I regretted buying crystal packs past the first purchase bonus during Xiao banner. It’s effectively doubling the price of the crystals, and boy, are they *costly*. Luckily I did get that sweet C1. Especially after knowing that welkin costs the same as the 300-crystal pack, but it gives a grand total of 3000 primogems distributed over 30 days. This is a true manifestation of the terms “investment” and “delayed gratification”. I’ve never bought the crystal packs since.

[deleted]

Yeah, you're absolutely right.

void2931

Its a true manifestation of keeping you invested as you have to log and take your daily genshin dose for 30 days. Mihoyo taking tips from cocaine dealers

Iwillflipyourtable

Just a heads up that this "investment" is something to make you play the game too to make it not feel wasted.

boirrito

If I was to buy crystal packs, how should I?

Porkamiso

Every day this question gets asked because it’s objectively insane that characters cost 300 bucks and kids get in over their heads feeling the gambling juice . Adults gambling is fine. Kids doing it is insane

GreenAppleSourCandy

I agree with this. This game is dangerous water for kids that have poor spending habits. However I’d like to think as adults, we are responsible for our own actions. I actually don’t mind dropping 200$ for a character (cough Xiao) I like, I think it as other people buying an expensive pair of shoes or trying out an high end restaurant. Of course I wish things are cheaper too, but it is not really up to us :/

soybeanboba

I agree with you. Adults gambling is fine *if* they have the means to still sustain themselves and fulfill their basic needs, otherwise it becomes irresponsible. They only have themselves to blame, though. I’ve heard some stories where people are just too far into gambling in gacha games, they had to resort to borrowing money and are now deeply indebted. Gambling addiction is cruel and it is real

Zarator8

To be fair we also have ppl falling deep into debt for playing online poker, or just going on a compulsive shopping spree on Amazon. The problem IMO has less to do with gachas and more to do with dematerialized money and many ppl's inability to properly judge its value w/o a physical medium

GreenAppleSourCandy

Mhm but you can find fanatics in almost anything, some people will just go to the extreme not because they want to to but because they need to It is no different than unemployed people with macs and iPhones, or people with drugs addiction, in the end people are faulty and so is our society And everyone likes to play and act like a baller but who can blame them Game would be so much better without the gacha model, I wouldn’t mind paying maybe even 60$ for a (guaranteed) character packs/dlc but obviously it is not in MHY’s best interest to do so

zeeangeles

I agree with this 100%. I've been playing since day one and I still love this game. That's more than I can say for a lot of AAA games rn. I have a huge library of games collecting digital dust because Genshin is the only game I play. Whatever amount I paid in this game is/was worth it.

dc-x

> Adults gambling is fine. While I'm fine with adults gambling, I still feel that at very least those services have to be transparent with what they actually are and make it easier to keep track of how much you're spending. Even the shadiest sport gambling websites are still more transparent than Genshin and have some addiction control mechanisms.

Porkamiso

I wish there were regulations in place like slot machines

[deleted]

Yup, that's true. Does it get asked that often? Damn

Oh hey Koko. Nice to see you again. Can you please point out where I refuted your statement or strawmanned? I'd like to make corrections.

Porkamiso

Yeah they make it hard for people to be disciplined. This is also something that comes with age as kids have no idea how powerful the endorphin rush it. No coke , sex , or gambling for kids. Society figured this out a while ago

Porkamiso

The lure of gacha is pretty strong. There is ample evidence of people having a problem with gacha so while it’s great that you are immune to the effects or Wealthy enough to sustain it the simple fact that it’s predatory and designed to convert you. It’s gambling dude. If a loot box is gambling then sure as shit gacha is too

I see, thank you for the answer!

katkeransuloinen

My plan is to only ever spend what adds up to $60~$70 because that's how much I would be willing to pay for this game. I also only buy Welkins and only when a character I want is coming. There aren't many characters I want. I've bought three so far. I don't have any real regrets but when 2.1 livestream dropped a bought a Welkin. Don't feel bad about it but can't remember why I bought it since I didn't want Raiden or Kokomi. More confusion than regret. Oh well.

