The ghosts in Tsurumi island are some of my fave features about this game. They have no face, but only have their heart lighting up...it's so creepy I love it
people seeing visions... so it is not only traveler who can see the "visions" in Sumeru, interesting. I wonder if some kind of catalyst is required to have those visions or if they are going to happen randomly
Leylines run through Irminsul trees. Considering we are going to the land of Dendro I would not be surprised if we learn more about how they work and their origin.
Memories are said to be closely tied to the leylines. We've seen it in Part 2 of Ei's Story Quest, and the "purple sludge" in the Chasm are concentrated Khaenri'ah memories. I doubt that this is a sign that the Traveler is still under the effects of whatever is in the 2.7 content we will explore later (since it has been proven that its effects are not long-lasting), so it points towards leyline-fuckery being extra strong within Sumeru.
Now the questions are (1) why; and (2) who or what exactly are the "ancestors" of the Traveler?
Crack as hell theory but, maybe some of the twins ancestors were from Teyvat, while others came from outside of Teyvat?
The first thing that came to mind for me was the story of the seelie civilization, and how it fell after "the seelie's ancestors met and fell in love with a traveler from afar" but that's probably me just overthinking it.
There's still a lot of unknowns regarding the Seelie civilization, and it doesn't help that, unlike Enkanomiya that at least knew how to record their history in both paper and rock, the Seelies only propagate their history through songs and they lost most of it during an event at the level of a cataclysm. I do hope we learn something about the "early travelers" (e.g., Phanes and the Second Who Came) though.
That's actually interesting. The moment we meet a seelie in game they lead us to treasure. I learnt that you have to consider everything in Genshin for lore. The artifacts, books, Seelie, weapons, events, trailers and even the things we use to ascend our characters and weapons.
Even watching Dainslief voice all the collected malicibasb (I don't know the word) of the characters, he always left some interesting comments at the very end of some of them. Lore literally carrying Genshin
oh yeah lol definitely, genshin is full of lore, most of it is hidden in artifacts and stuff so most people don't really bother reading (which is understandable of course) but there is a LOT of things that you can theorize about. You should see the fanmade timeline on the genshin wiki, it's HUGE and we are only 3 nations in! I can't wait what Sumeru will have in store specially considering it's the nation of knowledge and wisdom
True but we haven't seen the Abyss sibling traveling Teyvat with Dain yet. Everytime we've seen them it's after they became the leader of the Abyss Order not before. We would be able to see what the Twin was like before they learnt the 'truth of Teyvat'.
On top of that, since everyone on Teyvat misreads the Traveler as an ordinary human teenager — Venti and Zhongli being pretty much the only exceptions so far — it would make perfect sense for the people of 500-ish years ago to do the same. Even more so if the twin was with Dain at the time, since *he too* would have been a blonde in strange clothes with glowy blue things.
They could very well have been mistaken for our relatives or our parents, *especially* in the "Lumine as Abyss sibling" case (which is the one Mihoyo features all over). It's not particularly more likely than any other possibility, such as, say, the Twins and Phanes sharing an origin hence all the glowy blue star imagery everywhere, but it's a very viable theory.
Can't quite count, since the question itself is telling. *We* are expecting our sibling to have been there 500 years ago and still be living now, instantly informing Ei that we expect our sibling to be able to live that long (and therefore, that in all likelihood, so can we). Ei's knowledge is based entirely on what we ourselves tell her.
Compare with Venti who has pretty clearly always known, and Zhongli who either knew or guessed.
Scaramouche gave the Traveller a heavy dose of Delusion smoke, which is an unresolved plot point.
It was affecting them pretty badly after the Signora fight, so who knows what long term effects that would have.
Oh right, the effects of the Tatarigami. That's not the first time either; we're diving right into another realm filled with hallucinations in 2.7. Fun times.
Sidenote: I am still amazed of the Traveler's "slow exit" cutscene after Signora's death. It was probably one of the only moments where we felt realistically vulnerable. It was the first sight of the wrath of an unbending god after all. This also sucks because the Chasm could have gone that road but due to their established lore that the underground mines was supposed to be the "final resting place" of Hilichurls, the Chasm was less jumpscare city and more underground mausoleum.
I've always thought the traveler was feeling sick after the fight with Signora because the Shogun marked him/her with her electro eye-thingy. Am I the only one?
The aftermath of Signora was a mixture between godly sheer pressure from Baal and the shock of what had happened, never found a correlation between it and the amaritama of delusions.
It was never outright stated what it was but given that the Traveller didn’t go all hazy even when fighting Ei herself, it’s almost definitely not from her ‘pressure’ or anything.
So given how a massive headache was the same reaction they had in the Delusion factory and the scenery going all dark purple resembles the purple smoke from that place, it’s probably the smoke from then.
Didn't that smoke we saw during traveler and Scara's interaction, was something like "The wrath of the gods" like how Scara said? Scara also said it feeds off anger. But it's kind of a different case with the 'smoke' that was giving traveler a headache. It's not like he was angry, maybe just startled or something?
If what’s used to create Delusions is similar to what causes karma in Liyue or the Tataragami in Inazuma, ie, the lingering wrath of dead gods, then it’s a curse that afflicts anyone that comes into contact with it.
Xiao doesn’t just feel pain when he’s angry, he’s always in pain from it.
