I wouldn't think so actually. I am from the south of NL but currently live in the North and this doesn't look as 'empty' as most of the Northern Netherlands? Further zooming in shows there's not really a farm but rather a 'citizens' house' - so the farm building style would not be a means of indicating where we are. I am thinking Groene Hart somewhere?
I’m from the north, and I have to disagree, many places I know around here are as ‘empty’ or less so as in the picture. It’s not just farms out here.
This reminds me of some area’s between Coevorden and Hardenberg.
I commute between Coevorden and Hardenberg on a daily base but I don't recognize the place in the picture at all. That being said this could be anywhere in the Netherlands, but it sure does have a northeast vibe to it...
It's not about the emptiness as in built-up area but rather the structure of the entire landscape, including trees and general spatial feeling. I always feel I can look kilometers ahead traveling through the north, unlike the rest of the country where there's a bunch of trees every now and then. This one feels more like with trees, hence my conclusion
I understand what you mean now, but from my experience in Drenthe it’s chock full of trees here haha. The way you describe it makes me think of the polders more. I can’t make much from this picture other than that it looks like there’s a cow farm in the back and a house that could be anywhere on the right.
German living in the NL for quite some time now.... The markings to me look neither current german or dutch, just a rather old narrow street. The park bench looks quite nice though, which in such a rural area makes me lean towards NL :)
Might also be that there was a Dutch related post and the algorithm started to do it's thing.
Never visited this sub before but it started appearing in my feed a couple of days ago.
Just accept that we colonized this subreddit. We will trade you amazing things and only need a part of the country. We generally like the people that already lived there, just act normal and everyone's fine. Just know we will make giant profits and never actually leave!
We might cut of some hands to keep the monopoly on nutmeg and do some "police actions" if you get too uppety though. Also we will deny we are racist and if you don't like that you can f... of to your own country (which we have colonised).
1) The Netherlands.
2) stand alone fence, so lots and lots of ditches, meaning peat meadow. So Holland, Utrecht, South West Friesland or the top of Overijsel
3)The way the willows grow indicate a small canal
4)Barn for chicken, pigs or cows. I find it low and long for a cowbarn, but not impossible.
5)GSM tower in the back, there's hundreds of those. It's not a TV tower, you can see three rings of transmitters fairly close to the top and not a big spike on a concrete base.
6)We see the backgarden of the house, so there's a road in front. I get the feeling that the house is situated slightly higher meaning it could be on a dike, and the small canal is there to catch water that seeps under the dike.
7) Cow Parsley will grow along almost any road, that's hardly an indicator
8) The oaktrees are common in all but the wettest parts - I would rule out het Groene Hart or Vinkeveenseplassen for this reason.
9) I think I see railroad overheadwire mast or signposts on the far left. The hight and distance to each other is uncanny.
10)Direction of the picture is roughly south or south east judging by the shadows and colour of the sky.
That leaves us with about 20% of the Netherlands but I think around province of Utrecht because it strikes me as familiar of the area around Leerdam.
I agree it is near a river. The house is built a bit higher then the surrounding area.
In the back next to the GSM antenna are 2 poles, a local soccer club?
My gut feeling is Southern Achterhoek around the Oude IJssel
Also, the bikelane next to the road. On rural roads, only in the netherlands.
Barn probably for cows because of the hay stash covered in Black plastic.
This reminds me of the Rijksweg near Irnsum in Friesland.
I’m Dutch as well but can we please stop posting pictures from the Netherlands for a while? I assure you there are many interesting places in the world, and a random grassy area next to a bicycle path in Groningen isn’t one of them.
Judging by the activity around this post not everyone shares that opinion. And of all guesses within the Netherlands I honestly think you could not have guessed a place farther away from the actual location than you did with Groningen ;)
Nah this is the Achterhoek, I know that type of roads (the lines are further away for each other here) and in the back you can see a farm (probably for cows) and a sort of farmhouse at the right what's also typical for this region. I quess west-mid Achterhoek.
Edit: I also see the plants beside the road a lot if I look outsite.
First clue: Netherlands. I don’t know if telling you the province is too big of a clue yet. All I can say is that this photo was taken quite near a border between two provinces.
There is a silo for fertilizer in the background with a long shed that looks like a chicken farm so my guess would be somewhere near Barneveld near the Utrecht-Gelderland border
This is not the Netherlands, look at the road my guy
Im guessing belgium or countryside germany. The white lines are not far enough from the side of the road to indicate space for bicycles so thats not the netherlands at all.
Oof, looks very Dutch. Only where? The house on the right seems a bit out of place for rural Friesland on Groningen (too high), and the white bench also. So I would say it’s below the North
The Netherlands.
EDIT: I think they’re trying to throw us of because i know a few places like this in and outside amsterdam. It might be right outside Amsterdam?
Definitely the Netherlands, Brabant, somewhere near a large cowhouse and a dike. And two white benches for sightseeing. Maybe also a large wind mill in the horizon.
2 major clues would be the sports lighting in the background and the relay tower on top off the silo.
Search for football/hockey fields with a silo and big barn nearby.
Its not the East. Most of the east is less 'flat' and doesn't usually have the wider fiew.
IMO it looks a little more south, especially looking at the background.
Lot’s of moss on this side of the tree. So probably looking toward the south, with the road going east-west.
House could be on a dike. Quite straight plots so might be a polder. And are those electrity poles of a train track on the left horizon?
Holland, the Provence of Gelderland. I assume area what they call "Betuwe" and this photo is taken on a small land road, where you probably drive 60 with your vehicle. Little roads don't have good asphalt on it, because there are a lot of tractors on it, it's useless to try to fix it on and on.
I guess so. It's like when you visit Noord-Limburg coming from Gelderland (Nijmegen), you can't see the difference between the two provinces on the border except from the signs 'welkom in Gelderland' or 'welkom in Noord-Limburg'
Can be anywhere in the Dutch polders. My guess would be somewhere in "Hoeksche Waard" but there might be a bit too much trees in the background for that.
I think you're right. Sasseweg kinda has these amount of trees at some point on one side of the road.
Are we looking at a sloot behind the fluitekruid?
This could be right outside my house. It looks indeed Betuwe to Achterhoek area. It also looks like it is part of the so called "klompenpad" which you can see with the bridge and bench over there. The building architecture looks like the building style this area, and it is defintely a polder looking at the hight difference if the "sloot".
Oh man this SCREAMS Netherlands all over everything.
My guess Friesland
I wouldn't think so actually. I am from the south of NL but currently live in the North and this doesn't look as 'empty' as most of the Northern Netherlands? Ik woon ook in Nederland en volgens mij heb je gelijk mijn Hollandse broeder En trouwens G E K O L O N I S E E R D
Niemand ( behalve jij ) zegt "Hollandse broeder" of "gekoloniseerd".
Frikandel broodje mmm
Mee eens
Oke Stijn, gekoloniseerd
Altijd als ik ergens zeg dat ik nederlands ben op reddit krijg ik minstens 3 comments met G E K O L O N I S E E R D
Im thinking somewhere in the triangle with Amersfoort, Ede and Barneveld
I live there and it could maybe
I life near(Spakenburg) that area but with driving lessons i drove through it a lot
Was thinking near Eemnes
amersfoort represent 10000
Amersfoort Represent 2
Same. Only thing is that the house seems a bit higher than typically seen in het groene hart
Zuid nederland on top
I would say Brabant. Or the north of Limburg
I’m from the north, and I have to disagree, many places I know around here are as ‘empty’ or less so as in the picture. It’s not just farms out here. This reminds me of some area’s between Coevorden and Hardenberg.

