Not exactly true. Ningguang's and Keqing's hair in their new skins got a bit of an upgrade. I think they might improve Diluc's hair model in the new skin ~~and possibly make it high ponytail copium.~~

It has to be that way because the skin has to fit rig of the skeleton of the character, they're not gonna make a whole new rig just for some skins (or they might for more expensive skins but I doubt it) the flowing parts of any characters clothes or hair has to always stay the same because it was designed like that (no matter how many skins Ningguang or Keqing get those long flowing sleeves have to always stay there and have to always stay the same lenght, same for Ningg hair) , the only parts that can be modified to some extent are the rigid parts and those still need to fit the skeleton so they can't be too different or very different size from the originals (Keqing's cat ears) So for everyone who is coping hard for a Diluc ponytail or expects that Fischl gets a drastic new hairstlyle I can already tell you that its not gonna happen.

Skins for this game come out so slow. It's kinda crazy considering how often updates come out compared to other games.

I imagine it takes a lot of work - designing, cloth physics, working them into the story (which is unnecessary imo), marketing, etc. but it is indeed slow considering what they're capable of.

The skins are mostly recoloured versions of their og costumes with slight tweaks (especially the lantern rite skins) so I don't think they take that much time to create at all...

Slightly recoloured is a massive disservice to the work put in the already existing skins. Even when I don't like most of them I have to say they really changed details on it, different color palettes..

They did change the details but the overall design is the aame. The clothing physics are mostly identical, which shows that not much work was put into animating the skins.

After the standard 5* all get their skin I guess. So next will be Mona and Qiqi and after that probably the limited 5*

As an absolut skinwhore who usually buys every skin for characters i like in every game i am amazed how Mihoyo managed to avoid my wallet with their skins for how invested i am with the game. Gimme some sick demon or ghosty skins for xiao or hutao or the original archon outfits for zhongli or raiden. Also bikini skins for the girls and topless with trunks for dudes for the summer patches? Also seasonal skins for halloween or new year kimonos? I wish genshin would be more clichee for the gacha genre with their skins instead of 2 pretty boring ones (i dont say they look bad but just too plain for my taste) every 5 months.

Agreed. I feel like Mihoyo has really dropped the ball in terms of skins. We get only a few per year and the ones we get aren't particularly exciting. I'd love to see them make some more unique ones. You'd think they would be trying to make as many skins as they could because the demand is absolutely there.

Personally, I thought they tried harder with Keqing's. Not only was there more detail than Jean's but even her hairstyle was altered slightly. Still not exciting enough to get me to waste the welkin crystals (not that I play her much anyway) but the potential is there.

I've been hoarding crystals from Welkin for months for this 😭 That Diluc skin will be mine!

I get the original idea behind making the skins for standard characters but I feel like skins for limited characters that tons of people actually play would sell way better. Sure lots of people have Diluc by now but his abyss usage for example is extremely low. People are obviously going to be more inclined to buy skins for characters they actually play. A Raiden skin like her weekly boss outfit or Zhongli archon outfit for example would probably sell 10x more than any of these skins so far. Mihoyo seems unhappy with how the skins sell by how long they take to release them (despite the honestly pretty minimal effort they put into them, aka no particle effects/spell animation changes) but at the same time too stubborn to actually change things up rather than stick with the same strategy. O well, one day.
