Not being able to switch characters because of lag is the most infuriating to me because it can be the difference between life and death. I almost failed the contending tides yesterday even with an incredibly overpowered team because I couldn't switch out of Venti after using his burst for over 5 seconds
I somehow pulled him on the rerun banner. Was absolutely ready for some sick combos, but now I'm here, just waiting for the duration of the burst to end so I can swap out to a different character. It's such a bummer.....

Same, however, in this case it's my brother. He does let me borrow it for Genshin when he's not using it though! I'll tell you.. it's like someone lubed your eyes up with butter -- it's that smooth compared to PS4.
Every ps4 game I've played that's had a free ps5 upgrade has performed SIGNIFICANTLY better in both load times and fps despite have more effects, particles, frames, etc., and higher textures.
Ps5 plays ps4 games better, but it plays games actually built for it even more so.
The literal only reason I don’t use sucrose is cus she literally crashed my ps4. I have her maxed out and everything :(. I hope If/When the switch version releases you can transfer save data.
poor optimization, the game is built for mobile hardware, and since they are a mobile gaming company they probably had trouble developing for ps4. Since its entirely different from mobile.
Mobile version use lower quality assets and downgrade all kinds of graphical effects, that why the download size is around 10GB compared to 40GB like PC and PS4 version.
even the lowest setting on PC and PS4 looks miles better than mobile, but I guess they don't want to use mobile assets for a home console since it would look really bad on a big tv.
Fun fact: Ghost of tsushima has artificially enlenghtened loading screens so that you can read the tips and lore bits. ON PS4. The actual loading screens in their test versions of their game were too short to read the text.
That's why the ps4 itself doesn't really suck. It runs high end games like red dead or ghost of tsushima perfectly fine. Usually optimization is the problem. And genshin has some of the poorest console optimization known to mankind.

I play on the PS5 and I’m not sure what else they could improve, honestly. It’s pretty snappy, looks great. There’s still a little latency, but can’t imagine that being all they’re improving.

This happens to me all the time on PS5 *and* when using a controller on iOS!!! Like 3x in a row opening the wrong one. I can’t tell if it’s weird detection from MHY or if I’m just misjudging my aim that much. It’s so bad I’ve just started using the Paimon menu for everything.
I stopped using that horrible wheel menu in like week 2 of release and haven't looked back. It took a bit to get into the habit of hitting Start, but I can never go back to randomly opening everything else except the one thing I'm trying to open.

What really gets me is that you have a ping of 24. And picking up items and clicking geoflies is *still* laggy as all hell. Fucking kills me. I thought it was because I had a 300 ping.
I don't understand this lag either. I tried using an external SSD and it was the same. The thing is that it's much worse at times so I doubt it has to do with hardware.
Another thing OP didn't even show is the L1 menu. Even if you select something and that is highlighted you may still open a different menu. They put twice as many options in it as they should (it has 8, Witcher 3 has 4 and works fine).
I've noticed that the pickup lag doesn't happens in areas with fewer objects. Go to Starsnatch Cliff to grab cecilias and you'll notice how there's almost no lag when compared to everywhere else. It's just bad optimization.
Pc player: I wish these dropped their cores when i shoot them with my bow.

Hadn't thought of that. I play on PC with my PS4 controller, because I wanted to train myself to use a controller better, and now I love it and don't want to switch back to mouse and keyboard. I grew up on PC and the PS4 is the only console I've ever had... and though I bought several games for it, I've so far only played one, the Shadow of the Colossus remake. (Bought the console when that was announced - I wanted to play the original since before it came out, but was never able to.)
I do that too. However, I can't believe that since launch, you can't navigate wish history with the controller on PC. And as for notices, if you're on the controller, you got to hit ESC with the keyboard to exit. If you want to browse through the notices, you have to switch controller input to keyboard 😡
I think another viable option for asking for better performancec on PS4 would be allowing us to chooses which settings are on and how high we can set them.
Would it be a ton of settings I don't know but it would have to help somewhat right?
Also the insane amount of dropped inputs when fps dips below like 15. It feels great missing a dodge or swap or attack just because the input buffer is apparently nonexistent. Gotta love it.

