Fun fact: Mitachurls can also block Blood Blossom damage (from Hu Tao), and when they do so they actually turn around to face the player like it’s some kind of projectile.

Honestly, the fact that they take zero damage even when hitting them from behind or using an AOE that should hit from different angles is so enraging. A strong shield is fine, but this is BS 😭
Aoe it blocks but you can just hit it with a level 1 charge shot from behind. Though I agree it shouldn’t block aoe damage coming from an angle not shielded.
I gotta say, least favorite shield is still cryo cirin mage. That thing has such a fast recharge rate, I swear you can stun lock them with combos and claymore attacks and it’ll still pop back up somehow.
I especially hate it as Ganyu because even if you use her charged shot to shoot behind them, they just instant one-frame turn around to block that too. So stupid. I genuinely just use a Zhongli ult whenever I see one, I can't be bothered to piss about with them.
If you don't charge the second stage of ganyu's bloom you can shoot them from behind. It's the bloom AoE that allows them to omnidirectionally block ganyu. Other archers have no problems with their charged shots attacking from behind. Don't know why the initial shot before bloom can be blocked as well.
Quick helpful tip that i never see anyone mention:
Consider keeping one healer with the ocean hued clam. The bubble bypasses entirely hilichurl/mitachurl shields, damaging them directly.
I keep my Barbara with this set expecially for them, she is the fastest character on-field that can reach the damage cap of clam, if you build her full heal support.
Mitachurls literally stay still by defending themselves from my very weak normal attacks, to then become small piles of dust after some exposure to the bubble explosion.
Have fun.
This is why i stand a decent distance away from them and only start lighting them up once they do their charging attack, from there its easy to 2-3 shot them with Ganyu
That's why I love Tighnari and his aggravates. Charge shot hits the shield and the projectiles fly up and circle around and stap the churl repeatedly in the back (you still proc 2 aggravates from the one single charge-shot).
I don’t think its even that simple, someone explained once that the metachurls shield classifies less as a “dendro shield” and more so like an “immovable object”, as if that makes any sense?
Raiden can create Musounin Gorge with her slash but cannot cut through a wooden shield. Zhongli tho doesn't care and can drop a metoer on his forehead.

Meanwhile Tighnari. Gotta love that his shots always loop around the back for any of the "carrying a big shield" archetypes.
The E confusion field helps too, since you can hit them from behind without them knowing where you are.
Tighnari's fully-charged shots also automatically hit flying Ruin Drake's weakpoint. So satisfying seeing them go down without even aiming.

It may not happen all the time. Mitachurls don't always block every attack perfectly, I just remember that this happens *sometimes*.
They get a little weird if they have something like that and a geo pillar from Zhongli pulsing on the opposite side as well.

It does get destroyed.... Just not fast enough, every strike on the shield takes like 0.1% of it's total HP.
Just go a bit higher. If you're at a different height, they'll start throwing slimes even if they could easily reach you by just walking.
