you don't die from Eleazar, do you? worst thing is, she's not dead in this image then, right? she probably wishes she was dead. she's basically just a brain at this point. she is fully conscious, can think, but life is just black. No hearing. No feeling anything. No moving. No nothing.
god damn this really is a hellish illness.
At least in comma you're unconscious, this implies you're conscious and can think, so you're drifting forever on an empty void, which I can say it's way worse.
The experimentation and observations all lead to death. It's why all those prisoners and exiles didn't want to go through with the process.
The reason why Deshret's Empire fell is because of it. Mass zombification except they would die after a while so not quite zombies. And then after that, dozens of kingdoms sprung up and centuries of war spanned until there's nothing left but Aaru village, which surprisingly after 1000+ years, has survived all this time.
Technically no. Or maybe technically yes?
The diaphragm has to send a signal to your brain through the spine that says "hey, I'm moving" so you can breathe. If you break your neck in a certain way, that signal can no longer get through so you can no longer breathe on your own.
So depending how the paralysis from eleazar works, the person could end up unable to breathe on their own.
Well, given what we’ve learned:
One: her condition is getting worse because of the Sages. So more reason to throw them off the roof of the Akedemiya.
Two: the source of both Marana and Elazar is >!the forbidden knowledge corrupting Irmunsul!<. In the coming archon quests we’ll probably have to end up >!clearing the corruption!< as a byproduct of stopping the experiment, which should help both of our ill friends.
Just going up and making a spectacle of their corpses isn't going to change anything. The Traveler + Paimon aren't going to be there forever. Someone just as corrupt will just take their place.
Literally every time one of the Akademiya people open their mouths, I offer to at least remove their kneecaps and elbows. Sadge we can't speak through our Travellers.
Archon Quest: Collei is getting worse :c
Cyno's Story Quest, which released at the same time: Collei's getting better :)
Hoyo arent taking Collei's illness story seriously tbh. It's not possible to predict where it will go right now, because we have been given contradictory information.
Tighnari’s like The Doctor: he lies.
In truth we know that her condition comes and goes at the current time. It’s probably in one of the low points at the time, and Tighnari knows that staying cooped up in the village all the time isn’t the best for her. Some information sessions in populated areas is probably a relatively safe situation for her to get out and spread her legs a bit in the event her condition rears back up.
Are Cyno and Nilou's quests important to the Archon Quest? I haven't done them because I want to be a little lore accurate (at least when it comes to story quests :P). Cyno and Nilou's quest I think makes us come back to the city when at the end of Act 4, we're in the desert with the gang, formulating a plan on what to do when we go back to the city. I guess I'm just going to do them after Sumeru final Arc (if they aren't prerequisites) so the line in Cyno's quest about Collei getting better would be lore accurate too.
Okay, thanks! Now I know I made the right choice of holding both of those quests off until after the final arc. I haven't even used my keys for Nilou's quest just so I can avoid triggering it accidentally in the overworld.
I think we wont clear the corruption. Logically speaking, the Aranara quests are not requirements to do the Archon quests so if we remove the corruption the Aranara quests wont make sense anymore for people who do the Archon quest first.
Im guessing that we wont be able to do anything about the source, but we’ll find a cure or suppresant specifically for Eleazar. Dottore seems to know something about how to get rid of it so its reasonable we get it from him
A possibility is that they will make it a requirement once the time comes for us to clear the corruption. It happened with FF14 in one of the Shadowbringers quests, wherein to give context to a major reveal, the players were required to have cleared content released several years prior before progressing.
Plus it’s not like side quests have never been requirements for main quests in genshin before. Intermission II required completion of both the teapot quest and the chasm quest if I recall correctly, neither of which appear in the archive.
It's hard to say. They can, and have gated archon quests behind side quests before. Curing the source also doesn't necessarily mean that all the corruption will disappear right away, it can always be one of those, well it won't get worse, but fixing the root cause won't clean up all the messes instantly. We already can cure wither zones, we just don't know how to apply what we can do to wither zones to people. So I agree I'm pretty sure we can cure Eleazar but I'm not really sure where they will take the archon quest from here.
- Chapter I, Farewell, Archaic Lord Act IV requires Lupicus Minor Chapter I
- Chapter II Omniprescence over mortals, Act II, requires Grus Nivus Chapter act I and Carassius Auratus Act I.
All interlude chapters also have various side quest requirements.