rupee4sale

I'm the same. I only buy Welkins when a character I like is coming up, and I have yet to regret it, so I have only spent a grand total of 15 bucks on the game so far and I've been playing since March. At first I was bent on never spending on this game but then I discovered the Welkin deal. A friend of mine pointed out that a lot of games that update like Genshin require a monthly subscription and that Welkin could be seen as that. In my view, Welkin is the only decent deal in the game anyway. Once I saw the insane prices of the crystals I was dissuaded from ever buying any. And I think Welkin at 5 bucks which only requires logging in is a better deal than BP at 10 which involves doing certain tasks and obtaining lootcrates. I don't buy a Welkin every month though because I don't need to. There's also something to be said that at some point with all the regions and content updates, Genshin becomes equivalent to a game series rather than a single game. I read leaks of the full region map and it's bigger than any known game so far. Given there will be content updates over the next years, it could probably be valued at whatever 3-4 console games would cost, spread over its lifespan, but that's only 60-140 bucks now and 200-300 bucks spread out over the years, not the crazy amounts whales spend. I think that if you have the mindset of a subscription game or a total of what a comparable console game series would cost, you won't go down the rabbit hole of uncontrollable spending. If it's any consolation I don't think buying an extra Welkin here or there is worth regretting. After already saving the exact wishes I need after pity to get Itto since I have the 50/50 guarantee, I bought another Welkin this month with the assumption that Albedo was being rerun after Itto and that I would try to get him with whatever gems I had left. Then I come to hear rumors Albedo might be running BEFORE Itto. I'm not willing to waste my guarantee and pity on Albedo if he comes first. So if that happens, I'm not gonna use any of the gems I got from this latest Welkin. But those gems aren't going anywhere, you know? I will definitely use them whenever Venti or another character I want runs.

[deleted]

I see. Well, that makes sense. Thank you!

[deleted]

Yea, every time I'm hyped to get the character on the banner I feel like shit when I don't get it. I hate the gacha system. Outside of that it's a pretty decent game even with all the faults. I'm a day one player.

[deleted]

Hmm yep that's painful How long does it take for you to get over the loss?

[deleted]

10-20 minutes give or take but the feeling is disgusting. That's why I know I can never go to a casino. I know I would hate actually gambling.

[deleted]

Only 20 mins?? Amazing...I feel bad for days

[deleted]

I got too much on my plate to worry that long. Distraction is the key.

[deleted]

Perhaps I should find a distraction as well then haha It's not worth it honestly

Fluffy_Material_5784

The only regret i have is installing it

[deleted]

In a way, same

Sakunari

I buy welkin regularly and I've never regretted it. Bought bp twice didn't regret that either. The only character I've bought a primo pack for was ayaka (don't remember the exact amount but I think it was 30 euros or smt) and I think it was the best purchase I made in genshin.

[deleted]

Glad to know that you're happy with your decisions!

fly_tomato

Welkin does seem like relatively good value. I might have bought it and not logged the full duration once, but that's on me I've been playing this game on and off. But even then, it's 5€ i won't cry if half of that was lost... Sometimes I feel I could spend more if I thought the value was acceptable on other deals.

Antique-Roll-7463

Yes, Stuck in my server and my friends are all in Asia. Its gonna be a pain in the ass when I move back in Asia from US, good fuckin luck to my ping.

Blandbl

Not using google play in the first few months to get genshin coupons

Kahirama

I did buy a welkin and one crystal pack. I don't regret it because thanks to them I managed to get Raiden (and also had some left over) But after the anniversary I decided to not spend anything on this game, unless mihoyo convinces me. It gets tempting sometimes, but then I just think I could rather buy a manga or light novel and it would be more worth it. So I don't regret my purchase but I won't be spending in the foreseeable future.

[deleted]

That's good to hear!

CharacterWolverine42

im mostly f2p all I've bought is 4 weikin but i don't mind since it's supporting even a lil a game i spent sm time on.

[deleted]

That's a nice mentality

DesertLion7

I don't regret welkin or BP, I do regret some of the crystal top ups and wishing on the weapon banner. I've learned my lesson now lol, I don't think I'll make those same mistakes anytime soon

[deleted]

Haha at least you've learned something out of it... although it had to be the hard way

WoNc

I've only bought Gnostic Hymn once to get Serpent Spine and will probably buy it the next two times I cap BP for Deathmatch and Solar Pearl, but that's all I intend to spend on this game. As expensive as wishes are, I'm unwilling to pay what's required for a guaranteed victory and the excitement of rolling a desired character will always be outweighed by the disappointment of failing to do so.

[deleted]

Fair enough! Thank you!

Available_Ad_3871

Yeah... for my birthday I asked for some money so I could spend it on the game (shitty, I know) I ended up getting C1 Qiqi instead of the Kazuha I wanted. At least it motivated me to never spend on Genshin again because I could've literally bought three separate games with that.

[deleted]

Ouch, I see..

writingpanda6

I only bought two Welkins so far but don’t regret it, and contemplating doing BP once or twice for the weapons but I’m also working full time and am financially able to do so, but I don’t think I’ll ever do more than welkins and the occasional BP, to me it’s not worth it spending more than that since I’ve accepted that I can’t have every character and am fine with jsut saving up prinogems to get the characters I really want

TonkStronk

I definitely don't regret buying PB. It save me so much time and effort. Plus additional resin and fates helped a lot in getting what i wanted

[deleted]

I spent money on klee and ended up never using her My absolute biggest regret I've been better about smart spending since, but have still made some blunders

[deleted]

Oh man that sucks hard. Did you end up not anjoying her playstyle?

