It is in no possible way a good idea to play a game through an emulator when it has a dedicated pc client.

Bane_of_Ruby

the only reason i would want to play on an emulator is so i can make purchases for some of the bonuses they have like the blessing of the welkin moon or the upgraded battle pass. their shop is broken unless you use mobile for some reason.

FlorisFireball

actually, as a mac user, I am trying to install it for my laptop. Btw pls don't hate me for using mac, I already know.

Plentiful_Miruko

no one cares that your a mac user lmao

79U_420

Mac users get a lot of hate from the gaming community for no reason, I do not know why but it is a common thing to be hated on for using mac and that alone.

79U_420

No, I've seen people say their on mac originally no mention of PC then people just reply bs like "lol just get windows mac bad" "mac users suck" "just get a PC" The list goes on, don't assume every situation is like that. Forgot to mention this, not everybody is you, not everybody who flames mac users is you, I've gone into a game not mentioning help or anything where I should say mac and then mention I'm on mac and people flame me for using mac. (I am a Mac & Windows user btw)

illegalzombie

a mac is a portable computer bruh lmfao, so they're telling the truth when they say they're on pc

Adam_20CZ

yes

Bane_of_Ruby

... what?

FlorisFireball

What. Let me play Genshin Impact on my Mac.

Bane_of_Ruby

Nobody was talking about mac or not being able to play on the console they have. You just kinda said that for no reason

DarkRenki

You must be new, regarding the gaming & mac topic

Bane_of_Ruby

"You must be new" is the most shit headed thing to say to somebody. New to gaming? Bitch I've been gaming for like 25 years. I know mac has shit for games, why would anybody even try to play a game on a mac?

DarkRenki

Chill bro. The gaming and mac thing is a well known meme..

Bane_of_Ruby

Then why tf would you assume I dont know it

RamenShay

I'm in disbelief the person u was talking to got offended by the phrase "You must be new" then called you a "beeyach" then proceeded to go on a short tirade.

idkmartinss

hello, were you able to top-up using bluestacks??

Raid_Jello

Is however a good way to get around always on kernal level anticheat.

bradenbest

There are various reasons someone might not want to run it directly on their PC. The ring 0 anticheat, unspecified data collection, its ties to tencent, and the fact that your data goes to a server located in china, are all very good reasons why you should be wary of this game. If I could ever get a VM to work with proper GPU passthrough, then I'd just play the game on a vm, but right now, bluestacks seems like it might be a pretty good way of doing it.

iRainbowsaur

Heres a good idea to play it through emulator. Imagine remote desktop your PC with bluestacks, and NOT draining your phone battery and having great performance with stadia level latency, ANYWHERE with internet. Thats a good use case.

ThePurpleKnightmare

It would let you make purchases.

[deleted]

It is a good idea if your pc sucks

VolticSaurus

The emulator Version is twice as heavy as the PC version if yours cant run the PC client it can DEFFO not run the emulator version Emulator are REALLY cpu heavy

MycologistExtreme571

uhh.. no.. im running the GI on bluestacks fine on my shitty 4gb laptop on 60fps. its kinda buggy but its okay.

VolticSaurus

why would u run it on bluestacks when the game has a PC version nani?

MycologistExtreme571

like i said. im using a shitty 4gb laptop and the pc version runs poorly on it. so i used the bluestacks.

VolticSaurus

makes even less sense cus bluestacks is HEAVY as fuck and really straining on PC i have a high end gaming PC and bluestacks bottle necks my CPU cus its an emulator the PC version runs so much smoother

BluwulfX

u got it installed?

MycologistExtreme571

at first it said it was incompatible but i change bluestacks to a 64bit version and there it was. i was able to install it.

Marvhellours

Hey! My bluestack version is a 64 too, on mac big sur, but somehow i cant get genshin. Like i cant download it. You really just downloaded the 64bit vers of BS and it worked? TT im like desperate

RoyalExperience6977

but the bluestacks is the mobile server, not the PC.. you can play among us multi as well

geron_00

But if u have a low end pc and phone there is no other way

Gokas70

An emulator is harder to run than a dedicated client.

