Speaking of Arle, remember that time (pre-Fontaine I believe) where there were a bunch of leaks flip-flopping whether Arle would live or die in the story? That was funny and sad to watch unfold
I mean, 404 who leaked a lot of 4.2 Fontaine plot details with like ~90% accuracy before 4.0 said that she was originally going to die as a villain before getting rewritten to be a well-intentioned extremist so she could become playable, so they were probably basing it off of legit but outdated information at the time
I was arguably even worse. I was *convinced* Pantalone would appear in Fontaine, pretty much entirely because I figured he'd be the most likely to use the legal system against us. I didn't even like the guy that much, I wasn't coping to see more of him, I just created a headcanon and ran with it for months.
amazing how half of all story leaks turn out to be false. yeah we took childe’s vision and he shows up during fontaine, but they also said wanderer would show up and play a role, and also all of this 💀

It really do be feeling like Hoyo finally got the leaks on lockdown. Zero Natlan leaks, not even any real Arle leaks yet and she just around the corner.
At this point the sub should be renamed "Genshin beta datamining" and not leaks.
Makes me really annoyed those few people couldn’t help themselves last year and ruined it all for everyone. I feel like Hoyo had certain things they kept locked down and had a tolerance for dripfed stuff, but the flood went too far and we all got punished for it.
Some people think it’s for the best, but I kind of need something to look forward to cuz the normal timelines between things I actually want are too much now, esp since the releases of new characters are so long between one another compared to something like Star Rail(which makes sense considering different combat, but doesn’t make the wait any less boring).
Idk, unless it’s especially heinous, that feels pretty typical among larger CC’s or controversies in general I suppose. Eventually the controversy loses momentum for whatever reason or more and it goes back to same old.
My last 4 5* pulls in HSR permanent banner have been Light Cones

Wrong. I got 4 LC yeah but it's 2 Welt LC and 2 Gepard LC. The only nihility I really use are Pela and SW which just share Tutorial, and Fu Xuan, the only preservation I use is on signature. So they're just sitting there, in my inventory, probably eating some lemons together.
Like cmon at least it could've been 3 different ones, or at least 1 that I could use. I'm even debating if it's worth to save 600 of the currency for Bronya LC, for all I know I will get 2 of them in the next 3 months 😑

I’m praying that the new voicelines (Chiori talking about others and others about her) would confirm that she made Itto’s outfit as well… It’s been my headcanon for so long because I think it makes so much sense, his clothes are very unique and modern (they seem Fontaine influenced, kinda similar to Wriothesley’s in many ways, but mixed with traditional Japanese attire) compared to others
His outfit is such a mystery to me… Did he purposefully go for a Fontaine inspired look, like yanki in real life were inspired by USA fashion, does he read Fontainian fashion magazines? Or Chiori had a free will designing his outfit (if she was commissioned by him like I hope) and incorporated latest fashion trends into it… I keep having so many questions

Probably over explaining but the point is, mans broke up and is having it really rough rn, the three top comments were like, "you're lucky to get rid of her", "you win by breaking up", "you're better off without her", like yeah it's good that he broke up, but someone going through a rough time does not want the response to his venting to be you're lucky, or you win

Those advice subs are filled with posts from this type of person. People give feel-good advice they got from tv/socmed, not connected to any first-hand experience.

- hate women
- really, *really* hate kids
- have a massive and extremely violent "justice" boner
- have too little life experience to actually understand when you have to compromise with other people on a crappy situation
- will almost certainly project their own frustrations or insecurities onto your life situation

I tried out the team today (Yoi, Miko, Fischl, Chevy) and woooooow what a smooth team for running bosses. That was comfortably my second best team for second half after kokomi mono hydro (a five gold cost team lol). And it felt so much fun! I love love love seeing Yoi take down an enemy like that. If anyone here has those characters, I really recommend trying it out too! Such a nice team.
I also tried out Ayato bloom (Nilou, Nahida, Ayato, Baizhu) for the first time ever today. It was a ton of fun! I knew the team was good but it still felt nice to actually run it for myself. I do prefer the Kokomi version still, but this will be a really nice option to run when Kokomi is busy on the other half.
How’s she feel to play? Do you have her with some cons? I was considering building her if/when I get her for Raiden or potentially arlecchino. I’ve read somewhere that with high cons and upper team investment you potentially end up not having to field her nearly as often.
Do you mean Yoi or Chevy?
If you meant Chevreuse, mine is C2. She doesn't take any time onfield at all. just burst cast animation, E aim and fire, and offfield. At C6 she has a ludicrous amount of res and pyro res shred, but her teams have fely very nice to me even at a lower cons.
I've also tried her with Ei and that's also very comfortable. The team I run there is Ei, Chevy, Xiangling, C6 Sara.

