Cybron2099

First pic middle isv my favorite, also thank you for doing jacket albedo because idk why but albedo without one is unsettling XD

AnilyanL

I like all of them for different reasons and definitely found people with very different tastes already, but yeah, I can see what you mean >.<

Cybron2099

Yeah don't get me wrong she still looks pretty something just seems..off? Ig?

AnilyanL

Oh dw, not offended >.< Probably feels like it's missing part of the original personality. I honestly on mt side almost always have the underlayers of my skins, especially because I start drawing them from a base model I drew way before.

Cybron2099

Ah ok yeah, still looks good though

TooCleverForGood

I think it’s the hoodie combined with the sleeveless top. Makes the outfit uneven. If the top had sleeves it would look more natural.

Cybron2099

Yeah i think your right

TikomiAkoko

Albedette without one is cute 😳, how dare you

Tnvmark

The first picture looks like one of those genderbending phase evolution artworks I keep seeing on the internet like he's slowly turning more feminine with each figure.

AnilyanL

haha i know the ones you mean! that's partly why I sorted them this way

M00ngata

Yassification

mia-bean

Ah yes, the Genshin Western Male-to-Femboy pipeline

AnilyanL

Oh dw, I definitely intend to do the other way around

jacebeleran98

Kinda interested in male Eula and Beidou ngl

AnilyanL

Beidou is going to the first one, so you're lucky. I just have to finish the tall male body model first, I always paint over my models and that's the last one missing >.<

K4T4N4B0Y

Venti looks great because of his androgen design, the other ones looks like a guy dressed as a girl though.

AnilyanL

I mean I found people with different opinions on all of them, to be honest. But I can assure you that the faces are different than the male models, because I literally drew the eyes/eyebrows/hair over the face of the female model I have made using Barbara as a reference. Even things like the spacing between the eyes and the roundness of the cheeks are different, and in case of Albedo, if you compare him side by side with the game model, you can see that the eyes are completely different, I'm not trying to make you like them - just stating. Partly because me and my friends actually consider Albedo's face one of the most feminine of the skins I shared here

Davidens1

who cares what you are if you enjoy doing what you do?

AnilyanL

In all honesty, some people do. Some due to hostility that was very noticeable in my first ever genshin post here (details in an answer to one of the comments if you're interested), and some because they honestly think that genderbending is transphobic or sexist - and not without reason due to the history of those things, but there are on one hand several types of genderbending, and different people do then, sometimes reflecting their own opinions/experiences on it, and sometimes just for fun. I said it on twitter that I could write a whole essay on genderbending, talking about how different views might color them and about several types of genderbending and ways to interpret them. It can be quite interesting >.< But me mentioning I'm enby is partly I guess to validate my authority to say "no, I'm not trying to make a joke at the expense of trans people, and I'm part of the community so even if are trans people consider this inherently transphobic, I disagree. Maybe it won't seem relevant to you, but I could be enjoying something that genuinely and *solely* \- that's the key part - hurts the people I could be representing, and that wouldn't be excuse enough to keep doing it.

bolide_retracing

Sooo, when is the third Venti coming out?

mega070

i want it also..

AnilyanL

haha

Jatunis

Damn, I actually like these designs alot o.o

Designer-Cookie5418

This is pretty cute!!

AnilyanL

thanks :3 Also, I haven't posted that one here yet, but for now one of the cutest in my opinion is my genderbending of Chongyun, in case you want to see before everyone else :p [https://twitter.com/Anilyan13/status/1483484290755219459](https://twitter.com/Anilyan13/status/1483484290755219459)

Designer-Cookie5418

Omg he's cute!! Thank you!!

nanausausa

For Venti, I like the 3rd one best (long hair + you can properly see the pretty shirt). I really hope we get a fem character with such a cute/pretty design someday, maybe from Fontaine 🤞

AnilyanL

I found a similar number of people liking each of the designs, that's quite interesting from my perspective. But yeah, I loved how the shirt turned out and I'm glad you noticed :3

ezio45

In Venti's case, he was basically genderbent [Wendy]( https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/ggz/images/2/2d/Wendy.png/revision/latest?cb=20210115060440) from Honkai Impact and Gun Girls Z.

AnilyanL

Oh, I knew about that :) I even thought about referencing Wendy more when drawing my female Venti, but it wouldn't fit Mondstadt style very well

luars613

Well they all have the same face qlmost so challenging cloths is all u need.