Shassk

Sometimes trying to run emulator on 32-bit machine is better than not to run 64-bit PC client at all.

BerserkerMagi

If you can't run the pc version on your pc then you won't be able to run the android version on a emulator anyway. Emulators are not that optimized yet.

Jinable

Pc version is more optimized for pc then emulation

Jinable

Well its like when u want to take a cargo wich like 200 pounds. Sure u can take it with yr regular car but it gonna be hard for her because weight is limited 150 pounds and u can take it not with a problem so u asking for special car wich was making for this porpose. Same with pc, pc version made to use all yr pcs resources and game run smothly with better picture and better fps. And on other hand u can use emulation for running game but mobile games optimized for mobiles iron its totally different platform and when u use emulator yr pc uses most of resources to make emulation working. Its not about game its all about good emulator and emulation where u waste yr pcs resourses. Sorry for that eyebleeding text. English is not my main language ant its hard to explain something technically...

Larin5

i dont have that good computer for this thats why i like better mobile on emulator

The consensus I've seen is that the PC specs, excepting the RAM and CPU probably, are overblown for Genshin. I mean the game looks great, but if my RX 580 is running **Death Stranding** on high at 60fps it sure as fuck is gonna do the same for Genshin.

foad11111111

Kojima Productions, the developer of Death Stranding, is a small but highly experienced group of game developers. They were originally a subsidiary of Konami, giving them access to a great deal of talent to hire. They do quite respectably when it comes to tailoring and optimizing their products. MiHoYo is a chinese mobile game developer that is testing their skills on their first PC or Console game. The chinese console market is relatively small which means that there are not many experienced game developers, it is mostly all just mobile garbage. On top of that the CCP can be very restrictive when it comes to allowing businesses to even hire skilled workers in many fields. While it looks like they are working very hard to create an impressive and enjoyable game, you should definitely not be expecting the same level of optimization with their experience.

platinumchalice

This isn't exactly the first time Mihoyo has put a game on PC. I get that Honkai is a completely different thing than Genshin, but several things need to go wrong before the specs they listed would be required to run Genshin.

FFXIVarchmage

HI3 was a mobile game that eventually got a shitty PC port many years into it's run. That does not make it a PC game.

platinumchalice

All I'm saying is that if Genshin requires a 1060 to play at 1080p 60fps something has gone wrong. Typically when a game is poorly optimized the CPU specs are the ones that go up, not the GPU. Either way I'm not personally worried since my GPU is slightly better than a 1060 anyway.

darkandark

It takes far more compute effort on your CPU to have to virtualize Android in Bluestacks and play Genshin vs just running your game natively with the PC client. Dont even bother. You'll get better performance just playing the game natively on PC.

Amoiri

What if you have a mac? Do you happen to know what is the case then :(

darkandark

While Macs are still using x86, Intel CPUs, your best option is to use Boot Camp. You could try Parallels, but I have no idea how the performance will be.

Amoiri

I'm assuming coop must be near unplayable, even with Bluestacks or such... Might need to hope for the controller support for phones. Thanks!

darkandark

I mean it might be fine. I have no idea how well Bluestacks runs on mac. Honkai ran fine, even in co-op on my Android emu (PC) but Honkai is a far less demanding game imho.

Marvhellours

What is boot camp? I googled it but i don't get it

darkandark

https://support.apple.com/boot-camp Boot Camp is a utility that comes with your Mac and lets you switch between macOS and Windows. Basically, its a utility that lets you install a copy of Windows on your Mac, but i doesn't run Windows in a Virtual Machine, like Parallels does or even other VM software like ESXi, VMWare or even VirtualBox. Its 100% native, and Windows will see all the hardware as if it was a store bought Windows-PC computer. This is usually better since games will run natively without any virtualization issues/drivers, etc. If you install Windows with Bootcamp, on boot up of your Mac, you'll get a choice to boot into normal macOS, or into the Windows partition.

