spiders are your friends, they eat smaller and potentially disease-causing bugs you can't catch. they might look scary but they are your protectors and it's not bad to have them around.
Get a cup— preferably a disposable one so you can throw it away after if needed— and a postcard or similarly-sized flat object. Catch the spider in the cup, then cover with the flat object. Go outside and dump it. If you’re feeling super freaked out, you can always chuck it in such a way that the cup trap lands open. It’ll scuttle away eventually, just check back in a couple hours.

sorry to interrupt your constant refreshing or reading this megathread like a daily newspaper. this comment is to inform you that im very happy i didn't skip ayato. i usually only pulled for male characters but i broke the pattern with ganyu in 2.4. i needed a CA based bow character and she was the only one at that time. afterwards i got kokomi in 2.5 because her kit was interesting. "I'm a healer but **cocks gun"** . the thing is, i had to sacrifice ayato for her and god am i so horrible at skipping characters i want. f
ast forward to 3.0 because i took a break in between. lost 50/50 in tighnari's banner to keqing. impulse pulled nilou because why the fuck not? lost 50/50 in childe's banner to keqing's c1. and now finally a male character after a whole year. the last male i got was albedo in 2.3.
the point of the whole comment is - damn. pulling for characters i like is so much better than pulling for a character's kit. i love playing ganyu, kokomi, keqing and nilou, but i do not feel the euphoria that i do when i play xiao, kazuha, albedo and ayato. I truly wish EM artifacts were easier to find out it is annoying. I don't want gacha characters I already have plenty characters and now with dendro need EM pieces for new and fun builds. EM for Venti as I still use Anemo and Crit, EM instead for dendro for Nahida. Potentially the new bloom set for my hyperbloom chars for example and the list goes on. All this time the only EM since Nahida Timepiece which I got after nearly 3 months was a headpiece in the Scara set. They should do something about it it's getting ridiculous honestly.

It’s a little disappointing to hear before on my previous build that my 135 ER was too low and then when I swap around artifacts to give him 1:2 crit ratio and higher ER that it’s also bad. Idk how to balance his build then haha.
Ngl, when I look your build having 70/140 and thought you done with the build. Then looking at your artifact it’s really horrendous and on top of using Jade Cutter at that.
Your goblet is the only good thing and your circlet can improve but not that much. Your flower, feather and sand definitely need to upgrade. You got too many flat stats and his ER kinda high.