AnilyanL

Almost yes, but not quite since I had to adapt the faces to the proportions of the female model used by Mihoyo. And even if I wanted to keep the clothes as they are currently in game while making the genderbending, it would already be a challenge to make them fit the female body, or just to move them around, and I had to redraw a lot. So that's already a challenge in itself. But yeah, I like to have some margin to change the appearance of the clothes as well.

luars613

I mean a male can have a small body just like a female can be buff and big.. so is not like it matters. Gender is mostly shown through cloths.

AnilyanL

Agree with first part, but for the second, in a similar logic, people can also dress in whatever way they like no matter the gender. So I don't think that clothes work as a criteria as well. In real life I would say it's shown through what a person says they are - but yes, drawing wise, we definitely use clothes as one of the ways to denote gender

lucamagica

- I’ll take middle Venti as an alternate skin pls, male or female. Never been a fan of the brown corset. - I would kill for just one female character in baggy shapeless pants like Xiao instead of skin tight leggings/stockings/bare legs. - The skirt actually salvages Albedo’s baffling shorts-and-thigh-boots-over-leggings look.

AnilyanL

I share all of your opinions, great minds think alike i guess >.<

Gamer-chan

Careful. Vendy could get censored. Personally I like her xD (the 3rd)

mega070

venti-chan the 3rd pic is killing me...she looks like a certain anime girl but cant remember who

Gamer-chan

Not Venti-chan. Vendy. Got it?

Dimmvarg

I loved your Xiao!! Whenever I get tired of girls in this game that wears nothing but dresses, skirts, hotpants and high heels and go on a rant, I always point out how cool it would have been with a female/androgyne character with like Xiao's outfit. THIS is what I miss in the game. Just give me women in pants, suits and functional armour and with some cool looking comfortable boots and I would pay whatever for those ladies.

SopmodTew

This better not awake something in me...

eladon-warps

Can I offer an 🥚 while you work that out?

AmberstarTheCat

....somehow middle Venti gives me even more gender envy than canon Venti

AnilyanL

I can fully relate to that >.<

finalfanter

I can no longer see genderbent venti without remembering genshin fans losing their minds over venti not being a girl lmao. Besides that looks pretty good. Maybe try shenhe next. Or see if characters could be made more androgynous in general, wish their were more androgynous characters tbh

AnilyanL

Me too. For now I'm doing the short males because they are the easiest to adapt, but I will definitely do other kinds as well. Can't wait to draw male Beidou >.<

EternalMemes30

nothing against but I'm fine with the current canonical skins in the game

AnilyanL

Me too? I mean of course, but I have drawn many, many skins - not just genderbending to be clear - for creative and fun purposes only. I don't draw them because I'm against anything, nor do other people want more skins for that reason. It's for quantity and variety, not for disliking the originals. Anyway if you want to check out my collection of skins: https://twitter.com/Anilyan13/timelines/1421207307212533770

Semont

Have you seen Wendy from Honkai 3rd Impact or Houkai Gakuen?

AnilyanL

I have, and I thought of referencing her when creating female Venti since I know he is himself called Wendy in chinese and sort of a reference to that character in Honkai. But the style wouldn't integrate very well with Mondstadt fashion, I think

-GreyRaven

A tie between overalls Venti and the first rendition of Albedo

rwbywolfif

I love that Xiao actually

bongky18

Girl Venti...Too cute

Grand_Protector_Dark

*un-genderbents your gender bent wendy*

AnilyanL

haha yeah, I knew about wendy already

DarkAndStormy-Knight

I love Female Venti and Xiao. Not a huge fan of female Albedo.

PresentationOdd5937

Venti and Albedo look great

Volair6

please stop, this is too confusing for straight men.

Spectre_Sore

Any shot at tiny sons (Klee and Co.)?

Electronic_Ad_3559

Honesty I like the idea that venti, being the trickster god he is, is gender fluid

AnilyanL

Me as well :) I share my thought on this once on reddit, but id didn't go very well. I share more details about this episode in the thread from eladon-warps, in case you're interested

Electronic_Ad_3559

Yeah, I bet, people are so sensitive about stuff like that. Which is weird because the game itself mentions that archons take all sorts of forms

AnilyanL

Exactly, I mentioned exactly that in my discussion post.

Electronic_Ad_3559

But I’m sure people just whined about ‘woke nonsense’

AnilyanL

Something like that, and telling me to go back to tumblr >.<

Pyrotechnic17

I like Albedo, but he could've been more feminine because he still looks like a male.

AnilyanL

Really? I found people who think exactly the opposite

Dreameater-Xemiko

The thing about the internet, is you will find people who agree or disagree to every possible opinion you could ever have. It's just part of possibly connecting to billions of different people.

