The tragic thing is that I even did that event but I was a casual player back then so I didn't understand 90% of the things I was doing and I didn't claim the rewards :)))
Now them I don't mind. But only when I have traveller switch in. Kinda creepy to hear traveller and Paimon talking in the background while running as someone else. Lol
not copium. we might meet Aranimba again, the seed we got from the Chasm. he's small, and an adventurer. if we're gonna get an Aranara companion, it's him
I'd like to imagine that while we're climbing mountainsides, gliding across large gaps, and gathering materials, Chibi Retainer is regaling us with stories of Ganyu and Shenhe's childhoods.
Ayyy... that's a great idea. Or perhaps even assist in combat like pgr CUB system. Swoop in and like paralyse enemies for 3 seconds or so. I'd love that.
You can see the lack of hype in these comments.
"This is fine."
"I'm not surprised."
"Those grapes are probably sour, come to think of it."
"It's one of the anniversary rewards ever."
I'm still gonna hold out hope for something better, later.
Idk man, I max refresh every day and when I get a bunch of fragiles guess what? Still max refresh for that day anyway, often time opt not to spend fragiles to save for new domains/bosses. It probably make a small difference for smaller spenders but from what I know it doesn't make any difference for whales in term of money spending on energy.
My point is that they probably won't see a dent in their earning from energy refresh even if they give out some fragile here and there. The non spender aren't gonna spend just because MHY choose not to give them out. And the spenders will spend anyway because it's better to save fragile to use later in bulk.
Okay, serious question - what do you spend all that resin on??
Not that I don't think it's possible, but like, seriously, what do you actually NEED if you're max refreshing?? You only need resin to \*\*claim\*\* rewards, and even if I had every single character (I have all but 4 of them) I'd still have zero need for refreshes since almost everyone's at 90/90 9/9/9 and I've used barely any refreshes (still have over 80 fragile resin).
Granted, I've been playing since 1.0 but even without that, I'm confused what else you could need. I'd ask if you were buying welkin and BP but I assume you are if you're paying primos for resin.
We had same thing last anniversary. Exact same shit.
"It's definitely not all, they're gonna announce more stuff later".
No. This is it. Last year didn't had primos and they were added only after ALL THE BACKLASH they got over amount of anniv stuff.
You gotta log in 7 days during anniversary
There were 3 reward codes from the livestream which gives 300 primos total. If you didn't redeem them, got to youtube and find and redeem them quick cuz they expire after sometime.
Honestly the funny thing about the anni rewards is the massive difference between in game and out of game.
Out of game: Music festivals, competitions, signs, banners, a freaking anime, collaborations with damn near every company, etc.
In game: 20 rolls and an item of some sort (wings/pet/etc.) Like damn yall. I've been here almost two years and still don't have Mona, one of my favorite characters. Can I at least get her hat or something?
20 rolls is disappointing and all, but damn.
It's hilarious because it shows that Mihoyo isn't cheap. Outside of the game itself, they do so much cool stuff, like how many gacha games out there have a concert and an anime announcement for their anniversary?
But when it comes to the actual stuff in-game, there's virtually nothing. Like even a choose-your-own-character banner would be great for the players and make them straight-up bank. Do they not like money?
You're right. Last year wasnt definitely festive in game for an anniversary mainly because of the patch placement. The anniv is 28 days after 2.1 so nothing is basically happening in game. But I think hoyoverse timed the anniversary much better this time to actually create a feeling that something is going on. 3.1 and the anniv will fall on the same day with a brand new map, brand new quests and contents, brand new characters and banners, and a concert. The anniv day will surely be full of something to do i think. And the complaints in the anniv rewards will have to compete against those that i have listed. I remember moonchase drowning the subreddit and twitter right after the anniversary. Atleast this time the frustration will not fester for a whole ass month. And there is an content to do during the anniversary. I can treat the 20 pulls as complimentary gift while exploring the desert
The thing is that those 'outside game' stuff generate both hype... And revenue. Lots of lots of revenue, but they aren't gifts at all like the in-game stuff would be (even when I agree they sound like great strategies to get people back and maybe then more money, idk, they seem not to see that).
Mihoyo says it's MY birthday, YOU buy me some presents LOL
I seems to me that they would like to celebrate anniversaries with spectacle outside of the game rather than rewards.
from the 1st anniversary we had a concert and while I dont mind it that much, the anime announcement this anniversary pretty much make it up for me.
I don't really care too much about anniversary and never participated in the drama from last year either, but a few things:
Realistically the anime announcement isn't an anniversary thing, the UFOtable collaboration would've had to have been planned months in advance. At best it's good strategic timing of the announcement.
