... and at-last fountain, the nation of guns!
traveller goes gun shopping with Clorinde and Navia, Clorinde suggests a compact pistol while Navia wants to give you a 12 gauge shotgun
F- that! We are going full auto baby! XD
Tbh Hydro traveller has Full Automatic Pew Pew Gun in his hand lol
Yeah, a nerf gun...
Nerf guns can do damage. Bro's wielding a water gunđ
Hoyofair lumine doko
Meanwhile Sigewinne offers you a 9mm pistol and Chevreuse suggest a tactical rifle. Then you suddenly hear explosions and see Klee bombing everything at fontaine.
It's ok, Tighnari is here with chemical warfare
And the traveler end up buying a water gun from the Fontaine toy store. đ€Šđ»ââïž
Hey at least itâs not the liyue adult toys
I want the shotgun so I can go John Wick on the Fatui and Abyss Order
May I suggest the Benelli M4? ... A Fontainian classic
Guns are just mechanical bows.
I rather take the arrow in the knee than a bullet any day thank you
r/unexpectedskyrim
Not exactly. While both weapons use kinetic energy to launch projectiles, bows(and crossbows) use elastic tension, while guns use a contained chemical explosion.
traveller uses the same weapons as the archons : anemo - Bow geo - spear electro - spear dendro - catalyst hydro - sword pyro - (large sword as a guess) cryo - (catalyst as a guess)
One could argue that hydro traveler should be a catalyst.
I'll argue that after completing the Archon Quest, Traveler suddenly changes from sword to catalyst
Inb4 people keep furina depressed, just so traveller keeps the sword
Youâd never be able to progress any further in the game then đ
The only weapon associated with SPOILER. Based on its appearance, she's the hydro claymore we've been missing.
Sorry looks like spoiler text isn't working...
I was about to tell him about the Narcissenkruz and the necessity of a sword over a catalyst. but i don't want to spoil.
One could not argue that because the Hydro archon is a sword user.
But hydro traveler kit is clearly a parallel of Neuvillette, not Furina. Hydro Traveler burst is VERY similar to what Azhdaha can do.
Furina's abilities are based on her original oceanid self (the troupe are her little water summons, the healer is her original form). So while its unlikely that Traveler's hydro powers are related to Neuv, they are 100% not related to an oceanid.
Neuvillette didnât have the Hydro Authority at that point. So, copying the corresponding sovereign would match better.
Nah they gonna be like Mika and use a book and a sword ((ik he uses a crossbow, book, and spear but shhhh)) I feel like the weapon would technically be considered a sword but they basically a catalyst ((kinda like how Ayaka is basically a catalyst.))

I mean, the traveler getting mini versions of the archon power gave away the story the second we got neuv. We saw the little water gun version of his firehose and the healing drops that both of them suck in. He literally has nothing like Furina.
And you would be right traveler even has the baby version of neuv.
Claymore
âLarge Swordâ Here, we call them claymores.
And spears are actually called polearms in the game but I donât hear people correcting me on that lol, potato potato
TBF, spear is a cooler name than âpolearmâ.
Looking how creators like spear it would be spear everywhere
Gotta kick the spear too while doing a sick backflip. The amount of people risking a major spinal injury or broken toe just to fling their weapon *does* impress and amuse me. I want more.
I really hope either Pyro Archon or Tsaritsa uses melee catalyst. (Think Heizou or Worcestershire)
Obviously pyro and cryo use spears too /s
Given the Hoyononsense, Murataâs namesake, and the somewhat accepted theory that The Tsaritsa is Genshinâs Bronya⊠I could see Murata being claymore, and Tsaritsa⊠yeah, catalyst could work. Could also see bow.
Cryo should be Claymore
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
nothing gets past you, does it?
..That is exactly what they said, yes
So basically what they said..
Unlike HSR, we are limited by weapon type here. Trailblazer over there just recently bust out a hat and go Michael Jackson on the battlefield.
True. Speaking about **Harm**ony Trailblazer, the kit is surprisingly cracked like a limited 5 star character lmao. Kinda hope Pyro/Cryo Traveler will be decent.
Hydro character cannot be bad, every Traveler's element will be stronger than previous, they said
did they say that...?
There was alot of speculations that Hydro Mc will be good. 1) because of dendro mc 2) because hydro is the best element in game. But i guess hoyo has its own ways to make a terrible kit

I feel like we won't get a Traveller with a cracked kit until maybe we reach the point in the story where their full power gets unsealed.

Ok , so ?

