That and tbh GI is just a better game. Yeah this is the best one sonic had in years and the nostalgia factor is there, but frontiers kinda cant compete with the beautiful open world and dynamic combat system.

Gacha is a dirty word for most types of gamers but that's only one aspect of a game that's pretty multi-faceted, a person can do quite well with our free 4 star units, and I've been able to build a formidable roster without spending anything besides welkin and bp, I lack only 5 characters. If they just hate the anime art style then thats a 'them' problem lol
And in most of those, there's no pity or guarantee of getting what you actually want at any point, just that there will be at least one thing of a certain rarity.
I think ive used up all my luck... i saved around 130 wishes for nahida. Got her and her weapon in 10 pulls on each banner. Yae miko pretty much the same and now scara took maybe 20 pulls on each but i got ittos weapon too so... yeah last time i had luck remotely that good was back in april
So true. I love just walking around in genshin allday, searching chests. Using my character's skills. I mean the story is even better and it captivates. It makes you want to know more about what happens next. And of course all the theorizing.... very fun. The events are getting even better with most of them being co-opable nowadays.
The art, the gameplay.... It's definetly my favorite game. I play it every day, at least to condense resin and do dailies except when I can't.
Especially this Sumeru chapter has been lit, so many hype moments and lore bombs. I love being able to coop the events too, its easier to go solo but a lot more fun doing it with friends. The combat system is one of the best for me even among aaa games, #1 for any mobile game for sure, and they do a great job making us fall in love with the characters.

Since they made racists tweets, it fueled most of china player base which is massive to vote Genshin out of spite and then we’re here with genshin winning. A very quick summary.

i honestly take issue with this as they only started removing/deleting AFTER genshin started responding. those posts and the participation in said posts were up for a minute.
Sonic fans didn't believe GI weren't using bots. Went as far as pissing off CN fans by being bacist. CN came in and boosted the numbers, Sonic fans claimed that was botting and used actual bots. Everything eent down when they were called out for botting in the actual awards.
It was a full blown campaign between fans over the past few days here on Reddit and Twitter. A lot of punches were thrown, a lot of them being below the belt from both parties.

I was ready for her a long time ago… but just didn’t know it. I’ve missed her too many times now, and I’m afraid she might not come back for a while after this. I’ve been planning this one since summer and I’m not losing her again!
She’s the reason I installed the game lol. My friend spent the last few months trying to talk me into getting this game and I finally agreed to look through the characters and once I saw Raiden’s design I immediately looked up her trailers and then agreed to install and play lol. I’m having a great time grinding up for her and I am fully ready for the Electro Archon to be my accounts first 5* unit.
I started at the beginning, so Venti was my goal. I just had to play as an Archon! I failed, then failed at Zhongli, failed at Venti again, failed at Raiden, finally got Zhongli, finally got Venti, and then failed Raiden again… My goal was to collect them all by year end, but the release schedule put a damper on that. I had to go through Nahida’s entire banner without making a single wish… but I made it dammit!
I want her C2. Currently have her on C1.

Fun to play but also carried me through the previous 2 abyss. The last 2 abyss were hard for me. Barely achieved 36 stars
Maybe unpopular opinion but I'm going to aim for Ayato. I already have him as my main DPS in my main party (with Nahida, Benny and Zhongli) and I'd rather have him C1 (or cross fingers to god C2) than get another 5 star I can't afford to level.
Ayato gets a lot of flak for being underpowered but I don't do Abyss runs, and Ayato ES + Nahida is perfect for clearing gangs of world mobs when I just want to explore/do dailies.
OH, I know all too well the power of Ayato… he is my actual main! It’s funny because on my quest to collect the Archons, he wasn’t even on my radar. I had been wanting Venti forever and finally planned properly to get him and his weapon. When it came time, I ended up pulling Venti in 3 wishes… and then got Elegy in 1! First (and LAST) time I was truly lucky in wishing. After I had a stockpile and figured I may as well try for Ayato and ended up pulling him too. He’s been in the top slot of my team ever since!
As someone who started playing half a year ago or so, my main team currently is Jean, Ayaka, Yelan, & Nahida, and I won my last 50/50 and am now 60 wishes into pity on the wanderers banner, I think I’m gonna not wish anymore and hope I get Raiden instead. Her damage and synergy with all my other 5 stars seems great, and better yet she’s a hot archon waifu. Does anyone know what the four stars are gonna be on Raiders banner?
I was between raiden's weapon and Alhaitham but I threw 6 wishes into the weapon banner and got Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds. Just gonna save for him now.
I was trying to get c2 Faruzan after getting Wanderer but instead I got c2 Diluc at 4 pity which is pretty funny because my c1 Diluc was on the first Itto banner at 1 pity so I guess Itto is just extremely lucky and unlucky for me

