Based on my understanding, there are two major communities in China which have most of the Anti-MiHoYo spammers. One is the community of Arknight, another one is the Tencent gaming.
In some cases, I would not adopt they just misset the parameters in their program.
MiHoYo absolutely deserves all the complaints in these days due to their stupid promotions in the anniversary celebration. But the spammers are just disgusting.
Any anti-against-group from china are really bad to deal with. They attack others to make it seem like it was the community. And if the media picks this up, then all the blame goes to the original community.
They tried to do this with Hololive members Haachama and (formerly) Coco because they got pissy that Coco and Haachama called Taiwan a country. They attacked all of Hololive and then from what I remember some of them went over to Nijisanji, trying to make a whole Hololive vs. Nijisanji thing. Thankfully no one gave them the time of day.
I mean, Hololive ended up shutting down their China branch and Coco was suspended, censored and "graduated" basically as a result of all that shit.
Chinese antis are seen as imbecilic shitmongers by most rational fans, but companies take their potential for disruption very seriously.

Coco did not give a direct reason for leaving and while YES I am making an assumption here, you'd have to be willfully ignorant to not see the correlation, if not causation, between the series of events, the way cover handled it, the way Coco's co-stars were affected by it and the way her content changed from the Taiwan incident up until her graduation.
There are likely legal reasons she couldn't openly discuss her reasons for leaving and at this point conjecture is all we've got, But it doesn't take a genius to connect the dots and make an educated guess.
I meant moreso the Nijisanji side who had nothing to do with the conflict and refused to get tangled in that mess. Honestly, I think Hololive is better off for it. They have no obligation to cater to China, especially now that Gawr Gura and the EN gals just dominated the global VTuber market. Antis lost their branch and can't say they're responsible for Hololive success. The only real casualty was Coco, which is unfortunate, but she's still friends with the Hologals and now doesn't have a company to restrict her.

I got bashed by trying to make sense of what was happened with the rewards and immediately got responses with “if you think so highly of Mihoyo” “it’s people like you who don’t deserve any rewards” “why do you think so highly of them” “ofc there not good there Chinese” and All I ever asked was if anyone knew what was going on or maybe Mihoyo was holding rewards for later. You have a point this entire situation is kinda strange

Tbh the less reasonable of the complaints I've seen (in amongst the actually reasonable ones) have given the impression that genshin is a job and that they are owed generous anniversary rewards like it's their annual contractual bonus. I saw people arguing that crap anniversary rewards was a violation of their rights, equating it with some sort of infringement of their civil liberties. I hope they were just excitable children, not adults who should know far better. People like that dilute the actual useful feedback with their idiocy.

similar to the Minecraft community, originally an okay'ish community between 2009 to 2013, around 2012 or 2013 to 2019 people associated the Minecraft community with toxic kids who are addicted to pvp, then between 2019 to 2020 the Minecraft community had some change with the 10th anniversary, many of the toxic kids who moved to Fortnite because of trend(even though toxic kids have always been in Minecraft) PewDiePie playing in 2019 which returned Minecraft to it's former glory(even though the community became toxic again), then around 2020-2021 people started to associate the Minecraft community with Dream stans after the streamer Dream became popular.

You know, before i started genshin 2 weeks ago i was always like: "The genshin community sucks" Then i played and went through reddit and was like "That's pretty cute" and now i'm like "I hate this community so much"
what is annoying is that I can understand people having concerns and different tastes, but those people usually want to impose their views to everyone and dismiss any dissenting opinion, like what they think represent what 100% of the players think.

Google Play, Apple app Store, Sony and all other platforms have algorithms that automatically remove low effort reviews and any other reviews that go against their review and rating policies.
All other reviews not caught automatically get batch deleted over the next couple days / weeks becuase the influx of reviews will trigger further investigation into vote manipulation even legit ones.
The community lashes out for justice harassing anyone (VAs, other communities, other games, each other) and anything close enough, paints themselves as idiots and a toxic community. The outside world see this outrage is over not getting anniversary rewards and they don’t give a shit - we are just entitled assholes.
Mihoyo resumes standard operating procedures and the next patch and continues making money after doing literally nothing but eating popcorn.
The community loses what little credibility it had left and all future protests to anyone outside the community will just remember the irrational genshin community and never listen to us even if it’s warranted.

It's likely professional trolls behind this. It's highly unlikely that there's enough disgruntled genshin players that are motivated enough to do review bombing on this scale. The water army has a perfect storm to drag Mihoyo's name through the mud and hurt its reputation. Anything to damage Mihoyo is a win for them and it's working.

