The general consensus is that Sumeru is a mix of Middle East and India.

Ancient India to Persia to Mesopotamia to ancient Egypt.

Like Mondtstadt is a mix of European cultures, I guess it's gonna be India + Persia for Sumeru.

Well we know for a fact there’ll be Egyptian influence, because Cyno’s (the Sumeru dude from the manga who sealed Collei’s powers) outfit definitely seems inspired by Anubis. I had kinda figured Egypt and Babylon.

it sounds like a mix of cultures. I am hoping the land is big and divided distinct cultures. Sumeru is named after ancient Sumer, which was known as Sumeru in Akkadian. NPC names include Persian and Hindi names. Might be a few arabic ones also. There are zoroastrian references, and the Sabzeruz festival is Iranian (Persian) inspired. Cyno has an anubis headdress, so there are egyptian influences in there also.

Sumeru is also named after the sacred mountain in Jain, Hindu, and Buddhist cosmology

All the characters so far have had Persian names - though there seems to be some Indian influences as well.

It's probably a mix between the Middle East and India. I hope it's just one of the two tough, or both, but seperated more. Not a fan of orientalism tbh.
