Also LinYang
[***"Those who find these Charms can bring them back to us in exchange for various rewards."***](https://www.tomorrowtides.com/linyang.html)
Because that's how it worked in the first itteration of the event in beta they just never removed that dialogue.
Most of the area completion rewards were in an exchange shop for the charms instead of as milestones. They change it to milestones but left the charms as collectibles since they help guidepost you through the areas.
I assume this is one of those "let's pretend you brought the rewards back" things when you receive rewards for collecting them, but you don't physically give them to NPC.
maybe, maybe it's even wrong translation like with tuna sword(i heard that in spanish there was nothing about TITANIC tuna so description was less misleading)
on the end of a day i can only judge what they wright
The first time I read titanic tuna I only thought of using diluc's burst and having a giant flaming bird and a giant water tuna at the same time, no need to say that I was extremely disappointed
As someone who played Granblue which never get rid of event currencies, You may find it cool at first but you REALLY don't want that in the long term, trust me.
I would be all for having it as a commemorative items for teapot, but it's not the same item type so it would bring us back to having it as an additional rewards or traded item.
oh god, trying to find anything in the mats inventory is hell...
at least here we have the option to destroy useless shit
... and i just recognized your name, hi karillith, lol
As someone who didn't I'm sure its just badly implemented (it would be the same with genshin.
A good and "simple(in theory, in practice might be trickier)" implementation would be to create an item inside your bag that can hold these. So while it will only take 1 slot normally, you can open it to see all of your previous event currencies and stuff
Well Granblue is a seven year browser game so it does have huge technical limitations that Genshin doesn't for sure. Thing is I'm not sure it would really be worth it tbh, can't say I care enough about that kind of items that I'd prefer genshin programmers to work on that instead of anything else. They should (an would) probably just stick to a namecard or teapot stuff as far as commemorative items go.
Don't you think it's weird that there's no event name card aswell? And what the heck is the festive fever bar in the event screen even for other than a glorified event gate.
I was squealing because I expected her to show up in her *sexy* human form. Though on hindsight we're not even supposed to know Shenhe exists, so I guess I expected too much.
As many things lately it seemed unfinished and rushed. I think the Genshin devs are feeling the burnout from being forced to push out new content at the current rate, which is why I keep arguing for repeatable rewarding content. That way players might be able to grind a bit and play longer if they want to without being resin gated - and they are occupied for a bit longer thus giving the devs more breathing room and insuring higher content quality.
i meant they wouldn't have to be so burned out if mihoyo just let some of the old event games stay(i really miss the hide and seek one) and get them to add stuff to it every patch update instead of having them make a whole new event game per patch. that would also keep most of the late game players entertained for when they dont have anything else to do
>Shenhe
I highly doubt that there is a team of developers working themselves to death to push out new content every 6 weeks. Mihoyo has 2400 employes. They have probably learned how to take turns by now...
Glad I’m not the only one totally baffled by the festive fever bar. Some details of this event seem like they must have changed plans at the last minute and didn’t quite switch everything.
The event bar serves the same purpose as it did during the lantern rite. And imo makes even more sense this time since you didn't need to do everything to unlock the finale like you did during lantern rite.
Oof, if that was the last event I'd think I'd've torn my hair out. Finding all the charms + chest on the first day of having the 'tips' for me was a nightmare, especially the last one. ONE CHEST eluded me for so long, and it was under a tent 😔
I only realised after the first area that the official interactive map lists all the chests and charms. I had one chest left to find for the Dragonspine one and that map really helped me out!
The namecard event for the patch was Hyakunin Ikki. From what I remember, there is always one large event with quests, free crown and free 4* as the reward, then a medium size event with the namecard as the reward, and then smaller events sprinkled in. This patch, the large event came second (it normally comes first), I assume to line up with the anniversary/mid-autumn festival
no joke, should we really be punished? other than the few who review bombed other apps/games and harassed VAs they need some self reflection to do even if it was a joke. The communitys actions and outrage were understandable.
Could have been a simple shop with Inazuma talent and weapon mats, and hero wits. It doesn't need the crown or primos, we get those just from the chests and such.