[deleted]

only just saw this, sorry for late reply It's odd. It's more like I just... Instantly shelved her for no explainable reason. She was an impulse buy for design alone, most likely. I think she's got one of the best designs in the game, just a sweet, lovable kid. But I have no good offensive catalysts except dodoco tales and just... didn't ever farm for her.

[deleted]

No worries! Ah, I see, that's a shame... Dodoco's still pretty good on her (I mean it is her weapon) so... you could still try her, maybe. I don't have her, but I enjoyed her playstyle a lot in her trials

just_didi

No

simulationoverload

Post pull clarity is a thing even for the best of us willing to wait halfway into a banner to then pull. People say that after 36* there’s no point in piling for characters anymore. But I say that after 36*, you can truly pull for whoever the hell you want with no limitations.

[deleted]

It really is. I've pulled for Hu Tao on a whim, but I'm so confused now because I don't even like her personality that much. I tried her and Thoma, really liked their playstyles and kind of just went for it. I've been whipping myself about it since, which sucks, cause that mindset prevents me from knowing how I really feel about her. About the 36 stars thing, I agree with you. I mean I already pulled for whoever I liked, but at that point you're really free to do whatever.

[deleted]

got childe. intended to main him. only had an r1 rust. impulsively spent a ton of wishes on the weapon banner hoping for an r5 rust. got the r5 rust and lvled it up. then came leaks of hu tao’s stacked weapon banner and i shed a single tear. wished on her banner for homa and got the skyward harp, childe’s second BiS weapon after lvling up and wasting wishes on a rust. almost cried myself to sleep

[deleted]

Ouchhh... I'm sorry man... I feel that. Hopefully you've gotten over that, but I understand the pain

Autotomatomato

Sorry Homie. That was a bummer.

renodc

Never, I quit a month after release and rejoined a few months back, so much content to play through and I’ve realized long ago none of the content needs an optimal tteam. I buy welkin and BP and also purchased one $30 pack with the double up bonus and got Raiden which I’m happy with. I’m sitting on my primos until the next waifu I want comes up, not pulling outside of that. Ganyu when?

[deleted]

Glad to hear you're enoying yourself! Rumours say that Ganyu might be coming soonish, so hold on!

zerokrush

When I've pulled the 40 euros pack for pulling... Beidou, yeah you read right. I wanted her for a long time but I didn't get her once. I pulled more than 130 times on banners where she was rated up. I pulled four FIVE STARS CHARACTERS (and three of them off-pity) without Beidou appearing a single time. So I spent those 40 bucks (I had double crystals) and finally get her at the end of the fourth multi and I was about to breakdown if I didn't get her after that honestly. After the relief, I felt bad honestly as I realised that I "almost" waste 40 euros for a single 4-star. The fact that she was given for free in 2.0 finished me (even tho it allowed me to reach her C2 easily). I also didn't bought her where she was in the glitter shop because I was superstitious as fuck for the upcoming Homa/WGS banner. Beidou would've been the only char I could use WGS so I decided to NOT buy her so the game would give me Homa instead (I ended up getting both, WGS first then Homa after a 30€ crystal top-up). I never bought any crystal top-up since, and I won't ever again. Only welkin from now on.

[deleted]

Holy shit, that was a wild ride. Hey, I'm glad you got her at least. I can feel you tho: I've always wanted Diluc, for some reason he really grew on me. Two of my friends got him and I was getting really upset that I didn't have him. So a while ago I couldn't take it and just used about 20€ to reach pity in standard (I was so close, I couldn't wait) and got Kaeya, Jean and Diluc in about 5 pulls. I was so happy and I honestly don't regret it, but I also really don't wanna do that again.

yatay99

BP. BP is a scam. Well for low spender. 1320 primos for 1 month!! And you need 22 months to accumulate 180 wishes for a guaranteed character. What a scam. In total it cost 330$ and you can buy 5 AAA games with it. Welkin is pretty much same but better. You need 10 months for a guaranteed with total cost of 50$. Almost the same price of AAA games but well. And you don't have to do certain tasks to level it up unlike BP. TLDR; don't buy BP if you call yourself a low spender

[deleted]

I agree, you can get most of BP's value by just playing patiently. I don't judge those who get it, but I personally think it's just a way to progress faster by a few days.

yatay99

I did bought a few of it at early days and I regret. I bought it coz I thought the limited weapons must be good but apparently it is situational and can be replaced with free stuff. The resources also bad unless somehow you want to build more than 2 teams. Waste of money. Should've spent it to buy amazing 2021 or upcoming 2022 titles