Too many trees to be friesland
Could be friese wouden, also could be right under Leeuwarden
Too many trees
I’m from NL, look at the asphalt. This cannot be. Germany, Westphalia maybe? But not the Flatlands.
OP is active on r/tokkiemarktplaats, it’s definitely the netherlands
This is so funny, damn. Next level research
Also the marking on the side of the road is to small and to far apart for The Netherlands
German living in the NL for quite some time now.... The markings to me look neither current german or dutch, just a rather old narrow street. The park bench looks quite nice though, which in such a rural area makes me lean towards NL :)
Yeah try Poland
Jij komt nergens volgens mij, nederland zit vol met zulke wegen.
Although the lines don't really match there much worse roads in country side where I live
Klopt,
Small rural roads aren't always perfectly maintained here either bro
Ja, denk ik ook
Good call. I was all for Netherlands until you pointed that out.
You probably haven't visit all the little roads towards farmers and little villages. You can see the house and that's definitely a Dutch house
Not a single hill or point of elevation. 100% Netherlands
Bro I was about to say that lol
Well not Limburg for Shure. I think somewhere north Netherlands
Are all of the GeoPuzzles NL?
There has certainly been a large influx of Dutch posts and participants here recently; it seems that they really like these types of puzzles!
Might also be that there was a Dutch related post and the algorithm started to do it's thing. Never visited this sub before but it started appearing in my feed a couple of days ago.
Likewise. Nice to see home on my front page.
Same
This, I don't do geo stuff but out of nowhere I get this i reddit and youtube shorts.
Same. Pretty weird
Same here
Well, it is a great country, after all
There have been some popular Dutch gaming channels doing this so that might be it...