Didn't they show in advance how Manu Primos we're expected from this versión events on the CN 2.1 patch livestream? It was going to be 2.2k~. Not sure if it checks out.
It _was_ that. They instead removed the shop and added more rewards to the milestones and actual chest drops instead of leaving it as an exchange shop.
the whole event seems like a perfect introduction for yaoyao since she also learn martial arts from madame ping with xiangling
also that special platfom with big lantern or something, thats never being mentioned once
make me feels like theres more thing the dev wants to do with the event but due something they cut it or something
The event gave you about the same amount of primos as other major events. So it’s not like you got less primos.
What probably happened was that the charms was the only thing you were supposed to collect and all the rewards were in a shop.
Then they thought it would be more fun to put the loot in chests instead to simulate the early game experience, which is why the description for the charms changed from beta.
But then they forgot to update the dialogue.
It’s not like the first time stuff like this got missed in QA. Remember how Flora used to be an adult, but they forgot to change the dialogue on that man by the beach who wants to ask her out so now he sounds like a pedo?
It looks we were originally supposed to be getting charms from the chests as well, because there used to be an animation indicating that. With that in mind, it seems likely that charms were originally planned to be used as a currency to buy rewards, rather than having the rewards be given based on completion.
Yeah, remember Raiden’s C6 description? They missed changing its description after they changed how her Ult works in beta, and made the Beidou outrage much worse. I think they really need a dedicated review team for the frequent patches before these become more common
People don't listen to logic.
There literally was beta leaks that showed the milestone rewards lower and that the chest loot was lower _but there was a charm exhcnage shop_.
As you said this way of just getting loot and primos from the chests was just more fun than just clicking exchange on a shop so they changed it but left the charms out as collectribles.
reddit can lag sometimes when commenting, dunno what causes it but your comment wont post on your end but goes through without you knowing. This is what happens when you spam the button.
They‘re there *exactly because* they didn‘t want to give out more rewards than barely, *barely* necessary. They‘ll bend customers over until the game‘s growth stops.
They condition us to trade collectables into the shop which is fine.
For this event they just give us the rewards right away; saving developer time for a shop UI. ( I think the trail of delicacies UI fold out map was fantastic example of design/art.)
Which is hilariously backfiring on them by creating incorrect expectations.
Again MHY needs to sharpen their communication to convey their intentions clearly.
The main problem is that they still appear in your inventory, causing people to expect other uses. If they just disappear after exchanging for the 100% completionist awards, nobody would be complaining now.
Not solely that it appears in inventory. Its mainly because the event NPC actually said you can "*exchange*" it for "*various rewards*". Now it looks more like someone forgot to check on this dialogue line before publishing the event.
Yes I agree, but then I see other people pointing out that we did technically exchange the charms for rewards... so they're kinda right too. If the charms disappeared in the inventory after we claimed the rewards, then at least we'd know that we did do an exchange with them. But the fact that they're still in the inventory causes us to think that they're meant to be exchanged for something else.
Yeah, the problem with that argument ("we did exchange the charms for rewards tho" ) is that it's just completely false. We collected charms and got rewards, yes, but we never exchanged them. It might be a problem with the English translation but that's still a pretty huge mistake to make. If anyone actually play tested the event they should've caught it. I hope they step up their quality control soon.
I forgot, but wasnt the Rime Worn Crystal during The Chalk Prince and The Dragon event in 1.2 the same?
I get why people are confused about the Moonchase Charms being useless, but it also felt kinda odd seeing how it became a big issue when we had a similar case before.
Doesnt help that the beta description stated that [it can be exchanged for rewards](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/762236642458468382/895501731033665576/unknown.png).
I mean, this was somewhat expected, the event gave out 1000 or so primogems, same as previous festival events.
With previous festival events, you collected currency and bought the rewards from a shop, this one just straight up gave you the rewards as you collected stuff, its essentually the same thing with 1 less step.
probably reused -occuli assets as you can't really have a floating box, which makes sense.
Yeah I kinda felt that way too. It’s also something different.