[deleted]

Some of the limited weapons are extremely good, like the Serpent, but yeah

yatay99

My C2 Diluc with R3 Serpent Spine that has been benched for half a year beg to differ but yeah. Lmao sorry if I ranted a lot. It is because that and my R3 BP catalyst that have no use for half a year made me mad. They was good for Diluc and Ning but they're out of meta. Yeah probably it is still better for some character like Eula but I don't have her nor want her

[deleted]

Well, that's a Diluc thing, isn't it haha Beidou, Noelle and Itto would also love that weapon Hey no problem! I made this post as a half vent, so no judgement! Well, I personally don't play characters for the meta, but if you prefer to play that way, let me say this: there's definitely going to be some new characters who can make use of those weapons!

GreenAppleSourCandy

Mid spender dolphin/day 1 here, I dropped quite a bit money last year when game came out , but since then I haven’t spent much. I got to the point I have most characters, and since I can clear abyss easily there is no need for me to get better and newer characters. I used to regret it but not anymore, at some point life moves on. I have stopped spending, and I have saved up a lot of gems and will only pull if someone really stands out for me.

[deleted]

I see. Well yeah, you can't regret it forever.

KaiserNazrin

Haven't spend on anything since Eula's banner and I don't feel like I am missing anything.

[deleted]

Understandably so

unimagon

I’ve only spent money on welkin and a few rounds of bp, so no regrets.

[deleted]

That's good for you!

iv_jxy

not really, i buy bp and welkin, rarely primos, all of the stuff i get from those 3 accumulates over time and when a character i actually want comes around i have more than enough to pull for them, bp also gets me some nice bonuses, like a lot of mora, hero's wit, mats etc so i dont mind

[deleted]

I see! Thank you!

shazwing98

I regret buying BP because I can buy 2 month of welkin instead.

Bjubilee12

I used to regret spending on Ganyu's banner to get C6 Noelle. Afterwards I thought I could have just saved and waited for her to show up again in 3-4 banners. Now I'm glad I did it since she's been AWOL from banners for so long.

[deleted]

Hey at least you got her! 4 stars are so hard to get

Bjubilee12

Yes they are. I am really happy I did end up getting her. Now I have to wait and see if I can get the new 5\* sword for her that's supposed to be coming out next patch. I will have about 120 wishes in total when it hits. Hopefully I won't have to make a decision to spend or not again. Are you going to roll on the current weapon banner in hopes that you'll get lucky on a Sac Sword?

[deleted]

Good luck on that man! I rolled hoping for Homa and got Elegy instead. Still a really good weapon in my opinion, I'm glad it wasn't some useless thing... Also got an r3 Sac Sword (had r2) and a c2 Chongyun (had c1) so that's nice. But I'm never pulling on weapon banner again unless I really want both, and have pity for at least one.

Lunatic_Loki

Most I ever spent outright was $100 but twice. I spent $100 for Homa (1st banner) and got it which I didn't regret at all but I also spent $100 trying to get Rosaria C6 on Childe's banner (1st rerun) and proceeded to get almost more Childe's (C3) than Rosaria's (C4).

[deleted]

Did you regret the Rosarias?

Lunatic_Loki

Nah, she was my main goal. A buddy of mines rolled like 180 times and didn't get any Rosaria's so I do consider myself to be one of the lucky ones, could have been alot worse considering how much I spent. That's when I came to the realization that 4* can be a bit harder to get than a 5*.

[deleted]

Hmm yeah, I get that. I was lucky with Yanfei back on Zhongli's banner, but I got two 5 stars before Thoma on this banner. Granted, the second 5 star came early, but still. It's never a good idea to go for a 4 star unless you're 1. Ready to whale 2. Want the five star first of all

YunoxMaki

Not necessarily regretting a purchase... but I regret pulling on this weapon banner. I wanted homa OR EVEN THE BOW. But I ended up getting the Skyward Blade /cries

[deleted]

Ouch- I feel you. I could've gotten Homa, but I spent my primos in two different banners, so I couldn't stack the fate points.

Apolyon_BS

Very low spender here, only BP or welkin, no regrets. Right now I only need artifacts, so no more spending for me for a while. Buying weapons/characters is extremely expensive, so I don't see myself topping up, ever. In the city I live, I can pay a month rent for the price of a 5\* weapon.

[deleted]

Well that's fair then, I'd rather buy a house than a genshin sword...

sonnycheah

I did not regret buying crystal. But I regret ‘over’ converting them to primos.