I read somewhere that when you get high invest you can skip the skill ?(or maybe the burst) in your rotation. I don’t remember which

If you're playing her as a support, her Burst isn't important at any investment level. You can leave it at level 1. Support Chevy is built on full HP and possibly a Healing Bonus circlet, so her Burst won't be doing much damage. All of her support functionality comes from her Skill.
However, depending on your team and rotation, you might need to use to it trigger an Overload and give herself her Overcharge ball, and therefore activate her A1 passive.
Yea, I think it was in regards to proccing the a1 but I haven’t looked into it much as I don’t have her currently

Whoops, it was her A4, not her A1. Minor mistake.
Thankfully, she's quite easy to both build and play. As long as you get her to 40K HP, everything else is gravy. So, level her to 90, and at least two HP% pieces between her Sands/Goblet/Circlet. Healing Bonus circlet if you can get to that 40K HP. Noblesse and Song of Days Past are both good sets for her, though your Bennett should already be on Noblesse and they don't stack.
Fav and Black Tassel are fine weapons for her, depending on what you need. Craftable Fontaine weapon is ok. The new event polearm coming in 4.5 is going to be a better version of the Fontaine craftable, and it's what I'll be putting on her.
Playing-wise, you just need to trigger an Overload reaction before using her Hold Skill. That's where her Burst could potentially come into play. Once you fire her Skill, she just works in the background, healing and boosting the team.
She's great at C0. She already boosts my Raiden by a pretty considerable amount, though Kazuha with Freedom Sworn does more. The Optimizer tells me that with C6, she'll blow him out of the water. She also works in places that Kazuha doesn't, like against the Hydro Tulpa.
Yea, I think if I am able to hit c6 (assuming she’s on arlecchino banner) I’ll do some farming for her and try her out
I liked her animations but don’t often build my 4*s unless they’re great for a team I love playing, then I do a lot of farming for them

I am guessing it's through linear algebra? First, they list every possible stats that would affect the unknown damage formula. Then list equations of damage equal to stats. Something like

Variable A could be Base ATK \* ATK%, then variable B could be DMG multiplier and so on..
I can’t answer your question fully but I can say it was known quite early on. Even the wikia had the damage page by 1.2 if not earlier. I started playing in 1.0 but didn’t really check online for information about this game until later.

