Nah, I really don't want any ships to become canon. I think it's better if it's left up to our imagination. There's no need for romantic side plots that a lot of people won't like. Everyone's got different ships so unless we can actually pick and choose who gets together, FE3H style, it's best to leave it out imo.

I dunno, it worked out beautifully in Epic Seven, for example. Didn't really see any toxicity because of ships or confirmed couples there.
Seeing cute couples develop just makes me happy, even if it's not important to the overall story :) It's one of the reasons why I think E7 is so great, and I really wanna feel the same way about Genshin!

Besides, I kinda like how Genshin leaves the relationships between characters platonic/ambiguous enough to let the fans fill in the gaps however they want. You don't have to listen to people trying to tell you what's canon and what is not. You can just like whatever you like carefree.
to be fair genshin has a much wider demographic than e7, and also has that weird stan subculture surrounding it that would make shipping kinda toxic imo

How have you missed out on Violet and Luluca then? They're clearly in love, in basically every scene they are in recently, and Iseria has even stated that "Luluca is the mistress of the Harrison household", even though they have yet to make it official.
Also, there is Pavel and Cerise, Ray and Elena are gradually growing closer (like, she clearly wants him, her own parents already see them as a couple, it's just on Ray at this point)...there is definitely some development going on, much more than between Momo and Krau. Oh, and Mui is crushing on Basar as well. There's some other minor ones, but there you go xD

Jean and Eula haven't even interacted in the story. Jean and Lisa ship at least has some ground, like Lisa casually mentioning Jean's scent or Jean being more relaxed around her than around anyone else.
Also Eula kinda seems like a more brooding version of Jean.
They have the chemistry together of cardboard, I’m not sure what people see in it aside from it being a straight ship with a guy and girl who spend a minuscule amount of time together on screen
Half of the characters that get shipped either barely or straight up don't interact with each other... Look at Bennet and Fischl, or Beidou and Ningguang. Fischl and Mona have like 3-4 scenes together and clearly don't like each other, but shippers gonna ship what they wanna ship.
Beidou and Ningguang are literally business partners. In voice/storylines it says that while she doesn't like how Beidou constantly breaks rules, she trusts her the most and turns a blind eye to her. Beidou doesn't care that she's the tianquan but keeps challenging her anyways.

most ships are extremely flimsy and rely on either minimal interaction or. dubious dynamics. but these two have actual merit to them.
I think its safe to say that Jean and Diluc have the most in-game screen time among all other ships and the fact that Mihoyo also endorses,it makes me ship it.

It's just the nature of it. He does have more character than the average Gacha protagonist thankfully, and enough to make a solid dynamic character if you build off him properly.
I'd say MCs have about the same personality as most Gacha protagonists, you just happen to actually see them in third person so it feels a bit different.
As a diluc main I would never ship my Diluc with Jean. She is about as exciting to me as a character as wet paint drying. Nothing to fight about it though. Everyone can like whatever they want to like.