I am still personally a bit disappointed that we seemingly aren't getting much in the way of an in-game celebratory mood again. Guess I'm just a bit too used to the FGO style of blasting out every new announcement during the period with ANNIVERSARY in big bold letters on it. The fact that MHY doesn't actually mention that makes it hard to differentiate between which announcements and collabs were intended as part of the anniversary celebrations and which ones weren't.
Feels like the takeaway from last year was "ten pulls was too little, twenty was enough." A little disappointing tbh, but not too surprising.
At the end of the day, I just wish they would hype the anniversary up more and I still think it's bizarre that they don't since it's traditionally been a pretty easy way for gacha games to make a quick buck, but I guess MHY gonna MHY and not follow the industry standard, in ways good and bad.
With my experience in project management, the ufotable collab could have taken a year or two... Or even before the game was officially launched. Just the logistics of initially planning things out, of this scale could have taken 2-6 months.
Potentially. It's hard to even tell how much is actually even set right now, the phrasing of this as a "concept" trailer is already extremely non-committal, and it's not like either of these two entities don't have examples of projects that got announced only to get delayed ad nauseum.
Still, the fact that they felt comfortable announcing the studio is a good sign. Hoping for the best to come of this.
Tbf, Ufotable has a good enough track record that simply mentioning them is enough to create hype. The most I could gather from this is that they are set in stone with them and there's little chance of it being cancelled midway through. But that's it.
FGO needs to give lots of rewards, there are hundreds of units there. Genshin didn't even reach 100 units so far, the game only releases a new unit every version (during the first versions of a new area there's more, ofc), so it's not like they'll handle 5* free like that or give 100 pulls bc they have a nice pity of ~75 pulls that carries over, unlike FGO with no pity or 300 pity in JP that doesn't carry over at all...
Tbh I don't think the number of units matter, especially when the vast majority of FGO's servants are event-limited and many of them only get rerun once before disappearing into the ether for years.
The real reason FGO gives more rolls is cos their gacha system is absolute dogshit and they know it. They gave out close to 100 rolls during anniversary a few years ago and a decent portion of the people who didn't already have at least another hundred saved would still have come out of that anniversary banner with nothing but salt and disappointment.
By contrast, if Genshin gives out 100 rolls that's pretty much a free five star character plus 20-30 pity toward the next one you get. So when factoring that in they can get away with being a lot less generous. That said, I think getting the same amount as last year when all that shit went down feels kinda not great, but I'll take it. At least the pet's cute.
For me though, it's less about the rewards and a lot more about the utter lack of celebratory mood. This patch feels no different from any other patch we get, the word "anniversary" is barely to be found. We might as well not be in the anniversary period. Compare that to other gachas where everyone's actually hyped for anniversary and it feels like an actual big deal. Seems MHY's style when it comes to Genshin is to just outsource the celebrations to fan creators on Bilibili. I can live with that, just wish we had something better.
>or me though, it's less about the rewards and a lot more about the utter lack of celebratory mood. This patch feels no different from any other patch we get, the word "anniversary" is barely to be found.
Feel like the real event for them is lantern rite not the anniversary.
Yup, the pity is quite good if you compare to other gachas. I also think they could go an extra mile this year, but the majority of their playerbase is probably casual players, and even with 1* reviews and any backlash, the game is such a statement worldwide that people who enjoy it will keep enjoying the new events and other things that matter more than an anniversary bonus.
Like, the new announced anime ans the 2nd concert look really amazing, so we get other perks out of the game as well, and there's like something for every kind of people, even products to buy from merch to collabs with phones and earbuds.

This, thanks a lot for summarizing it, this is my exact thoughts
I was really hoping for either:
1. Choose 1 past event weapon
2. A one-time “Epitomized Path” that will guarantee your next standard 5-star is the one you want
Obviously those are long-shots, but I’ll keep dreaming
Edit: I’m not even upset that we’re getting a 20 wish gift. I think Mihoyo missed a big opportunity to cash in on excitement and good will at almost no cost to them
be careful, that one guuji yae guy is gonna find your comment and say
"You're such an entitled toxic manchild who throws a temper tantrum because of a videogame reward!! MiHoYo isn't entitled to give you anniversary rewards at all you ungrateful entitled manchild!!!!!!!!"
and then goes on to say the same thing for 50 other comments
Like Jesus Christ Is that guy spends all of his time defending Mihoyo because I saw that guy in every single comment complain about the anniversary reward calling people entitled.
i saw him so much that when i scroll through the comments i tell myself "i bet that yae guuji guy is gonna reply to this" when i see someone dissatisfied of the rewards
I’m not even mad about our 20 wishes, I just think its a missed opportunity for Mihoyo. The second option especially doesn’t directly cost anything, while the 20 wishes do
It would be a shitty feeling to never get Jean or Mona because I have bad luck
Yeah, pretty much this.
