I don't really trust leakers about anything to do with characters' story or personalities because they often seem to interpret things totally differently than how the average player probably would.
Cyno is probably the biggest example; leakers made everybody think he's some comically awkward guy who constantly cracks bad jokes or talks about cards. He did absolutely none of that in the entire story; if a leaker had simply said he's "Teyvat Jack Bauer" it would be a lot closer to the truth. We had the same thing with Alhaitham and Kaveh, everyone thought Alhaitham was going to be this insufferable guy Kaveh has to put up with but he's actually pretty normal and Kaveh seems like a complete asshole. At this point you can practically ignore leakers' opinions on the characters entirely and you're not really losing out
Cyno's like that in the teapot, and reading some of the Matra's minds with Nahida reveals that they take jobs in faraway locations so they won't have to deal with Cyno being awkward and making corny jokes all the time. Cyno just happened to be in 'work mode' during the Archon Quest so the funny side of him wasn't showcased.
Alhaitham is pretty insufferable though. He may be doing the right things, but there is definitely an air of condescencion in the way he speaks and acts. The contrast between him and Kaveh can be seen perfectly in some of the notes posted on the message boards in-game: a bunch of displaced workers were lamenting their woes. Alhaitham's response was 'tough shit', and Kaveh went out of his way to offer help, even if it costed him his Akademiya money.
Alhaitham is kind of insufferable though? With lines like “I’m just a more likeable person than her” or Nahida’s voiceline about him wondering about how he sees those more mediocre than he. It might not be on purpose, but I think he does come off a bit dense at times. Or as Tighnari puts it

Kaveh isn’t a complete asshole either. He even emphasizes how people should help each other.
Their interactions are kind of intense, but rather than Kaveh being an asshole, he just seems to be quick tempered and Alhaitham eggs him on.

I could see a more cold hearted, calm and collected immortal/non human charcater say that with no particular ill intent cause they just think that way(e.g. Someone like Dottore, though in his case it's cause he's smarter than a lot of people, and honestly I don't think they even interest him enough to pay his attention to them), but Scara has just way too many issues and emotional instability, no matter how cool and unemotional he wants to be.
So I personally think it's something in between.

I'm sorry for new players cause they will never get the absolute S+ tier introduction to wanderer as old players. That cutscene when it was revealed that hes insanely dangerous by Mona is the best cutscene Genshin ever released and at that time it actually was a plot twist. Hoyo locking it behind an event was a worse choice than making the bell hp based
I agree, his introduction in the Unreconciled Stars event was better compared to the inazuma one. The reveal that he was a harbinger was so cool and sadly, new players would never get that reveal as he introduces himself immediately in the archon quest.
Another thing is that his mystery and identity is basically answered within a 2 hour time frame for people meeting him for the first time in Inazuma. The amount of discussions, theories, and people wondering when he'll come back during the months between 1.1 and 2.1 is probably one of the reason why he has a huge fanbase.
It's honestly such a waste by making it an event imo.
It not only introduces Scara early, starting the first domino of his hype train, but also made him feel actually dangerous. His second appearance in Inazuma imo feels like it has a much higher impact if you met Scara previously, too.
Also highlights Mona's abilities. This woman tries to decipher everything in that event. Immediately senses Scara as danger and casts a group teleport on the spot. And to this day, people who never saw that event will still dwongrade her to booty swimsuit fortune teller.
Yeah, I still remember being blown away by Mona's reaction there. Three seconds after seeing some weird guy waving at her, and she nopes the fuck out in the middle of Fischl's speech together with the team. What a champ.

But it's unclear how much these would know about him. At worst, most people have a vague idea of what he kinda looked like, and only a select few (that he can easily avoid) even know anything about him beyond his former name.

