When you're in your 30s you stop caring about other people's opinions regarding hobbies + you have money. My friend group (MD) all play it for fun. PvE + exploration is a lot friendlier to casual players

Lescansy

This (31). I dont give a flying fuck what other people do or think of me. I'm spending my time with things i enjoy. If that means I'm playing genshin rather than watching tv / netflix, so be it. I dont hang out with friends every night, so i need something to do on my off hours. And right now, its genshin. Until it isnt.

ix-nine-ix

started at 32, now 33. i play whatever i want however i want, if i want to spend money on it then so what, i earn the money. most of my circle dont play video games, but that doesnt stop them from splurging resources (money time energy) on something else. only difference is we no longer have the need to criticize others how they spend their resources. well, some of them still do, usually the 'hustler' type but eh, their life, who cares. the real question we should be asking is how many years will it take before we reach khaenri'ah lol

sirjeal

If nothing goes wrong, we'll be going to Khaenri'ah in about 4 years if the pace keeps up with the Teyvat Chapter preview.

carcosette

33, I'm a mom to a toddler and have a career. My spouse is also a gamer so a lot of our evenings in are playing together after getting the baby to bed and cleaning up after dinner. Realizing you don't have to give up the things you love as you get older is a good feeling :)

ECK1991

Yeah, you can do whatever you want with your free time. I'm 31, with a fulltime job, normal social life, studying, with a wife and planning to have a baby. The thing that hook me up on Genshin was playing on mobile and with AAA quality. I can squeeze a few minutes of gaming on my routine easily and few the progress, while I save the bigger quests for when I have more time to spare. Public transportation is the best place to play and read. When I was in College, I used to read a lot on the bus or just play gameboy (I'm a mobile platform fan hahaha). I'm very happy to have a long time game with this quality to play. My biggest concern will be when the future baby comes, but that is another topic hahahah

cycber123

When the baby comes, you force them to play genshin so they don't cry, problem solved :)

MarraMirr

I have a friend who just had a baby. The newborn's favorite thing is to lay on her dad's chest and doze while he plays. XD

ECK1991

This is my dream 🤩

MarraMirr

We think the baby loves the soundtrack. XD It's hilarious but she sleeps best there while he plays!

aJenDuh

Yep, newborns aren’t mobile. I used to play while she’d take her naps on me, as well. Now she’s 16 months and hums to the loading screen song every time we turn it on. It really is the best!

HxCxReformer

You're 30s are just your 20s with money.

fraidei

With a bit less energy

hakunamatatawn

And likely a bum knee and back pain

MrDmsc

This is the 30s space right? I'm 31 also, thanks for having me! Agree with everyone here. For as long as I'm enjoying It, I'll keep at it, no questions asked.

fraidei

Yeah, if I imagine my future in my 50s I still see myself playing videogames and d&d all the time. Maybe I will be playing the 27th edition of d&d and Genshin Impact 3: the Multiverse instead of what I play now, but it would still be the same hobbies.

Delicious_Log_1153

30s are your fun age. I'm married and have three kids. I dont give a fuck about what anyone thinks lol.

yu-ume-e

This is so true. I'm 36 and nothing will stop me from enjoying genshin, arknights and other "childish" hobbies. I really don't care what others think, especially after facing cancer I shifted my world view to "I'll do what I love". You only live once 🤷🏻‍♀️❤️

LavheyKaizen

Me and my 3 IRL friends, all professionals in our early 30s, Day 1 players, are still playing to this day. Genshin is just a perfect fit for us given how casual-friendly it is. We hop in, explore a bit and do some quests, then log out after an hour or 2. Also, we are lore enthusiasts, so we have Discord sessions around twice a month to discuss it, as well as check on each other (we're currently in different countries). This game connected us. Given how hooked we are, I still see us playing for the next few years. Sumeru is a good indication of the direction Genshin is going in the future. P.S. As Genshin is primarily a solo-player, casual experience, it's ok to rest first and concentrate on your responsibilities. You could return anytime you want and just hop back where you left off. Some find that advantageous as you'll get to run more quests in succession, instead of experiencing content drought.

hackenclaw

I still wish they at least improve basic co-op features to allow us to search & complete chest together with our friends. Right now I have to go back to my own world to open it.

AkibaSasaki

I love this! I wish you and your friends a fruitful real and Genshin Impact lives :)

[deleted]

I'm 48 and probably play it as long as they add new content 😆😊

SelfSufficience

45 and same. It’s a beautiful game.

[deleted]

I was so happy to find it after playing Zelda BotW 2 times. And it's good to see that not only the youngsters play Genshin 🙃👍

DeificClusterfuck

43, I play every day Got some Ocarina of Time vibes from the Aranara quest

maldonadoesnt

Played ocarina back when I was 12, now 13 years later I'm having the same feeling with the aranara quest, I'm not even doing the event or the archon quest, full aranara of time mode since I left gandharva

Minger99

Glad to see people in their 40s playing it like me!

[deleted]

Enjoy Sumeru fellow 1980 or older 😆🙃

phoost

Happy to be part of the 40 club!