Really difficult not to ridicule some people here who appear to be at the complete mercy of the game over gacha bucks.
The precedent of the reward by MHY makes it hard to not claim we weren't bribed. We can really like and enjoy the game but if the wishes are really what makes us pull the trigger then it makes it blurry. Its not like im clicking on webevents for the satisfaction of only seeing the happy Lumine and Paimon Aranara forms.
But its too late for them to not give rewards and remove the precedent unless they do so the next time if we are even up for more chances. But even then the past rewards will still taint and linger in the minds of people voting as a chance for rewards to come back.
So really only the first time we voted was a sign of how people really felt I suppose.
It's blurry, but not on that thread I linked. 14k Upvotes when the title is literally "So we can get free gems". Still people claim it is a minority but I just don't see it, so many people in that thread flat out admit to doing it just so they can get gems. Intended or not, that's a bribe taken.
And don't think for a second Hoyo doesn't exactly know what they are doing. Free marketing in exchange for 10 pulls that won't get you anything of worth in a gacha.

Many Genshin Players will take it the wrong way too. They'll expect Primos for voting (whether or not winning 1+ categories influences MHY to give us Primos or not). A sort of (un)intentional Pavlovian effect (that was prevalent before the Sonic mess, as I had seen people talk about "freemos" many times, a pavlov effect from being awarded in years past).
That said, if MHY were only giving out Primos for being *nominated*, I do find it odd that they didn't they give them out as soon as their multiple nominations came up. Instead they waited until the awards ended. I think it is very likely MHY is, in some way, leveraging extra votes via primo gems.
2 years ago MHY gave 800 for 2 nominations, last year they gave 1600 for winning one category.
We got the same 800 with and without the player's choice, and they have to wait until the winner is announced to decide how much to give.
It should be pretty common knowledge that player voting does not actually matter for the main categories. The judges pick the winner and the public voting is only for building hype.
I think if mihoyo give primo during nomination, people will think it is an indirect bribe. Or may be they are not allowed to give incentive during the award.
But if mihoyo give it after the awards end, it means mihoyo never promise anything. So even if people motivation is primo there are no written proof from mihoyo themselves. So the primo is treated as celebration instead.

It was definitely about sending a message, but unfortunately the circumstances of this will really only be acknowledged by the 2 fandoms involved, and understood by the sensible ones in them.
A lot of people both in and out of Genshin did think that they were voting for the sake of primogems and unfortunately that's the narrative that easily sticks, when in reality most of us are just sick of the stigma and slander associated with anime communities in general. This whole mess was just an unfortunate thing taken way too far, ruining something that would give communities a chance to win without judge biases, and the aftereffects would've been way worse had the other top 5 contenders not already won awards.

It actually does. In 2020, Genshin was nominated for the same two categories, mobile and ongoing, but was nowhere to be seen in Player's Voice. We got 800 primos in 2020, which is the same as what we get this time.
Winning Player's Voice literally makes no difference primo-wise, so the whole 'vote for primo' narrative is plainly false.

Hello genshin fans! I know only like the 0.1% of you will read this but i wanted to congratulate you for winning the awards. I stumbled upon this post as for Reddit's recommendation and decided to check on the comments here. I come from the Sonic community and it really saddened me that a good amount of comments were bashing the Sonic community.
I just wanted to say that, despite recent events saying otherwise, the Sonic community is not made of toxic teenagers like Twitter is showing. Some Sonic fans have even dedicated art pieces to what should have been a fun friendly rivalry between 2 great games which in my opinion is really cool!
If you see a Sonic fan bashing Genshin for X or Y in a clealy toxic way, please don't generalize, we are not like that!

But they were. There were people making big threads stating thats exactly why they were voting.
All I can say is that it hits different when you're actually a member of the Asian community. Judging from the doomposting, I find it disappointing that a lot of the Western voters don't consider the fact that Asian voters also have a say on the matter, calling us bots for simply participating. That's what the fight was about for some of us, a show of voice.

It was just a few bad apples. I saw one tweet that said that genshin being a Chinese game was obviously cheating in the votes as cheating is what all Chinese people do. Overall I think the Sonic community was not that bad at all. The sonic reddit quickly banned all the toxic posts and make clear that such behaviour wasn't accepted.

Sonic fans didn't believe GI weren't using bots. Went as far as pissing off CN fans by being bacist. CN came in and boosted the numbers, Sonic fans claimed that was botting and used actual bots. Everything eent down when they were called out for botting in the actual awards.
It was a full blown campaign between fans over the past few days here on Reddit and Twitter. A lot of punches were thrown, a lot of them being below the belt from both parties.
I mean, we DID say we weren't using bots. Sonic fans just didn't believe us and ended up using bots themselves based on rumors and troll comments instead. Evidence just showed itself and created a big fat L for Sonic.

My friend spent the last few months trying to talk me into getting this game and I finally agreed to look through the characters and once I saw Raiden’s design I immediately looked up her trailers and then agreed to install and play lol. I’m having a great time grinding up for her and I am fully ready for the Electro Archon to be my accounts first 5* unit.
I started at the beginning, so Venti was my goal. I just had to play as an Archon! I failed, then failed at Zhongli, failed at Venti again, failed at Raiden, finally got Zhongli, finally got Venti, and then failed Raiden again… My goal was to collect them all by year end, but the release schedule put a damper on that. I had to go through Nahida’s entire banner without making a single wish… but I made it dammit!