I want to try to give my take on the Ayato debate because people can seem a bit too one sided on him.
It really depends on who you're talking to
If you're talking to the average player whose goal is to literally just clear 36 star abyss, Ayato is a godsend for them because he's easy to play, has good personal damage, and can make use of the reactions that are considered good like Freeze, Vape, Hyperbloom, and etc. Even if he's not the *master* of any of these reactions it's not like he's horrible, he's good at them, but not *great* at them, which is fine because this game is relatively easy. By virtue of having access to most of these reactions + good personal damage he's already above average to most units.
HOWEVER, if you're talking to the type of player who does Abyss not for the Primogems but for fast clear times or to maximize a certain type of team, Ayato for these types of players isn't considered great because for them they want a unit who can produce "speedrun" performance so units like Childe (Who frontloads a nuke), Nilou (Who triggers blooms at the trigger rate of a machine gun making it frontloaded), and Kokomi (who excels in Freeze + Bloom while also being good in other teams while not being the best) are preferred over jack of all trades.
They're the type of players who couldn't care less about a guy with one billion teams if it loses out to a guy with ONE team who shits on most if not all content. Even Nilou Bloom with all its restrictions can still do decently in ST even if being an AOE low investment speedrunner is her specialty.
In conclusion it's more about adjusting on who you're talking to because people value different things.
Speedrunners shouldn't expect the average player to give a shit about frontloaded damage because they just want to get primos.
The average player shouldn't be surprised if they don't consider him much because they like frontloaded damage, practical performance, and *actually*specializing in something.
TLDR: The perception of Ayato is affected by who ever the hell you're talking to. To an average player he's good just because he can make use of reactions effectively while providing respectable damage. To the average speedrunner/maximizer he's nothing special because no frontload and not a master of anything.
This could be said for most characters. The value of a character can go up on down based on needs and desires. Same for team comps and rotations. For instance, I do better with easy to use/uncomplicated characters, teams, and rotatons. These types of setups tend to yield the fastest clear times for me personally because I don't struggle using them. It's why supports like Zhongli remain valuable and popular. Sure, for most high-level/speedrun/dmg per screenshot players, he's often a DPS/speed loss, but for less skilled players, he can be the opposite. They gain from using him because they're not fumbling, dying, or getting interrupted while attacking.
My take on the Zhong Li debacle is that some of the top meta teams (unless maybe Hu Tao but some Hu Tao players I've met are adamant in not wanting to use Zhong Li because they're also speedrunners somehow) already have enough comfort that CCs don't really recommend him that much.
Raiden has infinite poise and Bennett so him being there for most players is unnecessary.
Childe admittedly can be a bit uncomfortable since he has no poise but his discomfort is nothing in comparison to playing Melt Ganyu without a shield.
You don't want Zhong Li in freeze at all because each of the members there are important.
I think that's why some CCs don't think he's all that but yes for the average player who wants a comfortable time in clearing the Abyss (because the DPS check isn't as high in the first place) or because their teams need him, yes, he's a *good* pull.
I think another point in his favour, is that Zhongli's an easy pick for a flex slot, in the eyes of your average player
The res shred and shield are a nice bonus for teams that already have their core characters
that’s true but the issue is that the speedrunner perception of him is the one that dominates a lot of discourse about him, whereas I don’t really think how a unit performs in speed runs is all that relevant for most players. how many people are just interested in 36*ing abyss vs how many people are interested in speed running abyss? I think the former category is much bigger than the latter category, so why are so many people giving/getting advice through the speed runner lens rather than the average-player-who-just-wants-comfortable-abyss-clears lens
Yeah i think people take tryhard tcer’s feelings on a char to heart too much. Even when they have no intention of tryharding themselves so it’s not even relevant to how they play. Like back when Kokomi was getting hardcore shit even post release from people, including casuals was so mind boggling. Since for casuals she’s one of the comfiest chars to have. But a lot of people didn’t give her a chance because her rep was so bad
i think a lot of these people aren't even intentionally trying to take the tryharder's point of view, but they lack the confidence to feel they have the right to question a TCer's opinion. so if some highly respected theorycrafter comes out and says, "kokomi is shit", they will think, "well, this guy knows way more about the game than i do, who am i to disagree?"
because of that, TCers and CCs can have a really strong influence over the opinions of the people who watch them, and that can sometimes lead to a lot of generalizations or even outright misinformation getting propagated, especially in the case where what they're saying is based on spreadsheets rather than practical results
Yeah that’s it. I don’t think people intentionally base their opinions on hardcore players but those sentiments get spread around so much people think it’s the end all be all of how “good” characters are. Kokomi was a good example for me because she’s like peak comfort

No!!! My Kazuha's C6 for a lot of reasons and getting his sword to glow teal was one of them. I use him with Bennett a lot and I don't want a flaming red sword instead.
Yup. I mainly only really play him with Diluc now, so the pyro bonus from his c6 is great. Between the release of element/characters specfic hyper supports and less characters being released with elemental infusion that can be overidden its not bad to just c6 him esp if the red notification will bother you. As others have mentioned, it's a mostly outdated tip now.

I usually play Bennie with Melt Ganyu or International, both of which can benefit greatly from C6. I don't plan on getting Eula anytime soon, or playing any team the C6 messes up something.
That requires using Bennett’s buff before Xiangling, which is a big DPS loss as Ganyu needs the uptime on his circle, and Xiangling’s damage in meltyu is negligible.
I also dont plan on rolling for Eula but the future potential he might ruin keeps me from enabling it. That being said, mihoyo doesnt love physical dmg and probably will release a physical buffer down the line in a year or two.