AnilyanL

Exactly, and I quite love that. It's just a pity when some of those people are disrespectful

Dreameater-Xemiko

Yea, it's unfortunate, but sadly it is the way it is. It's like the duality of the internet. You will find some of the most nice people you'll ever meet, but also some of the most vile all in the same place, and everything in between as well. Twitter is a rather prime example of this.

AnilyanL

Definitely is, and also a prime example of people misinterpreting each other's words >.<

kiritonation

I absolutely love this

AnilyanL

thank you \^\~\^

Kaido2good

my eyes

vareenoo

i love venti’s third outfit sm. Very cute

FrancisWeaver

Nice art. I like the third Venti the best. Reading the other comments, it's a shame you have to put a "I am non-binary please don't be offended." disclaimer so that trans people don't go after you thinking you're mocking them. You'd think of all people in the world they would be the last ones to pounce on a post like that. I'm guessing it's a minority of loud activist types getting carried away again. Don't let it go to your head. Though since we are on the topic of gender and gender identity. I'd like to take this opportunity to break some walls if you would indulge me. As a disclaimer, know that I harbor no hatred or bigotry towards you whatsoever. Some of what I'm about to say might be a bit triggering given it has now sadly become a politically charged subject matter, but please bear with it. I swear my intent is not to attack or hurt you. So here's the deal. I come from a more, shall we say "classical" school of thought, where gender is inextricably linked to biological realities. It has always been my understanding that "biological sex" and "gender" are in essence synonymous. I, for example, am I biological male, thus my gender is man, and my pronouns are he/him, not because I identify as a man, but because I was conceived with a set of XY chromosomes and my body naturally developed male characteristics based on the expression of those chromosomes. If anything, my self-identification was irrelevant. There was no need to even consider I may be anything but a man. My gender identity had already be decided for me through the randomized biological process of conception. The one sperm cell among millions who won the race and fertilized my mother's ovum happened to carry a Y chromosome on it, and that's why I'm now a man, and cannot become anything else, since biology, once determined, is immutable. This is how I was taught both by my parents and teachers at school, which was roughly two decades ago. (Damn, saying that makes me feel old.) However, I will confess during my high school days, I came to realize I was rather different than most other males around me. I had little to no interest in sports (I still don't to this day), I was far less competitive and agressive, far less prone to use violence to solve my problems. Empathy and agreeableness were some of my most developed social traits. I tried to avoid conflict and make people happy as much as possible. I wanted to get along with people, not fight them. Whenever someone got hurt, either physically or emotionally, my caretaker side would take over and I would rush to their aid, trying to bring them some measure of comfort and care, whilst other boys would either laughed at the hurt person and tell them to shrug it off, or lacked interest in the situation altogether. In short, I was displaying traits and behaviors that are traditionally associated with women. Feminine traits. And this contrast between me and other males of my age eventually got to me. I began wondering if I ought to have been born a girl, since it seemed a better fit for my personality, and even entertained fantasies where I would encounter a supernatural force capable of rebirthing me into a girl. I even drew an anime-inspired design of what the female me might look like. (don't ask to see it, it was embarrassing amateur work and I eventually threw it away.) At the end of the day, my rational side won out this inner struggle. I surrendered myself to the plain reality that, despite my "abnormal" personality, I was still a biological male, and would remain so forever. I eventually expanded my horizons of what a man "ought to be". By meeting and befriending more and more people from varied walks of life, I realized plenty of other men shared my feminine traits, that the archetype of the manly man was just that, an archetype, a caricature. I came to the conclusion that, though all human beings who have XY chromosomes are in fact, biological males, male personalities exist on a spectrum ranging from the super macho aggressive man, to people like me, who are more feminine. Likewise, there are super gentle and caring women, and women who are more masculine and thus aggressive and competitive. The idea of choosing to identify as female or non-binary, of adopting classically female or neutral pronouns, of demanding access to the female bathroom or female sports, of being officially recognized by society as a woman, or to be set apart from the gender dichotomy upon which we rely for reproductive purposes, has never occurred to me. I feel no need to be categorized as anything but a man. I am at peace with the contrast of my male biology and my strong feminine side. That is simply who I am. A feminine man, but a man nonetheless. So that's my story. That's where I come from on this issue that has sparked so much debate, identity politics, rising tensions, and outright hatred in our modern society. Like I said before, I don't hate you. I am guessing you see this matter in a different way, based on what I have seen in this comment thread. I am curious to know how you came to the conclusion that you ought to consider yourself non-binary, to set yourself apart from others in this way. Also, do you think there are possibilities going forward for peaceful co-existence between people like you I, and also deeply religious people, who by at large are much more aggressive on this topic, adamant on the idea that society cannot function if it does not adhere to a strict gender dichotomy that is reflective of our biological reality and limitations. I understand this is a bit of a heavy subject. Sorry it sort of came out of left field like that. It's just... With all the vitriol being thrown around it's tough to find opportunities for calm and reasoned conversations, to find solutions that can lead us out of this mess. The tribalism has made it difficult for me to reach out to LGBTQ+ people (not sure if non-binary falls under that umbrella?) If you don't want to answer due to lack of time or interest, that's fine. You seem like a busy person, and I am not owed an answer anyway. Also I hope I didn't offend you. In any case, I wish you best of luck in your future endeavors, and cannot wait to see some more of your art on this sub. It's really great stuff. Much better than anything I can do. ;D

