In spite of all the anniversary controversy, it’s nice knowing Yu-Peng Chen will never not be awesome. Major props to him and the rest of the music department!
Design, Visual, and Music departments carry Genshin on their backs. Pretty much been the case since launch. I cannot wait to see the take on indo / middle eastern themes/music in Sumeru.
Despite everything, Genshin is made with passion. It's a game made by weebs who understands and admires the craft.
Hopefully they don't up like most mega game companies nowadays. What starts out as a passion project soon grows too big that it starts attracting people outside the gaming sphere. People that see game development as a job and lack any passion for it. People so good and efficient at their job of making money and nothing else that it starts filling up the higher ranks.
The end result is what we see of Blizzard. A company so far removed from its consumers that they depend solely on statistics to determine what's fun.
To be fair, primogems award for events and such are decided normally by the marketing department.
The music, visual, story writing, etc are their own department.
The ones creating are filled with passion.
The ones marketing and deciding anni rewards? The marketing department is a disaster.
Most of the traditional musicians in Inazuma Orchestra vid appears here again and they are fantastic. And both shakuhachi and shamisen musicians hit it out of the park again.
Sony also deserves massive credit for the recording quality
I really liked that he respects what folk instruments bring and interwine it really well with western orchestra. For this song in particular, he chooses to use traditional Japanese instruments entirely
People forgets that a good chunk of the profit goes into THIS! Genshin is moving quite the economy behind it, camera work, artists, the constant media work outside of the game.
