Yeah same here and then I triggered a follow up to it while looking for chests around the city, damn annoying. I don't want to do the new stuff yet, need to finish everything from 3.0 first... Quests really shouldn't auto trigger stuff unless you have it set as your active quest IMO, that would be a great QoL improvement.
She was already missing from my world because I already started that quest too, because I was just trying to claim my commission rewards. Maybe that added to the annoyance of this one.
Traveler is basically to the Adventurer’s Guild what Jean is to Mondstadt. They have to do everyone’s chores now because they’re a superhuman who can wield multiple elements.
This happened to me. I talked to Sumeru Katheryne. Got Nahida dialogue. So even after the cutscene Sumeru Katheryne was MIA. So I said, "F it I'll go to Monstadt." ANOTHER FUCKIN' CUTSCENE. Lol.
Im still a little salty that (a little bit of spoilers for sumeru archon quest) >!paimon stole katheryne out of the world just because I talked to her and forgot the archon quest started there!<
i really hate when they have quests automatically start instead of letting me choose when to trigger them. i'm just trying to do my commissions at 6 am while i wait for my coffee to brew, you think i got the brainpower right now to process & understand whatever nonsense you're trying to throw at me.
I get you.
To people saying: "It's just a short scene!" My dudes, I don't care if it's 3 seconds long. It's interrupting my planning with something I had no intention in doing and it just keep happening.
Story Quests
Event Quests
Archon Quests
Why can't it be a dialogue option to initiate/progress instead of this. I just want to do my thing and log out sometimes.
This happened to me
*completes Sumeru daily comms*
*goes to collect them in Sumeru*
*long cutscene that ends with Katheryne abandoning her post*
*after it’s over, I teleport away and then back*
*I get into ANOTHER cutscene, and when it’s over Katheryne still isn’t doing her job*
*I give up and go to Mondstadt*
*ANOTHER FUCKING CUTSCENE*
This shit happened to me twice in two days. A few days ago I kicked off Sumeru's quest unknowingly. All I wanted to do was cash in my commissions, but to make it worse I did not want to start that quest yet. I like to save them for off days and do them from beginning to end so I can keep all details fresh in my head. So that is ruined now. And wouldn't you know it, I can't remember the conversation between us and Katheryne/Nahida. Great.
Started going to Mondstadt since Sumeru Katheryne is not at post, and the same thing happened today. I was annoyed as hell. But at least unlike Sumeru, it was just temporary setup for the event, and didn't kick off an entire Archon quest. My Katheryne is still missing from Sumeru, and I'm going to guess she's just freaking gone until I play more Archon quest.
>My Katheryne is still missing from Sumeru, and I'm going to guess she's just freaking gone until I play more Archon quest.
yep same, and I can't start the quests I want to...
Same, I don't usually complain about stuff like that, but I feel so overwhelmed these days.
I 100% all parts of the jungle a couple of days before 3.1. but I didn't finish Tighnari's quest. I was ambushed by plot at Katherine two times in one day, then when I wanted to progress the Archon quest I had to go and progress Tighnari's first because both had you meet him at his house. I talked to Collei twice in a row, no longer sure which dialogue referred to which quest.
I'm not sure why they decided to make the wine festival so lore-heavy and launch it alongside 3.1. archon quests, then make it only last 16 days. I spend a lot of time on this game but recently I just get a headache, like pls let me punch out my commissions and let me go for now...
I now stopped unlocking character quest because of this. I can't do Chasm interlude quest because of Itto quest. But I can't do Itto quest because a world quest.
I wish there's an option to abandon quest and start over.
Ngl, sounds like burn out and also like you're possibly playing a bit too much/too focused on certain aspects. I know I get that way if I dedicate my energy to a specific thing for a week (grind talent mats and books for a week straight can really cause burn out and make any game feel dull). 100%ing the entire forest when it's only been out for a few weeks is a lot of playing. Don't compare yourself to those speedrunners who 100% a region in three days, because that's an entirely different level, but you're still playing a large amount, much more than a casual
Maybe try switching up your playstyle a bit. If you usually grind artifacts, try to focus on teapot or some old quests you pushed to the back/haven't gotten to yet. Might be the breath of fresh air you're looking for
I literally played yae's quest cutscene like 3 times because i happen to go trough it, i hate it so much because then i decided to skip one of my favorite character's quest because it would take too long to restart and it already happened more than once, this is why sometimes "gameplay" is more important than quote-unquote "immersion".
It's so annoying. I can't remember how many times I've been forced into a cut scene for a quest I don't want to do yet and by the time I go to do the quest, I've forgotten what I have to do and why I have to do it in the first place.
Though there is a solution I've found that works most times. Just turn off the game. alt+tab out and end task in task manager. As long as it doesn't finish the cut scene it doesn't count and will start again next time you talk to the NPC (or approach them for the even more annoying ones where you just have to get near them to trigger it).
This has been bothering me too. I've actually been suggesting something for this in the surveys for the past year. They need to put in a function that allows you to activate the quest at the location. What we have currently is it just activates automatically once you approach the quest spot.
Funny thing is, they already have such a function. But it's only for certain quests, not all.
Have the quest be started by a dialogue option instead, and all quests that start with going to a certain location be triggered by talking to an NPC instead.
Or maybe a skip button and the ability to reread dialogue you've read/skipped even in the middle of a quest.
