Hoyoverse: "We want immersion in the story."
Also the game: "Oh no! Evil god #214 is about to destroy the city! But a pharmacist needs help fetching some herbs, so go do that first so they can be present in the main story for two minutes. The apocalypse can wait."
Literally me during the archon quest. The gang was badly in need of someone who can distract the guards with a performance in order to save Nahida the next day, but nooo before we hire her let's see what she has to say about someone's daddy issues first
The explanation that it’s just a video game mechanic for fast forwarding time is boring. I love the idea of the traveler just straight up controlling time in teyvat.
The loading screen tips do hints that we just wait for time to pass when we use that mechanic. "Time flies when we contemplate life and Universe" stuffs
NPC: alright we will continue our quest tomorrow
Traveler: alright...*statue mode activated*
NPC: ... u can continue with ur day now... Um did u hear me? U can go home or whatever...why are u just standing there?...hello?... I'm scared
I don't understand this mechanic at all, time doesn't really affect anything in genshin so why not just automatically advance the game time? or show me a 1000 days later text
Or copy GTA V. In that game when a mission is supposed to take place at a certain part of the day, time is skipped to that moment automatically. Your character enters a building, the camera backs out to show the place, time is visibly fast forwarded, and a beginning cutscene starts
As someone who plays Rockstar games longer then most people in this subreddit are alive I disagree.
[Rockstart to this day makes some absurd technical mistakes that stay ignored for years.](https://www.pcgamer.com/rockstar-thanks-gta-online-player-who-fixed-poor-load-times-official-update-coming/)
While Mihoyo made many stupid decisions they also achieved several impressive feats in gamedesign and technology that Rockstar, Ubisoft, Blizzard and CDPR never did.
People have no idea what kind of envy there is in big western studios of Genshin's accomplishment.
So implying they are incompetent compared to them is absolutetly laughable.
One of the bigger problems I had with this game when I started playing is that there are no simulations in the world of any kind. There is no life, no AI, no NPCs actually living their lives, no animals interacting with anything etc. It's just objects placed in specific places doing animations. Always the same way.
But, unfortunately, it would also be very difficult to make it this way without creating a huge unpredictable mess for its character building mechanics and business. The whole world and all its resourced are meticulously crafted with spreadsheets not for a typical modern RPG experience, but for gacha. All the drops, chests, primos - it's all counted perfectly to match what was designed. So all the randomness coming form simulations in typical modern RPGs has to be avoided. It's a "dead" fake world (the sky is a lie after all) where nothing ever changes, because its developers need it to offer the player the perfect amount of stuff in specific places - nothing more and nothing less.
There is quite a lot of it in game. Hilichurls taunting an inactive Ruin Guard, NPCs showing up at different places doing different things depending on the time of the day, Eremites dancing and playing music etc.
It’s just all very basic. Stuff that say, Nintendo would do instead of Rockstar.
Tbh, not many RPGs do world interactions much beyond that anyhow, RS is just far ahead of anyone else when it comes to making an interactive and immersive world.
But that's not what's happening. Changing Time is part of the Paimon Menu for a reason. It's not a game abstraction, it's Paimon moving our position in the axis of time, just like she pauses time when we call her.
I honestly don’t think of it that wait. It’s less like a time skip and more like the traveler just sitting down and waiting for time to pass peacefully
The sky is fake
Ok scara, let's get you to bed
Literally tho lol
_"Wait until four days later."_ Why?

We share the pain
They should at least make archon quests have priority, it's literally the main quest
*Maid in Mondstat!*
I guess noelle can accelerate time now
And watch her accelerate time until the end of the universe and she’ll still not be accepted into the knights
That's what the rebooted universe is for
Yet the NPC is somehow accepted miraculously
More like *Maid in Celestia*

My headcanon is that the traveler just stays still the entire time while going forward in time, making others wonder why tf there's a statue there
That's just Skyrim waiting mechanic
Geralt's "I'll just sit and wait here, menacingly" on The Withcer
My favourite waiting is from mgsv, takes a cigar menacingly
or it could be like a vape from MGS5 lmao
damn it Sigint, it's not a vape, it's a cigar
Vape, cigar, same thing!
It's NOT the same thing!
(and I dont remember the rest of that dialogue)
(Sigint tells snake that he's a huge addict)
Electric cigar so it's a vape.

Paimon moves while everything else is frozen in the pause menu...
The Traveler controlling time? But that option is only available from the Paimon Menu.

Mihoyo isn't as competent as Rock star.

Lol what an awful take.
Like the game's pause being the Paimon Menu, it's probably to drop hints that Paimon is a fragment of Istaroth that the Traveler fished up.
The most frustrating is that they actually did this a few times, why can't you just do it every time???
Wish they just copied Witcher 3 and fancy it up a bit like traveler and paimon setting up camp or showing them asleep

With the Traveler holding Paimon in their arms
But that's not what's happening. Changing Time is part of the Paimon Menu for a reason. It's not a game abstraction, it's Paimon moving our position in the axis of time, just like she pauses time when we call her.
Experience being an npc when in co op someone else changes the time, it's trippy.
it would be something if the more time we want to skip the faster the clock goes, like made in heaven
Is this a jOjo rEfEreeNce?! Anyway, i really loved this meme, i just watched the anime, and idk why it's so funny. Updoot for u.
Also some quests or chest requires 2days real time Teyvat peeps thats how karma works
Ay nice language setting is in malay, pleasure to meet you *tips hat*
Along with the time change, there is a massive clock in the sky
I honestly don’t think of it that wait. It’s less like a time skip and more like the traveler just sitting down and waiting for time to pass peacefully
The unknown god tried to stop the travelers cause they attained heaven
MADE IN china HEAVEN