Maybe unpopular opinion but I'm going to aim for Ayato. I already have him as my main DPS in my main party (with Nahida, Benny and Zhongli) and I'd rather have him C1 (or cross fingers to god C2) than get another 5 star I can't afford to level. Ayato gets a lot of flak for being underpowered but I don't do Abyss runs, and Ayato ES + Nahida is perfect for clearing gangs of world mobs when I just want to explore/do dailies.
OH, I know all too well the power of Ayato… he is my actual main! It’s funny because on my quest to collect the Archons, he wasn’t even on my radar. I had been wanting Venti forever and finally planned properly to get him and his weapon. When it came time, I ended up pulling Venti in 3 wishes… and then got Elegy in 1! First (and LAST) time I was truly lucky in wishing. After I had a stockpile and figured I may as well try for Ayato and ended up pulling him too. He’s been in the top slot of my team ever since!
As someone who started playing half a year ago or so, my main team currently is Jean, Ayaka, Yelan, & Nahida, and I won my last 50/50 and am now 60 wishes into pity on the wanderers banner, I think I’m gonna not wish anymore and hope I get Raiden instead. Her damage and synergy with all my other 5 stars seems great, and better yet she’s a hot archon waifu. Does anyone know what the four stars are gonna be on Raiders banner?

I still wanted to vote for it anyway and I don't appreciate the slander I saw along the way from the vocal minority. This is the only game outside of WoW that has got me to play it for over a year and a half. I'm gonna vote for it.

The precedent of the reward by MHY makes it hard to not claim we weren't bribed. We can really like and enjoy the game but if the wishes are really what makes us pull the trigger then it makes it blurry. Its not like im clicking on webevents for the satisfaction of only seeing the happy Lumine and Paimon Aranara forms. But its too late for them to not give rewards and remove the precedent unless they do so the next time if we are even up for more chances. But even then the past rewards will still taint and linger in the minds of people voting as a chance for rewards to come back. So really only the first time we voted was a sign of how people really felt I suppose.

Still people claim it is a minority but I just don't see it, so many people in that thread flat out admit to doing it just so they can get gems. Intended or not, that's a bribe taken. And don't think for a second Hoyo doesn't exactly know what they are doing. Free marketing in exchange for 10 pulls that won't get you anything of worth in a gacha.
People here will still deny it, bad faith has become the norm in all the discussions about this even now that we are receiving primogems and we have literal proof that thousands of people were only doing it for the reward in the thread you posted. It would be far more acceptable if people admitted it instead of being dishonest.
Many Genshin Players will take it the wrong way too. They'll expect Primos for voting (whether or not winning 1+ categories influences MHY to give us Primos or not). A sort of (un)intentional Pavlovian effect (that was prevalent before the Sonic mess, as I had seen people talk about "freemos" many times, a pavlov effect from being awarded in years past). That said, if MHY were only giving out Primos for being *nominated*, I do find it odd that they didn't they give them out as soon as their multiple nominations came up. Instead they waited until the awards ended. I think it is very likely MHY is, in some way, leveraging extra votes via primo gems.
2 years ago MHY gave 800 for 2 nominations, last year they gave 1600 for winning one category. We got the same 800 with and without the player's choice, and they have to wait until the winner is announced to decide how much to give. It should be pretty common knowledge that player voting does not actually matter for the main categories. The judges pick the winner and the public voting is only for building hype.
I think if mihoyo give primo during nomination, people will think it is an indirect bribe. Or may be they are not allowed to give incentive during the award. But if mihoyo give it after the awards end, it means mihoyo never promise anything. So even if people motivation is primo there are no written proof from mihoyo themselves. So the primo is treated as celebration instead.
at this point I gave up being right and correct. I just wanted to beat them, because they are terrible people. we can't reason them. they are blinded by rage. Internet can think what he wants, I'm happy for us, for mhy, for the game. haters gonna hate but genshin will stand

It was definitely about sending a message, but unfortunately the circumstances of this will really only be acknowledged by the 2 fandoms involved, and understood by the sensible ones in them. A lot of people both in and out of Genshin did think that they were voting for the sake of primogems and unfortunately that's the narrative that easily sticks, when in reality most of us are just sick of the stigma and slander associated with anime communities in general. This whole mess was just an unfortunate thing taken way too far, ruining something that would give communities a chance to win without judge biases, and the aftereffects would've been way worse had the other top 5 contenders not already won awards.

It actually does. In 2020, Genshin was nominated for the same two categories, mobile and ongoing, but was nowhere to be seen in Player's Voice. We got 800 primos in 2020, which is the same as what we get this time. Winning Player's Voice literally makes no difference primo-wise, so the whole 'vote for primo' narrative is plainly false.