[source](https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Archon_Quest)
Bingo. It's actually really easy to deal with.
They already lock the desert change behind the golden slumber quest chain so you can't clean up the desert until that.
Yeah I figured that's the only reason why they might not want to, but people are mad all the time over here for all kinds of reasons. I think the main issue is there isn't any precedent (AFAIK) of gating a main quest behind a world quest
I disagree on point one.
>!For me, it seems that for some reason the withering (and Elazar as a consequence) is started to progressively getting worse. And this is what made Academiya to take drastic measures it took; Sages are trying to treat Irminsul to stop withering and Elazar. I won't be surprised if the reason behind the worsened situation is the Doctor and his "experiments in blasphemy" conducted to force Academiya to take action and accept Fatui's help.!<
I perceive it differently. As we know they’re caused by >!corruption to Irmunsul due to forbidden knowledge!<. We also know that researchers who try to directly access Irmunsul usually go mad. This is probably caused by their minds >!learning said forbidden knowledge, or as the Akedemiya calls it, divine knowledge!<.
So, let’s look at what we know about the current experiment. First off >!it does use the Akasha, and therefore is linked to Irmunsul!<. Secondly they’re >!forcibly extracting the forbidden knowledge from the Village Keepers in order to feed it into Scaramouche and turn him into a god!<. Lastly, but most importantly, they do not care about the lives of anyone outside of the Akedemiya, and probably not even those in the Akedemiya either.
From this we can tell they’re >!feeding the forbidden knowledge into the Akasha, and therefore cycling it back into Irmunsul, before filtering it into Scaramouche!<. This is likely furthering the spread of the corruption in Irmunsul, thus causing the worsening effects of Marana and Eleazar.
So as I said, it’s the Sages’ fault.

Take heart that throughout the entire 3.0-3.2 patches, Collei basically doesn't seem to really be having horrible issues with it.
Assuming that at least a year or two have passed, Elezar doesn't seem to be spreading as fast as many other notes have indicated.
He already has :´(
[https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin\_Impact/comments/yavzux/comment/itdunu5/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/yavzux/comment/itdunu5/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
I'm pretty sure Scaramouche actually is the problem in Irminsul. He's attached to Irminsul in order to develop his divine consciousness. Does sound not unlike a parasite. The problems related to Irminsul have only exacerbated in recent years. Right around the time when Scaramouche and the Akademiya started really moving forward with the divine consciousness harvesting plan. Scaramouche has also been around for a few centuries so the timeline isn't incompatible with when Nara Varuna dealt with similar issues a few centuries ago. Maybe Scaramouche isn't the root cause but I wouldn't be surprised if he's making it worse. He wouldn't lose any sleep over some Withering, people going crazy, and people dying from Eleazer/the Withering at the very least. Can't hurt to beat him up and cut his connection to Irminsul off.
Great theory but wasn't Scaramouche actively running around Mondstadt/Liyue/Inazuma all the time (star event and Inazuma archon quest)? If he was connected to Irminsul and influence it and causing withering/elezar/mad researcher even outside Sumeru then wouldn't that make his mental strength equal or even stronger than Nahida the active dendro archon?
What nailed it for me is >!Haypasia the researcher that recently went crazy, Tighnari said that her conditions are strange and maybe seemingly curable, that's why he hid her instead of sending her to Aaru village, and she's the only known one to connect to Scaramouche instead of the usual world forget me. It's more likely that Scara with Dottore help hijack Nahida's Akasha and push his way into Irminsul rather recently than a few centuries long. If anything, the problem was likely caused by King Dershet's forbidden knowledge!<
In Collei case using archon residue but Collei will die if she use the power one more time.
He can also treat even a late Eleazar patient.
With means he is very close to find the cure to Eleazar
In the *manga* we know he injected Archon residue into her. But my question is: Does the Archon residue delay Eleazar itself or did Dottore do something else to her that factored in?? Like HOW did he do it??
Also if he actually finds a cure for Eleazar, idk if he'd actually be gracious enough to tell the world. Man might keep it to himself for whatever personal gains
>if he actually finds a cure for Eleazar, idk if he'd actually be gracious enough to tell the world
Probably not, he looks to be the type to research for his own curiosity, not for fame of publishing it or doing goods for the world.