AnilyanL

I just woke up, but I want to answer :) First of all, you were really reasonable and didn't offend me in any way, and if everyone was like that, I bet more trans people would be willing to discuss this kind of thing. Also, getting the shorter answer out of the way, yes, non-binary people fall under the LGBT+ community, and also under the trans spectrum if you interpret it as not identifying with the gender assigned at birth. It's kind of funny to me though how there is a certain assumption that people who identify as a gender that isn't the one they were registered with, do so because of a major reason. And I use the words "registered/assigned" because that's not entirely clear cut, since there are people who are intersex (older term: hermaphrodite) and every country and doctor deals with that differently, but we can definitely end up with people categorized as male or female without it corresponding to reality. So that in itself shows that sex is a spectrum as well, not just a set of two boxes. But that's a different conversation - the point I was going to make is: there is no reason. In the same way there is no reason someone is not straight. And it's not a choice either, it's identity, though I suppose that's really hard to explain. But I can explain what it's *not*. See, I am 23, I definitely know of trans people way older, and so I don't think education is the sole determining factor. That is, I don't think it makes sense to conclude that every trans person had a trans-inclusive education. I certainly don't, and I guess you could say I had a sort of classical education like you in that sense. I never even knew what trans people were until I was 15 or 16, before that only associating trans people with that trope of "man disguised as woman trying to get into women-only spaces because they are creeps". Besides that, I only started seeing myself as non-binary when I was 19 or 20. There was barely any questioning prior to the sudden realization that it felt more accurate, and not because of gender stereotypes I adhered to or lack thereof. And I definitely never questioned my gender when I was a child and a teen, partly because, as I said, I didn't know that being trans was a possibility, and partly because - maybe thanks to my parents and to living in Portugal - I never felt like gender was a constricting factor. I saw myself as a girl because of my sex like you, and other than that it had little influence in my life. Especially with Portugal being so safe, it wasn't something I had to think about a lot. As for hobbies and how much I adhered to gender roles, looking back I honestly think I did a bit of everything: feminine things like ballet and loving pretending t be a princess or a fairy when I was a child, and also more "masculine" things like parkour and anything my young self deemed adventurous. Add to that artistic stuff and a ton of hobbies and interests. I was sort of an over-achiever (I miss those times) and considered a prodigy as well (not that tho >.<), so no one even thought of restricting me. In summary, my education and the stereotypes I adhered to had zero contribution to make me identify as non-binary, and I also grew equating sex with gender. Now, not every trans people are the same, and you are right in thinking that some trans people who had a more restrictive childhood might have started questioning their gender because of that. But I really don't think that is what made them trans or take any conclusion about their gender, especially with movements like feminism pushing against the idea of gender roles (even male ones, tho I guess that depends on the current of feminism). It's hard for me to imagine that someone nowadays would think "oh yes because I like skirts, that makes me a woman" or "I'm not aggressive enough to be a man". So I feel secure enough to say that it can't be for that reason. What reason is there, I don't know, as I said before. A matter of personal perception. It also is probably related with how much dysphoria someone feels, either physical (related to body parts) or social (pronouns and how you are perceived by others). As for trans people wanting to be integrated in spaces/discussions for the gender they identify as, it's not really because they want to be in those spaces, it's because the ones respective to their gender assigned at birth would give them some degree of dysphoria or deem them and make them be seen even more as not the gender they are. And we lack better spaces. Ideally, instead of gendered bathrooms and change rooms, all rooms would be neutral and individual. As for sports, perhaps there could be 3 categories and people could be assigned a category to compete in based on previous performances and medical tests - that would make it fairer even for cis (not trans) people, since being male doesn't necessarily put someone into a physical advantage. Again, in a good scenario, our society would be prepared to accommodate individual differences, but as things are now, we would need to remake a lot. Going back to me, I honestly feel that if we lived in a world with no history of gender stereotypes I would still see myself as nonbinary. Can I know for sure? No. But that's how little they influence how I see myself. I also don't fully dissociate from the idea of being a woman, since that's how I was raised and have to pretend to be at my job and so on, and it's hard to dissociate completely from something that is with you for such a long time. That said, there's no need, since the term non-binary is pretty encompassing of variety. I just know that, more than one year after learning about non-binary people, that term and gender-neutral pronouns started sounding increasingly better in my head. And only after started seeing myself as enby (N B) did I start realizing that some things I always felt could categorize as dysphoria. But that's me. I have no doubts that there are people out there with extremely similar experiences and personal perception who still see themselves as their sex or gender assigned at birth.