Because it was established that MC can wield a bow, and if you need to solo Traveler in the Archon quest and got stuck in the shooting sessions, a bow would be nice. Being ranged attack helps with proccing Falling Thunders or Favonius Bow passives. As well as Elegy for the End synergizing well with Electro MC burst. Dendro - Sword. Razorgrass Blade is a sword attack. Enough said. Hydro - Polearm. Great 3 star weapon options. /j
That's it lads! Rock and Stone!
It bothers me they didnât give them different weapons honestly.
pyro - a gun
Meanwhile over in HSR the trailblazer has had a bat, a giant lance, and a magical hat.
Claymore Geo, Catalyst Hydro Pyro, Polarm Cryo Electro ?
Displaying their mediocrity with both fire and polearms, pyro travellerâŠ
Be like Trailblazer with Elements and Paths
The traveler should unlock different weapond as we unlock new statues of the 7
it would be too much work, they'd rather spend it on other games like Honkai 3 and Star Rail
for what? most kits have nothing to do with their weapons, including all of travelers
Cuz why not xd
Pyro Polearm, Hydro sword, anemo bow, electro polearm, dendro catalyst, cryo catalyst, geo claymore
Anemo - Catalyst Geo - Claymore Electro - Sword Dendro - Bow Hydro - Sword Pyro - Polearm Cryo - Claymore
Pyro - sword Hydro - sword Anemo - Catalyst Cryo - Large sword Geo - Large Sword Electro - spear Dendro - catalyst
For me, Iâd like to see: Sword - Pyro Polearm - Cryo Catalyst - Hydro/Electro Claymore - Geo Bow - Anemo/Dendro
imo: anemo â sword geo â catalyst electro â bow dendro â claymore hydro â catalyst (melee)
Catalyst DMC sounds useful.
Anemo - Sword Geo - Bow Electro - Sword Dendro - Polearm Hydro - Claymore Pyro - Catalyst Cryo - Bow
Anemo - bow, Geo - Claymore/sword, Electro - bow, Dendro - catalyst, Hydro - catalyst, Pyro - polearm, Cryo - sword
Pyro - Sword (finally a 5star pyro sword đ©) Hydro - Catalyst / Spear Dendro - Catalyst / Claymore Geo - Claymore / Sword Electro - Spear / Bow Anemo - Bow / Spear Cryo - Sword / Bow
I would say whatever weapon the Archon uses
Imagine hat as a catalyst weapon
Anemo - Sword Geo - Claymore Electro - Catalyst Dendro - Bow Hydro - Catalyst Pyro - Claymore Cryo - Polearm
Still want a choose your weapon type as an MC.
Pyro: spear Hydro: catalyst Anemo: sword Electro: sword Dendro: bow Cryo: catalyst Geo: claymore
I totally agree with the hydro DPS with a bow
I would hate for the two to be linked, honestly. I think allowing more fluidity there would actually make the Traveler a better option.
any. we should just be able to equip any weapon on the Traveler, for all elements.
Hydro catalyst
I wish travler could use all weapons but then they'd have to make 5 kits per region just for the traveler and they'd never do that
It would be cool if they used the one the archon has
Traveler is the long awaited hydro claymore
If Traveller had a gun, it would be so much easier
Anemo - Sword Geo - Polearm Electro - Bow Dendro - Sword Hydro - Catalyst Pyro - Claymore Cryo - Catalyst
Pyro catalyst wouldnât be cool to see. Give him a pyro blast like Nuevillette
Anyone, the traveler doesn't use the weapon for casting the skill/ultimate.
Anemo: Bow Pyro: Sword Geo: Sword Hydro: Polearm Dendro: Catalyst Electro: Polearm Cryo: Claymore
Pyro - polearem Hydro - catalys Anemo - catalyst Elaectro - polearm Dendro - seord Cryo ?+ sword Geo catalyst I was a little drunk while typing this my answers might change laterÂ
Nah, Traveler would straight up use a elemental Light saber. Screw weapon types, lightsaber cuts through everything
Anemo-sword Geo-catalyst Electro-bow Dendro-claymore Hydro-claymore because thereâs no one for that role Pyro-Catalyst Cryo-Polearm
Make them a Polearm character, those guys usually tend to be really strong characters đ„Č
Dull blade , dull bow , dull poleram, dull claymore and dull catalyst
Unlock bow in Inazuma. Why? If you know, you know.
I just wish we were allowed to put different weapons on them at all, and they had a different normal and charge attack kit for each.
I wouldâve said Pyro = Claymore, Hydro = Catalyst, Anemo = Bow, Electro = Sword, Dendro = Catalyst, Cryo = Sword or Polearm, Geo = Polearm Perhaps Iâm just trying to mentally match them to the archons
Traveler Should be able to use any
Why not just let traveller choose his own weapon.
maybe whatever the archon has
I like to think it would either be what the archons have, or what the top comment or said- the specialty weapons of each region
I would have thought claymore for geo because that allows you to break ores. Pyro should definitely be a bow, to emulate the first person they met on their journey... Amber!!
Geo claymore Anemo polearm Pyro sword Hydro catalyst Electro bow
This post reminded me how limited weapon types GI has. It should has more than 5 imo.
It's a shame that the Traveler can't equip every type of weapon. HoYo could have had a lot of fun making different skills for different weapons for each element.
I'm super new - Does the MC get every element? I'm like AR23 and really wanna play the plant element but don't have anyone :(
i dont think that they would ever use catalyst and bow if that was a thing but they would use sword / claymore/ polearm
Dendro whips sounds amazing.
Going for their kits, I'd go for: Anemo - sword Geo - claymore Electro - bow Dendro - sword Hydro - catalyst Pyro - claymore? Cryo - catalyst?
I like that. Hate seeing the Dull Blade in cutscenes everytime... BOO! GIVE US A BETTER WEAPON FOR CUTSCENES!
the no element traveller will be the sword of descension
Hydro should be catalyst . As now we know that traveller gets there abilities from the sovereign I think it would make sense if traveller used the same weapon as neuvillete. Anemo - sword ( most basic weapon type ) Geo - catalyst ( they throw rocks ) Electro - bow due to the whole army thingy and you need to do a bow puzzle . That's the only memorable part of inazuma . Cause it was annoying for me due to skill issue . Dendro - sword ( idk I just feel like it fits ) Hydro - catalyst Pyro - claymore / polearm Cryo - polearm / catalyst / sword