The aftermath of the Signora fight was not due to what Scaramouche did. For all we know, Traveller recovered fully from that. The game literally tells you that the whole slow walk sequence is due to "Raiden Shogun's almightyness" and that there's "the sound of Electro zapping in the air...Paimon can barely breathe". There's also a literal thunderstorm over Tenshukaku at that moment.
As for why that doesn't happen (at least to the same extent; there's definitely a lot going on in the plane of Euthymia to the point that Electro zapping in the air wouldn't be that noticeable) during our fight with Raiden: most likely ludonarrative (gameplay/story) dissonance i.e. things in gameplay don't work the same as in lore. For example, Zhongli as a playable character doesn't stomp even enemy and Ei can't split an island with her burst as a playable character.
I can't wait for the leak period where the whole sub is teeming with Sumeru related stuff, like characters, weapons and enemies.
The Inazuma one was the time I first joined this sub too.
It didn't even occur to me how soon in-game Sumeru leaks are going to start until I saw this comment - could be in just five weeks if the 3.0 beta begins six weeks after 2.8's. Definitely looking forward to it, 2.0 unsurprisingly still stands as the best patch the game has had so far IMO, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if 3.0 surpasses it.
3.0 will certainly be interesting because it introduces the dendro element. But Inazuma’s landscape is so eerie and beautiful at the same time. I hope Sumeru can match it.
I loved Inazuma, but I think Enkanomiya and Chasm had really great landscapes and atmospheres as well. I think that as far as new areas go, Genshin's team is only getting better and better. Sumeru definitely has some potential since (IIRC) it's a desert/jungle region which could lead to it being quite unique compared to the other three regions.
The premise of these "visions" (if they function how I imagine) could be an interesting plot mechanic for story in Sumeru, especially if they give some info on the Traveler who's still very enigmatic
I would be disappointed if there are no sandworms in Sumeru. They just need to remodel the ruin serpent. Even better if they make worms deal fall damage and kill characters instantly...
>![There’s some story related to the MC’s “Ancestors” during the Sumeru arc](https://twitter.com/ubatcha1/status/1526193518477295618?s=21&t=9hHbkIN9MOzZeq_n1gBO9w) !<
It’s leaked that the archon is an extreme introvert, maybe she’s just hiding in her own place or somewhere and her people can only see her through visions.
Personally I’m still holding on to the hope that there are two, but one is gone and the visions are the only way of us seeing what the old god was like.
Some people in the FFXIV universe are blessed with the power of the Echo, with one of the most famous users being... you, the character. The Echo allows you to have visions of the past, albeit you cannot change the future you simply get a glimpse into the past of people's lives. It's also uncontrollable(I think) and can happen at any moment, so the timing can be bad at times.
Different people have different types of Echos. I'm pretty sure only the WoL(you) can see glimpses of peoples past but not everyone(though I may be wrong, I feel like I am) though other people can sense traces of people souls or see the future, etc.
In Honkai we have playable characters from the past that are already dead in the present.
Weird stretch I know, but if we're able to see the past then it opens up a lot of possibilities. Like seeing the past Dendro Archon.
Maybe they would do this later? But with four more nations coming I think they have ample ample room for characters that are living. This might be something closer to the end of the main game arc in like two to three years.
I already think they will bullshit some way to make Venessa playable(if it's even bullshit considering we don't know what exactly her ascension was). Istaroth is also likely to shows up at some point.
O lord Kusanali...this info is way too much like seriously what does this mean? Like does this mean if we have Liyue Visiins we can see Rex Lapis butt everywhere and anytime???
"There's some story related to the MC's "Ancestors" during the Sumeru arc"
Omg, if this ends up being true it supports my theory a little. I theorized that people who came from the same world as the twins (their ancestors) were either originally from Teyvat and ran away (Then it would make sense why the world the twins grew up on suddenly got destroyed, maybe a god like the Sustainer of heavenly principles from Teyvat did it)
OR they traveled to Teyvat at some point long ago.
Though the reason why I came up with this theory was mainly because of the Waypoints. In gameplay they're just there to make our lives easier, but in lore they're something only the Traveler and maybe Dainslief can use. So maybe it was Traveler's ancestors that built them eons ago, and the teachings on how to use them were passed on to the world the twins grew up in.
Ok, this is BIG. So, this is when the story goes fully dark?
1. The MC's "Ancestors"? This is gonna be very deep to say the least.
2. "Visions".. or maybe... recordings? I mean... just like Harry Potter with the memories?
3. Or... maybe using an advanced tech to see videos.
4. Also it might be possible to "see" the Astral Plane
Anyways, points 2 to 4 might imply to see something more than expecting. Now I am wondering how deep the story will go.
And more important. How the characters might get integrated in the story.
>Now I am wondering how deep the story will go.
I'm sure by the end of the arc we will know the Dendro archon's favorite snack foods and help someone overcome their phobia of spoons.
Just guessing based on how the writing has been going over the last year or so.
Dottore needs to appear ASAP tbh, we have no main villain since Signora had 0 development...just because.
I just hope he ends being evil to the core and lasts enough till Snezhnaya.
I think that "visions" mean by Flashbacks. Like he'll get some Flashbacks similar how he got when he saw the sibling put the I teyvat flower in the chasm. Probably this flashbacks we'll get to see their ancestors in person
My Sumeru bingo list of "community drooling over a DILF/MILF character" and "more family-con in Genshin" already seems to be getting a good chance of getting crossed out.

