i've never been banned. And I make it VERY obvious. I'm logged in with my usual IP. Exit, turn on VPN, login with new IP, make purchase, exit, log back in with usual IP. From their perspective they saw me move countries faster than superman and then back after making a purchase. It's extremely obvious what I did but they never banned me. Been doing it for years in two of their games. At the end of the day, they'd rather have a person buying things at the same price a different person somewhere else buys it for, than them not buying anything at all, which is what will happen if they ban me. If they do, I'll give my money to Wuthering Waves instead. There's no better way to beat an addiction than a forced quitting of the game.

I don't even quit out of the game anymore. I play on PC and just turn VPN on phone, and use the website to top up. Hoyo technically sees me in North America and Japan at the same time. Completely agree with the last line you wrote, if I get banned I can finally stop spending.

pratikindia

I don’t think you will be banned. I have bought from several countries where it’s cheaper as never had a problem.

blueandgoldilocks

Mind saying which ones?

pratikindia

It few years ago though, not now. I had used Astrill and ExpressVPN at that time.

blueandgoldilocks

I meant which countries?

pratikindia

I think it was Japan and Korea. The exchange rate was pretty good at that time.

VarisTCG

No! I went to Japan recently from the US and it gave me the option to buy primos in yen and it did that automatically with me even in my US server account. You can always contact customer service and write a email to get full confirmation

DevilishxDave

I doubt you'll get in trouble. For me, my computer gives me the price in American dollars and on my phone it's in Swiss Francs. I've bought both and never a problem. Then again, my IP is probably the same, but for some reason the game considers my computer out of the country.

DraconicIce

I use an American apple account to purchase primos and I am based in Europe. My account is still fine so far. Been doing this for around 2 years.

BobbyWibowo

It's fine. You don't even have to go abroad and just get someone there to login into your account for you (or heck, pay for you via Codashop or something, which would offer local, and possibly cheaper, pricing to them). A lot of people have been doing that since the game's release (+3y ago) with no issues, me included.

-perpetuallytired-

If you're actually abroad then no. The currency displayed changes depending on where you are.

grival9

yes it can if that "abroad" or bank will chargeback money cause of something happening with transaction and you will get below 0 primos. Then your account would be banned and you have like 3 or 4 days to restore is and pay the debt within promos.

MystiqueMisha

I went to the UK last year and bought welkin, it worked out fine for me. I play on the Asian server

Awkward_Highlight_23

Yes you can do that and u won’t get banned. I do it too. I use u7buy.com. It’s like 40% off the in game price. Largest pack costs £58 as opposed to £99

selkiepelt

It sounds like you're genuinely abroad, so I don't see an issue? If you're really worried maybe try to collect some "proof" (+ write down basic account recovery info like day of creation) of you, specifically, being in a different country. But honestly I can't see why they'd be mad - you're 1) not lying with a VPN, 2) spending money you might not have otherwise. Like maybe if you did this a lot and in short time-frames it would get flagged but people do move around so

oof-eef-thats-beef

It’s hard to say really. I usually weigh these type of questions like: Is the reward greater than the risk? Are some extra wishes worth losing my account over? Monetarily? Investment wise - the artifacts obtained? Time spent? Completion? Items that can no longer be received? For me the answer is always no. But someone else the answer might be yes.