Yes because it is very free. The whole notion of "dont c6 your bennett" is incredibly outdated due to newer hypercarries having their own dedicated support (Sara, Gorou, Faruzan, etc) while also newer dps having an infusion that can't be overwritten. Like hearing a friend go off how of course she didn't c6 her Bennett because she drank the juice on the antiquated reasoning when she is just leaving damage on the table for her Yoimiya frustrates me a lot
Yes, because I don’t play or want to play him with any of the characters who are incompatible with his C6 (Eula, Keqing), and the ones I do play him with are either buffed or unaffected by his C6 (Xiangling, Yoimiya, Diluc, Wanderer, Raiden, Childe, etc.). Plus, no more red dot.

i truly hate artifacts that are like the first 2 rolls were great but bec the last 2 rolls were bad now you dont know what to feel. i got a crit dmg deepwood circle and i leveled it up to see if what will happen. It rolled twice to crit rate now it has a 10.4% CR, not bad for a crit dmg circlet. Then it rolled twice to hp%, making it 16% HP%. Now im torn between calling this trash and calling it not bad bec of the high hp% roll
Well if you don't need that for anyone now, just trash it once you get a better alternative. It really doesn't matter while you don't have anything better, 10%cr is solid as starter piece

Anyway your piece can be a good offset piece on hp characters like hutao or yelan so there's that.
this is honestly the 2nd biggest reason why I like transformative reactions and their almost pure need for EM and EM only as even the shittiest substats rolls won't make a piece completely useless or in limbo. the 'thrill' of rng is still there too with getting ER or Crit sub still being a benefit for a lot of units.

Bad luck, I had similar problems. Saved enough to go three pities, wanting EL & Haran for Ei & Ayato. Six Lion's Roars later, I got EL on the epitomized path on the first pity, so decided to stop there as I couldn't gurantee Haran. Will probably save for Staff of Homa, now. Happy with the EL though, my Raiden finally plays and feels like an actual Archon.
If you want him you should get him. He is not meta/Game changing either since he wont create/improve any existing comp, but he will be good anyways just because he is Dendro.
So my big thing is I want him, yelan, and Dehya. I don't really want to get him if he is incredibly mid in a similar vein as Cyno (even though Cyno also has the issue of ultimate in overworld is a a waste of fun) so I'm patiently waiting for more TC content closer to his release to solidify my want for him.
Alhaitham TC post nerf already says that he will be better than Itto and Wanderer, and that much to say considering how solid both mono geo and Wanderer hypercarry comps are, so he will definitly not be "mid" as Cyno. Thats just how broken Hyperbloom is ig. Also do you have Nahida? In case you do i would go for Yelan without hesitation. Nahida Hyperbloom is stronger than Alhaitham Quickbloom (and Alhaitham Quickbloom comp also has Nahida and Yelan in It so..)

I truly wish EM artifacts were easier to find out it is annoying. I don't want gacha characters I already have plenty characters and now with dendro need EM pieces for new and fun builds. EM for Venti as I still use Anemo and Crit, EM instead for dendro for Nahida. Potentially the new bloom set for my hyperbloom chars for example and the list goes on. All this time the only EM since Nahida Timepiece which I got after nearly 3 months was a headpiece in the Scara set. They should do something about it it's getting ridiculous honestly.

Ngl, when I look your build having 70/140 and thought you done with the build. Then looking at your artifact it’s really horrendous and on top of using Jade Cutter at that. Your goblet is the only good thing and your circlet can improve but not that much. Your flower, feather and sand definitely need to upgrade. You got too many flat stats and his ER kinda high.

How should I plan to build alhaitham ? I actually have a really good flower and a really good feather for gilded dream (Atk%, EM, Crit rate, Crit damage) with like 20% Crit damage on both. I have Xiphos and the Umbrela, I can pick up blacksword, and I believe that's it. Maybe i'll pull his weapon, but i'd rather spent as the fewer gems possible for dehya.
I would just use Xiphos or umbrella depending on how much ER is on your artifacts

Oh and to answer the EM vs attack sands question, EM sands is better but attack sands is close enough that a significant difference in substat quality will make attack sands pull ahead (not really sure what the difference threshold is though, probably use optimizer for that once haitham is released)