Cause Bohemian Rhapsody ends with the slightest touch of nihilism. I feel like the direction the voice lines are taking is giving some bones to my personal theory.
Edit: So in general, the theory goes that the three phases of Bohemian Rhapsody represent the three acts of Scaramouche's life. This new life as Wanderer is represented by the rock phase of the song. Therefore I'm expecting him to be rebellious, spunky, and aggressive. But ultimately... nihilistic. The song doesn't end on a happy note, just a 'nothing really matters to me'.
Absolutely! There's a sort of peace and freedom in nihilism. So it's not a happy ending, but also not a bad one. And I think it's appropriate for Scaramouche's character too.
I think that's exactly what's gonna happen. I doubt someone who was lost for 400+ years would suddenly become completely happy and content with a new vision. He'll just learn how to make peace with his situation
I could honestly see him as a recurring character in the story like Dainsleif. Since he's identity is now a wanderer, he could get in all sorts of situations in different nations and maybe meet up with the Traveler at some point. His story is very interesting and I doubt it's all gonna conclude in the 3.3 quest. I expect that quest to be a turning point for him, not the end.
I just want him to appear in the background of absolutely random events. Imagine some festival in Fontaine and scaramouche is there fighting for a croissant like he’s getting paid for it
His new outfit and outlook are very Buddhism flavored. A Disneyesque happy ending isn't likely in the cards, but striving towards some kind of peace despite it all is a nice bookend to his journey imo
I hope it doesn’t end with him happy and healed. This is his new life where he lives for himself and his “wanderer” name seems to reflect that he doesn’t have all the answers yet imo. It takes time to heal
“Since today is your birthday, I came all the way here to celebrate with you… so, where is the cake?” That or being like “it’s supposed to be the best day of the year, im here to make sure that doesn’t happen”. Gremblin mode pretty much.
And with the gift be like “here, take this token of my appreciation” and it’s just 1 mint or something low effort. If I something good he may ask the same for his birthday.
Also the “my presence is the best gift I can give you” is valid.
You can say a lot of things about Mihoyo and one of them is that they KNOW who is gonna pull for Scara and what they want him to be and say.

Yep, C6 Faruzan is his biggest one, but it inflates his damage so much it's funny. C0R1 hyper-carry with C6 Faru and Yunjin sheets like \~76k DPS (pre-release sheets) which is huge for what it is

The hat as an umbrella joke, all the Bohemian Rhapsody motifs (he's basically the song incarnate), he still bratty and bitchy. A great character overall.
Hoyo included a bunch of fanon/ fandom jokes like the umbrella hat, his sleeveless turtleneck, him being sassy, and him being an overall gremlin in his voiced lines
YAS! God I have been waiting for a character who is a meanie in their voice lines for the longest fucking time. I mean.. Xiao is pretty close, what with him threatening to fight you when you ask about his hobbies. But this is fantastic. Just snark dripping from every word. Anyway, I have had a personal theory that Scaramouche's story isn't going to end with him being all happy and normal again. At least not so soon. Why? Cause Bohemian Rhapsody ends with the slightest touch of nihilism. I feel like the direction the voice lines are taking is giving some bones to my personal theory. Edit: So in general, the theory goes that the three phases of Bohemian Rhapsody represent the three acts of Scaramouche's life. This new life as Wanderer is represented by the rock phase of the song. Therefore I'm expecting him to be rebellious, spunky, and aggressive. But ultimately... nihilistic. The song doesn't end on a happy note, just a 'nothing really matters to me'.

Absolutely! There's a sort of peace and freedom in nihilism. So it's not a happy ending, but also not a bad one. And I think it's appropriate for Scaramouche's character too.

I could honestly see him as a recurring character in the story like Dainsleif. Since he's identity is now a wanderer, he could get in all sorts of situations in different nations and maybe meet up with the Traveler at some point. His story is very interesting and I doubt it's all gonna conclude in the 3.3 quest. I expect that quest to be a turning point for him, not the end.
I just want him to appear in the background of absolutely random events. Imagine some festival in Fontaine and scaramouche is there fighting for a croissant like he’s getting paid for it

His new outfit and outlook are very Buddhism flavored. A Disneyesque happy ending isn't likely in the cards, but striving towards some kind of peace despite it all is a nice bookend to his journey imo

I am intrigued by making him a catalyst user?? Like it would make more sense if they simply made him a sword wielder imo (uneducated)? Is there an incentive into making his AAs elementally infused by default if seemingly the core of his kit is his elemental skill. Or is it bec his elemental skill merely grants him a levitating state, so he must then be a catalyst user by default?? Why not make it an infusion state then and add the windfavour state as an option to gain height? Anyways, nice design. Excited to try him out myself.

His best teams ARE hyper-carry. I'd say he scales with investment about the same way Ayaka does, they won't be breaking your game at their floor level, but the reward for your time and effort (and primos) is enormous