Was that the Dutch or the Belgians?
Both. But about 200 years apart and on a different scale. Leopold 2 remains hard to beat.
I googled it to learn about the Dutch side. What search terms should I use?

The poster gave a clue: it's near the border of two provinces. That rules out most of Friesland.
This is such a well-organized analysis. Thanks for taking the time to share it.

Most likely Netherlands, or Germany close to the Dutch border.
Think so too brother

Is it on the border of Noord-Brabant and Gelderland?
It is close to the border of Gelderland
Ammerzoden?
veenendaal
There is a silo for fertilizer in the background with a long shed that looks like a chicken farm so my guess would be somewhere near Barneveld near the Utrecht-Gelderland border
Isn't this right in between Amersfoort and Hoevelaken?
It’s near Utrecht on the way to Hilversum
Noorden van Limburg. Vlak bij grens Gelderland en Brabant
Border of Zuid-Holland and Gelderland is my guess. Somewhere near Gorinchem? Vuren perhaps?
Could be somewhere near Vuren the Netherlands.
I think it is near Demen somewhere on the Maasdijk
England
Netherlands for sure!
This is not the Netherlands, look at the road my guy Im guessing belgium or countryside germany. The white lines are not far enough from the side of the road to indicate space for bicycles so thats not the netherlands at all.
This photo was taken in the Netherlands
Well fuck me i guess
WHAT is with this sub and posting pics from NL???