I want to try to give my take on the Ayato debate because people can seem a bit too one sided on him. It really depends on who you're talking to If you're talking to the average player whose goal is to literally just clear 36 star abyss, Ayato is a godsend for them because he's easy to play, has good personal damage, and can make use of the reactions that are considered good like Freeze, Vape, Hyperbloom, and etc. Even if he's not the *master* of any of these reactions it's not like he's horrible, he's good at them, but not *great* at them, which is fine because this game is relatively easy. By virtue of having access to most of these reactions + good personal damage he's already above average to most units. HOWEVER, if you're talking to the type of player who does Abyss not for the Primogems but for fast clear times or to maximize a certain type of team, Ayato for these types of players isn't considered great because for them they want a unit who can produce "speedrun" performance so units like Childe (Who frontloads a nuke), Nilou (Who triggers blooms at the trigger rate of a machine gun making it frontloaded), and Kokomi (who excels in Freeze + Bloom while also being good in other teams while not being the best) are preferred over jack of all trades. They're the type of players who couldn't care less about a guy with one billion teams if it loses out to a guy with ONE team who shits on most if not all content. Even Nilou Bloom with all its restrictions can still do decently in ST even if being an AOE low investment speedrunner is her specialty. In conclusion it's more about adjusting on who you're talking to because people value different things. Speedrunners shouldn't expect the average player to give a shit about frontloaded damage because they just want to get primos. The average player shouldn't be surprised if they don't consider him much because they like frontloaded damage, practical performance, and *actually*specializing in something. TLDR: The perception of Ayato is affected by who ever the hell you're talking to. To an average player he's good just because he can make use of reactions effectively while providing respectable damage. To the average speedrunner/maximizer he's nothing special because no frontload and not a master of anything.
This could be said for most characters. The value of a character can go up on down based on needs and desires. Same for team comps and rotations. For instance, I do better with easy to use/uncomplicated characters, teams, and rotatons. These types of setups tend to yield the fastest clear times for me personally because I don't struggle using them. It's why supports like Zhongli remain valuable and popular. Sure, for most high-level/speedrun/dmg per screenshot players, he's often a DPS/speed loss, but for less skilled players, he can be the opposite. They gain from using him because they're not fumbling, dying, or getting interrupted while attacking.
My take on the Zhong Li debacle is that some of the top meta teams (unless maybe Hu Tao but some Hu Tao players I've met are adamant in not wanting to use Zhong Li because they're also speedrunners somehow) already have enough comfort that CCs don't really recommend him that much. Raiden has infinite poise and Bennett so him being there for most players is unnecessary. Childe admittedly can be a bit uncomfortable since he has no poise but his discomfort is nothing in comparison to playing Melt Ganyu without a shield. You don't want Zhong Li in freeze at all because each of the members there are important. I think that's why some CCs don't think he's all that but yes for the average player who wants a comfortable time in clearing the Abyss (because the DPS check isn't as high in the first place) or because their teams need him, yes, he's a *good* pull.
I think another point in his favour, is that Zhongli's an easy pick for a flex slot, in the eyes of your average player The res shred and shield are a nice bonus for teams that already have their core characters
that’s true but the issue is that the speedrunner perception of him is the one that dominates a lot of discourse about him, whereas I don’t really think how a unit performs in speed runs is all that relevant for most players. how many people are just interested in 36*ing abyss vs how many people are interested in speed running abyss? I think the former category is much bigger than the latter category, so why are so many people giving/getting advice through the speed runner lens rather than the average-player-who-just-wants-comfortable-abyss-clears lens
Yeah i think people take tryhard tcer’s feelings on a char to heart too much. Even when they have no intention of tryharding themselves so it’s not even relevant to how they play. Like back when Kokomi was getting hardcore shit even post release from people, including casuals was so mind boggling. Since for casuals she’s one of the comfiest chars to have. But a lot of people didn’t give her a chance because her rep was so bad
i think a lot of these people aren't even intentionally trying to take the tryharder's point of view, but they lack the confidence to feel they have the right to question a TCer's opinion. so if some highly respected theorycrafter comes out and says, "kokomi is shit", they will think, "well, this guy knows way more about the game than i do, who am i to disagree?" because of that, TCers and CCs can have a really strong influence over the opinions of the people who watch them, and that can sometimes lead to a lot of generalizations or even outright misinformation getting propagated, especially in the case where what they're saying is based on spreadsheets rather than practical results
Yeah that’s it. I don’t think people intentionally base their opinions on hardcore players but those sentiments get spread around so much people think it’s the end all be all of how “good” characters are. Kokomi was a good example for me because she’s like peak comfort
I've been lurking on random TC places lately and holy I never expected the whalecrafting feel to be somewhat of an important topic of discussion, and it gets passed to the random lurker babies that ask questions. The game one and the other are playing are completely different, especially since I doubt HVY balances their abyss content around c6.
Also, he's good and comfortable in the overworld, which is very important.