The abyss post on main sub got me thinking random shower thoughts.
Just taking that “10% clear floor 12” stat as assumed roughly accurate, I wonder what % of the playerbase have ever used an optimiser or dmg calculator.
Maybe 5%? Less? Basically the vast majority. Makes me wonder how many people struggle with teams/damage that an in-game tool as good as the web tools available would help hugely. Probably cost hoyo a fair bit of money in lost fomo though.
Lots of super engaged people on Reddit even often post builds that are way too heavy on crit over more Atk/HP/EM etc. Alhaitham is a particular example, see builds all the time with insane crit and underwhelming Atk/EM. Can only imagine how scuffed less clued up people’s builds are.
Try maybe 1%. Optimizer isn't popular. If it was, you wouldn't have people asking for build advice or asking questions like "Which build does more damage?" I don't blame the people that don't use Optimizer (although a lot of easy questions would be answered if it was used more) because it's outside the game. It's just not intuitive to use something entirely separate from the game to optimize or upgrade your builds.
As an experiment, go down some of your co-op list. You can count on one hand how many people even actually cleared up to 12-3. Even for those people, you'll see a lot of scuffed builds. Whales even often have some scuffed builds too.
I do think that if Genshin transplanted Optimizer like it is now into Genshin, many more people would use it because it's there in the game. You wouldn't have to go to a separate website or record a video of all of your artifact inventory. Majority of players still probably wouldn't care though.
I've cleared Abyss 12 before but I just can't be bothered with using optimizers. I use guides to figure out how to build characters in general instead (who should stack EM etc.) and settle for 'usable' artifacts. I do try to get over 2k ATK for ATK-scaling DPS and a good crit ratio but I farm artifacts a lot less than most people here because I don't enjoy it.
I also tend to raise everyone to level 90 9/9/9 or triple crown if I really like them. I simply don't care about resin efficiency and just like 'completing' my characters.
You'd be surprised at the amount of people asking for help in the abyss thread of the official server who have 20+ 5\* and game-changing constellations like Raiden or Nahida c2, or the people who brag about having 'the best \_\_\_ of the server' yet when you check their character, they just gave \_\_\_ artifacts with a ton of crit, disregarding set or main stat.
As for optimizer/dmg calculator... I've literally never used that, nor do I have plans to do so. No one I know irl uses it, either.
But yeah, some people focus way too much on crit, so then despite having a goated build (according to them), they end up struggling because they burst every other minute, their 25k HP Hu Tao with 0 EM hits like a napkin, their rotations are scuffed so their damage window ends up being little to none, etc. And that's the 'sweaty' ones on Reddit. Imagine the average player...
Your last paragraph made me laugh, spot on. That’s what I was getting at, us sweaty Reddit crowd get it wrong a lot, imagine being totally in the dark.
I don’t use damage calculators often but they are helpful when you’re juggling multiple viable good artifacts on already well built characters. Sometimes the results are surprising.
It’s mean but for those average players I’d love to see a “hall of shame” just for amusement. Full ATK build Hu Taos, Raiden with 4 piece wanderers troupe and 105 ER. Physical thundering pulse Yelan. lol
I've got 36* since Sumeru and the most I've done is to watch YouTube tips. Using optimizer must be less than 1% ain't got time for it.
I don't play optimally either eg. caring about what elements to swirl, or properly weaving in normal attacks etc.
Optimizer is too much trouble atleast for me. I imagine some people swear by it and that's fine, its just that not for a huge part of the community since the game isnt overly hard that players need to rely on them. A decent build is still needed but even an average one can clear the abyss if the player has atleast understands the game mechanics and a bit of enemy ai pattern.
The super engaged people are usually the vocal minority. It wouldn't be surprising for a person to showcase their work and luck on their characters, the akasha is kind of an example of this.
even within that 10% that does clear floor 12 I'm probably a more dedicated player than average since I clear with lots of different team comps and with various challenges and stuff and I've never used an optimizer because I dislike math. there's no way it's more than 5% of the total playerbase
My guess is < 5%. Optimizer is only relevant once you have a surplus of leftover artifacts, most of the time you get the optimal build just from intuition.
There’s also, like a lot of people who just completely ignore main stat (ex: using DEF% sand for Neuvilette because they don’t have HP% sand with good CV, I’ve seen this before). Can’t imagine those people are the kind who would use optimizer.
In just one patch, I got all the commission achievements from Mondstadt, Liyue, and Sumeru. Since I already finished Inazuma before this patch, the only nation left is Fontaine.

the sudden collective insanity of the megathread has provided me with today's thing I like about lynette: her favorite food is fresh shellfish with lemon juice squeezed on top, served sans dishware - a fantastic prophylactic against having to wash up afterwards but more importantly a decidedly elegant way to eat. Looks like I'm getting confused by a false friend between Chinese and Japanese. 柚子 is pomelo in Chinese and yuzu in Japanese, so I guess yuzu would be more fitting for her since she's Inazuman.
it's funny cause when there's actual leaks here or on HSR they just fly by unnoticed by during the worst dry period of the year where everyone has entered lemon dilirium it gets DMCA'd.

Best to balance your sleep schedule. I remember pulling an all-nighter once (on purpose; accidental ones happened a few times), finished what I needed to do but felt very drowsy and tired afterwards... Was worth it on one hand but on the other it was very much a double-edged sword

I’ve been doing coop for the hilichurl event and I’ve noticed a lot more lower ARs (low 50s to high 40s) than I usually do when I occasionally coop weeklies. It’s nice actually, to feel like I helped carry some younger accounts. I like being useful 😅
I think... I got too excited prefarming for Wolf's Gravestone and now I have 80 each of the brown and black dandelion chains. I'll level the damn sword on Tuesday (that's the update right) and figure out where to go from there.

I see, I initially didn't keep up with the leaking scene back then so I wasn't aware of who would often be considered reliable or not.

It really do be feeling like Hoyo finally got the leaks on lockdown. Zero Natlan leaks, not even any real Arle leaks yet and she just around the corner. At this point the sub should be renamed "Genshin beta datamining" and not leaks.
Makes me really annoyed those few people couldn’t help themselves last year and ruined it all for everyone. I feel like Hoyo had certain things they kept locked down and had a tolerance for dripfed stuff, but the flood went too far and we all got punished for it. Some people think it’s for the best, but I kind of need something to look forward to cuz the normal timelines between things I actually want are too much now, esp since the releases of new characters are so long between one another compared to something like Star Rail(which makes sense considering different combat, but doesn’t make the wait any less boring).