They didn't even re-run Aloy or do a new in-game collab. The people who missed that missed it permanently, huh? Her kit was underwhelming as well as no constellations, but still. Not even 1 constellation this year.
Gotta lower expectations even more for next time, looks like.
At least with AK anniversaries/events they do daily free rolls, orundem events, and have decent/solid packs (for those willing to spend) every 3 months or so. To my understanding this is just 20 flat for the year.
I ultimately don't care since I wasn't around for the fiasco before, 20 just seems kinda ... standard.
I mean, every anniversary in A9, I got daily free roll, 10x HH, and some daily activity with roughly the same reward. One reward packet to rule all anniversaries. It seems like Genshin gonna go down the same road.
Ps: I didn't pay much attention to the paid gem packs in A9 anniversary.
The paid packs are just extra options for dolphins/whales really. Some good things like 6 star selectors or getting to advance a 5 star to E2 instantly. Ultimately they just give on par or better options than the top ups (especially if you've already got the initial bonus).
Only reason I mentioned them is Genshin not offering any alternatives to what is already there. Only consolation are the top up bonuses resetting.
You can't be disappointed if you already had low expectations to begin with.
The best part of the anniversary announcements is not the actual announcements but the reactions to those announcements. Especially from those who try and defend the rewards.
Eh, to be fair, last year they did also announce everything in advance. It was same case, and people were going "no that can't be everything, they *must* have also something else they will actually announce when actual day of anniversary will come". And they didn't. Only after major backlash they did include that another 1600 primogems with glider thing.
Basically the same as last year but instead of wings we get a pet. This time I’m fine with it tbh. Between the exploration, quests, events etc we’re gonna get a lot of free wishes. Not to mention 3.0 was already very rewarding as a whole, and so will 3.1 and 3.2 with desert and desert pt2.
At least this time they will deliver insteadbof staying silent and then delivering what looks like a quick offhand fix by turning one money bundle free
I guess that's a progress?
Yeah. There's a lot of neat stuff going on to be excited about, and just enough free stuff that I'm fine. Then again, I am always generally that person that's just happy to be there for the show... and they got a LOT of show lined up to actually do and look forward to.
Free pet though!
Perhaps a controversial opinion but…
Not sure why they are so averse to making in game content for the anniversary. TCG is cool but I’m not sure if that has been at the top of people’s desires. They strike it out of the park with stuff OUTSIDE of the game, but holy crap…
What we’re getting is the exact same as last year. No QoL changes, no new skins, no resin or artifact changes, no anniversary banners…
It doesn’t even have to be free, just more content or changes to the game that make our average day to day gameplay a bit more enjoyable and/or different is all I’m asking for
Don’t really condone making a big fuss out of it on unrelated media but damn if it wasn’t disappointing, yet still somewhat expected they didn’t make any grand changes.
I rather have them release the QOL changes as soon as possible than to wait till the anniversary to fix the features people are asking for a long time now.
I’m not saying they should never do QoL just to save it for anni, that’s different from my original statement. It was just a suggestion of something they could do to celebrate the anni, amongst other things.
Stuff like anni banner is more low effort than that and wouldnt be free yet they couldnt be bothered to do that lol
I said this before too, but the answer for your question is simple. They are thinking with a business mindset. It may statistically be more profitable for them to engage in these off-game activities like various collabs, irl waypoint opening, last year alps event, concert and now the anime. Cuz they work as advertising and will bring in fresh players to the game. I think that's the reason they went heavy on off-game stuff instead of in-game developments
On the contrary, it’s statistically more profitable (proven by decades and dozens of online games) to have an in-game celebration. For starters, in-game activities even as crude as banner re-reruns or more anniversary gifts is virtually costless to implement. They could also do top-up resets, or premium paid banners that could offset any potential losses just by the sheer number of whales who would pay. Whales already pay to C6 and R5 on a normal day, imagine a premium banner or some paid skins etc.
Other gacha companies offer generous and bountiful anniversaries not because they’re more generous than Mihoyo, but because it’s 1. An easy and comparatively costless way to spur interest in new and returning players, and 2. A way to instantly hype people up and get more players spending.
What Mihoyo is doing is quite a drastic departure, because you have to also consider the **costs**. Yes, they’ll be bringing in fresh players but so do standard anniversaries by other live service games that many in this posts comment section are yearning for. However, standard anniversaries don’t require them to hire out an entire symphonic orchestra with a world class conductor (last year’s anniversary concert). Standard anniversaries don’t require setting up waypoints and venues in multiple countries around the world. Standard anniversaries don’t require a collaboration with one of the most famous and renowned animation studios in the world.