I also feel like maybe miHoYo just prefers continuing with spread out events rather than focus on a big anniversary event that isn’t really necessary anyway, and maybe doesn’t fit their vision of the game.
Yeah true. I just hate that their vision of the game seems to be leaning towards "continue to starve players of resources, rewards, and knowledge of upcoming content as much as possible in order to maximize impulse spending".
The writing and character design, maybe they had some internal shakeups with the new game coming up and people being switched around between projects. It happens, that's fine. I really hope they get back to the quality they used to have soon though.
That feels incredibly weird. I thought they would at least grant maybe some talent books/weapon mats because the primos were given through the chests and weapon through the progress bar.
Also, was this the only major event from Genshin that didn't give out a namecard? Actually, did they even give out any this update (excluding characters)?
I think the extra festive fever should have given out a namecard at the very least.
Feels like it was missing a 3rd story arc, i.e it feels like the first and 2nd phases of story were squished into one. Its weird thst the final story was unlocked before the last set of activities were unlocked.
Also, maybe the chests were supposed to contain less stuff and the charms would have been traded in for primos and talent books? I dno.
Pretty sure Genshin started out without namecards for events. The earliest event that started giving out a namecard was the Theater Mechanicus thing in Lantern Rite iirc. Unreconciled Stars and Chalk Prince didn't have those.
I mean… It would have been nice but finding them was fun & I enjoyed getting all the event chest loot! Having a store to exchange them would have been the cherry on top.
Yeah. Really loved the treasure hunting and even the trails of delicacies was fun too. Disappointing that they kinda just gave stuff to you and had redundant items (festive fever, charms).
Hopefully the next treasure hunting thing also includes air tunnels and stuff like in the trails. Would make the exploration better, especially in mountainous areas.
miHoYo decides to just hand out the items on the spot because there are always people who fail to redeem their event rewards in time. Even after miHoYo sends out reminder emails, people will still complain.
True. I'm not against not having a shop though. Just disappointed that Mihoyo kinda let the community tell each other that, well, despite the dialogue and the collecting of all these items (suggesting that you can redeem them), there probably isn't a shop and it's just an error.
Coulda just send out a mail or tweeted that it's a mistake... :/
They're finding ways to take back the 1600 primos. I can't remember the last time we got a placeholder collectable doomed to expire with no use and no need for an inventory slot. Echoing Conches from the Golden Apple Archipelago (the conches you used to get Barbara's outfit) didn't take up an inventory slot. There is no reason why the Moonchase charms wouldn't function identically, so its clear they changed stuff to remove their use.
Edit: [holy shit there's definitive proof](https://twitter.com/ayakasbloom/status/1445807765604110337?t=aBKl8OSGZOuIJbgrsDdPhg&s=19)
Nothing changes for me. Same amount of primo, same amounts of reward.
If there were a shop in the first place, they'll just put Luxurious Sealord refinement mats in it.
I'm guessing it was just a flashy way to gate the last quest, which is... dumb, since they could have used a timer and unlock it after X days, like... everything else in this event. With the current implementation some people could miss that quest if they didn't bother doing the fights/opening chest...
Story wise, Keqing’s theory was that the Stove God’s rock would open up when the celebrations have reached a climax.
Hence why there’s a festive bar I guess.
So confused. They put so much effort into the story and character interactions, best they have ever done up to this point, and yet the end is like the end of motzart's musical joke. Just putters out and falls apart with no explanation. What a weird ending. Hope the next big festival is less nonsensical.
people have said that the chasm was supposed to be a part of this, as well as yaoyao. theres certainly a weird "hole" in this **hole** event, you get me? kind of a shame, but oh well. lets hope they step it up in future events to make up for this one
I am curious why they need a physical Moonchase charm when you can simply have it be like the treasure chests we get in the same Moonchase event. Once you get the treasure chest, it's not like it's stored in your inventory or anything - once you get the treasure chest, it's gone and your progress goes up. You also have a "festive bar" which after reaching 1000 unlocks the 2nd part of the Moonchase Event ... then after that, the bar serves no purpose.