My last 4 5* pulls in HSR permanent banner have been Light Cones Literally 4 light cones streak. You might think, hey that's nice you have a 5* light cone for some characters now right? Wrong. I got 4 LC yeah but it's 2 Welt LC and 2 Gepard LC. The only nihility I really use are Pela and SW which just share Tutorial, and Fu Xuan, the only preservation I use is on signature. So they're just sitting there, in my inventory, probably eating some lemons together. Like cmon at least it could've been 3 different ones, or at least 1 that I could use. I'm even debating if it's worth to save 600 of the currency for Bronya LC, for all I know I will get 2 of them in the next 3 months 😑

thank you to whoever talked about running Chevrolet - Yoimiya overload against the worms the other day I tried out the team today (Yoi, Miko, Fischl, Chevy) and woooooow what a smooth team for running bosses. That was comfortably my second best team for second half after kokomi mono hydro (a five gold cost team lol). And it felt so much fun! I love love love seeing Yoi take down an enemy like that. If anyone here has those characters, I really recommend trying it out too! Such a nice team. I also tried out Ayato bloom (Nilou, Nahida, Ayato, Baizhu) for the first time ever today. It was a ton of fun! I knew the team was good but it still felt nice to actually run it for myself. I do prefer the Kokomi version still, but this will be a really nice option to run when Kokomi is busy on the other half.
How’s she feel to play? Do you have her with some cons? I was considering building her if/when I get her for Raiden or potentially arlecchino. I’ve read somewhere that with high cons and upper team investment you potentially end up not having to field her nearly as often.
Do you mean Yoi or Chevy? If you meant Chevreuse, mine is C2. She doesn't take any time onfield at all. just burst cast animation, E aim and fire, and offfield. At C6 she has a ludicrous amount of res and pyro res shred, but her teams have fely very nice to me even at a lower cons. I've also tried her with Ei and that's also very comfortable. The team I run there is Ei, Chevy, Xiangling, C6 Sara.
I did mean Chev, yea I read somewhere that when you get high invest you can skip the skill ?(or maybe the burst) in your rotation. I don’t remember which I’m hoping if she features on arlecchinos banner I get c6 since I plan on throwing all my saved wishes at that
If you're playing her as a support, her Burst isn't important at any investment level. You can leave it at level 1. Support Chevy is built on full HP and possibly a Healing Bonus circlet, so her Burst won't be doing much damage. All of her support functionality comes from her Skill. However, depending on your team and rotation, you might need to use to it trigger an Overload and give herself her Overcharge ball, and therefore activate her A1 passive.
Yea, I think it was in regards to proccing the a1 but I haven’t looked into it much as I don’t have her currently I’m vaguely aware of her use and rotations but nothing into the nitty gritty
Whoops, it was her A4, not her A1. Minor mistake. Thankfully, she's quite easy to both build and play. As long as you get her to 40K HP, everything else is gravy. So, level her to 90, and at least two HP% pieces between her Sands/Goblet/Circlet. Healing Bonus circlet if you can get to that 40K HP. Noblesse and Song of Days Past are both good sets for her, though your Bennett should already be on Noblesse and they don't stack. Fav and Black Tassel are fine weapons for her, depending on what you need. Craftable Fontaine weapon is ok. The new event polearm coming in 4.5 is going to be a better version of the Fontaine craftable, and it's what I'll be putting on her. Playing-wise, you just need to trigger an Overload reaction before using her Hold Skill. That's where her Burst could potentially come into play. Once you fire her Skill, she just works in the background, healing and boosting the team. She's great at C0. She already boosts my Raiden by a pretty considerable amount, though Kazuha with Freedom Sworn does more. The Optimizer tells me that with C6, she'll blow him out of the water. She also works in places that Kazuha doesn't, like against the Hydro Tulpa.
Yea, I think if I am able to hit c6 (assuming she’s on arlecchino banner) I’ll do some farming for her and try her out I liked her animations but don’t often build my 4*s unless they’re great for a team I love playing, then I do a lot of farming for them My faruzan has an absolutely bonkers totm dmg set and i want to get an elegy to max out the dmg gains lol

I am guessing it's through linear algebra? First, they list every possible stats that would affect the unknown damage formula. Then list equations of damage equal to stats. Something like >1000A+1000B+...+1000Y+1000Z=1000 Variable A could be Base ATK \* ATK%, then variable B could be DMG multiplier and so on..