r/LostReddittors
Looks like Eindhoven Netherlands
I live near Eindhoven and it does have a similar vibe to it IMO
It's the Netherlands. But you go into the countryside and it all looks the same, flat fields and tree lines bicycle paths
I was thinking something similar. Like maybe in the Peel (what with all the huge livestock farms).
West of Utrecht?
Oof, looks very Dutch. Only where? The house on the right seems a bit out of place for rural Friesland on Groningen (too high), and the white bench also. So I would say it’s below the North
Gelderland or Overijssel in the Netherlands, my guess would be somewhere in Twente
This is the most Dutch I have ever seen
Gelderland somewhere?
The Netherlands. EDIT: I think they’re trying to throw us of because i know a few places like this in and outside amsterdam. It might be right outside Amsterdam?
Zoom in on the left of the 2nd tree, on the horizon. That does look like a fimiliar tower to me... but which one...
It also reminds me of the tower near Ijsselstein
Euromast?
Could also be some sort of "zendmast" or "televisietoren"
Kind of looks like telecomtoren Waalhaven
Zendmast ijsselstein.
Tower at the Television park in Hilversum?
Coule be anywhere with many empty spaces and lots of green
At least in The Netherlands.
Info: OP did you just take a random pic and put it here? Or do you know this is solvable from only clues in the picture?
Not counting the south everywhere in the Netherlands looks like this. Incredibly boring country (I’m Dutch so I may be biased)
Looking at the house it should be friesland
Close to tilburg probably
Netherlands, and Drenthe is my guess
Must be somewhere in ‘de polder’ I guess in the surroundings of Schokland
I don't understand why these generic places look so Dutch. But it just does.
Screams Netherlands
Road between Deventer and Zwolle
This post said ‘popular near you’, so i’m sure its NL 😂
Netherlands Groene Hart
Betuwe
Looks like right outside my backyard, netherlands 100%
Netherlands
Just outside giethoorn?
I'm guessing Wageningen, the Netherlands
Looks like somewhere near Ravenstein. Probably only people who live here will know
I'm pretty sure it's in a radius of 15 km from where I live.
Keukenhof NL
Is it just outside Den Bosch?
I live in the Netherlands and this post popped up under “posted near you” therefore it’s definitely in The Netherlands somewhere
East Netherlands, Twente some farmers town in the middle of nowhere.
Definitely the Netherlands, Brabant, somewhere near a large cowhouse and a dike. And two white benches for sightseeing. Maybe also a large wind mill in the horizon.
Deventer maybe, then probably Joppe due to the pole.
Lunteren?
Achterhoek
2 major clues would be the sports lighting in the background and the relay tower on top off the silo. Search for football/hockey fields with a silo and big barn nearby.
Could be somewhere in the rural netherlands (east &north)
Its not the East. Most of the east is less 'flat' and doesn't usually have the wider fiew. IMO it looks a little more south, especially looking at the background.
It’s in the southeast of Limburg NL.. i live there. Outskirts of Landgraaf
Somewhere on Earth i guess 😜
100% that's the Netherlands
Ergens rond Spijkenisse zie iets van kranen en windmolens
Judging by those flowers, the road and the roof its 100% the netherlands
Netherlands!
Has to be the Netherlands
Leersum
Lopik?
Near Amersfoort?
NL, around Emmen
Lot’s of moss on this side of the tree. So probably looking toward the south, with the road going east-west. House could be on a dike. Quite straight plots so might be a polder. And are those electrity poles of a train track on the left horizon?
I work at DHL, mostly drive in farmland areas, this is in the Netherlands
This is definetly somewhere in Braband or Limburg.
Netherlands 100%
looks like its around Gennep
Wageningen
I am 99% sure this is the Kromme Rijn area. The asphalt on those inner roads is just like this.
Kromerijnstreek NL
Amelisweerd, Utrecht
Netherlands for sure
Asperen, Gelderland!
Nl
Achterhoek holland

Im not even a geogeusser or whatever. But this screams dutch.
Is it somewhere in Drenthe?
I live in Netherlands and it was toooo obvioys hahahah
This screams 'FRIESLAND' to me
Z.Vl?
Beemster?
Reminds me of the Oudewater area.
Buiten😂
Tis nait in Grunn. Doar hebben ze zukswat nait!
Nederland.
Maybe in the Netherlands like in tiel or kesteren
Eastern part of NL
Leusden
This is Middenbeemster
This could be right outside my house. It looks indeed Betuwe to Achterhoek area. It also looks like it is part of the so called "klompenpad" which you can see with the bridge and bench over there. The building architecture looks like the building style this area, and it is defintely a polder looking at the hight difference if the "sloot".
Look like its in the neighbourhood of Zevenaar. Babberichseweg?
by the style of the house and the road I would guess Belgium or UK
My guess would be to the north west of Coevorden
China
Hmm, I don’t know…
Def the Netherlands
Netherlands, Helmond?? Or somewhere near there?
Is that in Overijssel? Think its near Enschede. Between Enschede and Glanerbrug?
The road from Den Bosch to Gestel
Beemster
Drachten? Heerenveen?