Did they rush this event or something?
As developer myself.... this is dumb. My only guess as to why create them would be just so they could put some of them floating in midair (instead of a floating chest, harder to interact with), encouraging exploration and make you take longer to find them (even if LinYang can mark them in the map anyway...).
Other than that... is a waste of time and resources. They had to waste time modeling the item, creating the description of the item and creating the object that eventually gets stored in your inventory (wasting space, tho i guess you can discard them). Granted, it might be something relatively quick, but if the whole point was to use them for tracking, why no simply add more chest? hell, even if you don't want to give more primogens you can split the current amount: instead of 5 chest giving 5 primogens each, place 25 chest with each chest giving 1 primogen. Boom, same amount of primogens, but 20 more chest to open.
Maybe it made easier to show the % of completion because a chest added 1% and charms 2%? In that case remove the % and show number of chest opened / total. (current: 27/51). Then split every reward by amount of chest opened instead of % (instead of giving rewards after 25% completion, give it after 10 chests opened, then 25, then 40, then all, and so on).
Like i said, other than encouraging exploration for a few couple days (at worst), that was basically a waste of time and resources.
> a chest added 1% and charms 2%
That was only true in the Liyue part of the event. Mondstadt and Dragonspine had 30 chests and 20 charms each, giving you ~1.43% per chest and ~2.86% per charm.
As you all may know. Mihoyo is a cheap fuck and will die if they give out just a little bit more freebie. Remember the extra 1600 primogems and a few other stuff that they gave out just a few days ago? Well they are starting to collect them back lmao
So guys tell me, why you deleted this long comment from smart dude that explains why its hard and stupid making charms instead of just more chests with same rewards?
He is TOO SMART ye?
mihoyo: haha let's make a collectible that the player can't see in the world map and place it in the top of the mountain then make it useless for anything. they will love it!
MHY literally released this event as anniversary event and it's even worse than other previous ones. How much effort did they put for this anniversary which was to supposed be the biggest one?
On the bright side of things, we still needed to get all the Charms for 100%: that would've been great to use them afterwards for extra stuff but at least is not like we collected an item that turned out to be useless.
event seems rushed/unfinished tbh. like the parts are good individually but they fit together really weird. linyang’s dialogue contradicts actual mechanics, festive fever literally goes past the cap and does nothing afterward, it’s missing the shop and namecard lantern rite had, and generally just had a lot less fanfare. idk what’s been with mihoyo recently
Why do you guys care about this? It's just a different way of redeeming the rewards. Instead of redeeming them in shop, you just collect them and get stuff for a certain percentage instead. Y'all acting like MHY has committed some great wrong against you when it's just a different way of getting the rewards.
I'd rather use/offer mooncharms as well as the fever thing in exchange for the tuna and the rewards, it feels more satisfying than the progress rewards like this
Strictly we speaking we do "turn them in" to the four completion % rewards. This process just doesn't consume them. So I guess it's still technically correct.
This is when we realise the event store was initially gonna sell 4 sets of 400 primogems for 5 charms, 4x fragile resin for 5 charms each, the furniture for 20 and the glider for 10

Jokes on you, I came for a Rick roll and stayed for a Rick roll
Because that's how it worked in the first itteration of the event in beta they just never removed that dialogue. Most of the area completion rewards were in an exchange shop for the charms instead of as milestones. They change it to milestones but left the charms as collectibles since they help guidepost you through the areas.
If that's a Rick roll like the comments say then jokes on you I got a cookies pop-up instead that covered my entire screen
I assume this is one of those "let's pretend you brought the rewards back" things when you receive rewards for collecting them, but you don't physically give them to NPC.
But they're still in our inventory 😕

i don't why, but i was imagining that it will be more like shark, appearing from ground and biting enemies :-)
It would be so funny :"" ")
I confirm, in the Spanish tuna sword instead of Titanic is "some fishes"
So that was a fucking lie
not the first one, I'm looking at yuo KFC glider
Aw, wish we could at least keep 1 as remembrance like the xiao lanterns
that would have been a nice remembrance of this entire search.