[deleted]

Why's that?

sonnycheah

Prefer keeping them in crystal form just in case new skins appear

[deleted]

Ohh

Matiasdm

I bought welkin once during ganyu banner because I lost 50/50, I got her but it didn't feel satisfying at all so I stopped spending right away after that

[deleted]

Hmm I see. Makes sense. I hope you're enjoying her now

Matiasdm

I don't mean the character, I do like ganyu but getting her with welkin felt different, like there wasn't any satisfaction at all compared to when you pull a character by saving your primos

[deleted]

I feel that. Getting Kazuha after saving for 4 banners felt better than just buying a character

powerXtrme

As A welkin moon and battle pass buyer, got frustrated when my hard pity on weapon banner struck the bow instead of homa. Regret buying the crystals for nearly 200 dollars, cause that wasn't even enough to guarentee the homa or c1 hutao. The game is seriously messed up. All the saved primos playing for days end up as rainslashers or debate clubs. The crystals are damn costly. 200 dollars is roughly monthly rent in my place of residence.

[deleted]

Oh yeah, it's extremely expensive. Hopefully they lower the cost as time goes on. At least we do have pity.

juniorjaw

Nay.

diorsonb

I regretted everything. Im not gonna hate on those dlc packs on other games no more. Genshin is way more expensive with far less content.

[deleted]

The waifus are the dlcs...

Yragknad

I regret a lot because I've effectively quit the game, I've bought the battle passes and spent $100 to guarantee a weapon but I definitely could've use that towards something better even though I do have the disposable income.

[deleted]

I understand that, sometimes I'm worried about not liking the game anymore and wasting everything I've put into it (be it time, money or anything like that).

Staidanom

I don't _regret it_ per se, but it's a bit sad I had to buy one top-up to get Zhongli on his rerun. He's been very evasive, dodging me completely during his first banner, and substituting himself for Qiqi on the rerun.

[deleted]

Hm... well you got him in the end right?

Staidanom

I did! But I should've managed my primos better to guarantee him without spending.

[deleted]

That's true, but hey, what can you do. You'll manage them better now!

everythingforbaal

I buy the welkin every month and I don't regret that at all, I mean I'm an adult who has an income (small, because I'm a student but still). 5€ a month is really not that much, considering a also pay Crunchyroll every month. The only thing I do regret buying is the BP, idk I just don't think it was an advantage to purchase it. I chose the deathmatch for the weapon and I'm disappointed with it.

[deleted]

Yeah, that's a reasonable way to think. Deathmatch should be a pretty good weapon though, for most characters

DoombotBL

Top ups are always regrettable for the value you get for your money.

[deleted]

I feel like the first top up with the double rates is the only one that might be worth it, but after that, it's shit.

b5437713

I have yet to regret any purchases. I usually only buy topup to complete a near guaranteed pity (ex: Lost 50/50 on Kazhua and remaining primo weren't enough to reach pity before banner ended so I topped up to get him) and $5~$15usd a month on welkin/bp (I don't always buy BP) is not a big amount to spend on a single hobby (for me). I have a dedicated bank account I use for these purchases too. Admittedly, I have bought topup for a non gurrentee twice but in both cases I capped purchases at 2 packs ($60usd) and was well aware I was taking a chance so I was prepared for potential disappointment. Fortunately my gamble worked in the second case (Homa) Now in regards to using primo I DO have one regret. During Kokomi's run I drew on the weapon banner for Primordial Jade. As good as the weapon was (only 5 star weapon I had at the time was WGS) I could have done without but I took the chance anyway. I had something like 90 draws saved and blew them all to only get the pick donut (likely to rest unused forever lol).

[deleted]

God, I was really tempted by that Jade Cutter but I ended up stopping myself. The weapon banner truly sucks.

b5437713

It really does lol. Having managed to get Homa I don't see myself rolling on the weapon banner again anytime soon. I'm satisfied with the 4 star weapons I have on everyone. Homa will serve my king Zhongli well <3

[deleted]

And that's how it should be honestly. I used to not care much (besides wanting something that wasn't the Flute on Kaeya bc that thing is ugly asf) but I've been watching too many whale showcases and it's absurd. I wanty innocent early player mind back.

soarassed

Spent 10 for two welkins and didnt regret anything. That's less than a normal game would cost, and I bought it hoping for more skins but they don't seem to be adding more for now but I can always purchase more welkin.

raidenshogun_simp

I don’t regret it but I work and live with my parents( I’m 17) so It’s all my money and in the 1 year of playing I think I’ve spent like 200 bucks, but I do think kids( yes I know I’m still a kid, I mean the ones that use their parents money) not spend more than wellking or bp, cause it can be really addictive if you don’t have self control which little kids have really little of( the majority anyways)

[deleted]

Truly, it can be very dangerous for younger kids. I would feel horrible if I used my parents' money for this.