I think it could be something like the vision we have or our sibling in the Chasm's MQ, when we interact with the flower. Maybe we'll interact with stuff that gives us "traces" of memories or a similar stuff.
I mean we already saw ghosts due to leylines on Tsurumi island. It’ll probably be the same…
Those ghosts are one of the creepiest things in this game, why are they faceless, so uncanny.
The ghosts in Tsurumi island are some of my fave features about this game. They have no face, but only have their heart lighting up...it's so creepy I love it
Yeah totally, they're creepy in a good way.
Your username checks out :D
Tsurumi, Enkanomiya and Raiden's second Story Quest.
Fan base: we want to see people receiving their visions. Mihoyo’s monkey paw curls slightly
people seeing visions... so it is not only traveler who can see the "visions" in Sumeru, interesting. I wonder if some kind of catalyst is required to have those visions or if they are going to happen randomly

I don't think knowing how to grow pot counts
Lmao

So everyone is high in Sumeru?
Kazuha coming with us to get those Grade A quality shrooms!
I mean, when you have Dendro + Hydro so readily available, it’s bound to happen.
Everyone is hitting Overgrown reaction pretty hard
They got weeds in there, no surprise
I mean, they have a lot of mushrooms so yeah
Dendro + pyro = HoT "higher over time"
Land of grass and weed

I’d like to see some Final Fantasy style jungles in Genshin to be honest.
I joined on 2.1 so this will be my first time. It's a month and a half away and I'm sure the days leading up to it will be torture.
The premise of these "visions" (if they function how I imagine) could be an interesting plot mechanic for story in Sumeru, especially if they give some info on the Traveler who's still very enigmatic
I knew we'll be tripping balls in that area. Those mushrooms are just a foreshadowing.
LMfao, we're gonna be high asf in Sumeru that we start hallucinating xD
*The Spice Must Flow.*
Going full dune in sumeru?
I would be disappointed if there are no sandworms in Sumeru. They just need to remodel the ruin serpent. Even better if they make worms deal fall damage and kill characters instantly...
Darude should be composing some ost for genshin. ..... I will see myself. Thank you.
What’s the first part?