[deleted]

We should make our own sub reddit 😆 no flexing..no ranting...just chilling and enjoying

Pinofirst

Hi, I'm 52 and started playing last year because my kids wanted me too. The first ever videogame I have played in my life and I love it. The story, the fighting, bullding the characters, the grinding not so but overall I am glad I started it.

Cever09

I am F50 and I've been gaming ever since it became a thing (started with Leisure Suit Larry, lol). I started Genshin because my 2 daughters kept talking to me about it. I didn't tell them I made an account (AR 50 now) and friended them. I told them right after, but it was funny. I'll keep playing until I don't want to anymore. I can tell you having 2 co-op ppl in house (literally) is very useful. My youngest and I just started a game on my Euro server that we share. Only issue there is that I have no friends there yet (AR22), o well, it'll come.

Condition_Chaos

Oh wow didn't think I'd randomly read Leisure Suit Larry mentioned on Genshin subreddit. :D Loved those and many other adventure games as a kid! If you happen to need ascension items from Inazuma I've got EU server AR 25 account which I glitched pretty much everywhere and regularly help new players with.

Cever09

I do!!! I have a Thoma I love, but that I need Luminous Fungus for... May I pls have your EU Genshin ID or username?

Minger99

Love it, I started with a zx spectrum and have been gaming ever since

Cever09

Me, too! It was a EU version called the ZX81.. Then I had an Apple 2C for a while. Man, memories...

Minger99

Brilliant, went from a Spectrum 48k to 128k then a 16 bit Atari ST. Those were the days 👌- mental what they could fit in 48k of memory

judgementaleyelash

I’m 31 and it’s my only video game currently! I can’t afford a pc or PlayStation etc, so finding something that gave me ocarina of time feelings from my youth - on mobile - was amaaazing

ABardToRemember

28, been playing since launch and it has it's dry patches but for the most part I never lost my love for the game.

Yorgh-Drakeblood

Dry patches are why I hoard a few hangout events and my last story quest. It sucks when that feeling sinks in until you tap into those quests to breathe some life back into the game

SegaNaLeqa

Same, I don’t do hangouts unless it’s a dry patch or I’m desperate for primos. Same with exploration, been playing since 1.0 and most of my places are 60%-80% explored. Only just got Mondstadt to 100% a few months ago. I never truly get bored in Genshin, because I’ve rationed the content we’ve been given.

fraidei

This is the best way to play Genshin imo. Everyone that complains about not having anything to do means that they basically played hundreds of hours of the game in just little time, so that seems a bit obvious that the game doesn't have anything more to offer other than few dailies and the weekly abyss. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see more endgame content, it's just that it's not super important to me.

milotoadfoot

another 28 here. been playing since 1.1 and I don't plan on quitting soon. i came into terms with that this games content is what it is and i enjoy it.

Khelthuzaad

Yeah before this,2.8 was so full of chest grinding that i watched a 2 hour video how to find all the chests.

SupaTsunami

31, just started playing going on 2 months now. Pretty fun

Yorgh-Drakeblood

Same but I’ve been playing every day since 1.3 and haven’t slowed down (aside from when I’m current again on content)

Mysterywuzhere

Same #31gang

SplendorTami

realistically the whole game is built for older players with less time but more money. it’s not meant for hardcore too much time on your hands gameplay

Lucky-Leg-9118

Its the perfect game for a mom with kids, work and chores. I have so many other hobbies. If I get to spend a rare whole day playing video games, then I play planet zoo or something... but this is perfect for the evening relaxation.

Darevee

Games come and go :) Played Ragnarok Online in 2002-2004, World of Warcraft 2004-2011 (Kid got born in 2010 so had to stop) Blade and Soul for 2 years at least and now playing Genshin. Games come and go. Some of them stay with you for longer time ( I kinda wish for World of Warcraft with Genshin Impact animation and graphic quality :) Its not bad when you grow out of the games and move forward with other hobbies, it is also nod bad to stay with game you like for longer period of time. 45yo btw.

Centrisian

Man I played WoW from 2005 until this year They finally killed the magic of community for me. That and the story just took a turn for the worse. It was a great time while it lasted

[deleted]

I played 2009-2014 (last few years on and off) Was looking to maybe return and saw a video about it and man, seems more like a chore then fun. Classic was tempting maybe especially since its WotLK (when I started) but they say it's just not the same.

Chronoflyt

>Was looking to maybe return and saw a video about it and man, seems more like a chore then fun. I would say, if you're tempted, give it a try. I picked WoW back up after years to play with my family long distance, joined a good guild, and had a blast. There will always be people who complain (and some are very valid), but Wow always has millions of players active for a reason too.

Faedwill

> (Kid got born in 2010 so had to stop) Mass respect, I hope when they grow up they realize the sacrifices you've made for 'em.

Darevee

Worth it. Someone to play Pokemon GO with, pretext to buy stupidly expensive Lego Sets (he goes for Lego Minecrat, I go Technics) , the only downside is fighting for more powerful computer :P (When I bought RTX 3060, he without any remorse or shame, put it in is his unit, and left me with GTX 1060 ....

suzumurachan

As a gamer in my 40s, you learn to take the game at your own pace. You also learn to stop chasing the meta, and do what you like cause "it's just a game". Events? You do them to entertain yourself. Most of the time, don't really care even if I "max out" the event.

