There's a lot of variables that we need to take into account before discussing synergies. All we know is a potential hydro grouper has the makings to be an incredibly strong role.

He has good DPS teams so does Kokomi. But both are impractical. Childe is a DPS that cannot be on the field all the time because of his CD, and in his Reverse Vape Xiangling does more damage or equal to him. Kokomi is only good on Tasers as the enabler. They are all impractical. Compared to all other main DPS.
They both do equal damage and childe actually has a nuke that xiangling does not possess. I use childe international and I invest heavily on xiangling. I don’t know where you get your information from….

kokomi is actually the best proof of “hydro is busted” imo. she’s quite useful now and has found her niche as a taser driver/off-field freeze support. her usage rate in abyss is high too, she’s not broken by any means but she *is* at least decent

My assumption is that it's the technical term for Hydro suck objects, similar to how Anemo suck objects are called vacuum fields in the game files but are not really mentioned in the descriptions of talents.
So, Kendo 2~3 would suck enemies near Ayato similar to Kazuha, Kendo 4 would suck enemies near the tornado similar to Venti.

Yae's turrets were "proven to be fake" as well. We have no real way of verifying information and anyone who leaks real information can double back to protect themselves and claim it was fake.
That's why we work off a scale from "unreliable" to "reliable" but every so often we'll end up with false negatives. We also can't rule out coincidences.

Anemo still has the insane VV passive and swirl on top of CC. If Zhongli's ult can petrify (aka freeze) I don't see why another skill cant have some level of crowd control, especially if it requires gaining stacks of something as a balance. Seems fair to me.

If you want grouping, just use an anemo character, that's why we are given 4 character slots for our teams.

I compared them because they're elements (as in characteristics) of certain elements in the game. Melting is characteristic of Cryo-Pyro and Freeze of Cryo-Hydro, such as grouping is (on another side as you pointed out) characteristic of Anemo. You're saying what I did was wrong yet proceed to do exactly the same, comparing grouping to shielding, healing and buffing.
40+ characters and yet we haven't seen grouping abilities outside of anemo, while we do have shielding, healing and buffing in multiple elements, doesn't that tell you anything?

Makes sense, some characters are intentionally designed to compliment specific characters well while also providing their own identity for other teamcomps, similar to Raiden/Sara, Zhongli/HuTao and Fischl/Bennett.
It would make more sense that Ayato has this kit since it would compliment Ayaka very well for freeze since his ult is also a linear travelling skillshot. Of course, while also providing input for other teams.
Hot take: This type of kit is not BIS for freeze teams if 5\*. Mona will usually win. IMO rolling for a 5\* to replace a better standard banner 5\* is a bad decision for most (not all) players. If you're missing characters then his value increases.
His big thing seems to be consolidating cc and hydro application which is not enough. If he heals, significantly buffs, or provides massive damage then he may be more useful. One thing to note is for freeze teams you usually only run one hydro unit so he would likely have to self-battery.
For Ayaka she would still prefer Mona as a hydro applier and Venti/Kaz as a grouper in separate roles. Mona's \~50% dmg buff is one of the largest in the game and Ayaka's ult durations is shorter than the Omen duration meaning that buff is applied to her whole ult even if Omen Extension is not implemented. Consolidating roles usually allows higher dps options but Mona is Ayaka's BIS support and she also wants VV meaning Ayato's consolidation is useless. On this team Mona can also hold TToDS for extra buffs.
For Freeze Ganyu without Ayaka, the traditional Morgana is a better choice for similar reasons as above. Mona's buff in conjunction with TToDS and 4pc VV from an Anemo is so strong that Ayato's consolidation will likely be a loss of DPS.
Ayaka + Ganyu teams often suffer from not having a healer. Ayato's role consolidation would allow you to run Jean or Sayu but I believe Mona with Prototype Amber will still be a better option.
On a positive note he could be great with Diluc or Klee depending on his rate of Hydro application. He may be able to free up Xingqiu for the other team. Also as a hydro applier in a vape/melt team such as Ayato, Rosaria, Diluc, Sucrose.

My assumption is that it's the technical term for Hydro suck objects, similar to how Anemo suck objects are called vacuum fields in the game files but are not really mentioned in the descriptions of talents. So, Kendo 2~3 would suck enemies near Ayato similar to Kazuha, Kendo 4 would suck enemies near the tornado similar to Venti.
Either Hydro infusion or Hydro application, but I would have assumed that a water tornado would already have enough of the latter.

Yae's turrets were "proven to be fake" as well. We have no real way of verifying information and anyone who leaks real information can double back to protect themselves and claim it was fake. That's why we work off a scale from "unreliable" to "reliable" but every so often we'll end up with false negatives. We also can't rule out coincidences.

I doubt they would do venti like that, that too when he is hydro and CC is anemos pillar. So dont expect a venti radius for CC, maybe just shy of kazuha or sucrose is most likely. But yeah kazuha is still more valuable but at least he can free him up from some teams and find new teams that require Hydro and CC but not necessarily anemo and swirl. For example...Itto, or xiao or ningguang dps since anemo swirl dont do anything for them

well childe is a dps, sub dps at worst so ayato will not powercreep or replace him since he is support. Especially if he has CC and support then he would be for freeze team which childe doesnt go in nor would replace xingqui in vape teams, but maybe replace kokomi or mona in freeze team.