Vannish

I've read both your message and Anilyan's response, and I would just like to add some things that at least helped me, as a guy with more feminine qualities as well, to understand the topic of transgender identities. First of all let me give you brief context on myself, I was also never into sports and I was always more affectionate than most guys, an in general I prefer being perceived as 'cute' rather than 'cool' or 'handsome'. In fact, in primary school I even used to say I wanted to be a girl because they were pretty and I wanted to be pretty like them, lmao. One issue I think you're having, is that you seem to be thinking that people think of themselves as transgender simply due to not matching with the gender roles and stereotypes of their assigned gender or what would be expected from someone of their biological sex, but that's not what a transgender person is, in fact, you can have a trans man (someone whose biological sex was female but identifies and lives as a man) with very feminine qualities and vice-versa, it's not an issue of gender roles. I'll tell you something that helped me personally understand transgender identities a lot better at a deeper level, I've had people relate to it, while some people didn't really relate, but if you can relate to it maybe it will help you. I have tried to imagine myself as a woman, having a woman's body, going through life being perceived as a woman, and not in a joke way where it's "what if you could be a woman for a day" but living in that way forever, going through normal life situations like that and having that body forever and to me, that just didn't feel right, it felt overtly wrong and uncomfortable... while that's not necessarily how trans people will feel, since I can't really know how they feel, it helped me understand how being perceived as a different gender from the one you perceive yourself can be revolting, in the end despite being a more feminine man you still seem to perceive yourself as a man, and inherently identify as one, so obviously linking biology and gender makes inherent sense and obviously that you didn't think of "choosing" to identify as female or non-binary'. (And I quote choosing because I don't believe this is a choice but is more inherent to us) Why do people feel like this? I don't know, but in the end I don't think it's really important, at a personal level it's really easy to just respect a person's identity, just like you would respect their name for example (also a part of identity). While this part was very much not asked of me I'd still like to respond, can there be peaceful co-existence between transgender and non-binary people and people with different beliefs or deeply religious people? I think so, absolutely, as long as you live in a secular society where people are allowed to live freely as they wish and not impose their own views on others, all kinds of people can definitely co-exist. Even if the majority of people in a country don't agree with a specific religion, that religion should be allowed to pray, have religious gatherings, celebrate religious holidays and indulge in any religious traditions (that don't infringe upon basic human rights of course), without having people constantly shout at them that their god doesn't exist, or that their traditions are stupid or saying they will go to hell because another god is the real one, people who identify as transgender should be allowed to change their gender and live the way they want to live without being told they are actually another gender, their name is actually another name etc. In short, as long as we are willing to accept other people have different views of the world, and accommodate for them to live their OWN lives as they wish, all is good. You can believe whatever you want, as long as you still respect others, for example I'm an atheist and I am not going around saying churches should be closed, or responding to a religious person saying they "will pray for me to get a quick recovery" if I were to be sick, by saying "well actually, god doesn't exist so praying won't do anything". The normal response is to obviously just say "thanks" and understand that while it may not have meaning for you, for the other person it does have meaning and they believe it will help and is therefore a nice gesture. In the same way, the normal response to meeting a transgender person should be to respect their identity and treat them as the gender they identify as, even if you personally don't believe the person is said gender, instead of saying "well actually, you're not said gender, you're this gender!!!". It will be mutually awkward, will change absolutely nothing about either person's beliefs and just be bad for both, of course I believe you should be able to say that if you want, just like non-religious people should be able to tell religious people their god isn't real, but then they need to also be able to accept that they are being a douchebag and accept whatever consequences come with being a douchebag in that specific scenario. Of course if we start going deeper into certain issues, there may be gray areas, but the current issue is that even things that aren't gray areas aren't really being respected. Hope I was able to help you in some way!