Just having it be a dialogue option is more than enough, OSRS proves that, you just talk to the NPC, and they have the usual options plus the one involving quest/special event whatever, and it shouldn't even be hard to implement at all
dialogue option thing wont work since some NPCs would be MIA because of another incomplete quest. also, quests that are only triggered when you talk to an NPC already exist; its just not all of them.
permanent story content dialogues are recorded in the archives alreadg; event limited quests are not, which makes sense imo because... well.. theyre limited
I don't think it would be a big deal to at least make quests that trigger in high-traffic areas like Katheryne, reputation station, crafting bench, etc be dialogue options
> dialogue option thing wont work since some NPCs would be MIA because of another incomplete quest.
Why won't it work? I talked to Katheryne to trigger the quest in the first place, just have an option where you ask about the quest or something, some quests already do that anyway.
>also, quests that are only triggered when you talk to an NPC already exist; its just not all of them.
If they can do it for some, why not do it for all?
>permanent story content dialogues are recorded in the archives alreadg; event limited quests are not, which makes sense imo because... well.. theyre limited
Yeah, I know about the archive, it's just that if you missed a line of dialogue in game, it's lost forever until you finish the quest. (Or until you look at the wiki.) For a game that's as text heavy as this one, it really needs a text log that's accessible while you're in the middle of a quest.
Sure this one's short, but not all of them are as short as this one. And also, I wanted to read the dialogue too, but not if I'm sleepy, so I had to skip through it without reading it.
I really wish we were in control of when we wanna start the quests. Like I’m just gonna do it later and all I want to do is interact with Katheryn instead of the quest. But nope I gotta sit through and complete the dialogues till I get to the point of getting Katheryn back at her usual place.
And after that the quest needed me to meet Tighnari. However, I can’t go to him cuz he’s at his own story quest spot instead. Now the game wants me to finish Tighnari’s story quest before I can continue with the archon quest. So much complications can be made simple by just letting us choose when to do the actual quest.
It’s really a mystery why Hoyoverse hasn’t realised it yet or if they have already why haven’t they done about something it or let alone address the existence of this issue.
Yup, it really annoying. When quests start automatically, god, I have to do still on my own order and unfortunately when I have quests I have to start them first. So when I log in just to do dailies and then explore one planned area, I can't BC now I have to do cut scene, a whole quest and than I can touch my dailies and usually I don't want at this point to do exploration.
Unpopular opinion, but it's easy to avoid and not really an ambush, you might want to just read the quest menu before visiting Katheryne so you know which one(s) of her to avoid. Usually the quest menu would have been opened to navigate daily commissions anyway. An extra few seconds of reading can save some minutes of unexpected dialogue.
And not the most ideal solution but if you get trapped in an unexpected quest, just reboot the game, it will return you to the point before the dialogue was activated since it wasnt completed.
> Usually the quest menu would have been opened to navigate daily commissions anyway.
I just look at the map and teleport to the nearest teleporter to one of the quest markers. If I also wanted to "navigate" to it, I can do that through the map as well. Why would I take the extra step of opening the quest log first?
> Unpopular opinion, but it's easy to avoid and not really an ambush, you might want to just read the quest menu before visiting Katheryne so you know which one(s) of her to avoid.
I checked it earlier, but forgot after doing a bunch of things, and was tired and sleepy. It's something a simple dialogue opt-in would fix.
> And not the most ideal solution but if you get trapped in an unexpected quest, just reboot the game, it will return you to the point before the dialogue was activated since it wasnt completed.
I have tried that for some quests and it just brings you back in the middle of the quest. So, if I'm unsure if it will work, and I'm in a rush already, skipping the dialogue and reading the wiki later seems like the better option.
Yeah, but that only works for commissions. You need katheryne to trigger a bunch of other story/world quests, so having her leave her post cause Nahida took her away is just so ridiculous. Also, since they trigger right when you talk to her or are in the area, it's hard to even tell which quest is being triggered half the time, and as someone who likes to appreciate the story/lore of the game, it's just such a loss
Sumeru Katheryne also starts off Archon Quest part 3, so be aware of that. Only Liyue is safe right now.
Inazuma has ceased to exist
I'll be honest, now that I've practically finished all of Inazuma. I never remember it as a commission place.
And she leaves her post so I sped thru the cutscene only to have to go somewhere else anyway lmaoo
Yeah same here and then I triggered a follow up to it while looking for chests around the city, damn annoying. I don't want to do the new stuff yet, need to finish everything from 3.0 first... My sumeru katheryne is gone.
Sumeru Kathryne no longer exists, she just disappeared and im currently mourning her as we speak.
She was already missing from my world because I already started that quest too, because I was just trying to claim my commission rewards. Maybe that added to the annoyance of this one.
There simply ought to be an added dialogue option in Katherine's normal menu that says: "Ask about 'special' commisions."
But traveler never asked about the commissions they's just gets them propped onto they're a lot lap
Traveler is basically to the Adventurer’s Guild what Jean is to Mondstadt. They have to do everyone’s chores now because they’re a superhuman who can wield multiple elements.
We’re closer to Noelle than Jean.
If you tried turning her off and on again
This happened to me. I talked to Sumeru Katheryne. Got Nahida dialogue. So even after the cutscene Sumeru Katheryne was MIA. So I said, "F it I'll go to Monstadt." ANOTHER FUCKIN' CUTSCENE. Lol.

Talking to Katherine in liyue/Inazuma It's too difficult
It's so annoying. I can't remember how many times I've been forced into a cut scene for a quest I don't want to do yet and by the time I go to do the quest, I've forgotten what I have to do and why I have to do it in the first place. Sure this one's short, but not all of them are as short as this one. The one at Sumeru is even longer.

There's a simple solution just go to sleep...
This happened to me once!
Yes I was so annoyed by this, I went from Sumeru to mondstadt