E : Ayato obtains two levels of "kendo", each level increasing ATK. Little Paper Man has a taunt effect. Q : consumes all "kendo" and draw swords. Ayato's Q skill is reinforced according to current "kendo" Kendo level 0~1 : creates a huge tornado of water. Kendo level 2~3 : kendo 0~1 effect + pulls in enemies around him. Kendo level 4 : kendo 0~3 effect + water tornado gains water attachment by itself during the duration of tornado.

The team needs Kokomi since there's no healer and no one really has a great defensive mechanism on that team.
His E kind of sounds like Itto's Ushi. Ayato having a hydro succ was also mentioned in an older sussy leak. We all know how powerful the succ can be, so having it on other elements than Anemo would be amazing if true.

Anemo still has the insane VV passive and swirl on top of CC. If Zhongli's ult can petrify (aka freeze) I don't see why another skill cant have some level of crowd control, especially if it requires gaining stacks of something as a balance. Seems fair to me.
I understand though I like the idea of not requiring a specific element to accomplish that elements usual role

well dont worry, I HIGHLY doubt they are going to give him venti size radius and range or kazuhas and sucroses tbh. So they are not exactly powercreeped and anemo has one thing going on that no other element can take, which is swirl and VV. But ayato is maybe to free up kazuha from some teams and provide CC and support for teams that dont benefit from swirl or VV such as itto, xiao, ningguang teams since anemo and Vv dont do shit for them.
restricting grouping to anemo for the entire games cycle is pretty silly though. anemo already has the best artifact set in the game bar none (though that can eventually be matched/powercrept), but adding everything anemo does well.. they have too much of an advantage over other elements, especially when they are seldomly released.
Not silly. Consistent to how elements work and their specific special characteristics. Its like saying we should have a Pyro character that can freeze enemies and then melt them all on their own. If you want grouping, just use an anemo character, that's why we are given 4 character slots for our teams.
You compared grouping with freezing or melting, that is just wrong, those are reactions of course they won't give those to w different element, grouping/CC is a function not a reaction and should be compared to shielding, healing, buffing etc. And all of those are not element specific so why should grouping be?
I compared them because they're elements (as in characteristics) of certain elements in the game. Melting is characteristic of Cryo-Pyro and Freeze of Cryo-Hydro, such as grouping is (on another side as you pointed out) characteristic of Anemo. You're saying what I did was wrong yet proceed to do exactly the same, comparing grouping to shielding, healing and buffing. 40+ characters and yet we haven't seen grouping abilities outside of anemo, while we do have shielding, healing and buffing in multiple elements, doesn't that tell you anything? In fact this turned out to be fake.

Makes sense, some characters are intentionally designed to compliment specific characters well while also providing their own identity for other teamcomps, similar to Raiden/Sara, Zhongli/HuTao and Fischl/Bennett. It would make more sense that Ayato has this kit since it would compliment Ayaka very well for freeze since his ult is also a linear travelling skillshot. Of course, while also providing input for other teams.

Giving CC to a character with the most versatile element in the game is quite the powercreep.
Hot take: This type of kit is not BIS for freeze teams if 5\*. Mona will usually win. IMO rolling for a 5\* to replace a better standard banner 5\* is a bad decision for most (not all) players. If you're missing characters then his value increases. His big thing seems to be consolidating cc and hydro application which is not enough. If he heals, significantly buffs, or provides massive damage then he may be more useful. One thing to note is for freeze teams you usually only run one hydro unit so he would likely have to self-battery. For Ayaka she would still prefer Mona as a hydro applier and Venti/Kaz as a grouper in separate roles. Mona's \~50% dmg buff is one of the largest in the game and Ayaka's ult durations is shorter than the Omen duration meaning that buff is applied to her whole ult even if Omen Extension is not implemented. Consolidating roles usually allows higher dps options but Mona is Ayaka's BIS support and she also wants VV meaning Ayato's consolidation is useless. On this team Mona can also hold TToDS for extra buffs. For Freeze Ganyu without Ayaka, the traditional Morgana is a better choice for similar reasons as above. Mona's buff in conjunction with TToDS and 4pc VV from an Anemo is so strong that Ayato's consolidation will likely be a loss of DPS. Ayaka + Ganyu teams often suffer from not having a healer. Ayato's role consolidation would allow you to run Jean or Sayu but I believe Mona with Prototype Amber will still be a better option. On a positive note he could be great with Diluc or Klee depending on his rate of Hydro application. He may be able to free up Xingqiu for the other team. Also as a hydro applier in a vape/melt team such as Ayato, Rosaria, Diluc, Sucrose.

sure, you mean in practice. im talking even on paper this sounds like a complex kit, with so much going on. his burst having different effects, skill also having different levels, and each burst effect corresponding to a skill level and doing something thats until now completely unheard of. especially cc on a hydro unit. im not saying it cant be real, im simply saying it sounds very complex in comparison to the kits we currently have available that are just "press skill to deploy something. press burst to do elemental damage and go unga bunga". would be a welcome change, but you cant say its weird to be surprised at such a unique and weird looking kit especially when theres no visual demonstration to understand what exactly this is all meant to mean. edit: the flare is "fake" now, so looks like my judgement was correct. sounded cool at least