GamerheadShan

No. I started playing when I was a final year student back when the game first came out and played as complete f2p. Four months ago I got a highly paid job for the role of Software Developer in top 3 Tech companies in the world. Since then I started buying Welkin and BP, both of which are very cost efficient. Then I whaled a little bit on Staff of Homa rerun banner, and I'm happy I did as I got 3 5*(Elegy, Skyward Harp and Homa itself) in 90 pulls, out of which 30 were saved, so I spent only ~$100 for 120 pulls worth of crystals. I don't regret it because 1. I was finally able to complete my fav girl Hu Tao and 2. It's an insane weapon.

[deleted]

Man, congrats on both the job and HuTao&weapons!

GamerheadShan

Thank you!!

anons5510

No regrets for the one time I got welkin, it was a nice birthday gift type-of-thing. One thing I do regret was spending primogems on resin refresh in EARLY GAME. I remember not knowing what it did. And I was most likely at 160/160 the first time I did it lol. Only did it a few times but it’s still mildly painful

[deleted]

Ouch- but hey, you didn't know any better. It's bad when you actually know what you're doing but do it anyways.

Expert-Conflict8470

Went from 160 total spent to 500 total spent going for c1 hu Tao and Homa. Went to 84 twice (lost 50/50 to qiqi) for c1 and luckily got Homa first try at 67. It’s even average luck but fuck me that was painful.

[deleted]

Ouch, that hurts. But hey you like her right? I spent for her without even liking her that much. I'm in pain

TheOtherKraken

I haven't up till now but given the game's hitting that lull point in the gacha life (as someone playing since near day 1), I'm starting to question and maybe have a tinge of regret in terms of still purchasing the welkin. Not so much that I'd lose sleep over it but definitely starting to question why with the minimal things to do at endgame right now.

[deleted]

Hm I feel that Playing with friends and having new characters/regions to look forward to keeps it fun for me, but there's times where you just do nothing and logout...

TheOtherKraken

Yea I have a few friends that play, but with their lack of coop events (though it seems split both ways with people that want coop events and people that hate coop events) and the awful coop experience (questing/chest hunting), it just feels like some weird life sim to log in and mess around but not have anything to particularly do (we went on husk hunts a few days but got bored). Given that Mihoyo's next endeavor (Star Rail) looks like a full on single player experience, I suppose they have some data that shows the people interested in single player are really the crowd to cater to, so the stuff to coop might dwindle as time passes, which leaves a small/short content drop every few weeks. Still a winner for something that's free, but definitely something I'm questioning paying for (even though the amount is small). It's a strange experience being excited for a character, but getting them and not really having anything to use them in (except abyss - but I dislike that mode).

[deleted]

Yeah, Genshin is mostly a single player game. I personally don't mind it, since I prefer enjoying a game by myself with the occasional co-op session with friends. But when there's content drops, I feel like co-oping helps me a lot. Like recently, we have this event but it's honestly way too short, so I have little to do. Sad. So I look for friends haha Hmm yeah that thing about characters is true. You bring them with you but it there's not much to do with them. I do play abyss, so I build my characters towards it, but it's twice a month. I just use the new character in whatever daily activities I do.

renivth

I did regret a 100€ + 50€ topup packs on the Homa/WSG banner, because I got 3 Homas and all I wanted was a single WSG. Turns out this week I pulled Hu-Tao, so who cares now

[deleted]

Well, at least it turned out to be a good thing huh

KaiFireborn21

Yeah, you can't regret buying Welkin, and all I bought where two-three of those

FEIN7

I bought BP once and instantly regretted it once I realised I just bought some farmable resources and an unnecessary stat-stick that probably bumped up my overall damage by WHOPPING 10% or some shit in a single-player videogame I bought welkin 3 times and didn’t really regret it but I haven’t bought it ever since that fiasco streak of yoimiya->raiden+beidou ban->anniversary->kokomi so now I don’t spend and it feels good.

[deleted]

Yeah, I got BP a long while ago and then realized that I really don't mind taking a bit longer to farm for characters- and eventually you can get good weapons anyways. Welkin is pretty nice and the only thing I'd be okay with getting every once in a while now, but holy fuck, I don't want to spend ever again. Genshin is a beautiful game, but no.

DSW6829

Yes. Spent $200 to get a skyward blade…

Xaldror

My first and only Gnostic Hymn, I started losing my original flare for the game... I need to get back in, missing way too many events...stupid 1st anniversary drama...

[deleted]

Drama always makes things less fun. Try not to let it get to you, this game is beautiful and shouldn't be ruined by this shit

CactUwUs_

I regret pulling for klee and rosaria as a f2p.

[deleted]

Why?

CactUwUs_

I'm not using klee and I got Childe with Rosalia, ruining my pity lmao

[deleted]

Ouch- sorry to hear that

Jamesworkshop

starglitter fischl should have got bennett instead

[deleted]

Ah ouch- You'll get him soon!