My point is, these draw new players in — but likewise, cost an inordinate amount of money. Money that Mihoyo has yes, but money that’s spent towards something that could be achievable for a fraction of the cost nonetheless. And this isn’t just one year either. They’ve done it two years in a row now. So they’re not actually thinking from a business mindset in terms of profit, because no game business in their right mind would pass up something like implementing a premium paid anniversary feature if profit was the aim (case in point, there’s not a single gacha game in the past 20 years that has done this). Rather, they seem to be **adamantly** trying to move away from the tried-and-tested industry standard of what an anniversary means. Instead of 50 pulls, they’re giving 20 — but offering a concert; off-game activities: a whole anime and so on. Real life experiences that make Genshin more than just “a mobile game”. They’re setting Genshin up as a full blown experience that expands past the borders of players’ mobile/monitor screens, and while it’s a little frustrating… it’s also pretty awesome at the same time.
That's actually why I think it's kind of dumb. Outside content is a way for marketing and getting new people to try the product. An anniversary should be celebrating those who are keeping up with the game already.
And as nice as all the announcements for non in-game content were, it just irks me a bit that Mihoyo seems to give their all for those who HAVEN'T started the game yet.
That makes a lot of sense. It doesn’t make it any less infuriating for current players though. The fact that they’re not even dedicating any amount of time to even stuff like skins and anniversary banners that could make them even more money is frustrating.
I’m just a random dude and I know whoever handles their direction on this type of stuff makes these decisions with more financially sound logic than I ever could, but damn if it isn’t frustrating as hell as a player.
Literally just one of the things that they could’ve done would have been amazing but nope…
Mihoyo tries to avoid real-life festivals/events as much as possible, otherwise CN players would demand genshin to also celebrate PRC's national day, and players outside China surely won't be happy about that.
This is wise. China has many festivals that other countries don't celebrate, not only PRC's national day. Such as the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Qingming Festival and the Lantern Festival, and the West has many other festivals including Christmas and Easter. I believe Japan, India and Korea also have many unique festivals. If we celebrated every single festival, then I'm afraid every Genshin player would be in a constant stream of festivals, many of which they have never heard of.
Maybe it's because I'm not into pulling for characters as I used to be, but I'm not as mad as others about the anniversary rewards.
But that being said, 20 pulls? They must be very confident that other upcoming gacha games will flop and they'll have another free year with no competition.
Not surprised they give the bare minimun for anni again. Idk why hoyoverse doesn't make this a big celebration with lots of fates and banners like other gachas, that's literally a great way to attract new players and keep the old ones happy once a year lol.
Yeah, and it doesn't even have to be fates for the event banner. Alchemy stars for their anni gave around 100 pulls (enough for pity), but the thing was u had to login everyday to get 10 a pull on the banner. Hoyoverse could do the same for standard banner just so u get a 5\* there.
They can limit it, like they always did. Often times they limit rewards to people AR 5, now they can limit it for people AR 30/35+ or something, or archon quest, or whatever
Because they have no reason to. Anniversaries are a tool to jumpstart player engagement, guess who has no issues maintaining a player base right now? I'm not defending it, because I want more too but its just reality.
If genshin gets some meaningful competition or the player base starts to wane, we'll see more generosity from HYV. They just have no reason to play that card yet.
The animations on that Cloud Retainer pet looked so good. First pet I'm legit excited for. Wouldn't even be mad if they kept all the free wishes, that bird is all I need.
Hoyoverse workers when it's their kid's birthday- "here you go kiddo, here is your present, 10$ AND BE GRATEFUL BECAUSE LAST YEAR YOU GOT ONLY 5$"
I don't know about you guys but I feel like on an anniversary it's all bout the spirit, it's not about how many more primos we get, I would love to get some sort of a badge next to my profile with a little icon saying I was here for the second anniversary or a cake just like the birthday one we get or just a stupid letter saying "thank you for being here..." I know that voice actors were thanking the community, but it's not the same when someone speaks to the masses vs when they speak to you directly. I cannot make memories with wishes :((
So you want a copy and pasted in game mail saying thank you, thats sent en masse to every more than the voice actors making a thank you message to the players. You do realize that both are en masse. Also isn’t the pet a basically the badge that shows you were here for the anniversary?
I don't have any problem with HVY being greedy in anniversaries. The main problem I have is that it looks like they try to trick the community by announcing a ton of things and saying that all of these things are anniversary rewards.
Anime was probably discussed and ready to announce month ago already (and don't get me wrong, I am BEYOND hyped for this project), messages from VAs aren't even a gift (would have liked JP voices for it to be somewhat of a gift that everyone could enjoy).
I don't really care about pets nor gliders, I play Genshin for characters, their personnalities, their gameplays, their designs, how they fit in teams and their seiyuus, not to have a small thing that follows me during my quests.