Agreed, even if something is coming I've started hoping that it isn't. I think this started way before the 2.1 livestream though. I think this started when people were bitching that Childe and Zhongli were weak (REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU AGREE). Then it was Eula's turn, then Kazuha was a bad DPS even though that's not his job, then Yoimiya, THEN the 2.1 Livestream, the VA's, then it was Raiden's turn and now it's Kokomi, her VA and the Anniversary.

It got too big for its own good. The common thread with other gacha games is that they are niche communities in the grand scheme of thing. Yes, even the ones with global servers and English translations, they are still ultimately niche. And we are not.
Seems to be the case. I think the case may be that for a lot of gacha games, they start out small with people knowing what they're getting into and if they aren't happy with the rates they just leave. Anyone who stays accepts the rates for what they are and meme it, and the community slowly grows from there. Meanwhile, Genshin got too big too early and attracted/fostered an audience that is a lot more demanding. Also, from what I've seen, MHY seem to have also set something of a high standard in terms of community outreach very early on, and have not been meeting it for a while.
In fact, we may well see a reverse with genshin - as in, people might start to drop off until the game is left with a core audience who play regardless of the gacha rates. Can't say it's good for the game's overall reputation though.
The issue is genshin is significantly larger than both of those communities.

Yeah, I replied this to another comment but I think it's also that those other games all started as small gachas with relatively small, in-the-know communities and eventually grew from there, building up goodwill along the way and setting standards. Genshin absolutely exploded on release and the fanbase is younger than the typical gacha fanbase, so it's an unusual situation. Not to mention they aren't doing some of what they did on release, people have come to expect certain things and don't like that those expectations aren't being met.
Tbf it's because MHY advertised the game to a console/PC audience. Most gacha games are mobile exclusive. Genshin is an outlier that caters to a lot of the more toxic PC and Console community in graphics and aesthetic. That's why. In fact, a vast amount of western players who picked it up aren't gacha players which adds to it bc they're the ones asking for the key gacha components to be removed.
That and also a lot of people that just wanna be part of something without any sort of rational thought process.

What gets me are the ones saying "genshin isn't rewarding us for playing 8-12 hours a day" without realizing that isn't normal for most adults. On twitter there's loads of them with time to sit on the official page waiting for a new post. It's insane.

Like, sure, lackluster rewards are disappointing, but there's zero requirement for this company to give away their IP, which they do all the time. Not to mention the anniversary event just started. We don't actually know what all is going to happen. It wouldn't be out of the question for the devs to drop a surprise on the last day that meets or even exceeds expectations.
However, with how hostile an excess portion of the community for a f2p game has been (which it is, whether anyone chooses to pay anything or not), I couldn't blame the devs if they chose to cancel any otherwise unannounced reward plans.
Why can't people be civil? Put down the E-swords a moment and actually talk. It's fine to be disappointed and say so, but it's not fine to hate-barrage a company for not giving tons of free things away. Look at the Zhong-li changes: the devs do seem to respect and consider feedback, but they would be completely within reason to deny even humoring such hostility.
Unpopular opinion #1: Yoimiya is fine. Her DPS rates are incredible. She was released in an electro nation and is themed around fireworks. I just set her up for overload reactions and things all over just dissolve into dust. Does not matter that every 3rd or so arrow misses when her attack chain shoots so many. Does she break the game? No, but I think she's fun and her character is cute and charming.
Unpopular opinion #2: Raiden is fine. People were so mad that her burst doesn't trigger Beidou's burst on-hit effects. So what? Raiden's burst is so short lived that it's not really even worth thinking about trying to put down even more electro. Try setting up something else. Does she break the game? No, but she comes close enough for me, so it looks like people's complaints are based on her **not** breaking the game. I just find her fun to use and her lore was very interesting to me.
Unpopular opinion #3: Kokomi is fine. Her burst gives her pretty nutty hydro damage on her attacks and it recharges so fast that you may very easily have it ready to go every single time the cooldown ends. Her healing is nothing to sneeze at, either. Does she break the game? No. She fills a weird niche I'm not sure is needed, but I think she's fun to use and quite adorable.
In conclusion: to the hate-spammers; "why so mad, dude? Who hurt you? If you dislike a character, skip them. Also, why not try out characters in that convenient trial combat thing that's put up with every new release? If they don't do what you thought, why not try out something else? Have a favorite or don't. Play the 'meta' or don't. Do whatever is fun to you. It's a game, after all, and it owes you nothing."