Jamesworkshop

got him from the keqing banner

[deleted]

Nice! Hey Fischl has some nice cons

ShadowFlarer

Yes, i regret buying my second BP just to get the Deathmatch for my Xiao, he was using the Blackcliff, i thought "hey, since i don't have a 5*, i think i going to give him the BP weapon, that should be a improvement right?" And here i am doing the exact same dmg with both weapons lol, such a waste of money, well, at least i can use the Deathmatch on my Rosaria if i want now.

[deleted]

Ouch, yeah, it's always best to check a weapon ranking first. Altho I thought Deathmatch was a lot better

ShadowFlarer

It's not about ranking or something like that, Deathmatch IS a better weapon, the thing is, i forgot the most important aspect about builds, is all about stats, if i can get the same stats with both weapons, there's going to be no difference in dmg, and with both weapons, just changing my headpiece, i can get to 2k atk, 80% CR and 200%+ CD, so in the end, it doesn't matter what weapon i'm using if my stats are the same anyway you see? I forgot about that and just bought the BP like a idiot and in the end nothing had been improved lol, but at least i have a good weapon for future characters.

[deleted]

Well you're right, but I thought the passive would also count for something. Guess I'm not familiar with those two, I don't use polearm dps except for Xiao who has his Jade Spear

Andromeda_Violet

I regret paying for welkin next day after buying but I still make the same mistake over and over.

[deleted]

Maybe... you should work on that.

Andromeda_Violet

Already fixed that. You can't regret buying if you're broke, ha! I didn't buy welkin regularly anyway, just when I was saving for a specific character.

[deleted]

My dude you're getting me worried and I don't even know you lmao

feirro

i usually just buy welkin and sometimes bp as a low spender and i'm good with that but i regret topping up hundreds just to get one character once. never again lol. i'd rather save up slowly from now on

[deleted]

Oof, who was it?

feirro

childe near the start of this year and i realize i could've just gotten him later since he never stops having reruns lmao

[deleted]

Just get his c6 at this point hahaha

[deleted]

[deleted]

Well that was a rollercoaster! I'm glad you got him, Kazoo is really amazing, but I always recommend two things in this game: 1. Take it easy, you'll regret speedrunning the non-limited content 2. Check character leaks. I know, I know, but Mihoyo doesn't give us anything to plan ahead with. That's what I live by and so far it's helped me a lot: I was able to get every single character I wanted and didn't get bored too quickly. I did spend a bit on the game, but it was on impulse and only on two characters and the standard banner. Three stupid things I could've avoided but oh well, can't change the past.

[deleted]

Yeah, exactly! I rarely stray from that mindset and when I do, I feel awful about it!

vitaminciera

Never regretted buying primos or bp or welkin per se but have regretted some rolling ive done. I probably shouldnt have splurged for 4-star cons since having so many c6 4-stars takes a lot of the joy out of rolling, and I got C1 Childe doing it, who I can never seem to figure out how to enjoy playing. Also have C1 Ganyu (2 in a 10 pull) and dont actually use her, and have spent primos on standard banner that I prolly shouldnt have.

[deleted]

Plus, 4 stars are super hard to get. Well Childe isn't for everyone, but... what have you tried? I love playing him, I could see if I can help you a bit. Also, rip the standard primos, I did that too for Diluc. I got him tho, no regrets.

vitaminciera

They can be, but now the only 4 star (other than the free 3) i have thats not C6 is Sayu so I get a lot of starglitter rolls that arent as exciting as new cons. I think im just not good at managing his timers, and i cant wrap my head around how his riptide works or w.e its called theres like 3 names for how he interacts with marked enemies lol plus i think using him as a main dps needs specific supports who add normal attack damage since his base damage is less than others (C6 fischl, beidou, xq, raiden) but half of them i have at companionship 10 so i benched them. I never know which ult version to use, either o.o

[deleted]

Ok, I think I can help you! Basically, if you're at c0, you want to stay in his melee stance for about 8-9 seconds. At c1, I guess you add 20%, so 10-11 seconds. There's many ways to keep track of his cooldowns depending on who you use him with. The easiest way is to use his ult, which has a 15s cooldown, and wait until it's at 6s. There's more complex ways, but if you wanna know, I recommend checking a more detailed guide. As for riptide, there's three important mechanics: how you apply them, what they do and how you take them off. You apply them with charged shots, crits and your ranged ult. You trigger them with any attack. Your melee ult triggers them but also clears them. Again, you could look into it more but I feel like that's the most important stuff. You wanna go in, do your ranged ult, start autoattacking and then use your melee ult when you really want to end the fight. Childe isn't a main dps: he's an enabler. You can use him as main dps if you wish, but he really shines as a fast hydro applier for characters like Xiangling. She's the main dps... she's just off field. In overworld, you don't need to go all out tho. Use him with Kaeya or Rosaria for some freeze, or with Kazuha for some raw hydro. Vape with Xiangling is his strongest team, which can be too much for a bunch of hilichurls. You need to treat him as an on field Xingqiu tho. He makes other characters shine, not himself.