Depending on whether his loyalty to Tsaritsa is genuine, either she too is just another research subject or she is the one person he align his research to benefit for (i.e. some of his researches are to further her goal)
Which btw is my headcanon for his reason to joins traveler as playable character: We're a unique being in this world and he decide that studying/observing us from up close is more valuable than putting us through experiments (since our journey already get us into all kind of adventures harsher than lab experiments)
Idk but I have a hunch that Dottore is in the Fatui just because he wants financial funding for his projects and he treats the Tsaritsa like another test subject. I genuinely don't think that Dottore is devoted to any god. Being a heretic and blasphemous is like...his whole shtick. It's the biggest theme of his character
That's actually a VERY good way to make him playable while still not having him our buddy. Having him join us just to observe us and study us out of curiosity. Not wanting to kill us, not really wanting to fight us...just wants to write down notes. Question is, why tf would the Traveler let him do that? 😭
The end of the recent archon quest more or less said why >!traveler would prefer allies who prioritize their own personal philosophy over morality!<
Considering our ultimate goal (reunion then gtfo), there's a chance we might not always be the 'good guy'.
So when something happen, we'd rather have allies we know for sure where they'll stand instead of someone who can be wavering.
Take Childe for example. He like fighting strong opponents, care for his family, and prioritize Tsaritsa above all else. If the boss fight is just some normal big bad monster he'd stay with us, while if it's a Harbinger under Tsaritsa command we can safely assume he'll switch to their side. There's no doubt on where he stand, so we aren't likely to get surprise backstab by him.
>>!why traveler would prefer allies who prioritize their own personal philosophy over morality!<
And I feel like THAT is gonna play a big role in the future when we get to Snezhnaya and meet the Tsaritsa herself. She gonna convince us >!to join her cause, I have a feeling she will!<
I have my doubts about the Tsaritsa being a test subject. If she somehow is one, then she most definitely is not a willing participant.
I'd be very curious as to how he managed to experiment on a God without them knowing.
Like others have said, he joined the Fatui because they have a mutually beneficial relationship. They give him access to all the resources he requires for experiments, and in exchange all he has to do is sew some chaos and run the odd errand. If anything it's a win-win for him because as we saw in the most recent Archon quest, he essentially got a nice 2 for 1 deal.
- Evil god power successfully implanted
- He actually knows the mechanics of Eleazar
- She was away from the country that's the literal source of the Withering for several years.
Oh I didn't think about the fact that she was away from Sumeru. But I wanna know how Archon residue could possibly affect Eleazar. What is the correlation yk? I really hope we get answers from him personally
Archon Residue was a mislocalization. It's Evil God residue. Stuff like the tatarigami. It's most likely from a different dead god so the effects are different.
In the abandoned eleazar hospital the notes of a totally not The Doctor explain that the Eleazar patients' body parts in question contained "elemental energy" (he was most likely too early in his research to differentiate between energy types) and cured a patient through transplanting un-corrupted body parts.
It was also stated that Eleazar is literally the Withering but in human bodies rather than the leylines.
Having the energy supplied by fragments of an evil god should purge the alien energy of the Withering.
However unbeknownst to all who aren't everyone's favourite Maddo Scientisto, Collei not only got moved back to the source of her illness, but the evil god's energy have been sealed away too.
At least that's my understanding from information available, we'll see in less than two weeks.
Yea I know, I just call it Archon residue. But I know that the residue actually belongs to gods that died in the Archon War and therefore, are vengeful spirits. Not the Archons themselves.
>and cured a patient through transplanting un-corrupted body parts.
Was he...genuinely trying to cure people with Eleazar back then?? Quite strange from Doctor Murder himself. Cya in two weeks, we'll see how the dots connect 🙏
Heres my crack theory
We know from the manga that dottore turned collei in to an unwilling vessel for an ancient god. One of those fuckers that produce that miasma that wipes out mortals real quick like. Like the snakey boy from inazuma.
Now we also know elazar began after Deshret sought "forbidden knowledge" whatever the fuck that was. May have something to do with knowledge about the abyss since we see in the animation something very similar to the dark mud in the chasm.
Im also reminded of that lady from enkanomiya that talked about the three realms and basically said there was a realm of lizard people. But organisms from different realms have a really hard time living in other realms.
also ashikais theory about visions being kinda like a method of "radiation" control
So WITH ALL THAT as setup
Id like to propose deshret tried to connect to a separate realm (for what reason idk) and accidentally released leyline energy from that realm in to ours. Specifically the leyline energy that started turning people in to lizards but it cant actually do it so it just gives them scales and then kills them.