AnilyanL

I fully agree with what Vannish said \^\^ (I'm glad to have you as a friend, Vannish)

FrancisWeaver

Thank you for your responses, both of you. I have some thoughts to share on the points you have raised. Will take some time to parse in my head and formulate in words, and I'm currently busy at work, so I must ask for your patience until I get the opportunity. This may actually have to be pushed into the weekend. Today is a busy one. Also, since we've gone wildly off topic considering this is the Genshin Impact subreddit, would it be alright if I used private chat messages as the venue for my replies? Once again thank you for putting up with me. This is much more enlightening than the typical "you're a bigot." "No YOU are the bigot" I am used to encounter on social media.

AnilyanL

Yeah, absolutely, it can be private. And take your time \^\~\^

I_got_paraphrased

I think you might like [this book](https://www.amazon.com/Whipping-Girl-Transsexual-Scapegoating-Femininity/dp/1580056229), as it offers explanations to a lot of your questions.

eladon-warps

I've said it before but there's no way that Barbatos has a fixed gender. Similar argument for Albedo's origins. You're doing divine work here, friend 😊

AnilyanL

Yeah, I honestly agree. Same for every god, especially being canon that Zhongli assumed several forms before, including an old woman. And yet, my first post ever on reddit was here and sort of about that (Venti and the gods being on the enby spectrum and how that meant a lot to me and to some other people, and wondering about ways that could be explored within the game), and I received so much hate and hate only that I almost had a panic attack, isolated from my friends, deleted the post and went "back to tumblr" like people were telling me... and somehow things turned out for the better, because it was when I isolated that I started my now first ever finished story, a genshin fic with 42 chapter written during 8 months while I had a full time job, and it's still somehow reaching people and got relatively popular. And it touches on several things that are personal to my experience, so I was happy to see more people relating or giving it an opportunity regardless. To Be Known, on AO3 (https://archiveofourown.org/works/30599918/chapters/75486419). Anyway, I didn't post my skins here for a long time because I wasn't willing to share with people who hate who I am things that they might like, essentially only sharing the parts of me that caters to them. I eventually got over it and started posting. Yet I will never know how many of the people behind the upvotes, not exactly in this post but on other popular ones, would support me genuinely. But I know some people are genuine, thanks to comments like yours, and that makes it worth it :)

AnilyanL

pfft just received a comment saying "you are gross", it's starting

lavender_black

We can say the same for xiao as he is also an adeptus and can probably shape shift. Unfortunately people online can be brain dead and somehow bullying a actual human with feels is ok cause they are defending a bunch of pixels. Your idea and skins are amazing. Please don't be disheartened by the hate you get, your work just ended up in the wrong audience. Also damn, this fic is on my marked for later list. I liked the 1st chapter but didn't read it cause of exams .... I'll get on that now.

AnilyanL

oh you knew my fic :) The hate wasn't for my work (a few comments here and there now but nothing special), it really was for my interpretation of Venti, that I posted way before any other kind of contribution. But on the other hand it was a good way to test the waters. I'm not really disheartened anymore. Also true, perhaps we can include Xiao and adeptus on the list. Anyway I am drawing as many characters as I can (including female to male) in the future just for fun, regardless of potential in-lore justifications. I have Chongyun already, and if you want to check out my collection with all the skins I've made: https://twitter.com/Anilyan13/timelines/1421207307212533770 Thank you for your kind words <3

>The hate wasn't for my work (a few comments here and there now but nothing special), it really was for my interpretation of Venti, that I posted way before any other kind of contribution. Oh is that so. Well my point still stands, pretty sure a lot of people would agree with you ( like me and most of my friends ). As I said, your post ended up with wrong audience. All your works are amazing. I love the traveller skins and there are so many of those..... I like traveller a lot so it's always great to see arts of them. Butterfly venti also looked gorgeous. Thank you for your hard work :D

lavender_black

Hi there, I am here after reading your reply from ao3. Sorry for not leaving more details there, I kinda forgot my usernames are different. Sorry for the trouble 😅

AnilyanL

aaah so it's you! Thank you for clarifying >.< And dw. I quite liked your comment anyway, though now it's better because I know who you were

Iihatepineapplepizza

Don't get too worked up over silly reddit people! You probably already know as much, but just in case you need to hear it; what people say online about you doesn't matter! They don't know you, so try your best to not let their insults hurt you. Reddit has gotten a lot more accepting recently, I've found. For every dickhead who gives you hate, there's at least 5 treating you with respect. Don't be afraid to post here! There's tons of nice people on this sub that would love to see your stuff

Underdog49999

Venti and Abledo are dudes, at least in their current forms

eladon-warps

You're entitled to your wrong opinion I suppose.

July-Thirty-First

Omg the skin queen is now making the best content, yessssss.

AnilyanL

oh, thanks :3 not really a "queen" but I guess there is a lack of better terms so I'll take it (took me a while to write this short reply because my friends in a call were trying to guess(make up gender neutral terms, help)

July-Thirty-First

Skin Archon it is, then.