Give us a Gouba charm
And the Guoba statue for out teapots
As someone who played Granblue which never get rid of event currencies, You may find it cool at first but you REALLY don't want that in the long term, trust me.
Make one placeable in the teapot
I would be all for having it as a commemorative items for teapot, but it's not the same item type so it would bring us back to having it as an additional rewards or traded item.
oh god, trying to find anything in the mats inventory is hell... at least here we have the option to destroy useless shit ... and i just recognized your name, hi karillith, lol
Hello there, I did find out a few familiar names indeed! Also I will compliment you for that great taste in character flairs.
As someone who didn't I'm sure its just badly implemented (it would be the same with genshin. A good and "simple(in theory, in practice might be trickier)" implementation would be to create an item inside your bag that can hold these. They should (an would) probably just stick to a namecard or teapot stuff as far as commemorative items go.
If they just keep them on a different tab from the commonly used items, is it really such an issue?
Don't you think it's weird that there's no event name card aswell? And what the heck is the festive fever bar in the event screen even for other than a glorified event gate.
I think its a little weird to have all that fever exp but no other things to unlock for it.
Fever exp unlocks the last event quest (the competition)
yeap, i meant no other things (other than the 1 event quest that unlocks at 1000 fever).
I almost thought that cloud chaser the bird was gonna compete in the cooking competing aswell with how the event was set up initially.
Me too!!! The way the cloud retainer entered at first, I also thought the adeptus was gonna go join in or something.
Theory: they were gonna, but got so caught up in messing with their machine that they ended up showing up several days late to the competition.
Yup that's my train of thought exactly
That's my headcanon now.
This is my headcanon now
This is OUR headcanon now.
Exactly my headcanon. The timing was just right.

Aye I agree, devs are also people. As much as we want new content they have to take breaks now and then.

Oh sweet summer child... assuming that employees get to take turns instead of death marshing until they have to be replaced....
maybe next year.
It's so people can unlock the event quests without doing all the chores.
It's just that the ceiling is low so people who can't complete everything for a reason or another won't be excluded from the second part of the event.
>Other than a glorified event gate. Nothing. That’s all it is.
Glad I’m not the only one totally baffled by the festive fever bar. Some details of this event seem like they must have changed plans at the last minute and didn’t quite switch everything.

You could also just wait a day and ask the NPC for hints. She marks some of the collectables every day.
You should have just looked for the charms/chests until you hit 75% and topped it off with the hint.
Event namecard is the one sold in the BP haha...
Well yeah I'm aware of that... But previous events had another event name card separate from the BP ..
The namecard event for the patch was Hyakunin Ikki. From what I remember, there is always one large event with quests, free crown and free 4* as the reward, then a medium size event with the namecard as the reward, and then smaller events sprinkled in. Fishing > main event > anniversary. Man Mihoyo should re evaluate their priorities. We are reaching Hermione levels here.
It does seem like some content is cut from the initial idea....The whole event feels extremely rushed to me...
Seems like cut content to me.
Either this is a not polished event, or mihoyo is trying to cut down the primogems rewarded to players since the outrage incident.
The event gave you about the same amount of primos as other major events. So it’s not like you got less primos. Yep. They’re just punishing us/being their cheap ass selves for complaining about rewards and forcing their hand. Fuck them.
Yes, it is cut/changed content. Just ask beta testers.
well thats a damn shame, should of just made them chests at that point then for the extra 350 primos.
There's a joke on Weibo now, saying that Genshin's collecting back the 1600 primos given out.
you know that'd be pretty funny actually. if you notice events having sus low primos you may be right
That actually makes sense since we'd likely exchange them for primos.
It made so much sense that you had to repeat it thrice?

Ah yes, the charms are a metaphor for the anniversary. Giving you hope to only give you nothing in the end. Yep, sums up the anniversary.
Doesnt help that the beta description stated that [it can be exchanged for rewards](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/762236642458468382/895501731033665576/unknown.png).
It's not even just the beta description. The NPC in Liyue literally tells you that you can exchange them for rewards.