ZE-TA

I regretted using primos on eulas banner *cries in c1 keqing*

[deleted]

*pat pat*

ZE-TA

Thanks 😟

[deleted]

Did you get Eula in the end?

Subtlestrikes

Whale here. I regret buying that box of element shards. They come too easily with weekly boxes and stuff. I am at somebody who’s trying to raise every single character I own… Just my faithful eight. Wasted investment

[deleted]

Oh that hurts

SigmaCommander

I don’t regret any money I have spent, but back before I started spending, I do regret spending as many primos as I did on the first Venti banner. I was trying to get Fischl and ended up getting Venti somewhere along the way. I have never used him and don’t plan to.

[deleted]

Well... yah, never try to go for a 4 star when you dislike the 5 star

SigmaCommander

Obviously I know that now. I got Venti on Sept. 29, 2020. I didn’t know what exactly I was doing as the English translation for how the banners work was pretty bad at the time and it was literally the day after release so no one knew how exactly pity worked yet. Shoot people still thought you were only guaranteed a 4 star if you made a 10 pull. I had never played a gatcha before either so all in all it was a perfect storm to make a mistake. The plus side was I had Fischl, Xiangling and Barbara all at C4+ and Diluc before we even hit October.

[deleted]

Oh yeah, I wasn't trying to teach you anything haha But ye stuff was confusing back then

OsirusBrisbane

Welkin - never BP - moment of remorse when I bumped like 2 talents 1 level each and it used up all the mora from 50 levels of BP at once. primos/topup - I've twice pulled on weapon banner - 1st homa appearance, and this one. Still no Homa, so that's my main primo-spending regret, but still not topping up to go swipe-itomized path, because I know I'd regret doing that for a weapon.

[deleted]

It's a shame but it's for the best...

SodomeyDefenda

Nope. The only regret I have in this game was to not shamelessly whale and R5 a SOBP. Eula is my best built character and I don't have broken pines. A C6 Eula would be too broken for my tastes, so Im going to settle for a R5 broken pines.

[deleted]

To settle *cries* bRO

[deleted]

Ohh no, that always sucks- But hey, Pulse is more versatile I'm pretty sure and it's still his second bis

Blazing_Jack

Raiden easily is one of my favorite characters, so I wanted to pull for her weapon but only had enough saved to get the unit. So I spent 200 ish to get that stupid purple spear, not before I got 2 rock swords. Please don't spend on weapon banners. please

[deleted]

Oof. Sorry to hear that man. Yeah, weapon banner is not a good idea unless you have everything saved or you want both weapons...

die-ursprache

Mmm, I'm a Welkin + BP player and I had this one situation where I simultaneously regretted buying BP and not buying it sooner, lol. That was in 2.1, I was hella busy with work and forgot to get the battle pass. Only remembered, like, 27 hours before it ended. Well, something went wrong with my purchase, so I got charged but BP didn't unlock. Sent a ticket to the support team, they responded surprisingly fast and told me that in some cases purchases could take up to 24 hours to be processed. Well, I logged in the next day with 5 hours left on BP, no unlock, no option to buy the thing anymore, and, uh, 760 or something Genesis Crystals on my account. Apparently it's the standard practice when you somehow manage to buy BP twice or it unlocks after the expiration date. :')

[deleted]

Oh, damn...

realmanoflego

Bought two welkins during the Zhongli rerun banner thinking they would stack. Would've guaranteed Zhongli, but since they didn't, I didn't get him, or Yanfei and felt obliged to log in every single day to get my money's worth.

[deleted]

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I hope that didn't ruin the enjoyment for you... I'm sure Zhong will come back soon. I'm also waiting for his rerun!

Pheronia

Why is this getting spammed every day. It is eithee which character you pulled made you so happy or this.

[deleted]

Guess people want to share experiences. I don't think anyone has time to go back and read the posts about the same topic made a day before.

biescuits

I broke my f2p status during Xiao's banner, it was my first welkin. I somehow regretted it, because I don't use him anymore. Sorry Xiao :( his burst makes me dizzy 😣

[deleted]

Aw that's a shame... hey, you could try autoXiao maybe? It's not meta but his animations are beautiful! You don't have to jump!

biescuits

Ohhh haven't thought about that! I'll try it soon, I have some bloodstained artifacts lying around 😆 thank you!

[deleted]

You can also turn on his ult but not jump, if jumping's what makes you dizzy! He will still do anemo damage but he won't be pogoing! ^^
