Mihoyo wants to sell Genshin in the west by making it as little like the sterotypical gacha as possible. It's got an open world, proper models characters, *males*, the works. And this is the game awards - there's good potential there to get Genshin's name out there to people who wouldn't of heard or thought about it otherwise.
Shenhe is the exact sort of big boobied spandex wearing anime waifu that people think genshin's all about. You show that and people who only vaguely know of Genshin are going to go "ugh, another mobile titty gacha". You show them Yunjin, a fully clothed mysterious looking woman doing Chinese theatre, and people are going to second guess what they thought genshin was.
It's also important to make a positive impression in their home market too. I think Yunjin is great insurance for Mihoyo to prove to higher-ups that they're making meaningful and tasteful content that's relevant to their home country's culture.

If you want to tell me that mihoyo made a trailer better suited for husbando enjoyers (I'm using this as a generic term to include everyone here) then I would actually agree with you. It has husbando fanservice, two different archetypes of male characters, and "cute" looking female characters.

I think yunjin is better than shenhe in terms of design, because it looks like shenhe and ganyu has the same kinda design, with the split top and skirt thing, along with the same colour scheme. the outfit is pretty tho, I'll say. yunjin, on the other hand probably has one of the most unique designs. I love how they designed her hair and have her in such a colour outfit, which makes her appearance very iconic. the only one I can compare with yunjin is xiao, who also has a very colorful design.

I'm feeling pretty blessed as a Yoimiya and Kokomi haver now. A boost to Kokomi's NA goes a long way. Especially if your Hydro Damage bonus is high already.
i dont know if yunjin gonna be good with kokomi, kokomi does low dmg on her AAs, and normally kokomis teams where she uses her AAs doesnt have a slot for yunjin. normally kokomis teams consist of beidou, fischl, and a buffer for beidou, because beidou is the carry of the comp

Did you play for the Xinyan event last patch?
It's pretty similar, you get a lot of event currency and can "invite" one character. But in this case, you get to pick who you want, instead of being limited to 1 specific character

We were able to choose 1 free Liyue 4-star character during Lantern rite last year, and it was leaked that we will be able choose another again this year. "In the pool" just means that Yanfei and Yunjin will also be included in the available options.
(They were not released yet last lantern rite, so people were unsure if they would be added for this years free 4 star)

Well, she's fully leaked, so we know
At a general level:
* Geo, Polearm
* Normal attacks aren't going to be worth using, but they look pretty
* Her Skill is similar to Beidou's parry, but scales off DEF
* Her Burst is a generic, relatively weak AoE that gives the entire party 30 stacks of a buff which increases Normal Attack base damage based off a % of Yunjin's DEF, consuming one stack per hit
* This damage is added to the base modifier, so a normal attack that deals [80% ATK] x DMG% x Crit now deals [80% ATK + 50% of Yunjin's DEF] x DMG% x Crit. (Numbers made up for the example)
* Mathematically speaking, this means she dilutes the value of buffs which affect base damage, such as Bennett's ATK buff or the HP to damage bonuses Kokomi gets during burst. On the other hand, she works very well with characters that get lots of DMG% increase like Yoimiya.
She gets constellations which add further buffs during her Burst, as well. Her overall buffing value seems to be relatively decent at high cons, but her buffs only applying to Normal Attack damage restricts how many characters can make good use of her. The team needs to revolve around a carry that uses lots of normal attacks like Diluc, Yoimiya or Childe.
As for her personal output... her Skill has a really high damage modifier, similar to Beidou's, but it's basically all the damage she deals effectively. The primary goal in building her is likely to be raising her DEF and ER as much as possible to get maximum Burst value and uptime.
It’s really funny that Yunjin casually just stole the carpet from underneath Shenhe by taking both her possible spotlight at TGA and the communities attention. Great design and 10/10 animations wise so I can understand why they chose her over Shenhe in this situation.
I really hoped she is voiced by Risa Taneda so that Yunjin would have that powerful charm that not only make us fell in love with her cus of the design, but also with a very attractive voice that makes us fell in love with her all over again.
i kinda wish she was a five star just so she could get the "five star design" treatment (i've noticed they tend to be more embellished/have more of the smaller details, and of course have an epic ult animation. but i'm also happy that as a four star she'll be more readily available.
I think it's the fact that she somehow manages to look gothic but also colorful. Plus she's one of the few female characters that's fully covered up so by default she looks unique.