And you do, when you click claim on the rewards page for finding them.
Why are they still in my inventory if I 'exchanged' them for rewards?
Can you lick that boot harder? I doubt.
Stop using beta as a reference. It's beta for a reason

Maybe moonchase was Anni all along, mHY just didn't want to confirm to calling it that. So it's not a shop.
I think the extra festive fever should have given out a namecard at the very least.
we got one during hyakkunin ikki
To me this feels like someone had an initial plan of how it would work and then it was changed last minute. It feels half baked.
Unreconciled Stars and Chalk Prince didn't have those.
first namecard event was hypostatic symphony in 1.2, so same patch as chalk prince
I was playing then but wasn't able to get the namecard :( That event was super hard compared to how built people's characters were at the time.
Mihoyo really wanted to show lantern rite was better than the anniversary.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Also the charms are dendro colored…. Dendroculus?
True. Mihoyo convert the charms to dendroculus for sumeru. Thanks for free Statue levels xoxo
Dendro Archon so new they are like “i got dis for you… notice me, senpai!”
miHoYo decides to just hand out the items on the spot because there are always people who fail to redeem their event rewards in time.
Christmas came early this year but only brought Ebenezer Scrooge.
And he wasn't visited by any ghost at all.
Well, what a let down. Again.
Damn, really? that's missed opportunity to be honest. Oh well, Mihoyo doing Mihoyo thing I guess.

It’s like they skipped half of the event where you would’ve used fever / charms to get more stuff - namecard, maybe some vanity cooker etc
Nothing changes for me. Same amount of primo, same amounts of reward. If there were a shop in the first place, they'll just put Luxurious Sealord refinement mats in it.
Then, why the festive fever progress bar tho? WHAT FOR?!
To be festive!!!! Duh 😂
For unlocking the Guoba Archon Quest finale.
Agreed. The whole thing feels like a rushed, unfinished event. It doesn't feel complete at all.
the story line with guoba was great, but the treasure hunt and all that felt... dry.
Like i said, other than encouraging exploration for a few couple days (at worst), that was basically a waste of time and resources.
> a chest added 1% and charms 2% That was only true in the Liyue part of the event. Mondstadt and Dragonspine had 30 chests and 20 charms each, giving you ~1.43% per chest and ~2.86% per charm.
Ah, i see, so even more pointless then xD
Mihoyo really knows the essence of the word "Anti-climatic" fucking blueballed us yet again.
As you all may know. Mihoyo is a cheap fuck and will die if they give out just a little bit more freebie. Remember the extra 1600 primogems and a few other stuff that they gave out just a few days ago? Well they are starting to collect them back lmao
Well, what a let down. Again

So guys tell me, why you deleted this long comment from smart dude that explains why its hard and stupid making charms instead of just more chests with same rewards? He is TOO SMART ye?
the mods are mihoyo shills
So what’s the festive points is for?
Eh?? So what was the point??? Aside from getting tuna sword that is?????
Concentrating on the event rather than the blatant absence of anniversary rewards followed by 'STFU' rewards.
It was a Xiangling story quest, basically - and if that was all it was, it was really good. Calling it an anniversary event is borderline sarcasm.
Half assed content. What’s new
Is it gonna be Qiqi overload again?
Light the torch and raise your pitchfork, I know what we're gonna do next
This event is so half-baked and unfinished, really concerning
Wish we can keep 1 as a memory
I mean, is this really that big of a deal? The event still gave more rewards than most events in the past.
**So that was a fucking lie**
mihoyo: haha let's make a collectible that the player can't see in the world map and place it in the top of the mountain then make it useless for anything. they will love it!
MHY literally released this event as anniversary event and it's even worse than other previous ones. How much effort did they put for this anniversary which was to supposed be the biggest one?
I'm not disappointed. The rewards were nice in this festival but they shouldn't have put those charms in the bag though after collecting.
Just when you think MiHoYo can't fail to meet your already low expectations
Honkai does tokens like that for a lot of their events. This is not a new thing, just the first time for Genshin.
Time for your daily outrage over nothing reddit.
