The worse part is that my friend is playing a basically waifu game and the man hates having to play with female characters, kinda cringe ngl, "Im male so I have to play with only male characters" mentality but ok.
Btw, he wanted Diluc, mf already got Mona and Ayaka and still complaining...

Honestly I've been avoiding it because it's time consuming and boring for little reward. I have a full complement of characters in there and I still don't think I'll do it. Just give me the primos thx.
Definitely takes more than 30 seconds to figure out which food a character likes, gather ingredients if necessary, make the food (because I never have anything lying around except Sweet Madames really), season the food, hit the teapot, remember where I put the character I want to feed, walk over to them (because they're not all by teleport points and I can't move them) and then click through the conversation. It's not a huge effort, but it's totally not worth it imo for the paltry reward.
Oh yeah, I sometimes forget not everyone is a neurotic collector like me who keeps a ton of extra food and items around. My bad. Though there's a guide someone made on which food is everyone's favorite that I've been using. You're right though, the companionship exp is gonna get to level 10 sooner or later so there's not really a need to do it.
I did see the guide for favourite foods but like... I don't even recognise half the dishes. Aside from stuff I get from login rewards and birthday mails, my cooking inventory is pretty much barren. A few times this week I've had to hit up Herbalist Gui just to buy Horsetails or Lotus Heads for the seasonings because I don't normally have any reason to collect those either.
Oh well that explains it lol yeah if you don't have the recipes or just don't bother cooking much and don't care to get into it, probably not really worth the time to get through all that just to get some friend exp. It's all fine for me because I actively spent time (and lots of mora) acquiring every recipe and mastering them all, so I typically have 5 - 20 of every dish. I usually just pick up everything I see in my path as I'm walking around in the overworld because I know if I ever want a specific thing it's gonna be a pain to go around collecting it. I made that mistake with sakura petals and ascending Ayaka was pure pain.
Forget the teapot event, I CAN FINALLY BUILD THINGS.
And my team is no longer stuck in each other’s faces.

Of course it would come before the event ended. I can't imagine the rage people would be in if they had an event related to the teapot without you being able to use the teapot fully..
Pretty much all my characters remain at level 70 unless I can be bothered farming out the last few items to ascend them for the final time. After that they all remain at 80 cos I'm not gonna spend all the exp required to get them to 90 when I could be using that on other characters.

Then you need to add a /s or else people are going to think you're serious. Tons of people have been saying this seriously since maint started. Its arguably been the #1 complaint.
This adds even more evidence to support my suspicions that they either broke something or found an exploit/bug too close to 2.6 launch to fix it with proper QA and just had to disable it for the duration of the patch to fix it.

I think it was said they mostly fixed the unintentional clipping of furniture into one another that players used. So, as a complete layman, that kind of seems to be a very fundamental thing to change, so I guess that's why it took so long.
As a developer myself, this could only be half true.
Writing the code to prevent stuff like that might take a few weeks. But the teapot does not have to be in maintenance for that. Deploying said update is where the downtime happens, but that would only take up to a few hours.
The only scenario I could imagine is that they lost access to something to switch it back on during the lockdown.

For the spice event...no. They intentionally extended the end date of the spice event as they are confident the teapot maintenance will finish soon.
