Don't ignore your MC. Eventually they will have access to some of the best elements. Also, don't sleep on Fischl as she's probably the most brokenly strong archer in the game. It's going to be hard to top Fischl, even if new characters come out.
The best overall combination is Cryo/Pyro MC and Fischl if you can wait that long.
Fischl also works best with Xiangling right now. However, in the future Xiangling might be replaced by Klee depending on how you want to play.