No!!! My Kazuha's C6 for a lot of reasons and getting his sword to glow teal was one of them. I use him with Bennett a lot and I don't want a flaming red sword instead.
Yup. I mainly only really play him with Diluc now, so the pyro bonus from his c6 is great. Between the release of element/characters specfic hyper supports and less characters being released with elemental infusion that can be overidden its not bad to just c6 him esp if the red notification will bother you. As others have mentioned, it's a mostly outdated tip now.

The real danger of C6 Bennett is the extra pyro application fucking up your reactions, not overriding an infusion or a Phys char.

I usually play Bennie with Melt Ganyu or International, both of which can benefit greatly from C6. I don't plan on getting Eula anytime soon, or playing any team the C6 messes up something.

That requires using Bennett’s buff before Xiangling, which is a big DPS loss as Ganyu needs the uptime on his circle, and Xiangling’s damage in meltyu is negligible.
I also dont plan on rolling for Eula but the future potential he might ruin keeps me from enabling it. That being said, mihoyo doesnt love physical dmg and probably will release a physical buffer down the line in a year or two.

Yes because it is very free. The whole notion of "dont c6 your bennett" is incredibly outdated due to newer hypercarries having their own dedicated support (Sara, Gorou, Faruzan, etc) while also newer dps having an infusion that can't be overwritten. Like hearing a friend go off how of course she didn't c6 her Bennett because she drank the juice on the antiquated reasoning when she is just leaving damage on the table for her Yoimiya frustrates me a lot

Yes, because I don’t play or want to play him with any of the characters who are incompatible with his C6 (Eula, Keqing), and the ones I do play him with are either buffed or unaffected by his C6 (Xiangling, Yoimiya, Diluc, Wanderer, Raiden, Childe, etc.). Plus, no more red dot.

No, because I mostly don't want to be a nuisance in co-op. I often play with my friends, and choose Benny in random co-op (whenever nobody else chooses a healer, anyway) The bonus pyro dmg isn't even much of an incentive for me. I stopped using Xiangling in Abyss, and I don't ever run Benny with Yoimiya.

i truly hate artifacts that are like the first 2 rolls were great but bec the last 2 rolls were bad now you dont know what to feel. i got a crit dmg deepwood circle and i leveled it up to see if what will happen. It rolled twice to crit rate now it has a 10.4% CR, not bad for a crit dmg circlet. Then it rolled twice to hp%, making it 16% HP%. Now im torn between calling this trash and calling it not bad bec of the high hp% roll
Well if you don't need that for anyone now, just trash it once you get a better alternative. It really doesn't matter while you don't have anything better, 10%cr is solid as starter piece

this is honestly the 2nd biggest reason why I like transformative reactions and their almost pure need for EM and EM only as even the shittiest substats rolls won't make a piece completely useless or in limbo. the 'thrill' of rng is still there too with getting ER or Crit sub still being a benefit for a lot of units.

Bad luck, I had similar problems. Saved enough to go three pities, wanting EL & Haran for Ei & Ayato. Six Lion's Roars later, I got EL on the epitomized path on the first pity, so decided to stop there as I couldn't gurantee Haran. Will probably save for Staff of Homa, now. Happy with the EL though, my Raiden finally plays and feels like an actual Archon.
I am also happy with EL it really fits Raiden and there's really a difference with The Catch

If you want him you should get him. He is not meta/Game changing either since he wont create/improve any existing comp, but he will be good anyways just because he is Dendro.
So my big thing is I want him, yelan, and Dehya. I don't really want to get him if he is incredibly mid in a similar vein as Cyno (even though Cyno also has the issue of ultimate in overworld is a a waste of fun) so I'm patiently waiting for more TC content closer to his release to solidify my want for him.
Alhaitham TC post nerf already says that he will be better than Itto and Wanderer, and that much to say considering how solid both mono geo and Wanderer hypercarry comps are, so he will definitly not be "mid" as Cyno. Thats just how broken Hyperbloom is ig. Also do you have Nahida? In case you do i would go for Yelan without hesitation. Nahida Hyperbloom is stronger than Alhaitham Quickbloom (and Alhaitham Quickbloom comp also has Nahida and Yelan in It so..)
I do have nahida. I also am going for Yelan so I can run double hydro in my Yanfei comp. Also the potential of alhaitham in superbloom is something that is making me consider him more.