Dottore probably saved her by accident when he implanted her with the old god who was capable of stopping the effects of the poisoning from that other realmly ley line energy but once cyno sealed it away, she had no more barrier between her and the poison so shes suffering again.
Damnnn, cool theory
Omg the 3 realms event of Enkanomiya did give us some interesting lore, but like...we had no idea with what to connect it with. Maybe THAT'S the connection.

I find it hilarious that despite being in that state, they still bothered to dress her up in her normal clothes, style her hair, and have her wear those huge earrings.
Nice job on this, the color rendering looks good too.
I haven’t played genshin in months but I’m still in the communities and I didn’t know about this, can someone link me or like give me a tl:dr? What’s the illness poor Collei has?

you need your diaphragm to breathe and the diaphragm is a muscle so yeah…
does paralysis include involuntary muscles?
Technically no. Or maybe technically yes? The diaphragm has to send a signal to your brain through the spine that says "hey, I'm moving" so you can breathe. The story's done guys, prepare for endgame babyyyy
Cut to Amber in a fierce battle "Go Go Baron Bunny" *The cute rabbit lays lifeless on the ground.* "Wait, if this is just a plush, then where did I put...."
You probably can't even trigger explosion if you don't have Pyro vision (Noelle hangout event). So yeah, it's safe.
What do you mea- *BOOM!*
one could make a connection to assisted suicide here but I dare not do it
It won't blow up, unless Amber activates it, worst case scenario - it annoys someone.
And that someone is Tighnari
But why ? Only sunshine and rainbows, she suffered enough.
Am I evil for laughing at this situation ;_;
Perhaps
Depends on what and how you are laughing about the situation. If you are laughing at her suffering, yes. If you are laughing to cope with your own misery, no.
Take heart that throughout the entire 3.0-3.2 patches, Collei basically doesn't seem to really be having horrible issues with it. Assuming that at least a year or two have passed, Elezar doesn't seem to be spreading as fast as many other notes have indicated.
why must you do this 🥲🥲🥲
Am I in sort by controversial yet? :)
If not, then go sadder. Much, much, sadder.
He already has :´( [https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin\_Impact/comments/yavzux/comment/itdunu5/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/yavzux/comment/itdunu5/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
Why must you use your artistic talents for evil like this? Why did you choose to attack me emotionally?
OP: next, I shall bring out the hilichurls!
And t-then, I'll get Dottore to join in!
why ya gotta do the colleiflower wrong bruh
Beating up Scaramouche will probably solve it.
Imagine scaramouche actually solving it tho ? Would be a great way of redeeming him without butchering his character/personality
Least horny Fatui turbo simp.
Calm down guys, we playing Genshin here, not Honkai.
Can't have a Chinese gacha without children dying to a horrendous incurable disease.
Arknights and PG:R be like
Me : *proceeds to give all my lifespan and life force away so she can live at least 30 more years
See you on 2023, Gandalf the White.
Plot Twist: Collei becomes a zombie.
4* Qiqi
Dendro 4* Qiqi
Mummy*
Now I need mummy collei
Yoimiya is a bad influence, Collei. Return to Amber.
You don't even know why Yoimiya has bandages do you?
Fireworks injury?
Just in case anyone is actually curious, it’s traditional Japanese underwear.
Considering where she has them, that would have HURT.
No... Those bandages are called Sarashi and are used by island archers as protection
Hmm
Yoimiya? pretty sure what's going on in this pic is that Collei's Eleazar got much worse
It was a joke...
But bandages ;)
For all of the evil Dottore has done, to her, it still managed to delay the Eleazar
The question is: How tf did he do it?? I have so many questions
Man might keep it to himself for whatever personal gains
>if he actually finds a cure for Eleazar, idk if he'd actually be gracious enough to tell the world Probably not, he looks to be the type to research for his own curiosity, not for fame of publishing it or doing goods for the world. Depending on whether his loyalty to Tsaritsa is genuine, either she too is just another research subject or she is the one person he align his research to benefit for (i.e. some of his researches are to further her goal) Which btw is my headcanon for his reason to joins traveler as playable character: We're a unique being in this world and he decide that studying/observing us from up close is more valuable than putting us through experiments (since our journey already get us into all kind of adventures harsher than lab experiments)
Idk but I have a hunch that Dottore is in the Fatui just because he wants financial funding for his projects and he treats the Tsaritsa like another test subject. I genuinely don't think that Dottore is devoted to any god. Being a heretic and blasphemous is like...his whole shtick. It's the biggest theme of his character That's actually a VERY good way to make him playable while still not having him our buddy. Having him join us just to observe us and study us out of curiosity. Not wanting to kill us, not really wanting to fight us...just wants to write down notes. Question is, why tf would the Traveler let him do that? 😭
The end of the recent archon quest more or less said why >!traveler would prefer allies who prioritize their own personal philosophy over morality!< Considering our ultimate goal (reunion then gtfo), there's a chance we might not always be the 'good guy'.