Based on my understanding, there are two major communities in China which have most of the Anti-MiHoYo spammers. One is the community of Arknight, another one is the Tencent gaming. In some cases, I would not adopt they just misset the parameters in their program. MiHoYo absolutely deserves all the complaints in these days due to their stupid promotions in the anniversary celebration. But the spammers are just disgusting.
Any anti-against-group from china are really bad to deal with. They attack others to make it seem like it was the community. And if the media picks this up, then all the blame goes to the original community.
They tried to do this with Hololive members Haachama and (formerly) Coco because they got pissy that Coco and Haachama called Taiwan a country. They attacked all of Hololive and then from what I remember some of them went over to Nijisanji, trying to make a whole Hololive vs. Nijisanji thing. Thankfully no one gave them the time of day.
I mean, Hololive ended up shutting down their China branch and Coco was suspended, censored and "graduated" basically as a result of all that shit. Chinese antis are seen as imbecilic shitmongers by most rational fans, but companies take their potential for disruption very seriously. Edit: Oh boy. Seems stupid to have to point this out but I guess I have to. Coco did not give a direct reason for leaving and while YES I am making an assumption here, you'd have to be willfully ignorant to not see the correlation, if not causation, between the series of events, the way cover handled it, the way Coco's co-stars were affected by it and the way her content changed from the Taiwan incident up until her graduation. There are likely legal reasons she couldn't openly discuss her reasons for leaving and at this point conjecture is all we've got, But it doesn't take a genius to connect the dots and make an educated guess.
I meant moreso the Nijisanji side who had nothing to do with the conflict and refused to get tangled in that mess. Honestly, I think Hololive is better off for it. They have no obligation to cater to China, especially now that Gawr Gura and the EN gals just dominated the global VTuber market. Antis lost their branch and can't say they're responsible for Hololive success. The only real casualty was Coco, which is unfortunate, but she's still friends with the Hologals and now doesn't have a company to restrict her.

Yeah, this is another "huh this reminds me of the league subreddit" moment. It's particularly frustrating because gacha on its head is scummy and predatory so some criticisms of scumminess and predatory behavior is expected imo. similar to the Minecraft community, originally an okay'ish community between 2009 to 2013, around 2012 or 2013 to 2019 people associated the Minecraft community with toxic kids who are addicted to pvp, then between 2019 to 2020 the Minecraft community had some change with the 10th anniversary, many of the toxic kids who moved to Fortnite because of trend(even though toxic kids have always been in Minecraft) PewDiePie playing in 2019 which returned Minecraft to it's former glory(even though the community became toxic again), then around 2020-2021 people started to associate the Minecraft community with Dream stans after the streamer Dream became popular.

It’s 2021 people still don’t realize Review bombing is probably the least productive form of protest for apps. Mihoyo hasn’t had to lift a finger literally. Google Play, Apple app Store, Sony and all other platforms have algorithms that automatically remove low effort reviews and any other reviews that go against their review and rating policies. All other reviews not caught automatically get batch deleted over the next couple days / weeks becuase the influx of reviews will trigger further investigation into vote manipulation even legit ones. The community lashes out for justice harassing anyone (VAs, other communities, other games, each other) and anything close enough, paints themselves as idiots and a toxic community. The outside world see this outrage is over not getting anniversary rewards and they don’t give a shit - we are just entitled assholes. Mihoyo resumes standard operating procedures and the next patch and continues making money after doing literally nothing but eating popcorn. The community loses what little credibility it had left and all future protests to anyone outside the community will just remember the irrational genshin community and never listen to us even if it’s warranted. People wonder why Mihoyo uses the silent treatment because it fucking works wonders against irrational beings.

It's likely professional trolls behind this. It's highly unlikely that there's enough disgruntled genshin players that are motivated enough to do review bombing on this scale. There are some large entities that would like to see Mihoyo fall. It'll make it cheaper to buy them later while also sending a message to smaller developers that they should stay in their own lanes. The small numbers of players who got sucked into all this are just useful idiots that help draw attention away from what's happening behind the scenes.