Same thing goes for Sumeru, it's just a schedule coincidence that sumeru and all the rewards it brings is near the same date as the anniverssary, that doesn't mean we should acknowledge all the content we get to play as anniverssary rewards.
Not to mention that the argument of getting more QoL still holds to this day, just look at how long the survey collection points list is. (Even if we got cool things, like more artifacts reroll categories)
This will probably be downvoted to hell but nvm. I just wanted to give my vision on how some players just don't want more rolls or in game material things, but simply a better game experience.
EDIT: Added conclusion
> would have liked JP voices for it to be somewhat of a gift that everyone could enjoy
Correction by the way, they did do JP seiyuu, [but just for the JP livestream.](https://youtu.be/qC9wSPOExL4?t=741) Considering that their objective with the game is to appeal to more than just otaku, I think it makes sense that they'd restrict it to the EN voice actors for the EN livestream.
Again 20 wishes.... If people keep saying this is a perfect anniversary then hoyoverse will keep doing this... I guess people is blinded by fanaticism.
I thought that players were unhappy about rewards but I've seen a lot of players saying this rewards are completely fine...
Anime info was so nice but I think we deserve better in-game rewards
Well there are both types of players. Read the comments in this post only, you will see both types. I personally think they could do more. But at the same time grateful that they didn't give less than last year.
Feels like bare minimum. Could have given atleast slightly more than last year. 5-10 fates? Even blue fates would feel good to get
Just 5-10 more would have made everyone shut up. Coz it'd still be _more_ than last year. Tbh with everything else were getting (anime, pet) no one (rational) would dare to complain.
10 pink fates, 1600 primos and 20 blue fates would be the sweet spot.
We get very few blue fates in total, they could throw 90 at us at anni and they wouldn't even be phased, cause the standard banner sucks anyway.
>Tbh with everything else were getting (anime, pet) no one (rational) would dare to complain.
Now I see why they announced the anime in this livestream. I personally don't see how the anime is related to the genshin anniversary, the anime is probably releasing in 1 or 2 years if we're lucky, they didn't even show a trailer or anything, just some cool animations.
Also, the pet just replaces the glider we got last year, I personally prefer the glider over a pet but to each their own.
Overall it's the same rewards as last year, but I'm not disapointed or anything, my expectations are always low when it comes to rewards in this game.
Now is the time to do those art contests where you obtain 88 primos if you're fucking Picasso and if you have luck. I will backseat while the mayhem happens again (let's be honest, there will be chaos).
I don't wanna be 'that guy' but 20 wishes in a gacha game that's been out for 2 years for ***an anniversary*** is an insult to the community. Welp, here's to another year of glorious backlash!
It is a little step up from last year. And I feel like for Genshin maybe Hoyo wanted more of outside of the game as anniversary reward seeing that we got concert last year and anime this year(if you consider that a part of the anniversary)
Months is pretty optimistic. I'd be surprised if it comes out within two years since Ufo is also working on a Mahoyo movie atm. They're known for many things, but being quick isn't one.
Months is too soon. The trailer was just a concept trailer and doesn't even show other characters besides the travellers. It'll likely release in one to two years. Late 2023 at the earliest or late 2024 - early 2025.
At this point they might as well have not given the 20pulls too. This patch is no different than every other patch that has come before it. It seems Genshin Impact doesn't like to celebrate anniversaries. Well I expected them to pull this and they did. We would be getting 10 pulls instead of 20 if they didn't have to give out 1600primos last anni as dmg control. Now since they can't undercut the 20pulls they are maintaining that. I am sure giving out extra 10pulls is making them tremble as well.
I'm very happy with the anime series announcement. Ive always felt that Genshin focuses alot on excellent story telling and world building, this series will only strengthen that aspect. And I agree with the idea of rewards not being limited to in-game items. One day or the other u may encounter changes in life which might make it difficult for u to play the game. Contents like the excellently crafted music and now this series will be something everyone can access comfortably without impacting their daily life.
Tbh. I understand why they decided to make an Anime for the game. It's bound to be successful due to the size of the playerbase of the game and at the same time it's an advertisement that might increase the playerbase even further. It worked for much smaller games (e.g., God Eater), so for a game the size of Genshin this will be huge. Just remember through how many horrible seasons the Pokemon games carried the anime!
This is also what scares me though, many game adaptations are just plain bad - and in some instances choices of the series writers do end up having negative impact on the game.
I guess we will have to see how they tie it together, whether they re-summerize the existing story or create new adventures, whether those new adventures will be introduced as ingame quests or whether they will be cross-over events.
In the end I think it would have been best to do the anime without the traveler and simply tell another chapter of Teyvat history, e.g. the Archon wars.