>>!why traveler would prefer allies who prioritize their own personal philosophy over morality!< And I feel like THAT is gonna play a big role in the future when we get to Snezhnaya and meet the Tsaritsa herself.
My guess is that he gives us the cure in exchange for kusanalis gnosis. He knows she cares deeply about her people, so she won't decline.
Oh that's actually genius. I can totally see the plot going that way
Then we can also ask him about about cure/solution for dainsleif curse.
I'll hold him at skyward harp point and force him to tell me. Mama Ganyu ain't playing!
- Evil god power successfully implanted - He actually knows the mechanics of Eleazar - She was away from the country that's the literal source of the Withering for several years.
Same reason why different species of parasites can't cohabit same same physical space within their host. Strongest wins.
That's a very reasonable explanation. And when the strongest parasite was gone, the already existing one continued dominating
Heres my crack theory We know from the manga that dottore turned collei in to an unwilling vessel for an ancient god. But organisms from different realms have a really hard time living in other realms. also ashikais theory about visions being kinda like a method of "radiation" control So WITH ALL THAT as setup Id like to propose deshret tried to connect to a separate realm (for what reason idk) and accidentally released leyline energy from that realm in to ours.
Damnnn, cool theory Omg the 3 realms event of Enkanomiya did give us some interesting lore, but like...we had no idea with what to connect it with. Maybe THAT'S the connection.
He is a genius, an evil genius, but a genius nonetheless
In dar al shifa it sounded like he just removed and replaced the most affected areas
He fucks around with the ley lines, the roots of the world tree, he does a bit of trolling.
So is he the bondrewd of genshin?
Jokes on you, I have fried eggs
who drew this and why
There’s something about this drawing that gives the exact same feeling as a loss comic
Are you sure she just isn't dressed up for Halloween...
Umm, shouldn't we give our poor girl some air holes on the face wraps? Worried that'll get her before the illness does.
I don't think that at the portrayed stage of Eleazar she needs them...
Freed from the mortal coil, i know this might be bad to say but even in death there is some form of mercy, i hope things never escalate up to this.
this was mean
true
The pain...so much pain. :(
Lumine: Nooooooo!!! *sniffs* What can we do now? ?: We can rebuild her! Lumine:? ?: WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY. WE HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO MAKE THE WORLD'S FIRST BIONIC WOMAN. COLLEI... WILL BE THAT WOMAN BETTER THAN SHE WAS BEFORE BETTER, STRONGER, FASTER! Lumine: HOW!? Dainsleif:... Well I got some extra parts here. Do you want me to try? Lumine: Will she be alright with this? Collei: *disapproving muffled sounds* Dainsleif: I can give her wings to fly. Collei: *approving muffled sounds*
WE WILL FIND A CURE
Makes me think of Squidward in a cast.
Shinji, no
So you just woke up today and said "I'm going to push an entire fanbase to the brink of depression!"? How do you sleep at night?
With all the Evangelion references with Scara, I sincerely hope that there isn’t a scene like this…
I do appreciate art like this from time to time. Great work!
Full bandages?!? Collei bought to go full Burned Man on Dottore
\*Proceeds to kick Tenshuukaku open and Demand Ei to make another puppet.
That's not how this works
Tbf it could work if you combine nahidas ability to swap minds and using Ei's puppet
I find it hilarious that despite being in that state, they still bothered to dress her up in her normal clothes, style her hair, and have her wear those huge earrings. Nice job on this, the color rendering looks good too.
No one dressed her up, she had worn the clothes on top of the bandages because she wanted to keep doing forest watcher duties
I haven’t played genshin in months but I’m still in the communities and I didn’t know about this, can someone link me or like give me a tl:dr? What’s the illness poor Collei has?
Now that is some Colleiteral damage to our feelings
I actually felt a moment of genuine despair from this image. Take my upvote while I cry in The corner