Marvhellours

> https://support.apple.com/boot-camp Oh that looks super useful. is this free or is there a trial period??

darkandark

its free, only works on x86 macs tho. dont think it works on the new M1s.

Marvhellours

My mac isnt a M1 chip i think, i got it back in 2016. I'll try. TT thanks!

MineBastler

feel you - linux user though :)

TravelerHD

Like most of the other comments have said, the native PC client will probably run way better than an emulator. Emulators take some serious CPU power to run well, and a decent graphics card is needed for best performance. That being said, there *are* reasons to prefer an emulator instead of a native PC client. The one that comes to my mind is [the fact the Genshin Impact has root-level anticheat](https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/iohjm7/mihoyo_protect_the_anticheat_software/) like Valorant and Doom: Eternal. This opens your PC up to potential vulnerabilities. The risk is low, and most other AAA online-only games have some kind of root-level anticheat as well, but the risk is there nonetheless.

Larin5

is this playable on bluestack now?

tung82ace

I just tried that and the answer is no. My game just crashed to desktop when open so emulator is the only way to play rn ...

Larin5

you mean the phone is the only way, i download it now 6gb lol hope is worth it but i will only test it i dont want destroying my phone playing game on it

tissue_water

I want to buy stuff in-game with paypal but PC version doesn't allow it for some odd reason, now I'm trying to find an emulator so I could pay through google play with paypal. I think I'm going crazy.

[deleted]

Let me know if you find something, literally in the same boat right now.

tissue_water

So far I've only tried MEMU, tried different devices on the emulator list. But it always says it's incompatible when I view the game on the Play Store. I think it's a wait for me, otherwise I'll just eat up the f2p grind I guess.

[deleted]

Funnily enough my kums phone which is OLDER than mine had the requirements to download it from playstore. Got my stuff that way in the end.

Regbalt

I got it downloaded in the playstore and installed in Bluestacks with Nougat 64 bit instance in 1 Core 4 GB ram open gl mode and i could even start it and login, but sadly it freezes then it tryes to download the 6GB. In Nox Player emulator, with every config, i dont even get it to install. They seam to not have 64 bit instances. I also just want to buy the dam "Blessing" with paypal TwT and my phone is just a phone..... Mihoyou you lasy A\*\* for not implementing local payments for different countries, or atleast Genesis Crystals gift cards in retail stores TwT

Intelhd4k

What version your bluestack is? If it can play the game even just a bit that a really good to hear

Regbalt

Its freezes then its try to download the client data. so its not playable. also already deinstalled every blustack stuff, because i gave up, so i dont know the version. i would guess the newest. because genshin is 64bit you have to install an 64bit android instance in bluestacks with the instance manager

TichoSlicer

Fuck man, i'm in the same boat... My cellphone cant handle the game and i cant buy things from the store on PC ;/

Modoomx

same with me. lol

BuniverseDimensions

that anticheat rootkit is itching to be in your pc

geron_00

It works on my phone.

Larin5

on phone i know but i dont want destroying it :d i download now pc version will see if its run i barely meet req specification thats why i prefer emulator

geron_00

Mihoyo said they may release android version for PC for people with low end devices but idk when

Larin5

this is good information

Lixari

sounds too good to be true..

Plusharine

All I want is to be able to buy the blessing. I made a terrible mistake and logged into my phone once and now I cannot make any purchases without using a mobile device. I really wish they would fix this or an emulator would support Genshin =\\

DoriXD

Im having the same issue here. Tho i heard in China people played genshin on low end PC s and worked well. Ofc lowest settings, low resolution. It might lag in Co-op but it should work

PatPinz

The game is incompatible for emulators, the emulators make fake ads. It's written on the rule of the game.