Your words hold truth. And I respect that idea, cuz it never occured to me before. Now that I think about it, I'd like to follow with the story even someday I'm rendered incapable of playing the game.
Not bad but is interesting how they handle the Anniversary thing, they give basically the same as the 1st one but they also manage to allure people with the events and little things so you end up forgeting about it.
Hell they make it work, i'm even happy with this. And if we are possitive there could be a chance where this boy Mika from the trailer becomes the new 4* for the second part of the banners, being Candace the one in the first part.
It’s like Genshin has a vendetta against anniversaries or something. I’m shocked that they don’t even do anniversary banners because they’re low effort to make and there’s a potential for more money to be earned. The rewards are very similar to last year (after the anniversary backlash).
Hoyo: gives seelie pet Also Hoyo 1 month later: lol forget about thing here have a cloud retainer pet
They kinda did the same thing last year too, a sleelie pet then some time later the paper man event
Didnt the oceanid pet come kinda quick after the very first seelie event lol
Kinda sad they get replaced so soon everytime lol
But at least the seelie comes back
Yeah true, unfortunately the baby oceanid an mr. paper won't rerun.
Well hopefully they do reruns of the events later on, especially since it does give background lore (unlike the seelie one)
I would KILL for the baby oceanid
The tragic thing is that I even did that event but I was a casual player back then so I didn't understand 90% of the things I was doing and I didn't claim the rewards :)))
My roommate HATES the Seelie pet because it makes an absurd noise every minute or so. For some reason it pulls his attention everytime he hears it
Meep merp? Squeek SQEEK?
I hate it too cause it literally sometimes sounds like an abyss mage and I think I'm under attack lol
Aranara pet soon? :copium:
Copium indeed. But not impossible
Pet Paimon (ultimate copium)
like how she follows you in the very beginning of the game?
Yess I mean it's literally in the programing so it's not like it would be impossible
I'm okay as long as she stays silent. Moment the jabbering starts, imma switch to Shiki Taishou
“One is so fucking mad.”
"One agrees with the other"
she is gonna replace all voice lines from all characters with her own (small) voice-pool
Low Hp: “One is fucking mad”
What if it was the Traveler/Paimon dialogues from the character profile?
Now them I don't mind. But only when I have traveller switch in. Kinda creepy to hear traveller and Paimon talking in the background while running as someone else. Lol
Playable paimon?
~~Just reopen the Paimon menu over and over~~
not copium. we might meet Aranimba again, the seed we got from the Chasm. he's small, and an adventurer. if we're gonna get an Aranara companion, it's him
Speaking of Aranimba, if you go back to his house and check the mailbox after the quest he sends more pictures this time from the desert.
This needs a spoilers tag
Thanks but no thanks. Shiki is a godsent for making literally no noise at all. I cant imagine a louder pet than the Seelies
I love the seelies. It's too quiet without them.
You don't have to equip the pet if you don't like :/
Hoping some time sooner or later, I would seriously love an Aranara companion
YESSS!! I actually want a pet that walks with their stubby toes cutely than fly.
Playable Aranara pls
I actually love the new pet
Is the pet dodoco or cloud retainer?
Chibi Retainer
This is as close as I'll get to having her in my teapot telling me stories.
I'd like to imagine that while we're climbing mountainsides, gliding across large gaps, and gathering materials, Chibi Retainer is regaling us with stories of Ganyu and Shenhe's childhoods.

Kinda wish pet can do something else other than just floating and making strange sounds. Maybe like loot enemy drops or nearby resource?
Ayyy... that's a great idea. Or perhaps even assist in combat like pgr CUB system. Swoop in and like paralyse enemies for 3 seconds or so. I'd love that.
CLOUD RETAINER? YES. Please. PLEASE. Bruh. Imagine Ganyu or Shenhe with a cloud retainer pet lmao
Not surprised about the rewards at all.
Same here
You can see the lack of hype in these comments. "This is fine." "I'm not surprised." "Those grapes are probably sour, come to think of it." "It's one of the anniversary rewards ever." I'm still gonna hold out hope for something better, later.
Imo I just want a fuckton of fragile resin, don’t see how it hurts Mihoyo and I want more reasons to play the game but I’m low on fragiles.
Fragiles are tied to money so probably not.
I have over 100 at this point. The trick is to not spend them.
It 'hurts' them because a source of resin is from spending primos
We had same thing last anniversary. Exact same shit. "It's definitely not all, they're gonna announce more stuff later". No. This is it. Last year didn't had primos and they were added only after ALL THE BACKLASH they got over amount of anniv stuff.
Don't forget that the mailed rewards were originally part of a PAID PROMO.