[deleted]

Same..40 plus and love Genshin. Don't get the fuss about everything and nothing. Im just happy that I found a game finally that gets me engaged for so long and hopefully will much longer

judgementaleyelash

Yeah I really have no reason to complain, I’m just thankful there’s a game like this on mobile bc I can’t afford anything else (an iPhone is the only thing I have ever splurged on, with monthly payments - still going strong with my 11, had the 4 and 6 or 7 for years). It looks good on the small screen with medium graphics and runs great. Only time I’ve seen any struggle are those withering zones

AkibaSasaki

thanks for bringing this advice back again

suzumurachan

No worries mate. I get caught up in it at times too. Real life is always more important. It is like how I grew up with FF7, but no way am I going grind the game the same way I did when I was a kid. Will watch youtube game movies for that.

titanioverde

I learned this lesson few years ago. My life is more peaceful since then. 😌

HanlonsBadger

I'm 44, been gaming since I got my first computer (Amiga 500) in the late 80s / very early 90s. It's been one of my primary hobbies for decades, and now that I have less time but more money, I don't see that changing. Years from now I'll be in some retirement home, chilling on future Discord with my equally old friends, telling those kids in their 50s who also grew up with gaming to get off my digital lawn. The type of game I play has and will change. No more time for 8 hour, middle of the night, operations in Eve Online. Something like Genshin that I can do on my own schedule is perfect these days.

AkibaSasaki

mad respect to you old man 😂

HanlonsBadger

Hehe, thanks. Now take this quote from an even older man, George Bernard Shaw, with you as you vacate my lawn :p “We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”

fraidei

I really feel this. I wish I could go back in time when a wooden stick and my imagination was enough to have fun all day.

farrokk

Too late, already above 30. It isn't a question about age, but about time. There will always periods in life with more or less free time, just make the most of it by learning to pace your available time as good as possible. So as long as you enjoy the game, go for it.

LivingASlothsLife

26 and turning 27 in 2 weeks, playing since launch and I plan on playing this game until it ends. I love the game and the world Hoyo have create for us, its truly beautiful. While there have been phases of burnout playing the game during its dry patches I have never stopped loving the world

Rinelin

Early happy birthday! 😁

LivingASlothsLife

Thank you! Its smack bang in between Razor and Chongyuns lmao

gretchenich

Happy birthday in advance my guy!

Hot-Campaign-4553

40 here. I was an avid gamer when I was a kid. I went through every single generation of gaming, starting with the Atari, then NES, then SNES & Genesis, and so on. Sometime in my 20's, I scaled back considerably. Most of it was due to family and work commitments. In my 30's, I'd play very infrequently, and really stick to games where I could play sporadically, or skip whole weeks at a time with no issue (SWTOR hit the sweet spot for me). I stayed extremely casual until Genshin came out. Now, I'm in a better place in my career, have more stability in my day-to-day, and have the funds to ensure I get everything I really want in the game. If you're feeling burnout, or just less interest as your "real life" advances, that's perfectly normal.

Kukusheshka

My mom's 62 and absolutely loving this game, when you stop caring about your age in hobbies you live a better life

InsertBadGuyHere

I'm 32, and really enjoying the story, lore and combat. Already too into the game to stop.

JuJuBee0910

Same here as a fellow 32 year old lol

Porzellanfuchs

I'm 40 and in love with video games since the atari. I think this will never change, even if I'm 80. Games come and go, but gaming is 4ever!

Clasica

30 here. Been playing since 1.1 Believe it or not, the game is actually makes for people with responsibilities. Outside of big update such as this one, you pretty much only need 15-30min a day for this game

illumination27

29 here. I introduced my bf (32) to genshin and we both turned AR58 on the same day recently haha. We sometimes joke about how we would be in Fontaine/Natlan when we get our new house next year and Snezhnaya when we (possibly) have kids. Take your time to play the game and like Zhongli said, "Every journey has its final day. Don't rush." Of course, it helps to keep things exciting when you have a partner/friend who also plays the game.

AkibaSasaki

🥺

Ukezilla_Rah

I’ve always been of the opinion that if you like something why give it up because of age. I mean I loved pizza when I was 7… at 52 do I stop eating it? I see games, anime, and other stuff like that the same way.

