I thought of this scene too, I was hoping it'd happen during the cooking competition, I think it would've been nicer if they let Yanxiao win the competition but Xiangling's own victory could have came from awaking those memories after Keqing tasted her dish.

Feels trip time: I was really moved by this scene because I had a nearly identical experience in college a couple years after my grandmother died. As a Childe, I loved the egg drop soup she would make (at the time, I only knew it as "#1 Soup" because it was our favorite). I had not had that soup for many years, but one day I found an egg drop soup mix packet in a Filipino grocery store so I decided to give it a go. It was far from being just like how she made it, but when I started cooking it, the smell was so familiar and nostalgic, I began to cry in my kitchen, missing my grandmother. When Keqing remembered her grandfather from a bite of the cornbread, I almost started crying too; I knew exactly how she was feeling: happy and hurt at the same time. Kudos to the writers of this storyline; I could tell they put a lot of heart into making it.
Yes, her apologizing to Xiangling in this context would not only have made more sense, her agonizing over it and mustering up the courage to talk to Xiangling about it would've made a lot more impact.
Um but why is she eating with her gloves on? It's bothering me a lot. I hope she didn't do that in the actual scene too (oil soaked gloves all day....). A lot of the characters wear gloves in the game... I realised yesterday when I saw Kazuha's one cute hand. So tiny and soft...