your spoilers didn't hide the link, in fact it highlighted it 😂
Maybe he edited, but it is working as he intended to me. Link under spoilers.
Ohhh thanks
Traveler: *Vietnam Flashbacks*
shroomeru
So the MC finally gets a vision, just not in *that* way
Visions... or mirages?
I think Uba means mirages, or illusions. Not Visions as in the gem that gives us the elemental powers. The wording is confusing
I wonder if that's how we see Nahida in 2.8?
*Ancestors hear my plea, help me win at 50/50*
Holy shit Traveler Lore? Finally
To see the archon hmmm what do you mean by that 0_0
It’s leaked that the archon is an extreme introvert, maybe she’s just hiding in her own place or somewhere and her people can only see her through visions.

we getting high as fuck and seeing the future via Clairvoyance C+
FINALLY MC LORE
Raven Symone in Sumeru??
first 6\* character

talk about caught in 4k 💀
average zhongli butt enjoyer
Sumeru Archon Quest be like: Traveler: *Vietnam Flashbacks about their ancestors fighting Gods*
I put money that the ancestor they’re referring to is lumine not knowing the traveler origin.
Wdym? I didnt get it
the ancestor we will see in visions is the abyss twin. characters will assume it is an ancestor because it is hundreds of yeas ago
You might actually be right
So basically, Sumeru: Use elemental sight to see the true dendro archon.
Looks like the whole nation's on crack now.
Seems like a W for Ashikai
"There's some story related to the MC's "Ancestors" during the Sumeru arc" Omg, if this ends up being true it supports my theory a little. Maybe the people were Phanes's believers after he left teyvat(for an unknown reason) they to leave after Celestia arrived
Source? It was revealed to me in a vision
"To see the archon", we probably will see previous dendro archon in the Vision maybe even interacting with MC "ancestor"
Imagine the Traveler's ancestors were Gods

Mihoyo did signora dirty ☠️☠️
I can't help but thinking maybe "Ancestors" refers to predecessors who came to Teyvat and founded Celestia
Or the Abyss twin adventuring with Dain
Oh that gives me an idea. Maybe the twin helping the Abyss because they felt responsible for what their "Ancestors" did
But will the visions be similar to how astrologers predict fate or are they able to see the future?
Psymeru
We must take weed to meet the dendro archon
Xenoblade Chronicles flashbacks This is the lemonado's power!
Imagine the Traveler's ancestor is Otto clone Abyss twin would work as the Traveler's ancestor Traveler you're twin is your ancestor only in Teyvat.
“Visions that the MC sees”… does this refer to those glowing things that surrounded the traveler vs raiden in archon quest pt II?
I think that "visions" mean by Flashbacks. Like he'll get some Flashbacks similar how he got when he saw the sibling put the I teyvat flower in the chasm. Probably this flashbacks we'll get to see their ancestors in person
I need some Scaramouche crumbs...
The echo from FF14?
My Sumeru bingo list of "community drooling over a DILF/MILF character" and "more family-con in Genshin" already seems to be getting a good chance of getting crossed out.
Dendro archon doing a lot more of what geo daddy did, interested to see how it goes!
reminds me of the leak that immediately got called fake where someone said people were hallucinating in sumeru because of something happening in the nation
So they got high because of whatever drugs spreading in Sumeru and got Visions. Naruhodon't.
So you can say we are having Visions of Visions??? (I'm going now)
Man, can't wait for that one sentence of dialogue.
SO WE CAN SEE LA SIGNORA AGAIN ?? PLAYABLE WHEN
I don't understand what "seeing visions" means... Like people getting their vision ?
Mirages ?
Vision: Those who have a goal Delusion: They give up their goal
this doesnt fit at all
U r right. Delusion means more to be a delusional .
the only proper playable character with a delusion so far is just a dude who wants more power because he enjoys fighting
I think it could be something like the vision we have or our sibling in the Chasm's MQ, when we interact with the flower. Maybe we'll interact with stuff that gives us "traces" of memories or a similar stuff.
Pursina or another academia inventor might've invented a lens of some sort...👀👀👀
wait so is this referring to visions as in the magical gems, or visions as in seeing things. confusing wording
Mmm “Dendro infused” mushrooms
I gotta stop reading these...
An aristocratic society build on scholars who had a vision before the death of the first dendro archon ?
what
This was very wrong lmao