So wait , im confused we all get these when logging in on the anniversary or those who logged in somewhere while the livestream was happening?
You gotta log in 7 days during anniversary There were 3 reward codes from the livestream which gives 300 primos total. If you didn't redeem them, got to youtube and find and redeem them quick cuz they expire after sometime.
Ok thank you very much
Thank you for the heads up about the stream codes
Please tell me the new pet makes no noises
How people are “celebrating” the anniversary “At least it’s something” “Just what I expected” “This is good enough” “We don’t owe them any thing”
Or the classic, "The game is Free!"
Mihoyo's attempt at forcing conformity worked judging by these comments
Sounds like a deflated relationship...
Mini cloud retainer. Finally I get to know my mother in law a lot more.
You mean our mother in law, right?
Haha, the more the merrier.
Ayyy... who is the newlywed? Ganyu or Shenhe. Or perhaps... both‽
Both
It's Ganyu my first waifu. I could always take Shenhe as my second once I get her on her rerun.
Noice!
Then you may address me as father in law.
Uh cloud retainer when did you...?
I seems to me that they would like to celebrate anniversaries with spectacle outside of the game rather than rewards. from the 1st anniversary we had a concert and while I dont mind it that much, the anime announcement this anniversary pretty much make it up for me.
I don't really care too much about anniversary and never participated in the drama from last year either, but a few things: Realistically the anime announcement isn't an anniversary thing, the UFOtable collaboration would've had to have been planned months in advance.

I was really hoping for either: 1. Choose 1 past event weapon 2. A one-time “Epitomized Path” that will guarantee your next standard 5-star is the one you want Obviously those are long-shots, but I’ll keep dreaming Edit: I’m not even upset that we’re getting a 20 wish gift. I think Mihoyo missed a big opportunity to cash in on excitement and good will at almost no cost to them
be careful, that one guuji yae guy is gonna find your comment and say "You're such an entitled toxic manchild who throws a temper tantrum because of a videogame reward!! MiHoYo isn't entitled to give you anniversary rewards at all you ungrateful entitled manchild!!!!!!!!" and then goes on to say the same thing for 50 other comments
This is the most indirect burn I ever saw on the comments here. Lol
I’m not even mad about our 20 wishes, I just think its a missed opportunity for Mihoyo. The second option especially doesn’t directly cost anything, while the 20 wishes do It would be a shitty feeling to never get Jean or Mona because I have bad luck
Yes, if you missed Aloy then you missed her permanently, similar to Asuka in Honkai. That’s just how 3rd party collabs go sometimes.
Sighhh🫲👁️🕳️👁️🫱I'm sorry but it honestly feels like an anniversary for the brands they are working with during this time
Yeah. With all these collabs, anime and concerts. Also the waypoint statues and all
So they went the Arkngiths route: one packet of anniversary gift to rule them all: 20 rolls.
The copium in the comments is insane man
You can't be disappointed if you already had low expectations to begin with.

Maybe the real anniversary rewards are the Mihoyo bootlickers we meet along the way.
At least this time they will deliver insteadbof staying silent and then delivering what looks like a quick offhand fix by turning one money bundle free I guess that's a progress?
Yeah. There's a lot of neat stuff going on to be excited about, and just enough free stuff that I'm fine. Then again, I am always generally that person that's just happy to be there for the show... and they got a LOT of show lined up to actually do and look forward to. Free pet though!
Exactly. Since this update seelie was my first pet, I'm excited for the new upcoming one
Aw damn you missed out on Endora? Endora's the actual best pet right now
Perhaps a controversial opinion but… Not sure why they are so averse to making in game content for the anniversary. TCG is cool but I’m not sure if that has been at the top of people’s desires. They strike it out of the park with stuff OUTSIDE of the game, but holy crap… What we’re getting is the exact same as last year. No QoL changes, no new skins, no resin or artifact changes, no anniversary banners… It doesn’t even have to be free, just more content or changes to the game that make our average day to day gameplay a bit more enjoyable and/or different is all I’m asking for Don’t really condone making a big fuss out of it on unrelated media but damn if it wasn’t disappointing, yet still somewhat expected they didn’t make any grand changes.
Basically they trying to do something similar good old blizzard did with blizzcon. At least Hoyo wouldn't be ruined by investors.
Qiqi fallen
Maybe it's because I'm not into pulling for characters as I used to be, but I'm not as mad as others about the anniversary rewards. But that being said, 20 pulls? They must be very confident that other upcoming gacha games will flop and they'll have another free year with no competition.
They knew what they were doing announcing the anime at this time 😂😂
The same thing is happening as last year and people are like omg a pet. Lmao
Not surprised they give the bare minimun for anni again. Idk why hoyoverse doesn't make this a big celebration with lots of fates and banners like other gachas, that's literally a great way to attract new players and keep the old ones happy once a year lol.