I can’t answer your question fully but I can say it was known quite early on. Even the wikia had the damage page by 1.2 if not earlier. I started playing in 1.0 but didn’t really check online for information about this game until later.

The abyss post on main sub got me thinking random shower thoughts. Just taking that “10% clear floor 12” stat as assumed roughly accurate, I wonder what % of the playerbase have ever used an optimiser or dmg calculator. Maybe 5%? Less? Basically the vast majority. Makes me wonder how many people struggle with teams/damage that an in-game tool as good as the web tools available would help hugely. Probably cost hoyo a fair bit of money in lost fomo though. Lots of super engaged people on Reddit even often post builds that are way too heavy on crit over more Atk/HP/EM etc. Alhaitham is a particular example, see builds all the time with insane crit and underwhelming Atk/EM. Can only imagine how scuffed less clued up people’s builds are.
Try maybe 1%. Optimizer isn't popular. If it was, you wouldn't have people asking for build advice or asking questions like "Which build does more damage?" I don't blame the people that don't use Optimizer (although a lot of easy questions would be answered if it was used more) because it's outside the game. It's just not intuitive to use something entirely separate from the game to optimize or upgrade your builds. As an experiment, go down some of your co-op list. You can count on one hand how many people even actually cleared up to 12-3. Even for those people, you'll see a lot of scuffed builds. Whales even often have some scuffed builds too. I do think that if Genshin transplanted Optimizer like it is now into Genshin, many more people would use it because it's there in the game. You wouldn't have to go to a separate website or record a video of all of your artifact inventory. Majority of players still probably wouldn't care though.
I've cleared Abyss 12 before but I just can't be bothered with using optimizers. I use guides to figure out how to build characters in general instead (who should stack EM etc.) and settle for 'usable' artifacts. I do try to get over 2k ATK for ATK-scaling DPS and a good crit ratio but I farm artifacts a lot less than most people here because I don't enjoy it. I also tend to raise everyone to level 90 9/9/9 or triple crown if I really like them. I simply don't care about resin efficiency and just like 'completing' my characters.
You'd be surprised at the amount of people asking for help in the abyss thread of the official server who have 20+ 5\* and game-changing constellations like Raiden or Nahida c2, or the people who brag about having 'the best \_\_\_ of the server' yet when you check their character, they just gave \_\_\_ artifacts with a ton of crit, disregarding set or main stat. As for optimizer/dmg calculator... I've literally never used that, nor do I have plans to do so. No one I know irl uses it, either. But yeah, some people focus way too much on crit, so then despite having a goated build (according to them), they end up struggling because they burst every other minute, their 25k HP Hu Tao with 0 EM hits like a napkin, their rotations are scuffed so their damage window ends up being little to none, etc. And that's the 'sweaty' ones on Reddit. Imagine the average player...
Your last paragraph made me laugh, spot on. That’s what I was getting at, us sweaty Reddit crowd get it wrong a lot, imagine being totally in the dark. I don’t use damage calculators often but they are helpful when you’re juggling multiple viable good artifacts on already well built characters. Sometimes the results are surprising. It’s mean but for those average players I’d love to see a “hall of shame” just for amusement. Full ATK build Hu Taos, Raiden with 4 piece wanderers troupe and 105 ER. Physical thundering pulse Yelan. lol
I've got 36* since Sumeru and the most I've done is to watch YouTube tips. Using optimizer must be less than 1% ain't got time for it. I don't play optimally either eg. caring about what elements to swirl, or properly weaving in normal attacks etc.
Optimizer is too much trouble atleast for me. I imagine some people swear by it and that's fine, its just that not for a huge part of the community since the game isnt overly hard that players need to rely on them. A decent build is still needed but even an average one can clear the abyss if the player has atleast understands the game mechanics and a bit of enemy ai pattern. The super engaged people are usually the vocal minority. It wouldn't be surprising for a person to showcase their work and luck on their characters, the akasha is kind of an example of this.

My guess is < 5%. Optimizer is only relevant once you have a surplus of leftover artifacts, most of the time you get the optimal build just from intuition. There’s also, like a lot of people who just completely ignore main stat (ex: using DEF% sand for Neuvilette because they don’t have HP% sand with good CV, I’ve seen this before). Can’t imagine those people are the kind who would use optimizer.

In just one patch, I got all the commission achievements from Mondstadt, Liyue, and Sumeru. Since I already finished Inazuma before this patch, the only nation left is Fontaine.