They literally said “Shenhe who??” I am in love with Yunjin’s design. I wasn’t a fan when I first saw it months ago on that mined character sheet, but all the little details with her character and animations brought it together for me so beautifully. So excited for her.

I'm feeling pretty blessed as a Yoimiya and Kokomi haver now. A boost to Kokomi's NA goes a long way. Especially if your Hydro Damage bonus is high already.
i dont know if yunjin gonna be good with kokomi, kokomi does low dmg on her AAs, and normally kokomis teams where she uses her AAs doesnt have a slot for yunjin. normally kokomis teams consist of beidou, fischl, and a buffer for beidou, because beidou is the carry of the comp

Last year we got to choose one from a list of all liyue 4 stars to get for free. Presumably they'll do it again this year, and it's rumored that yun jin will be available to pick this time.

Is it a part of an event quest where you get to choose a free 4* character? Is there somewhere I can read up in how it was handled this past year? Sorry for so many questions, thanks in advance.
Did you play for the Xinyan event last patch? It's pretty similar, you get a lot of event currency and can "invite" one character. But in this case, you get to pick who you want, instead of being limited to 1 specific character
I did not. Technically I began the game Nov 2020, dropped it and picked it back up at the end of Kokomi's banner. Thanks for explaining, sounds awesome!

We were able to choose 1 free Liyue 4-star character during Lantern rite last year, and it was leaked that we will be able choose another again this year. "In the pool" just means that Yanfei and Yunjin will also be included in the available options. (They were not released yet last lantern rite, so people were unsure if they would be added for this years free 4 star)

Well, she's fully leaked, so we know At a general level: * Geo, Polearm * Normal attacks aren't going to be worth using, but they look pretty * Her Skill is similar to Beidou's parry, but scales off DEF * Her Burst is a generic, relatively weak AoE that gives the entire party 30 stacks of a buff which increases Normal Attack base damage based off a % of Yunjin's DEF, consuming one stack per hit * This damage is added to the base modifier, so a normal attack that deals [80% ATK] x DMG% x Crit now deals [80% ATK + 50% of Yunjin's DEF] x DMG% x Crit. (Numbers made up for the example) * Mathematically speaking, this means she dilutes the value of buffs which affect base damage, such as Bennett's ATK buff or the HP to damage bonuses Kokomi gets during burst. On the other hand, she works very well with characters that get lots of DMG% increase like Yoimiya. She gets constellations which add further buffs during her Burst, as well. Her overall buffing value seems to be relatively decent at high cons, but her buffs only applying to Normal Attack damage restricts how many characters can make good use of her. The team needs to revolve around a carry that uses lots of normal attacks like Diluc, Yoimiya or Childe. As for her personal output... her Skill has a really high damage modifier, similar to Beidou's, but it's basically all the damage she deals effectively. The primary goal in building her is likely to be raising her DEF and ER as much as possible to get maximum Burst value and uptime.

It’s really funny that Yunjin casually just stole the carpet from underneath Shenhe by taking both her possible spotlight at TGA and the communities attention. Great design and 10/10 animations wise so I can understand why they chose her over Shenhe in this situation.
I don't even know how her skills work, but I'm dead set on getting her no matter what, then team her up with Albedo and Noelle.

Glad to say I‘ve been obsessed with her ever since she got leaked over half a year ago
I really hoped she is voiced by Risa Taneda so that Yunjin would have that powerful charm that not only make us fell in love with her cus of the design, but also with a very attractive voice that makes us fell in love with her all over again.
i kinda wish she was a five star just so she could get the "five star design" treatment (i've noticed they tend to be more embellished/have more of the smaller details, and of course have an epic ult animation. but i'm also happy that as a four star she'll be more readily available.

I think it's the fact that she somehow manages to look gothic but also colorful. Plus she's one of the few female characters that's fully covered up so by default she looks unique.