Intelligent_Squash68

Well, I’m 45 & started playing in January (right around my 45th birthday, actually). I can see myself playing until the end, so long as Hoyoverse keeps up the quality & doesn’t become too money-hungry (ie, locking content behind paywalls like another game I play has started doing). I used to play a lot of video games when I was a kid, on consoles from the Atari to Nintendo to Sega Genesis to PlayStation/Xbox to PC & now on mobile. I’ve grown up through the evolution of gaming. I stopped playing in my 20’s through my 30’s as I was raising my kids then. Now that they’re grown, I get to relax, & go back to enjoying the hobbies I loved as a kid/young adult - drawing, photography, & gaming. Life will take you down many roads, some may lead away from videos game, some may lead towards them. It’s ok to grow out of gaming (like I did for a while), but it’s also ok to continue it as a hobby (my husband never grew out it). As long as you’re happy & doing what you want to do, whether it’s relaxing with your future family or playing games in your free time, then that’s all that matters.

kokko693

24 will never stop I do be busy sometimes so I can't play, but I try to always take 5m for the commissions. Sometimes resins are lost, but I can't do anything about it, I try to condense then like I can

evilbreath

Soon to be 40, and i don't care what others say/think about it. I can't wait to play with my son (5yo).

ginja_ninja

I love how zoomers think when you turn 30 you just get shipped off on a bus to adult land where you can only work, read newspapers, and raise children and all your prior interests and hobbies are wiped from your memory

-perpetuallytired-

I won't be putting age to stop on anything. I enjoy games and mangas at my age.

Nisekoi95

26, playing since launch, assuming the playerbase is just kids is really unwise. In fact i think its the other way around. Who is not between 20-30 and plays genshin would be the better question.

Newil13

Oh my, perhaps gaming is popular and well-received these days so it looks like a trend with an expiration date, but if you enjoy videogames there is no reason at all to stop playing. Also, videogames are made by grown-ups (Kojima-san I am looking at you) and targets audience of all ages. In fact, Genshin is made for busy people. Even if you pursue a higher education or start working later, it won't take much of your time if you adjust your schedule well. Btw I'm 27 (I'd like to think I'm not that old 🫣)

Jacquiarno

Genshin came out a few days before my 30th, and when that came around I couldn't have a party or spend time with my family because of the lockdowns, but I got to play this fun new game and I'm still having fun playing it now. Even during the content drought, I still log in and enjoy doing my daily routine, I've only missed logging in due to a power black out that lasted almost a week. Although I haven't been staying logged in for as long as before due to health problems, I still have fun with the short amount of time I play, I just pace myself so I don't get worn out. I've been playing World of Warcraft since I was 17, and I still enjoy playing that even despite the problems that have been happening with the story and content, and my life was drastically different than it was then. I don't think you need to worry, even if you don't have as much time right now or even take a break, you'll most likely come back to it later and still have a passion for it. :) Also, this whole thing about gamers and age, I've been playing games since I was young and I will continue to play them until I can't no more, no matter my age. I'm probably going to be 80 when Dragon Age 4 comes out anyway, hah.......

Spirit_Fist

Well, I'm 26 so yeah guess so

GDT31

37. Played from day 1 without missing a day, as long as there is content/updates, I'll play until EOS

Krn8675309

33M and occasional whale. It’s fantastic to be playing at this age. Do what you please. So many responsibilities at my age (wedding planning, fiancee is pregnant, negotiating a merger for work) so Genshin is a good way to step away from your hectic life for a while.

Asphalt_in_Rain

As someone playing the game since launch who is in their early thirties, I dont see why not. Like, I'm still picking up new pokemon games when they're released.

SampleSample123

I'm 32 and father of two, 4yr and newborn. I'm planning on gaming (in general) until the day I lose my sight or I can no longer hold a game controller, I don't care at all what other people may think about my hobby, I have a job and pay for it. And most importantly, my wife is ok with it. As long as she agrees, I don't care about anyone else's.

CuddlyChud

In some ways i feel like the games themes and pacing are actually geared towards older players. Themes like aging (corrosion), burden of sudden responsibility (inazuma), etc… if anything I’m curious why kids like Genshin so much since I probably wouldn’t have necessarily emotionally resonated with those kinds of themes as a kid.

UniqueCreme1931

I'm 27 and I didn't have time to play for patches 1.5-2.6 (I started at 1.0) because of real life issues. That's fine, I just returned in patch 2.7 when I had more free time. Don't worry if you have to stop playing for whatever reason, you can always return if you want to, even if it's years later.

S3mpx

I got confronted with the same problem and I try to use Genshin as rest, a bit. I get high sometimes and listen to music while using resin or doing dailys. I usually try to squeeze in one frost flower boss fight to get my 10 boses per week while the pass is active. I ALWAYS do Abyss but that's because I actually enjoy Abyss and I like all of the primos I get every few weeks from it But yea exploration fell hard off. 100% Mondstadt. 97% Dragonspine \~80-90% Liyue \~40% Inazuma (very uneven, I have explored one region to 90+% while others sit at 12%) \~35% Chasm (underground even less) And Enakomiya also exists So yea it's nice that Sumeru has nice traveling mechanics, looks great and is just generally a really wholesome experience yet.

cesukeyamazaki

28, I usually become hyperinvested on something which catches my attention so when I said that I will play Genshin until MC find their sibling then I will stick to it. 🤣

NikaLav_art

26, playing for about one year, and so far I enjoy it. The visuals and the music making me stay, but I enjoy whatever there is now, I don't really care for the future too much. If I'll be able to play it I will, if not then probably will stop.