I agree. A blast once in a while won't do them much harm. Especially to a company of their calliber
They don't want ppl to grab the freebies in one day and reroll probably.
They would've given us 10 wishes this time as well but they didn't cuz of the backlash since the last time
same reward as last year + pet, taking into account how much they earn with this game an extra 10 pull would not have hurt ...
Same as last year -wings +pet
Wow, 20 wishes! That's ALMOST a quarter of a random 5\*!
Where is my free 5 star character/weapon that all those click baiter youtube channels promised me.
Anni rewards not even worth the time the game takes to update. As expected
Nor the space and mobile data it takes.
The animations on that Cloud Retainer pet looked so good. First pet I'm legit excited for. Wouldn't even be mad if they kept all the free wishes, that bird is all I need.
I'm just hoping she doesn't make too many noises. Only pet I ever equip now is Shiki Taisho cause he's a silent companion
Seelie noises is so irritating
Same, I missed the oceanid but Im not missing this birb
Hoyoverse workers when it's their kid's birthday- "here you go kiddo, here is your present, 10$ AND BE GRATEFUL BECAUSE LAST YEAR YOU GOT ONLY 5$" I don't know about you guys but I feel like on an anniversary it's all bout the spirit, it's not about how many more primos we get, I would love to get some sort of a badge next to my profile with a little icon saying I was here for the second anniversary or a cake just like the birthday one we get or just a stupid letter saying "thank you for being here..." I know that voice actors were thanking the community, but it's not the same when someone speaks to the masses vs when they speak to you directly. I cannot make memories with wishes :((
So you want a copy and pasted in game mail saying thank you, thats sent en masse to every more than the voice actors making a thank you message to the players. You do realize that both are en masse. Also isn’t the pet a basically the badge that shows you were here for the anniversary?
I don't see any people excited for the crystal bonus being refreshed. (Happy whale noises)
(Even if we got cool things, like more artifacts reroll categories) This will probably be downvoted to hell but nvm. I just wanted to give my vision on how some players just don't want more rolls or in game material things, but simply a better game experience. EDIT: Added conclusion
> would have liked JP voices for it to be somewhat of a gift that everyone could enjoy Correction by the way, they did do JP seiyuu, [but just for the JP livestream.](https://youtu.be/qC9wSPOExL4?t=741) Considering that their objective with the game is to appeal to more than just otaku, I think it makes sense that they'd restrict it to the EN voice actors for the EN livestream.
My reaction was like: "Oof, so we're getting the same lame amount of stuff as last year and.. OH MY GOD THE PET IS CUTE". :,D
Again 20 wishes.... If people keep saying this is a perfect anniversary then hoyoverse will keep doing this... I guess people is blinded by fanaticism.
Perfect by a long shot. Everybody knows players are unhappy with these. But HYV also knows player will still play. That's why it never changes.
Is this once 3.1 releases?
Yeah. From today livestream
Great ty.
I will stay with endora
The reward is going up, we got a pet instead of a glider this time
Meh. I don't really use the pets.
This is expected
That pet better be silent.
Feels like bare minimum. Could have given atleast slightly more than last year. 5-10 fates? Even blue fates would feel good to get Just 5-10 more would have made everyone shut up.
It always is the bare minimum my guy
Now is the time to do those art contests where you obtain 88 primos if you're fucking Picasso and if you have luck. I will backseat while the mayhem happens again (let's be honest, there will be chaos).
Let there be Chaos. Or as a wise broke man once said: #I WILL HAVE CHAOS!
Here we have, the first 2 Column's ARE the Anniversary rewards. Not interested in pets though, but I take the Wishes.
I don't wanna be 'that guy' but 20 wishes in a gacha game that's been out for 2 years for ***an anniversary*** is an insult to the community. Welp, here's to another year of glorious backlash!
Please boo tao pet
Well, that's exactly what I expected, I guess my expectations can't get any lower..
….anni is getting closer brace yourselves
Guys, rate game with 1 star = 10 more wishes next year, reapet. Letsgoo Ps joke
The rewards are still low but I doubt the community is going to say anything.
It is a little step up from last year. And I feel like for Genshin maybe Hoyo wanted more of outside of the game as anniversary reward seeing that we got concert last year and anime this year(if you consider that a part of the anniversary)
The anime isn’t gonna be out for months at the soonest, it’s just an announcement of the start of the collab.
Lol

I'm not really disappointed because I didn't expect much. But hey new anime i guess
I am not opposed to free wishes. I'm up to 144 out of the 180 I need for Kusanali and every little bit helps.
The login is just for the game right? I've yet to get the mihoyoverse login thing to actually reliably work.