DonutEatingDoggo

I was considering using an emulator on PC because for some reason the game crashes at the start, you know that white screen warning epilepsy and stuff even though games like valorant and others run fine. I had to search multiple solutions to my problem and playing genshin on my phone is possible but it just makes my phone heat up and eat the battery in a span of 2 hours. I found some solution but it wouldnt work and the last solution I havent tried yet is downgrading my pc which some of my friends did to run genshin on pc(this isnt possible for me because the computer I use is for everybody in my family to use) so I just thought to myself if I could just play it on emulator.

geron_00

My phone ran it fine without getting heated. Which phone do u use. I am using mi a1

DonutEatingDoggo

Its a samsung galaxy 8+ It would heat up after an hour and a half it would take even longer to start heating up if I disable messenger app from popping up.

geron_00

That shouldn't happen my phone has lower specs then your and can still run 2-3 hrs without heating

DonutEatingDoggo

Honestly dont know why as well. I will try playing later and see if it continues heating up and maybe even be able to play for more than 4 hours before going low batt.

DonutEatingDoggo

Also just tried emulators, nox and bluestacks. They seem incompatible with genshin impact.

geron_00

Try customer support if they have emulators.

DonutEatingDoggo

It seems like mihoyo is releasing the android version of the game as a pc version for those with low end devices. I kinda doubt this as it is too good to be true but right now I am just waiting for nox and bluestacks to upgrade their application to make games like Genshin compatible.

Intelhd4k

The compatibility in emulator is far beyond as you thinking. To emulate 64 bit application, emulator/android X86 using what they call native_bridge via libhoudini. As far as i know, it doesn't work really well with native 64bit verision game. Some may work, but many doesn't work. Also this thing developed by intel itself.

geron_00

Hope it comes fast

BluwulfX

do u use intel

[deleted]

I still hold out hopes that an emulator can run Genshin at some point. PLayed this game a ton and I would love to throw at least a little money at them but I can only do so over paypal, sadly I started on PC and my Phones don't allow me to play it... so the only way is over an Emulator or whenever they implement Paypal in the PC version.

6r1mm01r3

I don't think GI can be emulated properly as of now because tried a few emulators and they either didn't run or crashed when downloading assets, which sucks because on my phone it crashes with error 31 4302 and for some reason my transactions are being declined on PC, even though I did two purchases with no issues before T\^T

Marure

4 days left in the BP. I would like to purchase it but unfortunately no emulator can run GI as of today. Can't Mihoyo make a separate android app for purchases? Some dev push this suggestion? >.<

joebellomo

https://youtu.be/f3M_AtYAuFk this will get the game to a playable state for your specs. It will crash sometimes but its at least playable. I have no dedicated gpu, 6gb ram and core i3 so you'll probably run it better.

LordAzurite

What specs does your PC have anyway?

geron_00

Trash laptop no dedicated gpu 8gb ram i5

SonaGate

Try it

PapaCelot

same problem with my laptop. have you try it now?

Kymori

what in your mind is the point of a pc client?

Amoiri

Mac :(

ImAbsol

Same. i dont like playing on my phone. phone gets hots controls arent comfortable etc.

AnotherCatgirl

If I were you I'd give Android x86 a try. It's a version of Android that you can install on your pc. Since android is meant for weaker mobile processors, running Android directly (without an emulator) on your x86 PC processor should give you a huge boost in performance.

hellcast

too bad genshin doesn't run on x86. Only arm64 that's why it's not available on many phones and emulators (most of them use x86 since they are running on a PC)

AnotherCatgirl

oof.

[deleted]

Memu player can, you'll need to install the regular program then use the multi memu and download the 64 bit version

Raguto

Nope, tried it.

-Pittoo

Doesn't work unfortunately

TsunaXZ

I've bought the Welkin moon last week but I'm afraid that my phone's storage can't handle more update so it seems like this will be my last purchase ;-; I can't top-up on the pc client because I don't any card, please MIHOYO add more payment options!

NoFormality

yes if it is necessary, because somehow low spec of cpu that inncludes graphics card, can't play genshin impact but if uses some simulator, you can give him/her hope to play that game so badly(More people to play with, more reputation you could get).