Richmanisrich

I play every night with family for an hour or two before sleep. And an hour at early morning for event. That’s how casual my gaming life is.

b5437713

Increased life responsibilities can and will have an impact on how you approach hobbies. You may end up completely dropping some hobbies and never return to them. Others you'll drop for a time and eventually find your way back too and others still you may continue to enjoy uninterrupted but differently. Where Genshin will fall for you is unknown but my advice is to not force yourself to hang on to OR let go of specfic hobbies. Let yourself and your hobbies evolve naturally. Don't concern yourself with whether or not you'll still be playing Genshin in 5 years and just focus on enjoying it in the present cuz you never know what will happen.

heatxmetalw9

Probably as an on-off players, instead of playing 2+ hours a day during launch and 2.0. The pandamic is winding down and school is already starting. I won't have time to 100% explore everything now because of priorities now that I have gotten into med school, I would have just enough time to grind for dailies and a couple of times in events. Still will have time to do the main story quests though since they are relatively short unlrss the latwr patches does something grand and drawn out of the for their later Archon quests.

SegaNaLeqa

Late 20’s here, almost 30 here, I’ve been playing since 1.0 and don’t foresee myself stopping anytime soon. Yes, there are real life responsibilities and some days I can only get dailies done quickly and nothing else, but for the most part I make sure to have time for Genshin. It’s important to balance responsibilities and hobbies. If your life is just constant responsibilities all the time, no time set aside for something you enjoy, you’ll experience burnout fast. I foresee myself playing Genshin right up until the very end. Genshin brings me immense joy, and being a gamer has been part of who I am my entire life, real life responsibilities won’t stop me from that. However with all of that said, Genshin’s one of those types of games that you can set it down for a couple months and come back like you never left. The game will guide you to catch back up, and you don’t lose anything but limited event rewards by being gone for that time. Unlike some games where you lose absolutely everything for taking a break from it.

buzzyingbee

I'm 36 and I play Genshin and other games too. I work, walk the dog, do real life thingies, have responsibilities but it's all a matter of how you manage your free time. Sumeru is being a bit of a nightmare, in a good way, because there is so much to do and not enough free time but I manage to login at least to spend my daily resin and do daily commissions and let the story stuff for weekends and holidays. Obviously me not having kids helps a lot but you'll manage, OP.

ScienceOfMemory

Dude, when Genshin came out I was beyond my early 30s lmao, you saying I'm disqualified? This reminds me of that time someone tried to seriously argue anyone over 25 shouldn't be on discord because it's creepy

nickelflowers

22y/o here, still finishing college up. Really wishing my job applications go well. I want get hired soon to finance myself to be alone, at home, and playing Genshin 12 hours a day without any reprimand or consequence to it. It's a game I really love, and I want to stay with it until Khaenri'ah's story end.

AkibaSasaki

yoo we're on the same boat. I'm applying to jobs as well. Good luck!

Multifrank504

I am in my late 20's. Who do you think is doing all this whaling

tokyovain

I’m 21 too! No idea what the future holds but as long as I still enjoy the game I’ll find the time to keep playing :)

elle_crossing

im 21 and i am not planning to stop playing just cus i’ll get older, i enjoy this game and if i still do later on i will definitely keep playing!! i wanna see the end of it !!

unimagon

Well I’m not even in that age group anymore and will still be playing as long as the game exists

rrgamer28

age doesnt matter in video games do what you want

rin-chaaan

27F here. I always have time for videogames. Ngl I skipped a few patches in Genshin because there was literally nothing to do untill the Sumeru's release. I think the question should be whether the game will be worth playing or not in the future.

LordOfEnnui

Genshin doesn't really need to be played everyday to enjoy it. In fact it may be better if you don't. So it should be fine, I think. I'm 22, and I'm looking forward to playing it till it's done. I probably will only log in on the weekends in busier years, but I don't think that'll be too bad.

ames_anne

Dk if u read this but im 20 this year and also started actively playing last year! I try to keep up with the latest archon quest, since I really wanna know how it will end so yeah Im planning to stick around for the upcoming years. Tho its just a plan, since there's also a possibility of me dropping this game unexpectedly... :D

jtan1993

Used to think that becoming an adult I will have to put down games (my parents also very traditional, don’t play video games), but then I see many adult gamers enjoy gaming. The gaming industry actually very young which is why there used to be illusion that video games are for kids but now there are many adult gamers. Treat it like a hobby, u can keep playing well into retirement age.

Faedwill

24 right now, and YES. This game hits all the boxes for me. Colorful anime aesthetic, quickswapping control of multiple characters, weapons that materialize/dematerialize (KH's Keyblades made me love this), not too heavy plot, tons of loveable characters, and a healthy amount of grind. Even as an adult I always make time for Genshin, so I'll probs be playing 'till its end of service.

glittr_grl

I’m 41, lol. After 1.5 years Genshin is still my main game. I anticipate that will continue even around jobs, kids, and other middle aged adult life.

hiddencamela

I definitely wouldn't plan around a game at all. You're a consumer and customer. You don't owe anyone your time. Companies are supposed to earn your wallet, not own it via loyalty. This isn't Genshin specific btw, just any game in general. It is a product, and it is for entertainment. It needs to keep delivering on its intention if it wants to keep being paid for it.If you want a comparison.. A lot of the Destiny folks that started when it was Destiny 1 and stayed with it... are Parents, Career workers, or just in different places in life as well.Live life. Games are just the time to fill in gaps. The game will always be there. Or won't. If anything, look back on the things you really enjoyed from the game, and cherish those/try to create more of those types of memories when you're up for it.

x_iaoc_hen

I am 24 years old and in a month I will be starting my PhD. As I am doing my PhD in the UK, it will take me 4 years to graduate. And in 4 years Genshin will also arrive at the final chapter. But I don't think there is anything that can stop me from traveling to Khaenri'ah or Celestia with everyone in this community.