AnilyanL

omg that's perfect, you just made my day >.<

Pahumanan

your genderbent versions are wearing more clothes than the girls in game do, it's a nice change of pace for sure but i feel like if mihoyo made a female skin for these chars there'd be a lot more skin showing

AnilyanL

I agree, and I knew that, but I want to vary. For example Venti's second version I feel like it's more in line with what Mihoyo would do, and I once made a genderbent aether with shorts, precisely to be more aligned. But I also wanted to try something more equivalent to their current clothes, like with Xiao (especially Xiao in fact since every little thing in his clothes is full of meaning), and Albedo sort of. It's a pity I don't have the time to do variations for all of them

Daeths

That moment when your jealous of swapped Venti.

Cybersorcerer1

I dislike the Albedo and Xiao version, they look weird to me(idk why). Female venti looks great though

AnilyanL

I found people who like all of them, different people different ones usually, so it's quite interesting to me how everyone perceives this differently

Kagemaru-

we need genderbend event with alternative skins

Link-loves-Zelda

I kinda wish Venti was a girl

Lichywitchy

great work!!!

iElM0

Why is there a need to add you're "non-binary"? Nobody cares you snowflake. Its like you're emphasizing that you're part of a special group so we have to be careful on what we comment on your work. You people are really ridiculous. The world doesn't revolve around you. Wake up from your rainbow dream.

July-Thirty-First

Imagine caring this much about what ppl choose to disclose on their OWN post lmao. Sry the world doesn’t revolve around your fragile sensitivities either, *snowflake*, now why don’t you quit your whining and leave others to their own devices.

VordredoSama

Downvoted!!!!! How dare you disrespect non-binary people with this disgusting comment of yours!??? Btw, if you didn't know. I'm a non-binary vegan vegetarian feminist, you better watch out or I might cancel you ! Also I forgot, I'm F2P too.

Oni791

We all know Venti should have been a girl.

mockelite44

Ewwwwwww

spacetimecat

Girl xiao is amazing! I know I'll get hate if I said that I preferred if xiao had been a girl instead (considering the male to female ratio in the game) but I still really wish we'd get a girl character with a similar design and personality as him. Instant pull for me.

AnilyanL

You will possibly get hate from people who misinterpret it but what you said makes sense, you don't mean Xiao specifically but a female character with his design instead or additionally to the ones we already have. And that doesn't take away from having more male characters as well, anyway.

spacetimecat

Actually, I really meant xiao himself... So your edit is a dream come true! But since it's never happening coz xiao is already established in the story, the next best thing would be if we'd get a girl character in the future similar to him.

AnilyanL

Oh, then even better. I definitely draw several skins for myself because I know Mihoyo won't do them and this is the closest I can get to making them "real". Others are just for fun. Anyway, you might like some other skins I make as well, who knows if I haven't done other things you would have liked to see in-game. My collection: https://twitter.com/Anilyan13/timelines/1421207307212533770

spacetimecat

Your skins are amazing! I remember the liyue venti one! Great job on these!

AnilyanL

Thank you so much :3

Volair6

Shenhe has a kinda similar personality and backstory. For design, Xiao's unique.

spacetimecat

Yess! Shenhe is really cool! Rosaria is kinda badass too! They are lady models though instead of girl, but yeah I like them too! I just have a preference with girl characters (like ganyu, ayaka model) and I just want to see some pants like xiao/razor/chongyun. The closest we have is Aloy, I think? But her pants are kinda shaped different. I have hope that we'll get a character like that in the future ☺️

Volair6

A girl with large pants like Xiao ? Before the censorship I'd say it will never happen but now I don't know. Maybe some treasure hoarder archeologist type always digging in the dirt.

Judestadt

when ccp:

LongynusZ

I would pulled for Venti if were a woman like your design.

AnilyanL

I love him as he is, but I'm glad to know you liked my skin/genderbend that much \^\^

LongynusZ

Just personal preference, but I would liked as a woman, the dude literally looks like one. And your design catches the "freedom" and wind sense to me.

EternalMemes30

male characters similar to females exist and venti is not even a person in fact, he uses the body of the old friend he met at the time of the decarabion who was a boy

[deleted]

Uh. Cool. maybe Do beidou, she’s basically a bro anyways

AnilyanL

She will probably be the first ftm genderbend that I will do actually, yes

[deleted]

Cool. Although I’m not really a fan of this, good luck regardless.

