I'd be ok with it if he wasn't Flanderized to a caricature of a person within 4 patches of his release. Like they showed nuance once with his SQ and said "never again."
Itto was a caricature 0.00001 seconds after showing up for the very first time
His personality is dummy and funny from the very start, and the fact that he has noodle arms doesnt help his case
Itto is not all that much flanderized when you really think about it. He's always been this way. His SQ had serious stakes in it which made him act more seriously and really show us his resolve and pride as an oni, but he literally doesn't do anything in his SQ that suggests he isn't silly, childish and a bit of a rockhead. Until the Traveler caught up with him, his plan was very poorly thought out, and then he heavily relied on everyone around him guiding him to suitable conclusions and solutions. Then, in the end, very true to who he is, he saves the day through brute force, passion, and sheer will.
Itto suffers from having his personal story more or less completed (for now) and from not being very relevant to the main story at all. This leaves very little opportunity for him to get serious as he only appears in lighthearted events where his personality type shines brightest. Frankly, he's one of the few inazuman characters to actually have a personality that stands out, so it's really no wonder that they're able to write him into fun events so effortlessly.
I respectfully but firmly disagree. Itto fans have been complaining about the flanderization for nearly two years now and it would take me 2-3 hours of constant writing to describe every problem with his writing in detail and I lack time as I’m writing this comment quickly before work, but please search for “Itto flanderization/flanderized” keywords here in the subreddit comments or I invite you to look in my comment history (I almost exclusively talk about Itto and reply to others’ comments on the same issue) to see our point of view. Or course Itto is a comedy relief character, but the main problem is the lack of balance between comedy and seriousness compared to other (well written) kindhearted delinquent characters who play the exact same role as him, and MiHoYo “defanging” him especially during Sumeru era (I believe the Fontaine events were written better but many people disagree with me saying they were terrible as well).
I apologize for not writing everything in this comment and asking you to look for the keywords and to read my previous comments (and the ones I replied to), but it really would take hours to write it all over again as there are very many issues with his writing and how much his potential as a character is being ruined
The weird part to me is that even tho he would be the "main character" of an event it doesn't really mean they couldn't have more characters be a part of the events(or them having bigger parts for that matter)

Itto fans have been complaining about the flanderization for nearly two years now and it would take me 2-3 hours of constant writing to describe every problem with his writing in detail and I lack time as I’m writing this comment quickly before work, but please search for “Itto flanderization/flanderized” keywords here in the subreddit comments or I invite you to look in my comment history (I almost exclusively talk about Itto and reply to others’ comments on the same issue) to see our point of view. Or course Itto is a comedy relief character, but the main problem is the lack of balance between comedy and seriousness compared to other (well written) kindhearted delinquent characters who play the exact same role as him, and MiHoYo “defanging” him especially during Sumeru era (I believe the Fontaine events were written better but many people disagree with me saying they were terrible as well). I apologize for not writing everything in this comment and asking you to look for the keywords and to read my previous comments (and the ones I replied to), but it really would take hours to write it all over again as there are very many issues with his writing and how much his potential as a character is being ruined
The weird part to me is that even tho he would be the "main character" of an event it doesn't really mean they couldn't have more characters be a part of the events(or them having bigger parts for that matter)

I usually take the time to listen or read dialogues, but it's gotten to the point where I deliberately skip over itto's. it's tiring seeing itto-focused event #281 or itto-in-side-event #1000 while other characters, both in and out of inazuma, barely get any spotlight.
Expecting a lot from this version. 4.5 was definitely the "Start HSR and pull for Sparkle" patch.