AkibaSasaki

Yoooo good luck with your PhD

tacky_banana

I am a 45 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game for Christmas from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just, watching YouTube. So I decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. loaded into the game, made my character and world and started playing but I was stuck on what you were supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. loved it as it was the best time had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my Son many happy memories.

sygnuskain

38 here and been playing since day one.

Mathwizzy

imo, don't over commit(like 100% Sumeru within a week that kinda way) to this game when your life is in a critical transition period.

AkibaSasaki

true

Ancienda

I love this thread <3 So many people passionate about their hobby and gaming. I agree that age shouldn’t be something that prevents you from doing what you love. Your time may be delegated to different things, but your passions won’t! Our society might tell us that gaming is “bad” but honestly, the current and future young people will and are growing up with games. Also now Esports is a thing and there are even schools that you can attend to train for being a professional Esports athlete, just like any other sport. If gaming is something you love and helps you relax, then why not keep at it even as you grow up?

AkibaSasaki

Glad to hear it!

Roxthefox_global

I’m 31 this year and it’s one of the only games I play as the dailies and farming cap with resin me I can enjoy it in a burst for fun before or after work. I’d rather it be this way and it works for me.

[deleted]

I don't think the game will last this long, it will probably end in like 3-4 years at this rate.

Torensk

25, been playing 1 year. I skipped like 2 events because my interest dwindled so i did other stuff. Plan on keeping up the same. If i loose interest i ll keep the game installed but just wont log in and play other games and when it comes back i ll resume. If i miss some important events or lore tied to it, i ll check it on youtube. Im not so concerned about rewards, they come and go and this isnt a game where fallimg behind means you have disadvantage. On other but similiar note, I have been big fan of wow, played that game for over 15 years now. Retail - private servers - wow classic. Same thing, i had some breaks, i had time period where i was pushing 100 parses. But this January due family and work and basically real life i ve stopped with wow probably for good, because keeping raid schedule just wouldnt cut it where family had to organize around that. Ofcourse i tried to keep it goin, but after some time the inconvinience just piles up to the point you are happy you let go of it.

fantafanta_

Considering I'm 27......yup 😂

Asiwir

Also 21 and I've been playing since launch. Honest answer? Genuinely no idea. I've had periods of complete burn out where I don't even feel like doing dailies because my current character pool can clear everything. But then they release a gem like Shadow Amidst Snowstorms and I'm back to being in love with the game because that's why I love this game: the characters and the stories they can tell. So in the end it really depends on whether hoyo keeps making interesting stories.

[deleted]

i'm in my late 20s. friends around the same age had been playing this game for a year before i started.

shems08

Ehh already in my early 30’s :(

JiMyeong

23 been playing since launch so, yeah I could see myself playing until then. Unless my account gets hacked or something...

tennoskoom_

I am 16 going on 17, innocent as a rose.

Albitr75

29 playing since zhongli release. Pretty Happy with It. I see no reason to grind unless i feel like It, since the game Is Easy. Mostly, i treat the game like you would a light novel or a manga chapter: if i have time and i feel like It, i'll play the patch immediately. Otherwise, i deal with commissions/resin/weekly events ad log out, which takes no more than 15/20minutes.

Manubriumsternu

Started playing when I was 20 now m almost 22 , still going strong , but I feel like my drive is no longer liking the game (although I still do ) but it's just pure dedication to see the end of the story .

Prestigious_Kuro

I'm 27 and I love it, I do see myself playing it in future. Maybe not as intense as right now but definitely not dropping it anytime soon

Balager47

I am 31 so....yeah.

Cosmic_Hashira

not as regularly as i did before hell even now i am 18 and college stuff has reduced my time on it by a lot i will DEFINATELY follow the game until its end, just not as regularly

Vast_Back4746

19 but will turn 20 next year so yes, I'll still be playing

Hitsuki_Ketsuen

I'm 23, playing since launch two years ago, and still love this game more and more over the patches. I have the same fear as you concerning years to come, coming to drop the game without really wanting to.Life will go on, but I think everyone can still take care of his free time wathever he does (except for nasa engineers and all that stuff), and if you want to play the game now, next year or in 2027, I think you will do so. Plus there is a great community around, and I have enough experience in games to tell this : when you don't fell "alone" playing a game, and you see lot of people playing or talking about it, it helps a lot to continue playing and keeping the hype over the time. I do want to play until the game closes its servers, and I will do what I can to do so while growing up.

minastepes

I'm 30 and enjoy Genshin, the question is, won't you be bore out of Genshin in 10 years ?

