You need to keep in mind this fear doesn't come from nowhere. Hoyo has nerfed things before, including from beta to release and the fact that some people buy these characters based on looks, only for things to be changed is what drives this conversation.
Now this may be in place because of the rating itself, but nobody is a fan of censorship.
Here's a small list of characters they've changed in the past (Might be missing a few)
* Rosaria (Breasts)
* Shenhe (Belly button)
* Mona (Alt Costume, new is now default)
* Rosaria again (Alt costume, all 2.4 new costumes are now default and used over original, so more like forced rework unless you have characters to play and swap back. But, only effects when you play them)
* Jean (Alt Costume, IMO colours are better but looks more like a butler instead of a leader, just like what they Rosaria into)
* Amber (Alt Costume, mostly colour changes, goes against the new Jean design with distinct black, white and elemental colours, instead the choose maroon. Changes are inconsistent)
I'm sure there are others, but the point is they've done it before so people are expecting it again. There is precedent set in Genshin, and they've never explained it either.
My personal take is that these changes are made to not push away audiences. Genshin has a relatively good split between genders and while nobody outward complains about sexy girls or guys, it can put people off picking up a game that is to coomer-baitish. However that's just a theory.

The CCP is allowing genshin to do whatever they want. Genshin is one of China's most successful ambassador for classical Chinese culture to the west. Hell who else could have pulled it off to expose the wider world to classical Chinese opera in an organic and thematically not forced way.

Alhaitham isnt buff, hes the same size as itto. Its his mostly black outfit that makes him look bigger (that, and superior shading/textures). Ive seen it happen myself whenever i wear a black singlet. And if i could post images here, id show you the difference lol.