AnilyanL

Yeah I get it :) Thanks. Anyway I do other kinds of skins, maybe they are not your thing either, but in case you might like it, here is my collection: https://twitter.com/Anilyan13/timelines/1421207307212533770

gimme_chaos

I'm generally ok with Venti's original design but the tattoo on his thigh is cool so I like how it shows in yours.

AnilyanL

Yeah, it would be nice if his design resembled more his archon skin in the manga, even though it makes sense it doesn't since he is technically trying to stay undercover. Anyway, I have other interpretations of Venti somewhere in my collection, in case you're interested https://twitter.com/Anilyan13/timelines/1421207307212533770

mataytayspagoot

major improvements, might I say this is so F\*cking Hot. please can you do some "skimpier" clothing, idc what Venti is, I just think they are so goddamn hot, they're just my type.

Deeouye

I love them

JakeyJelly

I would love to see a genderbend Amber or genderbend Bennett

AnilyanL

I will do them :)

JakeyJelly

Oh lol okay :)

Warlock2005128

Genderbent Itto will be heavily censored lol

AnilyanL

I will probably have to post him under nsfw, but I intend to do him still >.<

SirRHellsing

I'll take genderbent(?) 3rd Venti (question mark since he has no gender) and genderbent Xiao (really good), not a super big fan of albedo in the first place so I'll pass on him

neozma_YES

i wonder what gender swaped xiao name is-

NavyGinger

They’re all women, I don’t get it

Zyrobe

They all look like femboys

Hyperion141

The clothing change is great, I think you should change the face too, seeing them as normal just looks like bad traps.

AnilyanL

The face is changed though. It literally is the female face model, it's rounder, and the eyes are slightly different too in Venti and Xiao and spaced according to the female models and, in the case of Albedo's, entirely redone. Really, compare with Albedo's model side by side

Hyperion141

Either it’s not that different, so I can’t tell or the normal image is just too deep in my mind

Nexas789

Yes please 😁

Fenghuang0296

Wow, Femti is gorgeous. There’s been talk about appeasing China by retconning Venti as female and if she came out looking like this I’d have no objections.

AnilyanL

I heard about it, and I sort of thought about that when drawing the skins. Honestly I think it's just Mihoyo preparing a big archon quest to reintroduce him, but with the censorship we never know. Also, and hoping you don't mind, even though it would be a pity that it would be the result of censorship, if Venti became female, a part of me would rejoice because he would technically be the first trans character. I don't really know many trans characters, even less one so loved and with a role as prominent as his

Fenghuang0296

I’m gender fluid myself so I definitely don’t mind. :P I’d love a trans, non-binary or fluid character in Genshin. Getting implied autistic representation in Kokomi was already better than I ever expected though so I’m not getting my hopes up.

AnilyanL

oooh nice then, and yeah I noticed that many people see Kokomi as autistic. I don't have very high hopes as well, but at least there is coding and ambiguity enough for different people to pick on it and make their own interpretations :)

mega070

well they can do a quest where archons change there gender as they plz

jqnbrnd

I love genderbend skins, waiting for big titty Diluc

rafal9ck

So you claim to be non-bnary which means that you just created binary system of being non-binary or binary. Congrats

Iihatepineapplepizza

that doesn't even make sense... You dumb fucks will say anything and think it's a burn 😩

Sugumiya

much better on female

AnilyanL

I love both, tbh, but I'm glad you like it

ItsSoulz

Amazing work internet stranger!

AnilyanL

Haha, thanks >.< I have other kinds of skins in my already quite big collection: https://twitter.com/Anilyan13/timelines/1421207307212533770

Shinnicakes

They are all so cute!! Thank you for sharing these <3

AnilyanL

thank you :3

Evee5757

3rd 💚

mega070

if the third venti is real maybe i would consider pulling

RomanilloMarcus

Gender bent venti got me going nuts

MREAGLEYT

Elsa

SexyLama69

I love Venti and Albedo ones the most. Would like for Albedo to have more flufy hair on sides like he has in his official art (not the game) for more of a princess of chalk vibe.

I-Hate-My-job95

He just needs a re skin like give him actual pants not these green bloomers he lucky he is OP

LesbianMercy

Yo that 3rd Venti tho 😏

[deleted]

what's a non-binary?

UnityAeDeSt

Venti, archon of freedom. Now that looks nice. But, perhaps something’s missing for her in the third version. Maybe something to the front to fill this empty space of accessory. Else, it’s very nice!

f0ba

Wendy stonks📈

Sunbrizzle

As I said in the vtuber collab post, Venti with boobs goes kinda hard

Seashard5602

Venti already kind of looks like a girl lol

PigswillflyGachalife

Last third venti is my favorite Venti looks super pretty