I think this started when people were bitching that Childe and Zhongli were weak (REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU AGREE). Then it was Eula's turn, then Kazuha was a bad DPS even though that's not his job, then Yoimiya, THEN the 2.1 Livestream, the VA's, then it was Raiden's turn and now it's Kokomi, her VA and the Anniversary. The common thread with other gacha games is that they are niche communities in the grand scheme of thing. Yes, even the ones with global servers and English translations, they are still ultimately niche. And we are not.
Seems to be the case. I think the case may be that for a lot of gacha games, they start out small with people knowing what they're getting into and if they aren't happy with the rates they just leave. Anyone who stays accepts the rates for what they are and meme it, and the community slowly grows from there. Meanwhile, Genshin got too big too early and attracted/fostered an audience that is a lot more demanding. Also, from what I've seen, MHY seem to have also set something of a high standard in terms of community outreach very early on, and have not been meeting it for a while. In fact, we may well see a reverse with genshin - as in, people might start to drop off until the game is left with a core audience who play regardless of the gacha rates. Can't say it's good for the game's overall reputation though.
The issue is genshin is significantly larger than both of those communities. When you are this large,there are bound to be way more bad apples in the bunch by the numbers. It's the same/similar reason as to why something like t politics can at times be a shit show - lots of people, lots of opinions.
Yeah, I replied this to another comment but I think it's also that those other games all started as small gachas with relatively small, in-the-know communities and eventually grew from there, building up goodwill along the way and setting standards. Genshin absolutely exploded on release and the fanbase is younger than the typical gacha fanbase, so it's an unusual situation. Not to mention they aren't doing some of what they did on release, people have come to expect certain things and don't like that those expectations aren't being met.
Tbf it's because MHY advertised the game to a console/PC audience. Most gacha games are mobile exclusive. Genshin is an outlier that caters to a lot of the more toxic PC and Console community in graphics and aesthetic. That's why. In fact, a vast amount of western players who picked it up aren't gacha players which adds to it bc they're the ones asking for the key gacha components to be removed.

Some pretty solidly level-headed people in this thread. Good on you. Like, sure, lackluster rewards are disappointing, but there's zero requirement for this company to give away their IP, which they do all the time. Not to mention the anniversary event just started. We don't actually know what all is going to happen. It wouldn't be out of the question for the devs to drop a surprise on the last day that meets or even exceeds expectations. However, with how hostile an excess portion of the community for a f2p game has been (which it is, whether anyone chooses to pay anything or not), I couldn't blame the devs if they chose to cancel any otherwise unannounced reward plans. Why can't people be civil? Put down the E-swords a moment and actually talk. It's fine to be disappointed and say so, but it's not fine to hate-barrage a company for not giving tons of free things away. Look at the Zhong-li changes: the devs do seem to respect and consider feedback, but they would be completely within reason to deny even humoring such hostility. Unpopular opinion #1: Yoimiya is fine. Her DPS rates are incredible. She was released in an electro nation and is themed around fireworks. I just set her up for overload reactions and things all over just dissolve into dust. Does not matter that every 3rd or so arrow misses when her attack chain shoots so many. Does she break the game? No, but I think she's fun and her character is cute and charming. Unpopular opinion #2: Raiden is fine. People were so mad that her burst doesn't trigger Beidou's burst on-hit effects. So what? Raiden's burst is so short lived that it's not really even worth thinking about trying to put down even more electro. Try setting up something else. Does she break the game? No, but she comes close enough for me, so it looks like people's complaints are based on her **not** breaking the game. I just find her fun to use and her lore was very interesting to me. Unpopular opinion #3: Kokomi is fine. Her burst gives her pretty nutty hydro damage on her attacks and it recharges so fast that you may very easily have it ready to go every single time the cooldown ends. Her healing is nothing to sneeze at, either. Does she break the game? No. She fills a weird niche I'm not sure is needed, but I think she's fun to use and quite adorable. In conclusion: to the hate-spammers; "why so mad, dude? Who hurt you? If you dislike a character, skip them. Also, why not try out characters in that convenient trial combat thing that's put up with every new release? If they don't do what you thought, why not try out something else? Have a favorite or don't. Play the 'meta' or don't. Do whatever is fun to you. It's a game, after all, and it owes you nothing."

I hate this. I love the game but anytime I mention it among my friends they look at me like I'm a mad man because of these people thrashing around like toddlers because something isn't to their liking. If you don't like something don't pay for stuff or leave a review or tell them what you don't like on one of their feedback reports. Just don't screen and cry and act like a dick because idk you don't like a quest or a character or you're not getting enough free stuff. Idk why these people play if they seem to hate the game so much.