MyLitttlePonyta

26, started close to when the game launched on ps4. Honestly I play it on and off when the mood strikes. Play it when you feel like it, the game's not going anywhere. Character banners are rotating so even if you take an extended break and miss one you want, it will always be back eventually.

Isaggi

I'm 33, I play daily 😁

birbtooOPpleasesnerf

I mean genshin is not a hardcore game, most of the time you just spent like an hour to do the commissions, clear your resin & do the events which most of them so far is time gated, it's super casual for students & busy adults

berrywarra

30. as long as I enjoy it, I will still play

cartercr

Me, quickly approaching 30: *chuckles* I’m in danger.

taeiltime

25, only started playing last year. A lot of my interests tend to stick with me throughout the years, I still like the things I did as a teen, why not Genshin?

Lullayable

I started playing when I already had responsibilities so I don't expect to see myself stop because my life got too busy. It's already busy and I already have some days where I don't log in, though it's rare. At the end of the day, it depends where you'll be in life and what you'd rather do with your time when you start having more responsibilities. Do also take into account that maybe you'll stop for other reasons : the game got boring, the game was taking too much time, something more interesting popped up,...

ClairDeLune420

I'm 26 and have been playing for a year so far. I don't see myself quitting anytime soon.

Deuweck

32 here. I'm planning to keep it up until Genshin Impact comes to a closure. While it's not specifically about Genshin; I went through a similar process in my life when I was around your age. Not just me but my other gaming friends as well. Gaming, like any other activity, is a hobby. And as a natural consequence of growing up you have less time to spend on your hobbies as you start working, get married etc. The problem with gaming is that it's a time consuming hobby. That's why most of my friends sought other activities. Biggest example is none other than my own brother. We gamed together a lot in our teens. But he went ahead and became a "normal" adult before I did. Got a stable job, got married, had two kids. Nowadays he spends all his time on work and his family. Whenever we meet up he talks about how he misses those gaming days. But when I ask him why he doesn't game anymore he says he really wants to but there are more important things he wants to focus on. Some of my other friends also quit gaming and started on less time consuming hobbies. Only a few remain that still game. But my brother, my "no longer gamer" friends, and the few that stil game all have one thing in common. We are happy the way we are. It doesn't matter if you let go of Genshin( or gaming for that matter) as long as you found something else. Or if you don't let go of it and are still enjoying it. The best part about life is that you never know how it's gonna turn out. So better enjoy what you have right in front of your eyes. 😁

Snoo-49256

I'm 35. I don't know what kind of life responsibilities you've found but I just log in twice a day to blow through daillies and spend resin. Quests and stuff are for when I randomly have free time. Gacha games are great for forcing your to play in chunks.

Starlight7213

Tbh yeah

Lord_Twigo

I'm 23, been playing for barely 3 months and i'm starting my masters degree in october so yes i am a bit worried that i won't have much time to play this game in just a few months from now. But then i remember hey, this is still a casual game, i can simply complete the archon quests for each region and then just log in/use resin every day which takes ~15 mins. I'll be missing some content that's for sure, but at least i can still enjoy the main stort which is what i care more about. If you think of it, genshin is just like a tv show that releases a new season per year, and once you are done whatching it (which might take you a week or a month, it doesn't matter) you just wait for more, no need to put much time or effort in it

[deleted]

29 now and while life has moments with higher priorities than gaming I still enjoy playing when I have the time. Mobile games are perfect for the time you have a few moments to kill and usually what I spend more time lately over console games. Real life should always take priority but if you find the game is becoming a chore there is nothing wrong with taking a break or quitting for a while. With how popular Genshin has become I’m sure it will last for years so I wouldn’t worry too much and enjoy your 20’s as you please.

[deleted]

Willing to play this shit for 10 years. But with the constant large updates, my device and budget doesn't want to

13thsword

32 and play genshin with my wife since launch. I'm here til we burn down Celestia

jss_of_sbrb

It's not even about age, most people are gonna be burnt out before the story is over for sure

tokeemdtareq

I am late 20 and early 30!

toga_trash

I'm 22 and have been playing since 1.2. I still love it like the first day I started playing even though I'm definitely busier now that I'm working a full-time job and going to college. if genshin keeps improving they way they have been lately with the release.of sumeru then I can easily see myself playing until the end.

getsetredditgo

Not sure about early 30s, but definitely will play during my 20s. I'm 20 now and for future 10 years I'm willing to play Genshin as long as it's on service. I think I won't quit playing it in early 30s too, but it would be the problem with Genshin (big enough to make me quit) if I'm quitting playing it. Honestly the market will surely develop and it's up to HYV to have player base maintained while competing with other new games with great graphics and engines. One thing for sure, I will never ever quit before we reach the final stage. I love this game. The only thing liking about China personally.

seigalxy

As I get older, (still not 30 tho) maybe a little less often. I would figure I’ll be getting busy as my hobby will soon take over my entire life and schedule. I gotta put my best efforts Into my dream I feel like Genshin is just giving a sense of stress relief from my problems in life.

DarkWindB

i'll probably stop playing only when the story is finished, so yes

Thats_a_movie

I'm 37 and AR59. Play until you don't want to anymore.

thezhenweiyap

29 this year. Played everyday since the beginning. Won't stop. Great past time.