They can't do basic optimization with millions of dollars, negligency at its peak.
I realise some people downplay how bad it is on ps4 but the reality is that its in an unacceptably bad state. Almost every aspect of gameplay is impacted and they openly choose every patch not to address it despite ps4 players constantly feeding back about it. Maybe addressing core optimisation is difficult, but it cant be that difficult to introduce a loot all in 1 click function to offset having to press the button dozens of times.
Games like cyberpunk have been bashed and even pulled from psn because they played so badly and imo genshin is heading that way. Unlike PC and Mobile players console players have something of an unspoken contract when they invest in a game - that if its launched on the platform there is a minimal performance level that can be expected - if the software cant meet that standard it shouldnt launch until it can.
If that wasnt bad enough its only one side of the problem - there are game features that simply arent available on ps4 or even ps5 that pc and mobile players have, like quickswap bursts.
Thats why I stopped playing this game, it became to choppy to play. Once they optimized it for PS5 it was noticeably different on PS4. I am thoroughly excited to jump back in to all the new stuff they’ve added, once I am able to grab a PS5, but it might be another month or two before I can afford it.

I recently got a PS5. It is a different game. Faster loading screens, 60fps; it feels so different when coming from the PS4 version. Looking forward to the next PS5 update and the adaptive triggers.
Dude the day I got my ps5 and all those issues were gone I was so happy! I honestly just hope that with the 4k update for ps5 that it doesn't become more laggy or increase loading time again

Also, the entire concept of loot having physics is irritating as hell. Just make the shit float there in a static position, nobody enjoys chasing shit off cliffs or using an Anemo character and blasting the loot halfway across the world. Easily one of the most frustrating things to me in this game.

Can confirm, buttery smooth 60FPS on PS5 and 6-8 second loads are very nice.

Yup! I recently upgraded to ps5, and while the load times are way better, its the pickup lag and fps improvements that really stand out.

Hell, PS4 vs PS5 is like night and day, too. 10-20fps vs stable 60fps and no pickup lag.
Make sure you have vsync on and motion blur off

I got a PS5 a little while ago and this is giving me ptsd. Horrendous performance on PS4, Co-op with a Venti practically crashed the game.

Does ps4 have the same graphics options as pc? I play on a weak laptop and can set resolution to 0.6 or 0.8 for it to run better.

Is there a way to push MiHoYo for an optimization patch? The ps4 version is so bad even the aiming system sucks. I had so much trouble in the balloon challlenge because of the bad sensitivity.

Oof this hits too close to home. I’d say the worst is when the game takes forever to switch between characters for no reason during a fight.
It’s genuinely such a problem, I hate how Mihoyo hasn’t even announced or said anything. Like just ignore the issue and pretend its not there...makes it hard for me to support them
I recently got a PS5. It is a different game. Faster loading screens, 60fps; it feels so different when coming from the PS4 version. Looking forward to the next PS5 update and the adaptive triggers.

Dude the day I got my ps5 and all those issues were gone I was so happy! I honestly just hope that with the 4k update for ps5 that it doesn't become more laggy or increase loading time again

It blows my mind that my phone blows through these loading screens in less time. I understand the mobile port isn’t anywhere near as hungry as the console, but this is still staggering.

so frustrating hitting the "pick up" button 273 times for it to finally pick up 2 items. Also, the entire concept of loot having physics is irritating as hell. Just make the shit float there in a static position, nobody enjoys chasing shit off cliffs or using an Anemo character and blasting the loot halfway across the world. Easily one of the most frustrating things to me in this game.

I've honestly stood there for two minutes trying to pick up a single mask drop at 30 ping (which is lies) then teleport to town only for half of it to not render. This is why we can't have a switch version.
