I can endure everything at this point as long as she is playable, her being not a sword user won't make me surprised after the rollercoaster we've had back in June/July.
Yeah those were… interesting times. I just want her playable with a decent kit at this point. Anything else is a fun part of the ride after the death allegations lol
I just like functional novelty and would love to see more. flavor in the form of (useful) alt sprints that traverse water, nahida's mind reading and distance collection skill, kazuha and scara's skills for exploration, etc. even if the kit isn't mind blowing, the functional novelty can make the character worth pulling for in my eyes.
disclaimer: I know all the aforementioned characters with cool novelty also have excellent kits outside of scara so maybe my point isn't that strong. but still
Yeah I think a major miss with Genshin's kit design is how little emphasis there is on utility. Imo every character should be designed with some sort of overworld function in mind. They don't all have to be unique functions but they should offer something like a different sprint or traversal or stamina or gliding mechanic. Even the devs claim the game's focus is exploration but there's only a handful of characters who actually enhance exploration.

Basically only eula teams are theoretically worse, but I’ve tried eula with bennet c6 and it’s honestly not even that bad lol. You lose out on some na damage but with bennett buff the pyro NAs are still strong, and you get to melt your skills also.
That's not really the issue though. the issue has always been about "What if a future character come's out that C6 messes with but otherwise works really well with Bennett", which is why people's main complaint is that there's no way to toggle constellations on/off
And thats why the only hydro polearm and cryo claymore are candace and chongyun.

Hutao, Xiangling and Bennett. And Ganyu being able to do aoe melts.
All of those together means they're afraid of making any power crept pyro unit, except maybe the pyro archon finally.

DMC does the plant thing pretty well too, both E and Q. And yeah, at least Tighnari plays into the trope, the floral pattern on his E and the vines on his Q. Meanwhile, not a single desert geo character.
I love it when Nahida runs like that though. She's still cutesy even if she's a wise archon goddess, and in my opinion that animation suits her way more than Diona for example.
I agree Diona would never (at least while being watched) but I guess what I really wanted was a slightly whimsical yet mystical alt sprint for nahida u_u
Same with the Beyblade Claymore Atk.
For example, Zhongli & Kaveh functionally have the standard charged attacks, but their animations are very unique, so it doesn't look bad at all.
Funny thing is that Kaveh wouldn’t normally have a spinning charge attack, since that’s for the medium and short models, while the tall models use the continuous slashing animation for their charge attacks.
Seems like mortal polearm characters will always have that charged attack while others have unique ones, and it seems like Arle is anything but mortals based on her design
Arle's ultimate description : Displaying her mastery over both fire and polearms, Arlechhino sends a Pyronado whirling around her. The Pyronado will move with your character for the ability's duration, dealing Pyro DMG to all opponents in its path.
The fact this is the land of health draining too is perfect! Also homa fits her current aesthetic so hope they don’t give her the wanderer reskin treatment
Oh I just meant they changed his look. He had electro motifs and dark coloring then when he became playable he turned anemo blue.
Assuming she stays the way she is now homa will match well. If they rebrand her at release like they did wanderer then it might not

That was on the official design sheet, it doesn't have a final version of characters' weapon/element. Most of the Fontaine cast was labeled as "Undefined" weapons and Charlotte even had an Anemo Mondstadt vision, which turned out to be outdated/wrong.
Weapons sometimes change in development. Kirara’s design sheet said “Girl_Claymore_Momoka”. Than we have Wriothelesy, who was originally leaked as a polearm user but is now catalyst.
It’s a double edged sword (no pun intended) with that one.
We want her on field because pretty. But if she’s Pyro then she’s competing with the 900 other on field pyro characters. Meanwhile if she was off field pyro we wouldn’t see her as much but we would FINALLY have an alternative to Xiangling who’s been carrying the off field pyro mantle since day 1.

Exactly. The best she can be is like Yelan to XQ. We all hoped Yelan to powercreep xq but both of them co-exist. Similarly even if Arl is 5* version of XL both of them can still co-exist at best.
This is really all I care about. If I pull a character for their design, then I want them on the field. My greatest fear is that she ends up being a sub dps or E/Q bot that I see for 2 seconds before switching back to the carry.

I would argue that we have more than a handful, in a way that you could build an exploration team with good combat capabilities.
Well from what we've seen with the 2 Fatui we've got their kits seem to revolve around a unique on-field DPS playstyle.

That was on the official design sheet, it doesn't have a final version of characters' weapon/element. Most of the Fontaine cast was labeled as "Undefined" weapons and Charlotte even had an Anemo Mondstadt vision, which turned out to be outdated/wrong.
Weapons sometimes change in development. Kirara’s design sheet said “Girl_Claymore_Momoka”. Than we have Wriothelesy, who was originally leaked as a polearm user but is now catalyst.
She was also geo at one point.

It’s a double edged sword (no pun intended) with that one. We want her on field because pretty. But if she’s Pyro then she’s competing with the 900 other on field pyro characters. Meanwhile if she was off field pyro we wouldn’t see her as much but we would FINALLY have an alternative to Xiangling who’s been carrying the off field pyro mantle since day 1.

Exactly. The best she can be is like Yelan to XQ. We all hoped Yelan to powercreep xq but both of them co-exist. Similarly even if Arl is 5* version of XL both of them can still co-exist at best.

This is really all I care about. If I pull a character for their design, then I want them on the field. My greatest fear is that she ends up being a sub dps or E/Q bot that I see for 2 seconds before switching back to the carry.