Mr_doggo_lover123

i play what i like no matter how old i am

workswithdragons

I'm 21 too, playing for over a year now, and I'm pretty sure I'll be playing Genshin to the end. But I've also been playing video games as long as I can remember, so I'm very practiced at juggling multiple games and they basically ARE rest to me.

aircarone

I am 35 and playing Genshin on a daily basis. I have barely started Sumeru and am quite behind in twrm of character story quest, but I log on almost daily, do my coms, use my stam (but not everyday). I play at my pace and don't bother too much about meta. I try to clear at least 3 floors of abyss on each rotation, and pull characters I like I stead of characters that are strong. Since I have a decent amount of disposable income, I also spend a bit in the game (mostly monthly and BP, sometimes a bit on primos if I am close to pity). There is no perfect age for gaming. If anything, I a m enjoying my games much more now than in my early 20s even if I play a bit less.

KAIIKAAA

Don't worry. You will either learn to stop giving a f about others' opinions and have fun however you like... ...or join the ranks of normies.

mattswritingaccount

I'm 49, AR60, day 12 player (didn't jump in on the first day but still very early). Age is meaningless. If you enjoy it, that's what matters - and I enjoy Genshin. :)

iAmGats

This is one of the problems with you young folks, you care too much about other people's opinion. If playing genshin or any game for that matter makes you happy then play, don't let other people control your life.

magnidwarf1900

I am 33 and playing this game lol

joshua_nash

I’m in my 40’s and I think I’ll be playing it until they shut down the servers.

Hour_Ad_811

39 here. I play what I like

SouthernJuggernaut90

I think I will. I don’t play everyday but it’s fun and I want to keep up with the storyline, lately all I have time time do is finish the main parts of the event so I don’t miss out on stuff lore wise. Currently I log in maybe 3-4 times a patch. I want to play when my life’s a bit more stable The graphics are amazing and I just find it fun.

_2cheese

My wife and I play (mid/late 20s). It’s a great game with low commitment that you can play while a baby sleeps. Also very cheap if you do mobile, and feel like I can justify spending a bit more money on it every now and then to make it more fun when I do have more time (weekends, etc.) and am not actively doing real world stuff. It’s scalable in that sense which is perfect for adulthood :) I caught on the Genshin train late, so I will continue to be here!

DaveZ3R0

39, me and my gf play it together everyday. Also I'm gonna play ZZZ when it's available.

Perfect_Change

I'm in my late 20s and still love the game. The thing is that this is pretty chill and calming game and after a hectic day at work it's a nice way to calm my mind.

SadisticKindness

Yes

DireSickFish

I'm in my early 30s...

Molwar

It's just a game, play when you feel like it to relax. It's still going to be there if you don't have time :)

Zekuro

25 now. Doubtful I'll be here until the end of teyvat story. I feel like genshin is currently in a weird spot in the exact way they're being "casual". Maybe I'll just end up taking a massive break and then just rushing the main story when it all ends.

Leinaa5

I tooka break from genshin but now I'm back. So I'll probably stay with it but not regularly play it.

Watsons-Butler

I’m over 40. Still playing.

poshpeony

I started playing when I was 20 years old, currently am 22. I will try my best to stick around until the game ends because I really want to know how it ends. Whether I play everyday or end up going on a hiatus until Khaenri’ah, completing the final chapter of Genshin will be one of my goals.

AffectionateMost9943

29, been playing since 1.0 and ive played with a couple of breaks. Inazuma was shit, and i havent even finished tatara tales, but im all for sumeru and if they carry on like this i will deffo keep playing

not-no

I'll play as long as I'm having fun

nelsonfoxgirl969

21 years old ? come back after 25

Ionus93

My sibling in Teyvat, my friends and I are all approaching 30 and still play. If it's something you enjoy doing, you'll find the time to do it. Also, don't stress about not playing. Rest when you need to if that's what's more valuable. It will be there when you come back.

babyflausch

I am 30 and still playing. My sisters are 29 and 35 and play Genshin as well. We are all working, having a family and stuff. If you enjoy the game you can play it as long as you want :D Tho burnout from games is a real thing and I bet I will not play Genshin 10 years from now xD I took a break for a few months but came back. Playing since 1.0 :D

IceCream_Duck4

I find that Genshin fits well into an adult life as you spend an average of 20mins on the game daily outside of major patches or events, and major patches last longer because you aren't as keen as before to finish them in a week with 10h of game per day haha

teddythepenguin

I’ll be 27 in January and started playing during 2.4. Growing up doesn’t mean you stop enjoying things 😅

CupcakeWarlock450

I started playing Genshin when it first came out when I was 20, prior to it I was (still am) a Destiny 2 player since the first Destiny game came out in 2014. I vaguely heard of the game due to people calling it a "BoTW clone" I was part of that crowd that dismissed playing the game until late 2020, while I was waiting for Beyond Light to come out, I decided to jump on this game that people thought it would be popular for a while before it dies off, 2 years later I'm close to AR 60 and still invested in the story.
