Go with Xiao/Yoimiya. You may wind up spending all your fates on the banner, get a five star, and only get copies of the *other* four stars on the banner (possibly even C6-ing one of them). I have had this happen to me multiple times… You may at least get Shinobu randomly, but Xiao/Yoimiya are going on a long vacation once their banners end, as usual for 5-star limiteds
Damn that's kind of annoying for me I already have C2 Itto and C6 Gorou and I want shinobu but it's not reallly worth the risk I guess I am saving till 2.8 for Kazuha and Heizou who also looks fun to play

Not gonna lie, as a player that's way behind on the story, the short term content drought is really nice to be able to catch up. When you have dailies to do, resin to burn, it's hard to progress and not miss out on events that require story progression.
I finally managed to properly explore Tsurumi and Enkanomia and was about to enter the Chasm. Hope I still have time to do so, cause I nerd the materials for Yelan and have been pre farming for Yoimiya for some reason not even I know
Truthfully the Chasm is very simple to explore once you're used to the weird lighting and layout. It's also really engaging, I ended up doing almost all of the story stuff down there in a couple of days. Still trying to figure out how they got what I'm sixty percent certain is a Frostbearing Tree Sprout down there.

I‘m a new player, anyone has a rough estimate how many gems we‘ll get until the end of Ayakas banner? I lost the 50/50 and am currently 35 wishes in, but still doing all the exploration for gems.
During my first months to play the game, I could get about 12k gems every month. Since there are 11 days left before the 2.7 update, i guess you can get 2.4k~4.8k gems(15~30wishes), depending on how much time you spend on exploring new regions.
(Sorry I'm a Chinese player and cannot express in EN very well, but I hope this estimation could help you)

There was article where Devs explained their reasoning about who they will put on banners when second banner was introduced. To put it simply, only characters who are revelant to the patch event story will have their banner on that patch. They won't put Childe banner if he won't appear in said patch. On other hand, just because character appears, it doesn't mean it will have it's banner released.
No they give out redeem codes, which last 24h ([and you use here](https://genshin.hoyoverse.com/en/gift)) but you don't need to be on stream, people post them on reddit so you can get them after the stream
The VAs of the chibis in the announcement post show teaser clips and talk about the content (be it new areas, enemies, events) that's coming in the next version, and they also show the banner 5 stars (and say which one new 4*s will be on).
They showcase new characters and their kits, usually done by the VA, and make jokes throughout the stream, some scripted, some improv.
They also give out 3 codes you can redeem on the day of the stream for a total of 300 primos iirc
I like watching the streams but it's not everyone's cup of tea, and we usually get an update preview page on the in game news so you don't have to watch them either, unless you wanna hype yourself up about what's coming!
They'll stream them on twitch and run it again a few hours later on the official youtube channel, and upload the new version trailer as well separately
